I was so excited to try Arthur's. Admiral District is a go to spot for me in West Seattle and I've heard nothing but great things. Had roughly 45 minutes and was starving. Was greeted by the host. Said it was just me and I was in a tight time frame so I'd just sit at the bar. I sat there for 10 minutes without once being greeted. They weren't busy. There were two other patrons at the bar and approximately 6 staff members all huddled around the kitchen entrance talking and hanging out. They saw me come in, sit down and even the host was with them. I was never even acknowledged. Very disappointing. I left and went down the street. Not sure if I'll give it a second chance. Part of West Seattles charm is that you feel like a local and that is so clearly missed here. read more

Super impressed with the decor and atmosphere. Amazing high end food with a calm chill vibe to it, shuffleboard and all. Perfect if you don't know what you're in the mood for because they provide everything you could possibly imagine from breakfast, to lunch, to dinner. You're sure to please anyone ! Bar is separate from main restaurant so you can go kidless and sit at the beautiful bar, or bring the kids and sit in the main part and be super comfortable. I wasn't sure where I wanted to go to lunch today. I was on my own and I needed to do a bit of a working lunch. I wasn't feeling my regular haunts so I decided to stop by this new place I had seen over the past few weeks. Obviously it was Arthur's :). The food was amazing. I am able to find food for any diet - vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, whole30. The restaurant has been open for 5 weeks. Today's experience was extremely friendly, very expedient and welcoming to me hanging out and doing some work after my food. I spoke with my server about the negative yelp reviews and they admitted they had some adjustment time after opening. I would suggest giving it another try folks who came a long time ago. This will be a regular on my list and the food was so beautiful that I took pictures of it to share with friends to make them drool. So, the food was good but the thing that will definitely make me come back was how welcome the server made me feel. She wasn't rushed with me, she made me feel like I was extremely important and she was very accommodating - from providing recommendations to letting me know for the future that they are cool with substitutions and have "normal" dishes for people like my husband who don't like "fancy" food. Wow. Popped in with the kids when our regular place was closed. It's really nice. So nice I feared the waitress would be snooty with the kids or that it'd be prohibitively expensive. Neither was the case. Delicious GOURMET food, at great prices. We were there for lunch and it wasn't too crowded. We chose Arthur's for a special brunch with our son and his girlfriend (her first visit to Seattle.) we have been a few times before, and we, as well as our guests, have had a wonderful experience - both with service and food. I have loved the Avo Smash in previous visits, so I ordered it, as well as recommending it to our first timers. When it arrived, I noticed it had noticeably more seasoning (looked like Everything But The Bagel) on it. As it turned out, there was a lot of lemon zest in the copious seasoning, which overwhelmed the more delicate flavors of the eggs and avocado. It was too strong for me. Also, even with the cooked eggs, the whole meal felt like it just came out of a refrigerator. I asked the friendly waiter about the change in the dish, and he explained that they have a new chef. I've popped in here twice now, once with the kids to have supper and play shuffleboard and once with the hubby for happy hour at the bar. Great experience both times! One side is the adults-only bar side and the other side is kid-friendly - there is a good balance of separation between the two without taking away from the overall openness of the space. The food is interesting, fresh, healthy, and can accommodate most dietary needs. Both times the staff were quite friendly. They have a great selection of beers and wines - haven't tried the cocktails yet, but I will next time we go, because we're sure to go again (with and without the kids). read more

