Took my car in for a smog check. It turned out that because my battery died, the test failed because of a sensor not reading properly. They were nice enough to not charge me at all and gave me some advice to just drive it some more before trying again. Sure enough, I came back a week later and the test passed! Would recommend although they are not the place to go for full on collision body repairs. read more

Had such a great experience with Ashton Auto Service today. Took my car in because it was making a noise and within in hour they had called me back with the estimate. A problem arose while my car was at the shop and they needed a part that could only come from the dealer and they told me they wouldn't be able to get it until Tuesday (I dropped my car off on a Saturday). Later in the day I got a call saying that they had found the part in Fremont and I was able to get my car back same day. Great customer service! Highly recommend this shop. read more

This is an honest review. The guys that action auto service have been amazing to my family and I. I cannot write about how generous and kind they are. My family and I went through an extremely challenging time but the service and price we received is amazing. I will recommend them anyway because not only is their work astounding but their kindness and humanity shows in the service, help and compassion they provide. Hello Yelp! I've been meaning to write this for a couple weeks. If you live in--or just happen to be in--the TriValley area (SF Bay Area, East Bay, Danville, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore) and you need your car worked on, take it to Ashton Auto in Dublin! I had one of those tricky problems involving idiot lights and getting my vehicle to pass a smog check. My Jeep has had this persistent annoying issue with the Check Engine light for years: various shops have looked at it, and the check engine light always comes back on. My vehicle failed a smog check. I changed the spark plugs and wires, and it failed again. I took it to Ashton Auto for them to look at it. I picked it up after they were done with it and took it to a local smog check station where it failed again. So I called Ashton and they had me bring it back. They ended up keeping it overnight (they have a loaner car they let me use. It's a beater but functions well) they worked on it and were able to make it pass. At that point, not only did they not charge me for the extra work that was necessary, but they also covered the cost of the smog check as well! I thought that was a very "stand up" thing to do. So a couple weeks later, my check engine light came on again, plus my vehicle had started making this "funny noise". Now, to be clear, I know very little about cars, but I do know that my Jeep has a lot of miles, and so I tend to be hyper aware of "new interesting sounds" that the thing makes, because I don't want to be stranded of course. I guess I'm just paranoid. So I took it back to Ashton Auto, just hoping to be told it wasn't going to imminently explode. They kept it overnight. When I picked it up the next day, they had done whatever they did to it--one of my cylinders is misfiring and they tweaked it and reset the sensors. That was great, but then they treated this as another warrantee of the previous work they had been doing, and they wouldn't let me pay them! Now, I know that the main reason my vehicle is having problems is cause it's old, and that's not the fault of Ashton Auto. And if one of my cylinders is misfiring due to age, then that's just how it goes until I fix that big problem (or put a bullet in the old thing's head). But Ashton Auto stood by their work, and since it was related to the first problem they treated it as their problem. They take customer service very seriously, and they definitely know what they are doing. They are always friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable, their advertised prices are competitive and you get good work for that price, they are honest, and they have a strong warrantee ethic. They have a loyal life time customer here! read more

I explained the issue I was hanging with my car and he immediately understood what the problem was and he addressed it few minutes. They are thorough, understanding, and professional. Had an issue with a whiny belt on a 2003 Tahoe with over 140K on it and got it taken care of by Steve and team a month or two ago. Had a coincidental hiccup with the alternator immediately afterwards but Steve 'made it right' through *excellent* customer service. Highly recommended. read more

My 2004 Jetta has never run better. This place fixed my car to the point that is runs like new again!! I was able to take it on a road trip which is something I have not been able to do in years. I was so impressed with the professionalism and level of service I received here. I brought my car in and they looked at said, they would call me in the morning and tell me what they believe the issue was. I received a phone call the following morning and they gave me a breakdown of the problem (that I have had for years) told me the total cost and I picked up my car that evening. I cannot say enough about the guys at Ashton Auto. Brandon and Steve are amazing. I have been bringing my car plus my two daughter's cars to Ashton's for almost five years. I have never had a bad experience. Our cars range in age from 1999 to 2014, and all different makes and models. I know their pricing is more than fair, because I have compared, plus they waive charges when they don't have to... but that's how they treat their customers. Took my 97 Camry to Ashton today. My car was giving me starting problem and idle was very rough. Before Ashton, I took this car to another mechanic who made me spend about $300 which did absolutely nothing to the problem my car had. Steve (the main guy) listened to me very calmly and patiently. Spent about an hour diagnosing the problem, gave me a call to get permission to go ahead and order the parts, gave me a total price which was very reasonable. Charged me $120 for diagnostics and $20 more for installing the sensor. This was my first experience with him with a real problem (not a simple oil change and tuning stuff) which needed a good mechanic and diagnostics; Steve did a really good job. I am really very satisfied. My car is running fine and back to normal in about 3 -4 hours. Good job man and keep it up! read more

I went in and got their special new customer discounted oil change (only $21.) talked directly to the owner who gave me a good idea of the cost of some other work I was considering. I didn't have an appointment and I was out of there in less than 30 minutes. Try them, it's nice not to have to deal with the big chains and support the local business instead. Just fabulous! My car broke down on 680 on a late Friday afternoon. I managed to get it into a shopping center in San Ramon that night. I called Steve Saturday morning early with very low expectations because of what day it was. He had someone out to tow it in 20 minutes and the entire repair completed by that afternoon. I found this shop on Yelp, had great reviews so I thought I would go in for an oil change that I was due for. Best shop ever! The guys were super nice, professional, and were able to let me know other items I need to address with my car. And the prices are very affordable and fair. Since I was a new customer they gave me a Yelp discount on my oil change, Half Off! Wow that's really good! Best thing is that is it down the street from my job and they have shuttle service since its hard to get my car worked on during the week if you dont have an extra car to drive around. These guys are the real deal , they work on old and new cars so do not take your car to a dealership they jack up the prices alot. Ashton is now my go to shop for all my car needs! No more worries!
