Took my Honda here one day, and right when I walked in, the front desk person was too pre-occupied to even pay attention. But I decided to go ahead with the service because of the good reviews, the final payment was way over that I was quoted, and car had oil stains on the carpet, from their boots. They said it wasn't them, but who else would it be... read more

I was told I needed a new manual transmission, so I took my car here to get a second opinion (just in case). I was quoted $3150, which is slightly lower than the first shop, so I decided to have the work done here. They were great! I spoke to Steve and Brandon, and they were both friendly and knowledgeable. The diagnosis fee was $124, but they waived it since I was having major work done. I took it in Wednesday afternoon and was told it would take 3-5 days or more since the weekend was coming up. To my pleasant surprise, my car was ready the next day! Most importantly, my car runs wonderfully! I feel like I'm driving a new car! I highly recommend Ashton's! read more

My expectation: I go into a shop with a list of the things I want done to my car. I get an estimate for that work in terms of part prices and labor, and how long it'll take. I leave my car, I get a call if they find other things that need to be done so that I can approve it (or not). I come back, get my car, pay something close to what was estimated, and whatever's on the itemized receipt is both expected and actually performed. Seems reasonable, right? Yet other well-reviewed shops I've been to fail in one way or another. These guys pass the test. They actually itemize out *everything* on the bill, and the prices were all within what I'd expect. (Other places I've seen mark up the car parts substantially, or claim more hours than most mechanics would say are needed -- a shop should not take longer to do something than I would.) There wasn't anything unexpected, either. Understand that good, certified mechanics are not cheap and are well worth the money (hey, if you want a cheap fix, go have some high school kid do it, but don't be too surprised if he forgets to put the oil bolt back in or substitutes coolant for engine oil). This shop's prices were similar as the others I called, and the service was excellent. They were straightforward about what needed to be fixed and why (and it was consistent with what I know about my car), and what could be fixed or held off until later (along with an estimate of how long I could reasonably expect to wait), and I didn't get the usual bullshit that most mechanics give me simply because I'm a woman. They test drove my car to make sure the brakes were fine before returning it. They even dropped me off at home so I could do some work while they serviced my car, and then picked me up when it was ready. Like I said, excellent service. I generally do the basic maintenance on my car myself. These guys impressed me enough that if a big job comes up or I'm too busy to do something, I'm comfortable taking my car to them. I highly recommend them, and will also let my friends know. Thanks, guys :) read more

I had a trailer hitch to install. I had called a bunch of other mechanics, and none of them wanted to deal with it. I drove up to Ashton's and he took a look at it and said no problem. He went to work on it right away and was done in less than an hour. Honestly, it was a pretty simple job, but he did it quickly and did a good job and the price was OK. read more

Had to take my car in for my brakes. Perfect service again:) Everyone is so nice. I live in Oakland now and still will take my car to Ashton in Dublin. read more

I found this place in Yelp! I took my car there for oil changing and service. I have BMW X3.... My engine light Service was on for 2 years and nobody could figured out... These guys, they did ABSOLUTELY GREAT JOB with oil changing and my engine service light! Also they had a very polite and professional attitude! Defiantly I would recommend them to every body! Thanks so much Ashton auto service for great job and you going to have me as a life time customer! read more

Great experience! I have my go to mechanic back home but just moved to Pleasanton. My car broke down and I needed to walk rest of way to work. They towed it, gave me estimate, fixed it, and picked me up from work. I got home only 30 min later than usual. Steve and his guys were very professional and I recommend them to anyone. read more

------ HORRIBLE ------ I usually don't write reviews (Good or bad) But this place is a TOTAL RIP OFF and it came to a point that I ended up writing one. I went there to change front break pads for my 3 years old honda civic. Other then that car was COMPLETELY fine. I got a call from them that, both front and back break pads AND rotors need to be replaced. I was like, ok do it. Once I received the car, they had it jump started and didn't tell me that they broke the alternator of the car. Once I came back home, car won't start. They refused to take care of this fix. They asked me to pay another $800 to change the alternator. I was so pissed that I took it to Honda Service station right next to the street. It turned out that only car battery was bad and got fixed in $150 then what Ashton guys were asking to change alternator for ~$800. They do NOT know what they are doing. I will NEVER go here again. read more

These guys always done a great job of servicing all of my vehicles. There has not been one repair that they could not manage to fix in a timely manner and excellent price. I highly recommend them! read more

Having trouble finding any auto shop open on Saturdays? Let alone a speedy, honest, and cheap one? Welcome to my dilemma on Friday night. I was unable to be without my car during the week due to work, so I needed a shop to not only be open on Saturday but be able to finish in one day. I came in with a laundry list of problems after getting a whole car inspection at another, shop and was really crunched for time due to me leaving on vacation soon. Not only did Ashton's have the best customer service but they also prioritized and eliminated most of the things the other shop claimed I needed fixed. I am definitely coming back to Ashton's for all my future auto needs after how much money and time I saved read more

