We live close and have been going to the Grill since it opened. From our experience, since the new owners took over about a year ago, it improved. We have gone there several times for breakfast and it was great. Food was fast, service was good and the orders were correct. Tonight, we took friends there and told them how great it was. That was a mistake. The server was more concerned about chatting with co-workers and bar patrons than making sure we were taken care of. I ordered pasta with a different sauce than what was on the menu. My pasta came out with the wrong sauce and when I brought it up the servers response was "I think that's what you ordered but just watered down by the seafood". Nope. I knew it was wrong which is why I sent it back. She took it back and it came out with a different sauce but not what I anticipated or what I've always ordered. My husband ordered a pizza with a friend egg on it. His pizza came out with scrambled eggs on it. Our friends ordered chicken tenders with fries for their 2 year old. When her food didn't come out and all of ours had, the server told us that her chicken and fries would be right out. The tenders came out and a few minutes later she brought fruit. When we asked about the babies fries, the server acted surprised when we said we ordered fries for the kiddo. They're getting 3 stars from us because we know the potential is there but tonight was a bad experience and consistency is key, especially in the restaurant business. Was driving through town and got a bite to eat from what appears to be the only spot in town! Food was solid with good portions - it's not quite "I'm stuffed" but the portion size is respectable. Decent atmosphere - you can tell that it's a friendly-to-locals spot. Lots of great parking and it had a very relaxed atmosphere. Okay this place is GREAT! We had amazing food! Buffalo chicken salad was great. Highly recommend salads as produce is super fresh and locally sourced. Chicken was pretty food too. I would get grilled instead if fried and I added bacon. There was no blue cheese on my salad but I didn't complain. My husband had tri tip sandwich.. oh yeah that was good! So so good! Sadly, Aromas Grill is no longer the go to place for delicious food. I've ordered three times for pick up and each time my order was incorrect. My last encounter with Aromas Grill came as yet another disappointment when I requested a fajita salad at dinner time. Unfortunately, the waitress advised that the lunch menu is not served at dinner time. Honestly, when catering to such a niche market or small community I don't think it wise that the owner minimize menu options. I think I'm done attempting to eat at this place for now. read more

This was my second visit to Aromas Grill. The first time I visited was on a soft opening night so service was a bit slow but that was a given. This time around I ordered the melted nachos platter which came with black beans, homemade guac, salsa, and sour cream. It was the perfect combination of crunchy texture and flavor. The bf ordered the margherita pizza. It was a good size for 2 people. They also had a Stella, Modelo, Shock top on tap. Can't have pizza without beer right?! We finished our meal with a yummy fruit and vanilla cream pavlova. Enjoyed a great meal in a small town. Will have to come back to try the angus burger! It states they close at 9 but that's the time the kitchen close...bar is still open. If you are strolling through town or want a drink, stop by. read more

Went for lunch on a cold, windy Friday afternoon. Didn't have any issues with rude waitstaff -actually had a friendly waitress who treated us well- or the place being too loud (saw the stuffed beaver too but it was outside, not on the inside counter) and by the time we left, the small diningroom was beginning to fill up. Looked like mostly locals too. That's a good sign imho. Very small inside, maybe a dozen tables (?) but clean and simply decorated. Bathroom was very clean too. My husband commented that the interior looked like it may have been a Mexican restaurant at one time. Basic lunchtime menu with burgers, sandwiches, pizza, etc. There is a very nice bar and a few big screen TVs, definitely a a place to consider to watch a 49ers game with friends and the locals. I tried the turkey club with a fresh side salad instead of french fries with blue cheese dressing on the side. First, the turkey looked like real sliced breast meat, fresh lettuce, tomato and just the right amount of avocado (misspelled on the menu BTW) but the bacon was cold and a tad undercooked for my taste; still a little jiggly fat, not crispy and also not very flavorful considering it was bacon. Second, the white bread was very dry and it wasn't because of it being toasted. Third, the salad dressing had a garlicky taste to it, not much bleu cheese flavor at all. Husband had the red snapper sandwich, also with a side salad instead of french fries. He thought it was excellent. Portion sizes are good. They have an extremely small wine list but husband found a Pinot to his liking. Some excellent beers on tap behind the bar too. An oatmeal stout sounded good but I was the designated driver so that will have to wait until next time. Maybe dinner. Will definitely return to try some of the dinner specials (or the lunch burgers) and mingle with the locals. read more

I live in the area, but travel all over so I know good food, and this place is, well, good. Its got solid waitstaff, good cooks, and obviously a manager who knows more than your average small town restaurant does. Restaurants in little towns like this usually are terrible, but being the only gig around they survive. The Aromas Grill has not fallen prey to this curse, they work the place like they had competition all around. They deserve major kudos for that. My only complaint would be the small things I have with most any restaurant but the very finest. 1. If you order the steak "Rare" serve it rare, not medium well. 2. Price, sell it a little cheaper and you will get us in more often. The price was good, but at $50 bucks for two of us being moderate on our intake it felt a bit pricey, for the neighborhood. That's all the complaints I have, and I am pretty well traveled. Oh, for the record, the Fried Artichoke hearts are a must have, they are just about perfect, the portion was almost enough for me, but I am a glutton. If you are anywhere near Watsonville, Prunedale, San Juan Bautista, this place is worth the trip. Heck even if you are way down in Salinas this place beats most joints down there. read more

