Disappointed. I have been trying to get an estimate on a mini split ac/heater unit. They were quick to make an appointment but they would call the day of and say they were unavailable. Where do I start? We bought a water heater, HVAC, and furnace for them to install. The first guy forgot to turn our hot water back on. Isn't this installation 101? He came back the next day (so overnight, not hot water) just to turn it on. Then, our thermostat (which wasn't even the one we were supposed to get) did not work. I walked to Ace to get a battery and nope, nothing. They had to send the same guy back out (so overnight in the cold with no heat), and he said that his "assistant trainee" had not wired it right. Then, our water heater did not pass code. The manager I spoke with because I did not want the same guy back out claimed that the guy was a "trainee" which means that they have a trainee training a trainee. So, a different pair of guys came out and they had NO idea that the water heater was the problem. They had to call their office to ask someone to look for the report from the inspection and what do you know, it suddenly was found. Well, these guys did not know about it and did not have the equipment. Plus they walked on our white bathmat with their boots. Should I continue? It gets better. Suddenly today two guys show up and we had no idea they were coming. Nobody called us. Nobody notified us. So they fixed a few things but the rest needs a plumber which is scheduled for Thursday. After they left, our thermostat which had been working suddenly is no longer working (blank like before). I again walked to Ace, got a new battery and again, did not work. I called and was told that someone would be out between 10am-2pm today. Well, then I later get a call saying that they don't have anyone who can come out until Monday!!! So, for a week we would have to wait for heating/cooling? I complained and the earliest the person could get someone is tomorrow afternoon. Well, I had $80 tickets for tomorrow afternoon for Meow Wolf. Now, I have to eat them because the priority is having heating/cooling in our home. I can't reschedule them for Thursday which is my other day off because their plumber is supposed to come out. Why do I have to suffer because they can't seem to get things right the first or second or third or fourth time? There is something seriously internally wrong with this company. This review is NOT going to change until they make this right. We still haven't passed code and I keep getting excuses and a run around. I seriously have lost trust in this company and am considering paying for another company to fix what this company can't seem to get right. Do NOT use them for anything. read more

Wow, find the whole experience unbelievable. We had ARS replace my parents main sewer line between the house and the city sewer in 2017. The work took a long time and there were many delays. ARS billed my father for over $18K. He, being from a generation where a handshake meant something, and people were proud of there work, promptly paid the invoice even though the job had not been completed. We were unable to get anyone out to finish filling the trench, and clean up the yard since they had been paid. The following spring we had significant additional expense finding all of the severed sprinkler lines and filling in an 18" depression in the trench. ARS did not respond to communications. Now, 7 years later, it turns out that the pipe between the house and the street does not slope downhill. This fills with sewage. Calling then again after this discovery resulted in a promise a return call within 24 to 48 hours. After failing to receive this return phone call (I know, surprising), I authorized the plumbers who identified the issue to perform the fix. After additional attempts to contact ARS, I was finally put in contact with a service manager. After reviewing my documents, he stated that they would have honored the warranty, but since we had someone else solve our emergency, their contract was now NULL and VOID. If you have had any service from this company regarding something that might be buried, I would strongly advise you get a third party to review the work. My parents, who are now in their 90s and trying to stay in their dream home, do not need the aggravation and stress associated with dealing with companies who are not proud of their services and do not stand behind their work. With respect to the reply from ARS, where they state that customer service is their utmost priority, in the hopes of having further communication, I provided the information they requested. This original post was 9/5, the reply was 9/5, I provided the requested information 9/5. They responded to my text that they would be in reach out for further discussion and assistance. I want to be clear: I would give *ZERO STARS* But Yelp won't let me. I will also preface this by saying that I had ARS out once before, and while they did run 2-3 hours later than the "window" they quoted, they showed up and did a fine job. That said, this second time has put me so far off on them that I can't even speak it. They gave me a 12-4 window for yesterday. Called at 3:30, said they'd be late, here by 6. 5:45 they call again--can't get here at all until morning, first thing, 8-9. They'll call before they head here. At 8:45 we called, oh they'll have someone call me back within 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, I call back AGAIN. 10-15 minutes as the operator tries to get someone in customer service. I finally called a different company and set up an appointment for 10-12 today WHILE ON HOLD. They finally get back to me and tell me the tech is *just* around the corner. No suggestion of making anything up for the "inconvenience" of having buckets of sewage in my basement. Nope, cancel the tech, I have an appointment with a different company. This all started off wrong in January this year the consultant came out, and in her notes didn't write, That my furnace was a "down flow unit."  