Arancini
Mari T.

I came here for dinner on a Saturday with a 5:30 PM reservation. I ordered a glass of red, the Arancini, focaccia which came with roasted garlic, the rigatoni with a Ragu and a chocolate budino. I went with someone who had two glasses of wine and the pasta special. The total was about $110 just to give you an idea of how much two appetizers, three glasses of wine, two entrées and one dessert are. The food was delicious, but definitely a bit overpriced. The service was great. We were able to sit there until 10 PM and not rushed to leave. Would definitely come back for a special occasion. We were seated right near the bathroom, which was not the best, but otherwise it has a very cozy feel.

The Italian sub at Arrigo's is so good! It's on the pricier side but I've split one between two people for lunch and it's a good amount of food. I usually place an order online and by the time I walk over (it's about 10 minutes from where I live), it's ready. We've also enjoyed their meatball sub. They were offering a shrimp cocktail for a while and it was so refreshing. Huge shrimp, horseradish-y cocktail sauce, what's not to love? The arancini also make a nice snack. Glad to have Arrigo's in our lunchtime rotation. Excited to try out their dinner service once that opens up.

Another instant hit for Ridgewood, this is an amazing new sandwich and pasta shop from the Daphne's team. I got there at noon after an 11am opening and they were already out of cutlets, so you know the neighborhood came out in full force. I tried 4 sandwiches on the excellent, crusty semolina, and all were great. The winner was the Shaved Ribeye, but there are still so many more I need to try. Don't forget the pasta too, the Vodka Rigatoni was among the best I've had recently. They will start a seasonal rotating dinner menu soon too, so I'll definitely be back at all hours.

Always looking for a good Italian sandwich shop. And this was pretty good! I'll say the menu could be a bit more diverse as there wasn't so much I was interested in. But I think what we got was great! We started with the arancini, which was easily my favorite part of the meal. Don't usually love arancini but I think think the flavoring of this was delightful. Cacio e pepe was the flavor of the day. Sandies: - Shaved rib eye: I'll say my favorite part of either sandi was the bread and this was just a skosh too soggy for the bread. The meat was good but I'm not sure what was so spicy about the flavoring? Maybe the marinated peppers. - Italian combo: simple, classic, easy. Definitely my preferred of the two. Admittedly on the expensive side. And took a little bit long for what it was. Considered by one to go for a meal the next day but ultimately think it was better we cut ourselves off at these. Would come back for more options and hope that they do rotate their options around a bit.

AMAZING !! Love finding such cute hidden gems, especially in ridgewood. We came here on a date night and the wait was 30 mins -which wasn't so bad for a really small restaurant. The host greeted us very nicely and felt welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and still dreaming about it! During the day it's a sandwich shop, which I have not tried yet but definitely will in the future- and at night they are offering a weekly dinner menu. We've had their duck ragu and the calamari trotolle and wowwww both were so rich in flavor and just cooked to perfection. Can't pick a favorite! For starters we tried their scallop crudo and just like the grilled sourdough it was just amazing! I honestly have nothing to complain. We also wanted to try their roasted half chicken and although by this time we were stuffed, we did enjoy a couple of bites and then packed it to go and it was even better the next day! As per dessert both was so delicious-olive oil soft serve and chocolate budino. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend to give it a try!

Omg such a delicious sandwich, simple with premium ingredients, costly but you know what you are paying for . Friendly staff, and simple decor makes this place my new favorite.

my husband & I split the Chicken Parm & the Shaved Rib Eye. wow the rib eye is so good, everything in there was juicy and well balanced. love the porcini vinaigrette & marinated peppers

Karl M.

I had the Eggplant Parm sandwich. It was very good, very fresh. The bread work so well and the pesto made it.

Menu

Really good sandwich but they shouldn't cut the end of the bread off but the ribeye was on the money with the hot peppers

The open kitchen, and look at that bread!

Their ravioli are outstanding, once you've had them, you'll find yourself walking right past the refrigerator case at your local supermarket. They also prepare a wide range of Italian specialties, including eggplant parmigiana and rollatini, along with lasagna and a variety of chicken and veal dishes. While I tend to gravitate toward certain favorites, the overall quality and care are evident throughout. Go early, especially around the holidays, as it can get quite busy. And don't miss the ravioli, along with their other fresh pastas like cavatelli and rigatoni. They also offer a great selection of specialty pastas in frozen form, which are well worth having on hand. Which disappointed me. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs, penne à la vodka with chicken, fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and mozzarella sticks. The best out of all of them was the mozzarella stick sticks. The service was OK. The place is small and there's only like four benches to sit. I did notice there was a sign that said there is more seating at Elio's. I do not really recommend this restaurant for its pasta if you're looking for something super savory. But if you're looking for something fast and filling then maybe you could give it a shot.

If you're in a pinch and would like to quickly eat some type of pasta that isn't fancy for takeout, this is the place to go to as there's no one really serving you. I walked inside, and there was no one to greet me. I think there's only one person working here who does everything. Once the person came out with someone's order, he explained everything to me, on how to figure out what to order and etc. I didn't really understand what he was saying, but I tried my best and repeated things back to him if there was a question. I followed the photos and what was written on the black menu by the wall. I ordered the small mama's bolognese. It is Reginette with marinara sauce with meat inside and has roasted garlic and parmesan. The employee asked me what size and if I wanted everything, or if I should alter anything. All in all, I'm not sure I'll be going back as the food didn't stand out to me.

I walked through this whole place with someone else, giggling with glee. I saw meat bread (lard bread), I saw a deli counter with delicious cold cuts & ham nobody pronounces right, and homemade salads, and smiling friendly folks behind the counter, and fresh SMOKED mozzarella (motz), which I've been missing ever since I moved to Jersey. There was fresh meats, pasta, fish, and ring sausage, cannoli, and homemade sauces, and pre-cooked Italian dishes for the folks who wanna try it all, but not make it themselves. Plus bottled and canned items I remembered as a kid, and most straight from Italy. The whole place smelled like parmesan cheese, and felt warm. All that was missing was the sawdust on the floors. lol (yeah I'm old). I bought pasta, their sauce, smoked motz, and parmesan parsley sausage links and made a nice dinner for my friend, enough to pig out and store for another day. The meat bread was heavenly, and if they don't have it every time I enter that place, I swear I'll cry. Their homemade sauce was perfection, and the sausage??? FUGGIT ABOWD IT! I bow to you Iavarone. They started us with some bread and marinara sauce and the sauce definitely opened up our appetite and had us anticipating of what's to come. I can't explain it, you'll have to put that cheese on the baked bread, then eat it together with the mushrooms to experience what we experienced.... Soooo good!! And we also had a bowl of meatballs lol it was good~ but nothing to write home about. Now for the Pastas, I got their signature Fuzi folding noodles with veal sauce and my daughter got the rigatoni à la vodka. They were both great!!! Their pasta has great texture with a fantastic clean taste and the sauce were subtle, fragrant and delicious.