Wonderful surprise in West Seattle. Nicely appointed, it easily accommodated our party of six. The coffee was strong. It came quickly. All of us enjoyed our breakfasts. They were flexible. Two wanted full breakfasts, two wanted carbo free meals and I got my granola. Everyone was happy. My yogurt was not sour or sweet. Plenty of granola and they added fruit. We usually goto West City on a week nite but a friend suggested Arthurs. Wish we went to West City. My pork chop was dry and overcooked. My wifes trout salad was bland. I am not sure if there was any dressing. They forgot the poached egg. I told the waitress not to worry about it. She said she would have them make one quickly. 10-15 minutes later the salad was eaten and the egg finally arrived. We told her we didn't need it but my buddy wanted to shoot it down. Stay away. Worst brunch I've ever had. Service is terrible. The waitstaff are openly not very nice even to each other, to patrons PNW apathetic/fake nice/passive aggressive. Moreover, we waited forever for a table, waited forever for a coffee, the balsamic for my basic salad inedibly acidic, the quinoa soggy and cold and no flavor, the kale looked like it had seen better days, the roasted vegetables were .5 oz? and dried out and also cold, the only thing hot was my banger, which was piping hot and tasted fine, nothing to write home about. No herbs, no flavor. I could have made way better at home. And it might have been salvaged somewhat had anyone asked me if I wanted hot sauce. Good luck getting anyone to come round and ask. I've been wanting to try this place for a while as I'm Celiac and knew they had some Gluten Free options. After seeing a movie at the Admiral Theater we were looking for a place close by and I wanted to try Arthur's. The friend I was with said she'd been before and didn't have a great experience... But I wanted to form my own opinion and I'm glad we gave it a shot! We arrived just past 9pm on a Saturday and it was Happy Hour! Great choices on the HH menu with GF options! I had the Open Faced Sandwich (two actually! a lamb and a pork) both very good - quality meat with tasty sauce... AND great quality Gluten Free Bread! (I believe our server/bartender said it was from Essential Baking Co). Sandwiches were served with crisp house-made potato chips which were also very good! My friend had the Mac n Cheese Balls (of course, not GF) and said they were delicious! so I had to take her word for it ;) Craft Cocktails were good ... but I have a hard time ever justifying $12 for a cocktail... I had something with Rosemary in it ... and opted for a glass of (fairly lackluster but only $5) red wine to have with my food. This one is tough...food is incredible and inventive. More adventurous breakfast options than most places...5-star worthy. People are really nice - BUT possible the slowest service in the universe. Waited 30 min for a baileys coffee and when it arrived it was half a shot of baileys in a cup with a half of a cup of coffee. So I mix it up? Food took another 30. Last time we can food took 90 min and not one hey would you like another beverage. It's a clean quiet spot - but I'm giving it three stars as their staff though nice need to work on their system. This is definitely one of the cutest places in west Seattle. Very open and airy and modern! I had the foragers rosti and it was so delicious, especially with tapatio. My bartender Laura made me Irish coffee and their summertime hot chocolate drink, both incredible. And she was extremely pleasant. Life recently moved me to Seattle, where I immediately stumbled upon this little gem in West Seattle! Love at first sight! I knew immediately when walking by their window that Arthur's was going to be on my "favorite" list! The cute patio with fresh flowers, large clean windows, ceiling fans nestled between boards- covered with foam at the top for noise-control, and the friendly faces behind the bar were just the type of comforts that I desired when eating outside of my home. Once inside I checked out the bathrooms (I know, weird, but you can tell lots by a kitchen if the bathrooms are clean) and to my delight the ladies' room was clean and smelled great, with a real orchid near the sink! The entire place is cheerful and peaceful at the same time.Very nice! My hope was that the food was as awesome as the space! The menu is Australian inspired and very unique, I love a place that serves breakfast all day long, I mean, what's better than eggs and bacon at night? I know, I know, a dirty martini, but I digress...:) My first order was the Avo Smash, it's just like it sounds but along side the "smash" they've added two perfectly poached eggs atop fresh sourdough toast, a bit of kale, and a lightly dressed tomato salad! Perfection in every bite - this is some good stuff, truly! My freshly squeezed grapefruit juice finished off my breakfast and I reached for the menu to check out what my next meal would be with the gang at Arthur's. Several days later my legs carried me back in their door with a salivating mouth and a very hungry belly. The burger was my next choice and to say it was FANTASTIC is an understatement! The fact that I'm a burger slut makes me kind of an expert at burgers and throw in that I'm from Texas, well, you get my drift. This half-pounder was huge and juicy, solid flavors and just plain old, good! Those flavors bursting into my mouth like a symphony of yumminess that only a good burger can bring, made my whole day! Then, after my new favorite burger was eaten (all of it), I ordered a Pavlova, and OMG, OMG! Why have I never had this sugary delight before? Normally sugar is not on my radar but this thing was "Holy Shiitake!" delish! It satiated my need for sweetness and, don't judge, I ate the entire thing. I was like a three-toed sloth when I left that day. So happy! OK! I'm sold. Arthur's has now become my home-away-from-home-eatery. Dropped by Arthur's for brunch on a Saturday morning and was delighted with the experience! The interior is clean and bright. We were seated in the dining area, so I didn't get a good look at the bar space. There are a few screens around and I believe they show the Seahawks whenever they play. The service was fast and pleasant, with our waiter being absolutely wonderful. I ordered the Chorizo Egg Bake and my husband got the Wild Mushroom Egg Bake. Both were delicious! It was hard not to steal all of his polenta cake! The ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful. We'll definitely be back! read more