So the installers were unprepared with an upflow furnace. By this time, they're already 2 hours behind trying to find the right furnace that I had ordered. They tried to talk me in to getting a furnace that was a downgrade from the one I had bought. I told them no, and "asked if we should reschedule for another time." They proceeded To tell me, "no only because you are our only customer in the last 2 weeks" they were greedy to say the least!  So I needed a 14 inch furnace. They ended up with what they so-called an ungrade.  Upgrading me to a 17 inch furnace mind you I only have a 900 square foot home.  And the furnace I have Now is meant for something way bigger. By the time these guys were done installing, I asked about the new filter slot because i notice that my old filter was still there From my 37 year old furnace. I asked why and he said. This is the only way.  So when they left, I called and they scheduled for the manager to come out and make a new slot for the new furnace for filters. At this time, the electricians were still here.  One inside and one outside!!! The one outside was getting frustrated and wanted to leave without getting the job  Completely done, the guy inside Only had 20 minutes left to do what he needed done. But he ended up leaving 2 holes in my wall  And told me that I needed to patch them up when they were the ones that created those holes.     Now comes to summer and I need to make an appointment to see if my new air conditioner works. I waited around all day for them to call me and cancel and come the next day. They told me that I could use my air conditioner until  They get there. Long story short, it didn't turn on the fan wasnt moving And it was blowing hot air. So I called right back and they sent someone out within an hour. For that guy to tell me that the refrigerant was empty and there was a loose connection.  They came out,  a day later did their test Filled the refrigerant and went on their way. A few days later, it was blowing hot air again, so someone came out  And found that there was a problem with the actual unit itself  telling me that they werent going to use that company anymore. They had problems with the same unit with other people. So they needed to come out and switch out air conditioners. This guy also proceeded to tell me that there is a whistling noise coming from my furnace. And he asked how long that had been going on for I said the entire time since the day of install, he said Well, there's a static problem, and you should have them fixed that when they come out next. Fast forward to replacement day. They get it all done and I ask the guys about the whistling noise. They said there's nothing they can do about it. And I asked if it was because I got a bigger unit. He said yes, but there's still nothing they can do about it and since the furnace was already installed that something he couldnt help me with. Then he went upstairs to try and fix it anyway  And it stopped making the noise, but now it's making noise again. A few weeks go by and it's blowing HOT air once again. So now I have someone coming out for the fifth time To fix it! The only reason why I'm giving them a one star is because of how fast they get out here to my place. I had an appointment scheduled between 10-2 , they claimed they called my husband to cancel . I happily offered them a screen shot that they never called !! My house is 80 degrees I paid 10 thousand dollars to them 2 years ago and they can't come service it on time . I called them and asked where the tech was oh your appointment is on hold we are only fixing air conditioning at this time . Your tech told me to set it up as a service !!!!!! Oh and I asked why they were not here on the first call they rep couldn't tell me and would have another rep call back asap , well I called them back 40 min later after no response !! So if they do not make it today she said then tomorrow I get to wait between 10-2 again . I asked well so if you would like to get paid for the service one would need a job , sooooo you expect your clients to take off multiple days of work due to your ability not to schedule appropriately? I will say this ,I have never had this issue with this company before and I have bought an air conditioner, furnace and water heater through them . Edit second day no show so 8 hrs of my wasted time and they could give a shit !!! No apologies no comp nope just another day with a 4 hr window !!!!!!!!! Worst service ever !! 4 separate Appointments -First one rescheduled was not called only found out because I called 2 hours from end of appointment window -Second one cancelled due to low temps still no one called I called in and was told it needs to be rescheduled for a warmer day -Third one cancelled still no call I called in 1/2 way through the appointment window and was told they only have 2 techs and one called out sick so the other is working only trouble calls * understandable but why did I have to call you to get this information -Forth appointment no call no show called 1/2 through appointment window was told yes tech will be there then I called 30 minutes before end of window and was told the tech was not answering the phone. I did get a call 20 minutes after the Scheduled appointment and told sorry the tech would not be coming and asked if I wanted to reschedule for tomorrow. Please understand this appointment is just for an annual service check to my AC unit. It should not be this frustrating for a 20 minute appointment. I have raved about this company in the past but disregard that post that tech no longer works here and it would seem value for other peoples time, basic kindness and customer service must have left with him. Had a technician come out to see why ac was having issues. After the inspection he tells us we need a new unit for $10,000! When we tell him there's no way we can afford that he asks us what we can afford. We say around $4,000 and low and behold he says we no longer need a new one, only a freiant replacement which was conveniently $3,999.... The following day we called denvers best HVAC and they sent a technician named Larry. Larry noticed that someone had unplugged the ac unit. Which had to be the previous inspector. What a snake. Larry said we just needed to replace the filters and charged $79. I have called multiple times over six months and I get a person who relays my message to "Lauren" who is NEVER there and I am promised a call back which has not happened yet. I paid for a subscription to have the ac/ furnace tuned up each spring/ fall. For each event, scheduled well in advance, I am called the day of, to be told they are overbooked, and need to reschedule two weeks out. This happens a minimum of twice per tune up. This is inconsiderate as I have stayed home to be present for the technician, and have been laughed at by the ars team when I mention it. Once what I have paid for is complete, I would rather ignore it until it breaks and pay someone else for a new one than ever let ars in my house again. read more

Poorly organized. I submitted a request for a quote through Lowes. The job was a simple water heater replacement. Within 15 minutes I had been called by four different people. One said they couldn't be there until next week (five days away). Another said they would have someone at my door between 4-6 pm that night (this technician was a no-show). Another said that they did not need to send anyone and that the job could be quoted over the phone (this person never called back to finish the quote). The fourth caller, like the others, was completely unaware that I had already spoken to someone at the company. He was certain that the quote had to be done in-person. I'm not answering their calls anymore. I did the job myself in two hours for 1/3 of the cost of the quotes I received from the competition. Fort Collins, CO. read more

If you use ARS to replace a sewer line make sure you have it scoped after the work is completed. We made the assumption the work would be done correctly, with quality. Shame on us for relying on the "experts". We just sold our home and when the sewer line was scoped it illustrated a dip in the line, although the line was clean. ARS and the buyers' plumber confirmed the dip and both agreed it could be a problem in the future - ARS explained our warranty had expired and said the ground had settled - common sense would say that a pipe buried 10 feet deep, in clay dirt probably wouldn't settle. We obtained quotes to fix the dip and the quote from ARS was double the price compared to the other plumber. Too bad ARS doesn't stand behind their work. read more

I have used ARS for a couple of projects in the past. We had a sewer line issue that took 2 1/2 months to complete due to issues passing inspection (3 inspections to pass) and availability of the inspector. One appointment was scheduled a month out. Next, I recently had an estimate performed for some plumbing work, which came in at over $1700, with a caveat that it may be higher once they got into the project. Hearing that, I got 3 more estimates, averaging about half that amount. I really question their pricing project. Next, I just got off the phone with them, delaying an A/C tuneup for the second time. In both instances, the call came at the end of the window. The call today came with no set time for arrival, so I had to cancel altogether. I'm done with ARS. Given each of these issues, I don't think they can perform in an acceptable manner and at a reasonable price. I would highly discourage anyone from using them. read more

I highly DO NOT recommend using this business for any services. 0/10 We had found ARS on google to come out in the winter time to service our furnace. The technician left and suddenly we have no heat. After multiple calls to ARS to complain about the lack of heat it turns out the technician accidentally left a wire plugged in that is "only supposed to be used during servicing calls". He comes back takes the wire out and we are all set with heat. This should have been our first red flag which we passed off as a simple mistake. We were then sold a "package" where we would have our AC serviced before summer time. So we call them in April to service our AC, and were booked, cancelled, rebooked, etc. all the way until August.. Completely unprofessional considering we have to take time off of work to be available for these visits. In August (when the summer is already almost over) they send out a technician to come maintain our AC unit. Lo and behold, we have to buy a brand new unit because ours is "on it's last leg". The following day our AC starts making noises that sounds like scraping metal. So you're telling me that I just went through an entire summer of 90° Colorado peak heat days and, the following day after ARS leaves, we now suddenly have AC issues? Read the other multiple YELP reviews on this company, there is definitely an unfortunate pattern. read more

Created an appointment for Saturday the 12th no one showed and supposedly left a message to reschedule. Called Saturday after appointment time and was assured someone would come the next day. Still no show or communication. I finally called for my roommate who stayed home all weekend waiting for someone to show Sunday night. They claimed a manager would call me back; never did. Called Monday very upset and wanting them to waive the visit fee for not showing up twice now. Set up an appointment for 4-8 on Thursday and again no one showed. Received a VM stating we needed to reschedule yet again and if we did not they would charge the $99 visit fee. Called in again to see what is going on and why they're treating us this was. Again, I was told a manager would call back; nothing. Gave up at this point. Received a call from dispatch today saying if we wanted someone to come we would have to pay the $99 visit fee. They're a horrible unreliable