Great service and great mechanics. Had my 1999 isuzu Rodeo blow a head Gasket. these guys fixed it and my other head gasket for a great price. These guys even went thru the trouble of changing my timing belt, water pump, valvle job, spark plugs, pulleys, oil, oilf filter and thermostat! It made sense to replace all of these parts at the same time because they were all coming out anyways, might as well put new parts in... When i got the car back i found out that they even put new hoses in the car for no additional charge, because the mechanic said it just made sense!. Give these guys 5 stars, after all of the customer service and great prices. Saved me a ton! It has been over 3 months and the car still runs like new! I refer all of my family and friends to Ashton and only get great feedback! read more

Being a car guy I feel I hold auto repair shops to a higher standard than the average joe. The folks at Ashton are true car guys and have a love for the industry. It's very apparent when you walk up to the store and see a wide range of auto's being worked on with a white glove standard. I highly recommend Steve and Jeff for the work they do and would not hesitate bringing them my vehicles for service. read more

Ashton Auto Service is wonderful. They fixed my brakes, gave great service and my car runs great. Not only did they fix my brakes but they also checked the air and rotated my tires at no extra cost. They are very thorough and accommodating with your schedule, and they ensure that you know what it is they are going to do. Will definitely make them my go to auto shop ;-) read more

This place is amazing! I took my car into another service shop and got told I needed a ton of work at a very big price. I remembered some friends telling me about Ashton Auto and decided to call them. When I called Steve answered and was incredibly helpful, thoughtful and very friendly. Not to mention a great listener. I am so glad I made that call. I brought my car in and it was very clear how honest this place was. When I drove it out after the repairs, it felt like I was driving a brand new car... I will continue to bring my car here and tell anyone that is looking for a mechanic to bring there car...I'm so happy that I found this place! Wish I would have known about it 13 years ago! read more

Went in for a problem based on the Yelp review, having never been there before. Told them the problem I was having, that had disappeared the day I took it in. They look for the problem but couldn't find anything wrong. I expected to pay the $175 estimate based on their evaluation of the car. They told me to take it home at no change since they couldn't find a problem! Said to bring it back with any more problems and they will check it out. Hopefully there's nothing wrong, but who has heard of a no charge testing and evaluation at an auto shop. This has definitely turned me into a customer! read more

I initially went here based on the Yelp reviews and I have been so far impressed. I think mainly because I have been in a position where I have been overcharged and Ashton Auto is very quick and personable. I actually spent one time talking to the owner about my adoption plans and it was nice to have such a personable conversation with the owner who was very easy to talk to and did very efficient service and very honest. I did spend a bit more my last visit but they did go over details and very skilled! read more

Knowledgable. Professional. Friendly and straight forward. Got a coolant flush done. Prompt service, and good job.

These guys are great I had a horrible experience at Stoneridge Chrysler Jeep. They were trying to bilk me for 2 months on an issue they should have identified in minutes. It took them over a month to identify it even though I told them they were wrong in their first diagnostics. They wanted over $660 after charging me $250 when Ashton fixed the easy problem for under $100 in under 20 minutes. read more

I trust them with my car and to not charge me for the things I don't need. Friendly staff, great service, and REASONABLE!! Need I say more?

We were on a road trip when our alternator died. Bad news. It really is the worst breaking down on a road trip--you need to get fixed fast and get going and you are at the mercy of the mechanic you end up at. And there is always the fear that the mechanic will take advantage of you in your situation, getting you to pay way more than is necessary because you are without normal options. We were going to get towed to a local dealership but the towing guy suggested Ashton. After checking out the reviews here we decided to take a chance. Absolutely a great decision. Steve was kind, speedy, and incredibly fair. More than fair, really. He gave us a great deal that the dealership admitted being unable to match (both with regard to timeframe and cost). Long story short, we were on our way again with just a few hours' delay. Really incredible. You can't say much better about a mechanic than "he got me back on the road fast with a great deal when I was stuck and at his mercy". We were truly fortunate to come across Ashton. If I lived in the area I wouldn't go anywhere else for all of my automotive needs. Do yourself a favor and get work done at Ashton. read more

Quick appointment, grate communication skills, friendliness and very reasonable price

