At last the wait is over. Today was the grand opening. I've been waiting for this for months! Of course there was a wait to be seated. 3.5 on atmosphere as this is pretty much the only "sports" friendly bar in Patchogue. Meaning they have the volume up, and not only on NFL games. Shareable food and interesting menu ideas, I think perhaps too many options, hard to do everything well, as nothing we've had was excellent. The Grilled cheese with prime rib was good but I've had better at an Irish restaurant very near to this place. My buddy had a pretzel burger. I have only come here for drinks so I can not speak for the food but this is a fun place! Bar tenders have always been friendly and they make strong drinks. Something cool you should try is their "trash can" drink. It is a concoction of multiple alcohols in a pitcher with a red bull can at the top. It's something fun to try! And if you can finish it you will certainly feel it. When I am out I'm not concerned with how a restaurant is set up, all I know is you walk in and the bar is right there. Great! Time to order my drink. If you walk around the bar which is in the center, there is an open area for dancing, or more space to talk and meet new people. They have music playing and tvs all around with sports on, a great hang out spot whether it is 8pm or 12am. Surprisingly the bathrooms are clean, you would think after a night of drinking the women's rest room may not be a pretty sight but they kept it neat. I've both ordered to-go and dined in at Arooga's. It's an elevated Applebee's or TGIF of sorts. The single time I dined in, the bar area was packed. I believe a game was on. We were sat in the back dining room, and felt both ignored, and rushed when we were actually being serviced. 4 starts because I love their greasy food, when you've got a craving for something gluttonous! I've had everything from their Mozzarella Triangles and Loaded Fries, to the Pretzel Bacon Burger and Original Wings in Parmesan Garlic. Worst bar in patchogue- management was incredibly rude. Don't bother unless you want to pay $10 for juice. Bartenders pay more attention to their phones then the customers. Back of house is disgusting and the majority of the line is employed with high school kids getting minimum wage. They just suck. I've given Arooga's so many chances to turn it around - yeah the food is garbage but you gotta expect that at a chain restaurant like this- more importantly they are rude. I don't want to go somewhere to get bad service to get ignored and to be treated like my money isn't good. I've been here four times and the only thing I like is the large amount of space. It's a huge venue so you'll never have a problem finding a seat, at least I haven't. The food is your typical bar food and isn't even that good for being typical bar food. I had a grilled cheese and tomato soup one time and I didn't like the grilled cheese. I love grilled cheese in a way that could be questionable-I don't need some fancy sandwich, I literally love all grilled cheese. The fact that I wasn't a fan of theirs definitely alerted my cheese senses, and not in a good way. The soup, however, was good. They have a good happy hour special that is M-Th until 7pm? It's half off all drinks, so if you are looking to strictly get drinks on a fine dime then that is one really great deal IMO. Now for the real reason I have a sour taste in my mouth about this place, other than the taste I got when drinking their margaritas. They ask you for a card to hold when you are at the bar. That is fine. The problem I have is that they automatically charge you 20 dollars (without telling you-happened twice to us). It then takes about 2-3 days for the 20 dollars to return to your card, and this isn't including your bill and tip charge. It's an additional 20 dollar insurance charge, essentially. If I was told this initially I wouldn't have minded but the failure to tell the customer seems unethical. Also, the reason I strongly have an issue is because when this first happened to my boyfriend and me, we believed the bartender charged us incorrectly. We got home and he looked at his statements and saw two separate charges. We called the next day and the girl who answered the phone (she believed she was our bartender), said that she didn't give us the "special deal price," so she had to correct it. She said that the first charge (wrong price) would be credited back in a few days. However, neither charged price was our check amount that we saw when physically there. And a couple of days later the money was put back onto our card. When we went in another night with friends and I saw that the bartender did the $20 charge again, we wanted some clarification about it because we couldn't understand how another bartender would incorrectly charge us, we thought that was a rare coincidence. The male bartender explained to us that the bar does it because they've had people walk away from their bill, which is understandable, IF the bartenders are letting the customers know beforehand. What became strange for us was the fact that the previous female bartender on the phone gave us an entirely different reason as to why we had two separate charges. All-around there was no consistency in the reasons as to why they need to charge customers $20 before they even charge them for their actual bill and there's no reason why that $20 is not released once you have paid your bill in full. Rather you have to wait a few days. Moral of the story folks, pay cash. read more

Upon arrival at the restaurant the security at the door was so rude and arrogant. A simple how can I help you would have been fine. This man at the door tells me your gonna have a long wait. Tells me the restaurant doesn't have a waitlist. He wouldn't even let me in the door to check in with the hostess. As I was directed to do when I waitlisted our party. He went and got another security guard who was just as rude as he was. The food was good the waiter was very tentative. Had I just been walking up to this restaurant I would have walked away. The staff seem to only care about socializing with eachother more then checking in on us. Our waitress seem bothered to even come over to our table. She didn't even want to speak to us. Wow. We arrived at this bar yesterday around 10 pm for beer and late meal. We ordered beer at the bar and a couple baskets of fries to get us started while we looked over the menu. We were invited by the hosts to sit at the back tables. Within a minute of sitting down a young manager girl comes over and (without any better way to describe it) starts YELLING AT US for sitting at the table. We didn't even have time to process what was happening. My husband tried to explain how we were planning on eating and drinking and the host said we could sit but we're not given menus yet and she accused us of "just lying to [her]" to sit at the tables. The tables were largely empty at the time and only got more empty while we were there. She finally left us alone to order our meals with the server and she could be seen crossed-armed, staring at us and talking about us to the security and servers. The girl was so nasty I still cannot believe that this person was a manager in the service industry. Mind you, we are all mature adults and we're not in anyway being rowdy or disrespectful. First off, this restaurant was a HORRIBLE addition to Patchogue. It draws such a terribly trashy crowd. There are always fights outside. And apparently the cooks don't know what there doing because they have set off the fire alarms TWICE making us residents upstairs in new village have to evacuate the building. One time was during a snow storm in the middle of the night. And the second..today..on Mother's Day. The food is horrible. The staff is unfriendly and the place smells of straight up bleach when you walk in. The bartenders have no idea how to smile or have any customer service skills. I LOVE this place. I come here a lot during football season, recently came in and I'm not sure if it's because of the pandemic or because it was around 3pm but there was one girl behind the bar and seems to be doing EVERYTHING by herself. Service took a bit but that was fine because she was doing the best she could, greeting everyone when they came in, taking everyone's order and getting them all drinks. Food was great, I got a brunch burger and the burger was cooked perfectly, the fries were great. The only thing I hated, and why I rated 4 stars instead of 5 are the number of BEES behind the bar and swarming around people. Stopped in for some dinner and a drink with some friends. It was an august night and it was hot inside no air conditioning. When we asked what's the deal with no A.C. We were told that the owner spend a lot of money on the open air windows and wants the staff to utilize them . Service was pretty prompt. Drinks came and we were not impressed. Didn't understand the reason for the washed up bouncers (5) at the door the crowd was pretty chill. The price was a little high for the quality of the drinks and the food. The manager comped us on the wine with the lipstick on it thanks but ( not enough ). And the A.C. did come on as we were leaving. Sorry but this place was one and done for me. Food came out almost an hour later than we ordered. The kids order 10 minutes after all the adults were served. Our burgers were dry and not even warm. Our "chocolate shakes" were vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup around the mason jar.Boneless wings over cooked and drowned In Sauce. Our waitress came to our table 3 times: take the order, to give us straws and to give us the check.