company do not waste your time or money and go with a company that will actually show up for their appointment times and stay true to their word. We were charged for them to give us grief for a week. I do not know how they run a business like this but it is horrible. This company is good at installing heating and air systems but horrible at fixing and maintaining them. I had my third bad experience with that a few days ago. Fool me not once but three times... First when a part of the ac system failed they claimed it was a not apart of the system. Even though they installed it and it was not there before I bought the ac system.... Go figure. Second battle was on the ac system warranty. I was told it was a ten year warranty when I paid 5k for the system. When something major broke, they swore it was a 5 year warranty. After being hot and miserable for days I was able to find the original paperwork that proved it indeed was a ten year warranty, I was lucky enough to get a working ac system again. Last issue, I am currently out of pocket after paying 7200 for a furnace that was able to make it a whole 2 years without an issue. First 7200 for a plain Jane furnace is way too much ( Ars overcharges, but that is a whole other issue). But I was able to get a 5 year labor warranty before I bought the system, or at least that is what I thought. Once again the company is not honoring their word and unfortunately I am not able to locate my paperwork yet. I was told it is only a year warranty and I don't even get a free 3 year home service plan I guess is standard for customers, except for me. If you choose to do business with this company odds are you will end up with something like this happens to you since I've had to deal with it three times. Do your research when deciding which company to trust when dealing with your homes HVAC. It is important to have a company that you know is going to be there when you need them. Terrible service!!! They "fixed" our "leaking Ac unit" a couple years ago and said it should last for the life of the unit and have warranty with them. Ac broke again and they are telling us that we have to "fix it again because it's like a bandaid needing to be resealed periodically" that's $2000-$3000 every time. They were the ones who didn't fix it properly the first time so they can charge you again in 1-2 years! This is a house built brand new in 2012 with 2 Ac units. I was massively overcharged for a repair and they refused to make it right. Buyer beware. They quoted me $2,600 for a sewage pump replacement on the basis the part alone was $1,200 (per Scott). The repair was completed in 2 hours. When I received the paperwork, I looked it up on the manufactures web site and the part was $451. Incidentally also available for $400 on for curbside pickup at Lowes. So they charged me $1,000 an hour for the job. When I approached them about this, their excuse was the job was fixed price. The tech pulled out my toilet and made a mess of dirty brown residue in my external washer pipes and floor in my bathroom and replacing the toilet askew so that the bare floor is exposed. TERRIBLE COMPANY. I pay ARS for the AC service plan & after using the service I was told it was illegal for them to fix my machine (which only needed a Freon recharge). They quoted me $15,000 for a new AC setup. FACT: It is completely legal for certified HVAC technicians to use R22 refrigerant to maintain existing machines. The tech was extremely unprofessional, he made my house reek of cigarettes after being in my home for only 30 minutes. I have received three separate quotes for replacing my boiler and was told by their tech that those other quotes were suspicious and I shouldn't trust them because my job should cost close to 30k. They do not stand behind their guarantee and will find some other reason why they won't fix their mistakes. Emergency water issue with my water heater, yesterday. Tech comes in and ad I explain what's going on, and show him our issue. All he says wow that's kind of a tight spot. We were quoted $1800 by another company to fix a broken sink/dishwasher drain. we knew right away that this was an attempt to gouge us and that it shouldn't cost nearly that much. We called ARS for a second opinion. They came out promptly and fixed our broken drain for a third ($650) of what the other guy quoted us. I gave ARS a one-star review and several months later went into Yelp to see if it was there. It was not. I searched by name and date and it came up zero. I finally searched by "scam" and there it was, along with a generic response from ARS for me to call an out-of-town office to discuss the problem. We have had to call ARS twice to tackle plumbing issues. We have a mid century home with original cast iron pipes so they tend to clog easily. The service for a clogged pipe is always reliable and they have gotten the job done every time for a reasonable price. Where things derail is when they give you a quote for the permanent repairs post plumbing fix. The first call we had was for a backed up main line. Their bid was $17,000. Yes, you read that right - $17K. They offered a payment plan but when I asked for a break down of how they got to that figure, I was given very very vague answers. We got it repaired by another local company for $4500 and it is working great. Second plumbing back up, the fix they quoted was for $3500. I haven't gotten a second bid because it isn't an emergency like the sewer line had been. However, I am 100% confident that again I will realize we were given a hyper inflated bid. In other words, use them to clear your line in a pinch but do your homework very, very carefully before committing to one of their repairs. read more