I just experienced hell and heaven(okay, maybe not that dramatic). Last night, while hanging out with my friends, I left my jacket at a restaurant like a big doofus. What I didn't realize was that my keys were in my pocket, and since I had hitched a ride from a buddy I didn't realize until it was too late. My car was parked inside the West Pleasanton Bart station garage and I had no choice but to leave it over night, hoping that my jacket would turn up come morning. To make the matters worse, my parents had been nagging me to get a spare for my keys for awhile now which I naturally brushed off because that's what I'm supposed to do as their son. So naturally, I had to have my car back as soon as possible so that my parents wouldn't find out with a subsequent "I told you so" lecture. Because I had been racing against time, I googled and called around trying to look for the best solution that would be both time and cost efficient. I first called locksmiths, and most quoted me for over $300 including "service charges"(hidden fees). I threw that plan out the window and decided to have my car towed to the Honda dealership since it was right around the corner. So I called some other towing companies, one which told me that it would cost "$200 per hour because not having the keys makes it a more difficult operation since they won't be able to get the car to neutral without it". Note that I've used this towing company before and the normal cost then was about $50 for the service and additional fees depending on the distance. I was about to give up and fork over the cash until I found Ashton Auto Service. Over the phone they told me that it would be $125 flat, no additional fees and will be there as soon I want. Steve, the tow truck driver, came and met me promptly, greeted me with a smile, and got the job done in 30 minutes despite my car being in a not so ideal location(Bart station garage with cars going in and out). Not to mention, he got into my car and and put my car into neutral in less than 5 minutes... not as difficult as other towing companies had told me. I felt at ease with Steve's professionalism and friendliness and can't say enough good things about it. To reiterate, I met with Steve around 9:20 am, he dropped off my car at the dealership by 10:30 am, and after I took care of some stuff on my end I'm home right now at 11:10 am typing out this review. I called them afterwards to get his name for this review and he had told me that he went back to straighten out my car even though his job was already completed when he dropped my car off; he went beyond what was required of him. I may be out $260 today(the key will cost me $135) overall but the process was painless thanks to Ashton Auto Service and Steve. Very fast, reliable, honest, and I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

I found myself stranded with my daughters car five hours from home having mechanical difficulties - I got off the freeway and thankfully found Ashton Auto - Jeff and his crew were all helpful and polite as well as honest. Being far from home - a female - stuck in a predicament many places could have taken advantage of the situation - Everyone at Ashton Auto was professional and very helpful. They aren't cheap necessarily but they are worth that price. I asked to get a discount, Jeff mentioned he couldn't budge, but ended up doing some extra things on the side for courtesy's sake. Came in 3 days ago for a smog check, unfortunately my computer was not working and they were unable to smog my vehicle. I'm always hesitant going to car shops because I don't know when I'm over paying for a service. However, this guy went out of his way changing the fuse in my car for free and only charged me $50 for smog check. Will definitely come back here & recommend this place. Thanks again!!! read more

The tire pressure light came on while I was driving down to LA for Thanksgiving, and I called their office in a panic 30 minutes before their official opening time. They were perfectly friendly and said I could come in. After checking the tire pressure, they let me know that it was probably a faulty sensor battery rather than anything wrong with the tires. I'm definitely not a car guy, and they were honest in telling me that I didn't have to get anything replaced right away. Instead of going for the quick buck, they made sure I got home for the hoilday on time. Awesome service-- if they were that nice to me, I can only imagine how well they treat their regular customers. Ashton Auto has been my mechanic of choice for a number of years, and always good service, fair pricing and keeping me well informed. Well this week my headlight burned out, so being the independent type I went to the auto parts store bought the part and then realized that the owners handbook and a youtube video were not enough - gave Brandon a call, went over and it 5 minutes they supplied the right bulb (yep the auto parts store sold me the wrong light) and installed it - no charge! Steve is the man! I came In with a new set of rims that needed to add spacers, after problem after problem he was able to help and take care of my car. When we moved to the area ~10 years ago, we didn't know where to take our car for service so defaulted to the dealer. What a mistake! Over-priced and under-serviced, I complained at work and someone referred me to Ashton. For the next big tune-up I took it to them. They called the next day to say all was basically fine but my water pump was going out and I needed a new one. As my heart sunk a bit and asked the cost (as if I really had a choice, right?) they told me they heard the dealer was having a recall on water pumps for some models, and THEY had called over to see if MY car qualified. Turns out for my model it was a silent recall....so I would not get a notice in the mail, but if I had a problem and brought it in it would be handled for free. They said I could pick up my car from Ashton and bring it to the dealer, and after they were done with the no-charge water pump, bring it back to Ashton and they would finish the tune-up. Being mildly lazy and not wanting to drive back and forth over the next few days, I asked what a water pump would cost for them to just do it right then. $700 for them, normally over $1,000 at a dealer! Needless to say I went and got the car, took it to the dealer for a free water pump, and brought it back for the rest of the tune-up. They had told me up front the tune-up was a big one (60,000 miles) and would be ~$750. When I picked up the car they handed me the bill.....$690. Now THAT is incredible service! If they had said I needed a new water pump I would have really had no choice but to pay them to put one in. But they did the right thing, and have earned my business for life. We have referred many, many people via word of mouth to Steve and team at Ashton, who all now make it their go-to mechanic. Figured it was time to share the love on Yelp too! read more

I am not someone who goes out of my way to write a review. But I really dread dealing with car trouble. I called 6 places, including Ashton Auto.