When I arrived at the aromas grill I was greatest by Sal, the owner. I guess I didn't look like the locals.... Or maybe he just was seeing a questioning look on my face! I had come there with a differently abled person who needed a clear path to his seat. Sal seated us in front, and had not one, but three suggestions for transporting this semi ambulatory person to our table . Jazmine was a superior waitress and she was very attentive and personable! The all meat pizza was awesome and quite a bargain at 14 dollars! I ordered the grilled vegetable salad and I can honestly say it was the best salad I've EVER had in a restaurant!!!!! I also has the Aromas grill combo of steak chicken and shrimp!!! Wow ! Perfectly cooked and just the right temperature to make it melt in your mouth!!!! If you like to ride your motorcycle over to San Jose, I recommend stopping here for a great snack or meal! This is a cute little place in the "heart of town." We had the seafood quesadillas and found them to be too mushy because of the overabundance of crab meat. The fettuccini with red snapper was very flavorful - the creamy sauce with sun-dried tomato was the perfect combo. Our wait staff was very friendly but a bit absentminded. We never got plates for our appetizers or pizza. I'd love to come back and try their other pasta dishes some time. read more

Just dropped in our rotation! We believe in shopping and eating local and Aromas Grill was one of our favorites!! The service has always been sorely in need and hughly inattentive however the food good. We realize the prices have gone up everywhere but Aromas doesn't seem to be wanting for customers if they can purchase new service dishes then raise the prices over 30% and iced tea $2.70 !!! No refills on the iced tea because the help never is attentive enough to offer! Maybe if they did check on us I would of been able to mention the fact that my bacon cheese burger lacked bacon! Ate here this past week for lunch. Our food was good - clam chowder, wings, burgers & fries. The fries were really nice and crisp actually! Our waitress was very sweet, but it seems waitstaff has not really been trained. Also, our food wasn't up at the same time, so food got cold waiting for everyone to have their meal. With better timing and more coordinated service (bring condiments and check all drinks for refills on the same trip, rather than only checking/refilling one drink per stop by the table) I'd rate this at least 4 stars. This was a great find! We feasted on delicious fried snapper fish tacos and grilled snapper fish sandwiches. They had an extensive menu including pizzas, burgers, sandwiches etc. Huge portions and very reasonable pricing. Good local beer selection. Service was fast and friendly. Also they had a beautiful outdoor patio to dine Al fresco. Lastly, clean bathrooms are always a plus! Would definitely recommend for anyone passing through for a reasonable, quality flavorful and fresh meal. read more

Went with family last night. atmosphere has changed a lot.... Music was very loud and some songs had cuss words in it not suitable for younger children. The food was subpar and not how I remember it being in the past. Ordered a chicken sandwich which was hard to find in the large bun. very small portion. Was supposed to have sauteed mushrooms but there was some kind of gooey mess in between not sure what it was.didn't look like mushrooms. Came home and did not feel well.. still do not feel well the next day and have some stomach issues going on. Pretty sure it was from the food last night at the grill. We were on our way to visit UCSC and had to use the restroom. We made a stop at the nearest restaurant and it was Aromas Grill. The restrooms are so clean! It's a small mom and pop restaurant. I was a little worried about how the food would taste, but to my surprise the food was amazing! The waitress also is very polite, nice, and very attentive. I had the Turkey Club Sandwich with garlic fries. The garlic fries taste fresh and amazing! My sandwich tasted very fresh and it was good. My kids and my husband had chicken strips and they taste so natural! I believe this is because their batter is made from scratch. My oldest son had bacon and cheese fries and he loved them. My father in law had the classic cheeseburger and he said it was also good and the fries were very crispy and tasty. I'm from the Los Angeles area and unfortunately, I don't think I can think of a place to eat that has such fresh tasting food like this near me (I live in Downey). My only complaint was my apple juice. It tasted a little weird. Overall I think this place is amazing! read more

I love ordering from Aromas Grill because the food is good and I'm supporting our local restaurant. However, I have been disappointed for the 3rd time now. They need to change the hours on their website showing that they close at 8 o'clock now and not 9 o'clock. They also need to stay open until 8 o'clock since that is what they are telling people. I've come two times, before 8 o'clock, to order and am told, sorry we closed early because we were slow. Tonight I ordered online, , which is what they said they prefer, at 7:43 and show up at 7:59 to pick up and was told, oh sorry we were slow and closed early. I told them I had placed an order and showed my screenshot and was told, sorry, we shut the order machine off at 7:30. So frustrating!!! Heres the thing, I love Aromas. I grew up here and want to support its few local businesses. I won't lie, I'll probably go there again for an emergency pizza ($$$$), but I feel like it has so much more potential then where its at. First off, I would consider the grill to be a bit pricey. I realize its the only actual restaraunt in town, but still. Second, its the only bar in town and its beer selection is poor. How about rotating local craft brews on tap? So many good options around us, Elkhorn Slough Brewery, Corralitos Brewery, Brewery 25, etc. It'd also be cool if it was more like a coffee ship in the earlier part of the day. I guess im turning this more into suggestions than a review, but I have many! I'll try it again, but I hope the owner reads these and takes things into consideration. read more

I was surprised to find a place with such friendly staff and good food tucked away in Aromas. Adding to the charm, it was an artist weekend and there were talented people sharing their art at many of the homes. Aromas is still country enough that folks ride their horses into town and tie them in the shaded park while they grab an ice cream. Best upscale restaurant in Aromas. But then it is the only one. It is a small restaurant and sometimes they can get a unplanned for sizable crowd. So be patient with service. I like their steak.