I recently reached out via Home Depot for a quote to install a split A/C unit. After barraging me with a ridiculous number of calls to schedule an appointment (approximately 10 calls between 6am and noon) I finally set one up. I received an appointment confirmation text with a two hour window. The day of my appointment arrives, the two hour window comes and goes and... nothing. An hour after my appointment window had passed, I call to inform the company of the no-show. They try to reach the tech for an update but can't get ahold of him. I politely thanked them for wasting my Friday afternoon and said I was no longer interested in their services. An hour later I received a call from a confused sales rep offering to give me a quote for purchasing my unit. I (equally confused at this point) informed them again of the no-show, at which point the salesperson admitted they "have no idea what's going on" and ended the call. An hour later ANOTHER call from a customer service rep asking if my plumbing issue had been resolved (keep in mind, my call was in regards to an HVAC quote). "No sir... it has not been resolved..." I cannot speak to the quality of work from this company but can say without a doubt that there are serious internal communication and organizational issues and I would discourage anyone from putting their trust in a project with these folks. Terrible! Called for emergency service - which they advertise they provide. They gave me an appointment time for 9:00 a.m. the next day. Awesome - but they never showed up the next morning. I called at 10:00 a.m. they said they'd have someone there by noon and the technician would call before he came. At 12:30 still no one came and no calls. I called the customer service line again. They then told me my appointment was for 10:00 p.m. - no it was not and at this point I had spoken with several people about my morning appointment. Then she said oh it is because we can't come until the next day. So they tried to push me off a day after I had waited all morning. In the meantime I could have called another company if they would have been honest about their availability up front. It's almost two weeks later and we finally have every issue from a simple sewer line back up completed. Luckily, we decided not to spend the $12,000 for completely unnecessary work they wanted us to do. It started with a call just before 1pm on Sunday. No worries, we'll have someone there in two hours. Then in three hours. Then, he'll be there soon. Ben showed up around 5, couldn't find the main line pipe, so he pulled an upstairs toilet and sent his snake down that way. Except, he ended up not going down the pipe, but rather across and into the toilet in the bathroom behind the bathroom he was actually working on. He thought he had found a stubborn clog, so he revved up the motor on his machine, burst through the porcelain toilet, then revved it even more to yank it back out. When my asked if there should be such loud, explosive sounds, Ben told us that was normal, no worries, but his machine wasn't working anymore, so he'd have someone back out that night to finish snaking the line and he'd be back at 11am to replace the toilet. Three hours later, when I called wondering why I hadn't heard from them, the on duty woman said that she had not heard about this from Ben, and besides, they didn't have any techs available since it was Sunday night. 11am Monday morning passes. 1pm, the close of the window, passes. Apparently, Ben had some paperwork to do, then had to give a supervisor a lift home, but then he'd definitely be here as soon as he hit up Home Depot for a replacement toilet. 4pm arrives and he's finally here. He swapped out the toilet, but then had a mysterious issue with not one, but two machines, so he couldn't get the line unclogged. Around 7:30pm or so Monday night, Bob B showed up. He got the line unclogged but said he couldn't find a reason for the clog, so he'd have someone come out and scope the line to see what the problem was. Luther showed up two days later (after we received a call telling us that our first appointment needed to be cancelled since they "only have a couple guys who can use the cameras well." Wednesday morning, Luther showed up. He showed us some pictures of the 'belly' in our line. It was less than ten feet long, and located 80+ feet out from the house. It's a big problem, we'll keep having to get it cleared out, so we'd better drop $12k to get it fixed up. Sign here and we can start tomorrow. Don't worry, they have a payment plan. Ten years at $140 a month. We received no dvd of the scope. We were told the joints in the pipe were gaps that needed to be repaired. Luther had great difficulty distinguishing between our cast iron pipe and the clay pipe from the city. He completed missed that there was a third type of piping in the line. John from Mainline Services, LLC came out, scoped it to give us a second opinion, and told us that if he were inspecting it for us as home purchasers, he would tell us that it's in great shape, but needs annual maintenance like all 60 year old sewers do. When the toilet was exploded, pieces of porcelain shrapnel gouged our wall. It wasn't awful, but ARS did nothing about it until today. The supervisor, Kenan, was supposed to have called me over a week ago about how they were going to remedy it. He never called. Luckily, one of their customer service reps was willing to call their contractor to come over and fix it. Why couldn't, or wouldn't, anyone else do such a simple thing to take car of the problem. In sum, ARS Rescue Rooter has horrible customer service, seemingly incompetent techs, and prey on people in stressful situations to con you out of huge sums of money for completely unnecessary work. Allegedly this company provides emergency service and repair. I called with no heat (while it was 30 degrees outside) and the only thing the scheduler could offer was an appointment for seven days later. I explained calmly that I was willing to pay an after-hours fee, but that I could not go 7 days without heat. This did not matter, the only option the company would give me was the following week. If you are looking for a HVAC repair location urgently, look elsewhere. read more
