Bone-in Pork Chop - quite good
Terry C.

The Lunch Menu ends at 3 pm -- Sharp! Even if one walks in a few minutes after three o'clock, dinner does not start until 4 pm, yet one must order from their Dinner Menu. Dinner selections come with a salad and bread service, both of which left something to be desired. Both salads were small and lacking, but did include one-half of a cherry tomato. We were told the bread would not arrive for 20 more minutes, as it was still baking. Their Lobster Ravioli was rather disappointing as it was a very small portion and the ravioli was not well-filled. A couple of shrimp are included on the side of this dish. This is perhaps to make up for the absent lobster meat. On a positive note, the thick-cut pork chop had a good flavor but was not succulent. Roasted potatoes and spinach drenched the dish with onion rosemary-mustard red wine sauce.

Pear bread pudding

Came in on a Saturday night, this place filled up really quick. My whole experience was great! I got the grilled salmon and my man got the prime rib steak, for appetizers we got calamari and for dessert we got the pear bread pudding. Everything was delicious! The food was 10/10, the service was 10/10- our server Donna was so sweet and amazing. However for cocktails I got an old fashion and it tasted very watered down. Overall my experience was amazing, I would come back if I was in the area.

Review update: I've been coming to The Grower's Pub for 9 years. I am still wildly impressed as they fail to disappoint. While the menu has changed over time along with the staff--one this is for sure... quality has never waivered. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent and you simply can't duplicate this experience anywhere else. I look forward to every visit here with friends or family and I highly recommend it to anyone who has had the misfortune of never experiencing it. I'm just updating this review to say... it's still phenomenally good!

4.5 Lived in Salinas about 8 years now and we've always said that we should try this place. It's just that the outside looks kinda dumpy, the sign broken at some point, and we don't go to bars and looked more like a bar. So, it was never high on our list. FINALLY went today! And surprised to see that it was nice in the inside. And has the original bar that's unique. The dining area was away from the bar and it wasn't loud, like being at Chilli's. The food was really good. Hubby got the Ribeye, his favorite cut and usually picky about it. And this was a winner to him. I enjoyed my Halibut. Also got the calamari as an appetizer, it wasn't rubbery and it was good, but I've had better. The salad that came with dinner could be better, and the blue cheese was on the "sweeter" side which is not for me. Hence the 4.5, the service was excellent! They clear out your tables pretty quick and the drinks filled promptly. We took home a carrot cake. It's not going to win any awards, but it was enjoyable. Nothing over powering in it, and it was moist. Would definitely come back again. You should give it a try!

This is a really nice pub! It has a vintage feel to it. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The porkchop was also fabulous. Service was wonderful. The prices were reasonable given that this is an upscale pub.

Prime rib

Went in at 6ish yesterday. No wait. Great variety of food and service was great. We tried the evening special lemon halibut with risotto, skirt steaks, prime rib and chicken tender. Everything were great!

Finally made it to The Growers Pub and it did NOT disappoint! The location is easy to get to, parking is good, the inside is spotless and clean in my eyes . Bathrooms are cute. My boss and coworkers have been raving about this place for the longest time, and I finally decided to come check it out for myself during lunch. Safe to say, I completely understand the hype now and I don't regret it one bit! I ordered the fries with steak bites and they were absolutely delicious. Now here's the thing , I am not a dessert person. I almost never order dessert anywhere I go, but something told me to give the brownie a try, and wow, I am so glad I did. Finger licking good doesn't even begin to cover it. That alone is worth the trip! But what really made the experience stand out was my server, Jasmine A . She was a solid 10 out of 10 incredibly friendly, attentive, and just an overall joy to be served by. I am someone who takes customer service very seriously, and Jasmine is exactly the kind of energy every restaurant needs more of. She genuinely made the whole experience even better. If you're reading this and on the fence about coming don't hesitate. The food is amazing, the service is top tier, and it is absolutely worth every single penny. This won't be my last visit, that's for sure!