WS could use a higher-end breakfast spot, and Arthur's provides it! Already in the area we had the basics covered with Easy Street and Luna Park. Missing was a place where you can take out-of-towner parents and grandparents and have a leisurely meal al fresco. The restaurant's patio is dog-friendly and spacious enough that diners (and dogs) are not bumping into each other. Servers do have to show some dexterity to make their way with heavy dishes form one table to the next, but they arrive with a smile and are ready to reconfigure dishes to meet dietary needs. Recommend when WS's traditional places are not what the day calls for. read more

This is the second time we came here. This time for dinner. We had gone there when they first opened for breakfast, and it was so-so, but I didn't want to write a review before giving them a second chance. First the good: Nice, clean place. They have a big, handsome bar with a good selection and some craft drinks that our dinner guests seemed to enjoy. I ordered a roasted chicken on lentls & my wife had a BLT. She really liked hers. Came with home made potato chips. My chicken was basic roasted. Fine. Lentls were heavy with various curry like powders which I enjoy but these were pretty bitter and dry. It happens. The not so good: Service. We were seated fast and after settled, it took quite a while for our server to come take initial orders / drink orders. Because of this, we opted not to order appetizers as we wanted to get things rolling. There were only 3 other tables there, so not sure what the deal was. For the rest of the evening, the staff just hung out in the back and came by once in a while after numerous attempts at eye contact. Finally had to resort to waiving them down to try and speed things up. The menu is VERY limited, even for dinner. Half are breakfast items, and the rest are a mix. Not super approachable, so I can see how it can get old if you plan on being a regular customer. i can deal with that. But the service really keeps us from putting it in a normal rotation in the competitive West Seattle foodie market. I hope to hear that they have changed things up in the future and will be happy to try again and amend review. But for now, this is a soft 3. read more

We tried Arthur's for brunch with friends on a Sunday. Pros: *They have bottomless mimosas on the weekends. * They have gluten-free options. * Our server was nice. Cons: *Service was slow! We ordered eggs and toast meals, and it took over 30 minutes. There was no apology for the slow service, and it wasn't that busy. *Portion sizes are small. I ordered the classic brekkie and got one piece of toast and what looked like 1 egg. For a breakfast entree, I would expect at least 2 pieces of toast. All and all, our experience was okay. We will likely give Arthur's another shot, but it isn't a place that we'd recommend based on our first experience. read more

I wanted to love it. I really did. Great reviews etc but there are a few problems that hurt the food which is what I am basically commenting on here. The place is nice and its got a clean modern look. But as a customer when you walk in you want to feel first. So our experience was good on entry and we were greeted right away which was nice. the first thing I noticed is that there are what appear to be a bunch of off work employees hanging out near the back of the bar. That is fine I don't really care but we started walking to the open furthest back table in the bar away from the door and one of them sees me and drops his stuff on it and sits so we cant take it. OK whatever but its one guy taking a table for 8. I know they are employees because I see your knife bag. So we just took the other table and service from the bartender and the host was prompt so good but every time someone walked the door we got blasted with cold ass air and it took a long time to warm up again. It didn't help my disposition toward that guy who could have grabbed an empty bar stool instead. I always thought the customers should get first dibs on seating when they come to eat. I mean without us no job right? Well he picked up and left about fifteen minutes later and then we relocated. much better and warmer. Yes we moved our own stuff. So next we looked at the menu and its interesting but somewhat limited. We were there for burgers as its a passion of ours and they were definitely different but you really should either make some items add on or offer a build your own. not everyone wants apples or a fried egg on it. Especially the latter as it makes a burger too heavy for most people. The apples would have been better chopped up as a chutney or in an aioli or something because you couldn't bite through it and I finally just pulled them off. Our burgers were cooked well but they came with black (i mean black) burnt inedible bitter chips. This place brags about the house made chips but I had to ask the waiter for fresh ones as these were just terrible. The server should be the last line of defense stopping a bad plate from hitting the table because honestly you dont recover from that first impression Oh did I mention he was shoving his hands in earlier to the chip box and munching away without washing hands etc? I cant imagine how many health violations we have here and I have worked in a lot of kitchens and that shit doesn't fly. Its unsanitary and its unsafe because a person could have been handling chemicals, have hepatitis, e coli, raw chicken juice, who the hell knows what. Its unlikely but its still extremely unsanitary and a totally unnecessary risk. I am sure any chef or owner would be appalled to hear this from a customer witnessing this from the staff. So this was unsettling and it left a really bad first impression. Had he used tongs or a glove this would be a non issue and its just being lazy. Lastly, I think there should be a fries option. I just don't like cold food or sides and our replacement chips were just that. It just did not eat well. On our way back to the the car we passed the copper coin which we almost went to and looked at each other and said we should have gone there. Indeed. Its a shame as I really had high hopes. Perhaps someone will actually read this and think about the little things. read more

