Bone-in Pork Chop - quite good
Terry C.

The Lunch Menu ends at 3 pm -- Sharp! Even if one walks in a few minutes after three o'clock, dinner does not start until 4 pm, yet one must order from their Dinner Menu. Dinner selections come with a salad and bread service, both of which left something to be desired. Both salads were small and lacking, but did include one-half of a cherry tomato. We were told the bread would not arrive for 20 more minutes, as it was still baking. Their Lobster Ravioli was rather disappointing as it was a very small portion and the ravioli was not well-filled. A couple of shrimp are included on the side of this dish. This is perhaps to make up for the absent lobster meat. On a positive note, the thick-cut pork chop had a good flavor but was not succulent. Roasted potatoes and spinach drenched the dish with onion rosemary-mustard red wine sauce.

Bread, butter and a wonderfully fresh salad with mango vinaigrette !

Review update: I've been coming to The Grower's Pub for 9 years. I am still wildly impressed as they fail to disappoint. While the menu has changed over time along with the staff--one this is for sure... quality has never waivered. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent and you simply can't duplicate this experience anywhere else. I look forward to every visit here with friends or family and I highly recommend it to anyone who has had the misfortune of never experiencing it. I'm just updating this review to say... it's still phenomenally good!

Pear bread pudding

Came in on a Saturday night, this place filled up really quick. My whole experience was great! I got the grilled salmon and my man got the prime rib steak, for appetizers we got calamari and for dessert we got the pear bread pudding. Everything was delicious! The food was 10/10, the service was 10/10- our server Donna was so sweet and amazing. However for cocktails I got an old fashion and it tasted very watered down. Overall my experience was amazing, I would come back if I was in the area.

4.5 Lived in Salinas about 8 years now and we've always said that we should try this place. It's just that the outside looks kinda dumpy, the sign broken at some point, and we don't go to bars and looked more like a bar. So, it was never high on our list. FINALLY went today! And surprised to see that it was nice in the inside. And has the original bar that's unique. The dining area was away from the bar and it wasn't loud, like being at Chilli's. The food was really good. Hubby got the Ribeye, his favorite cut and usually picky about it. And this was a winner to him. I enjoyed my Halibut. Also got the calamari as an appetizer, it wasn't rubbery and it was good, but I've had better. The salad that came with dinner could be better, and the blue cheese was on the "sweeter" side which is not for me. Hence the 4.5, the service was excellent! They clear out your tables pretty quick and the drinks filled promptly. We took home a carrot cake. It's not going to win any awards, but it was enjoyable. Nothing over powering in it, and it was moist. Would definitely come back again. You should give it a try!

This is a really nice pub! It has a vintage feel to it. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The porkchop was also fabulous. Service was wonderful. The prices were reasonable given that this is an upscale pub.

Prime rib

Went in at 6ish yesterday. No wait. Great variety of food and service was great. We tried the evening special lemon halibut with risotto, skirt steaks, prime rib and chicken tender. Everything were great!

Finally made it to The Growers Pub and it did NOT disappoint! The location is easy to get to, parking is good, the inside is spotless and clean in my eyes . Bathrooms are cute. My boss and coworkers have been raving about this place for the longest time, and I finally decided to come check it out for myself during lunch. Safe to say, I completely understand the hype now and I don't regret it one bit! I ordered the fries with steak bites and they were absolutely delicious. Now here's the thing , I am not a dessert person. I almost never order dessert anywhere I go, but something told me to give the brownie a try, and wow, I am so glad I did. Finger licking good doesn't even begin to cover it. That alone is worth the trip! But what really made the experience stand out was my server, Jasmine A . She was a solid 10 out of 10 incredibly friendly, attentive, and just an overall joy to be served by. I am someone who takes customer service very seriously, and Jasmine is exactly the kind of energy every restaurant needs more of. She genuinely made the whole experience even better. If you're reading this and on the fence about coming don't hesitate. The food is amazing, the service is top tier, and it is absolutely worth every single penny. This won't be my last visit, that's for sure!

Growers Pub - Old Town Salinas If you're ever craving classic steakhouse vibes with top-tier flavor, this is your spot. We kicked things off with their crispy Coconut Shrimp--perfectly golden and paired with a sweet chili mango sauce that hits just right. I went with the Prime Rib, and it was everything a cut of beef should be--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. My wife ordered the Flat Iron Steak topped with blue cheese and wine sauce--bold, rich, and cooked perfectly. And yes, we saved room for dessert. Their Bread Pudding with ice cream? A must. Warm, gooey, and drizzled in caramel--it was the perfect sweet finish. Service was solid, ambiance was relaxed, and the food was straight-up fire. Definitely coming back. I was pleased to see that they did have something other than the Howzit Punch in to-go 4-packs (Tayberry Cream). I got a Caesar salad and a Pig & Fig pizza - Caesar salad was as expected and the Pig & Fig was really good! I think I just didn't order the right things for me last time. The only downside to this visit was that service was a little hit or miss. I used the QR code to order and while one waitress did stop by and check if I had any questions at the start, as the lunch rush started, it was really hard to get the two waitress's attention. Because I had closed out, I thought that I could get a box for my leftovers when they delivered the 4-pack to me, but I had to wave one of them down for a box and she said I could grab a 4-pack on my way out, since she saw that I had already paid. A little odd! Still would come back to pick up sours when I'm in the area, but maybe I'll sit at the bar next time...?

I'm extremely disappointed with how we were treated. We've been regular customers, and this…read moreexperience completely changed how we view this place. Someone in our group took a photo behind the bar, and instead of handling the situation professionally, the bartender immediately became rude and escalated things. We were asked to leave, which is one thing--but what made the situation worse was that my card was still swiped and we were never served any drinks. After that, the bartender continued talking about us and involved another bartender, which turned into an unnecessary scene and got us kicked out. The interaction felt disrespectful, targeted, and completely unprofessional. If there was an issue with taking a picture, that could have been communicated respectfully instead of creating a hostile situation. As regulars, we expected better treatment and better customer service.

I've been to a lot of bars in my life, some of the "diviest" bars in America…read more There is a lady that bartends at night at the Kings Den that is one of the absolute worst bartenders I've ever experienced in my entire life. Zero bartending etiquette. She argues with patrons, she argues with her coworkers, I honestly don't really even know why she works there. The other guy has to tolerate her, and they appear to argue in front of patrons - it's not cute. He just stands there, staring at patrons as they sit waiting for drinks while the line gets longer and longer. Bartending is clearly not their jam. They have no signature cocktails, and the cocktails they do make are pretty bad. The karaoke is pretty egregious, it's like a guy who likes to sing poorly decided he wanted to set up karaoke just so he had a reason to sing sometimes and make other people listen to it. It's a dive bar, which in itself isn't bad. But it's like if you were driving through the bad part of Bakersfield and said "this place looks cool" and then stopped for a drink and then realized that it's Bakersfield but it's not. It's actually Salinas. You go here because you NEED to, because there's nothing else open, and then when this place closes you go to Jaime's. It's the second worst Salinas has to offer, and I'm saying that with optimism.