Growers Pub - Old Town Salinas If you're ever craving classic steakhouse vibes with top-tier flavor, this is your spot. We kicked things off with their crispy Coconut Shrimp--perfectly golden and paired with a sweet chili mango sauce that hits just right. I went with the Prime Rib, and it was everything a cut of beef should be--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. My wife ordered the Flat Iron Steak topped with blue cheese and wine sauce--bold, rich, and cooked perfectly. And yes, we saved room for dessert. Their Bread Pudding with ice cream? A must. Warm, gooey, and drizzled in caramel--it was the perfect sweet finish. Service was solid, ambiance was relaxed, and the food was straight-up fire. Definitely coming back. It's been many years since my last visit, back when I was engaged, but I had been hoping to return this year. Some of my favorite memories are from this place. The wine was always wonderful, but what truly made it special were the people. Anna, her husband, and their son Steph were some of the kindest and most welcoming people you could meet. They made every visit feel personal and memorable, and their warmth was a big part of why so many people loved coming here. Thank you for the memories, the hospitality, and the great wine over the years. You will be missed.

He was patient and knew the menu, and offered options when he saw our reactions as we tried to decide. The chef even walked out and offered to make the bolognese from scratch and omit the mushrooms. From start to finish the whole Mangia team was great, and it made me happy to see how they treated one another. The dishwasher came up a few times to swap the trays and everyone got along, and I noticed the chef made them each something to eat as the restaurant was closing. As for the food, good Salinas option. The Nonna appetizer was a bruschetta with pistacho, fresh ricotta, and honey. Delicious. Beet salad was good, hearty beets, mixed greens, and balsamic. It was over dressed for my taste, but hubby loved it. I wasn't a huge fan the cheese they used, it was a harder salty cheese in small cubes. I got the penne with a really subtle lemon cream sauce, grilled chicken, and broccoli. Came out hot and it was a generous portion, waiter offered some fresh cheese so took that of course. I'd order it again, but don't think it was the best pasta dish I have ever had. Chicken Parmesan was cooked fresh, and came with the penne and marina. In my opinion the marina was under seasoned, but I'm generally heavy on the garlic and basil. I don't know I'd label it as a culinary hot spot, but the food was good, and made by good people. I appreciate the atmosphere and we will definitely be back.

The restaurant has a great drink selection and a great menu. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they offer a Tuesday dinner special that includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for only $32! This menu also had a special drink selection. I ordered the house salad, prawn risotto, and chocolate lava cake. The salad was very fresh with spring mix and butter lettuce, which I especially enjoy, and it was topped with a light vinaigrette style house dressing that was light and delicious. The prawn risotto was creamy, flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The chocolate lava cake was rich and very chocolatey, a bit too rich for my personal taste, but still enjoyable. It also came with vanilla gelato, which was delicious. As a table, we also ordered the tableside tiramisu, which was such a fun and unique experience. I am a tiramisu connoisseur, so anytime I see it on the menu, I ordered it. It is my favorite dessert. Although this was not my favorite one, I very much enjoyed the experience. I will mention the espresso needs a little more time to fully soak into the ladyfingers, but the presentation and experience alone made it worth trying. The ambiance was lovely with nice background music, and the service was attentive and welcoming. Everyone in our party truly enjoyed their meal, especially the birthday girl. Overall, Patria is a fantastic dinner spot in Salinas, and I would absolutely return and highly recommend it.

We ordered avocado toast, French toast, banana pecan pancake, house potatoes, and an Aperol spritzer. My avocado toast was served on a single very thick piece of bread, which had a very generous amount of avocado smash and was topped off with this delightful and fresh arugula salad. I added an over easy egg for an extra charge that was the perfect balance. The house salad was simple with butter lettuce, cherry tomatoes, radish, cucumber, with a light lemon house dressing that brought the salad together. It was refreshing. The French toast is pretty standard. Nothing that particularly stood out. The banana pecan pancake was delicious and shared with everyone at the table. The house potatoes were extra crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, which I found particularly satisfying.