We love Arthurs! Their avo smash is to die for, and even their kids grilled cheese with white cheddar is a fan favorite. My favorite menu item is their the Pavlova. egg white meringue with fresh homemade whip cream, with orange sauce and fresh fruit. Ah-mazing! We live in the neighborhood and it is our go-to. Update: Dropping from 5 stars to 4. We returned a second time and this time our food--a grilled cheese that sounded artful on the menu but was executed sadly and served cold and not-that-grilled (it was 10:00 at night)--was not as much fun as the first visit. Additionally, there is something off about the bartenders that have been working (same crew both evenings) when we visited. Our waitress was great on the first visit--our bartenders were both a little customer service deficient and one just a little gruff toward the end of the evening (11 pm). It's a great space with good beer; food service system and customer service needs to evolve but I'm hoping that it can! We'll be back at some point to check. ------------ It was half full when we went for dinner but our waitress was great, the place is beautiful, the menu and our food were both very good (especially for West Seattle!) and all three in our group had a nice local beer or cider. I had the Arthur's Sammie (lamb) and I'm including pictures of our dishes, drinks, and the place (after it cleared out as we lingered a while. I did not at all have the experience that the few previous reviewers had so I thought I'd better leave a review--I'd love to see this place do well in the improving Admiral District! Arthur's is hands down the BEST breakfast/brunch in West Seattle! Their dishes are so unique but incredibly satisfying. I always go for the foragers' rosti for myself because it's so flavorful and interesting, and the ricotta pancakes for everyone to share. The server recommended bottle of cava here that I really loved; it wasn't too sweet, had a grapefruit finish and did not taste like any other cava I've had. Unfortunately I don't remember which one it was, so I'll have to try them all! The decor here is so cute and fun, too. I love the cute planters and bright open space. It's really the service that brings this place down. Once seated it took about probably 10 minutes for someone to approach our table and ask about drinks. We just decided to order right away since we were ready. Food took about 30 minutes, but that was after a server brought us the wrong order. After eating we waited, and waited, and waited for the check. So we went and asked for it. He said "I just put it on one tab" and we said we wanted separate. Another 5 minutes to get separate checks. Then he split the check wrong. Another 5 minutes to correct that. Then he almost charged my card to her check and her card to my check. Another 5 minutes to get that sorted. I'm not sure why it took so long or why it was so complicated?? But we were there for almost 1 1/2 hours, and not by choice. Our server also seemed like he hated his job We got the arthur's omelette: mushroom goat cheese. It was good, I'd probably get it again. Came to Arthur's for the first time on Memorial Day. The inside of the restaurant is very bright, clean and airy. I ordered the Avocado Smash with trout, but it turned out they were all out of trout that morning from the evening before. Our server (who was also the owner) offered me crab instead, which I agreed to wholeheartedly (i love crab). The food was taking some time and eventually the owner came over to us and admitted that she had forgotten to put in our order so the meal was on her! We told her not to worry about it but she insisted. Our food was DELICIOUS! The avocado and crab were so fresh, the homemade cheese was absolutely divine. And the sourdough from essential bakery was the icing on top. The best part about this meal? It was healthy and satisfying, i didn't get that usual gut bomb feeling of a typical brunch breakfast out. I almost feel guilty for not paying for such a great meal, but i informed another server that we would be back and would bring more friends. I cant wait to try this place for lunch or dinner soon. I really want this place to be five stars, because their food is fantastic and the atmosphere is light, bright and cheerful. BUT my first complaint is the wait for food has always been REALLY long (45 mins+) every time I have been here, which is many times because I live nearby. My second complaint is the weird way they serve drinks: Hot lattes in a thin small glass with no handle and mixed drinks in the wrong style of glass, also usually too small. That part really bothers the former bartender in me. But the food is great, so if you can stand the wait and not care about about burning your hand with their lattes and such, it's a great place. read more
