Service here was great! They seems to know what they're doing and the cat is the best waiter. The fries are delicious and their burger is filling. Would love to come back to this cute cafe.

Small cafe for breakfast and lunch. EST 1956. Looks like an old gas station/ market. Taken back when times may have been a bit simpler. I was greeted kindly and seated it has a very quaint feel and very clean. They have a board with morning specials as well as full breakfast menu. I ordered from the specials. Chilaquiles & eggs. It was served with beans and sour cream on the side. The chips were well dressed and the eggs fluffy and cooked perfectly. I ordered mild as I wasn't sure on heat level. I would probably go to medium next time just to up the heat level a bit. Chips were still crispy and slowly some soften up from heat of the eggs and sauce an onions. It was perfectly balanced and one of the best I've had. Coffee is fresh and hot and a nice medium blend with cream or flavor creamers on the side. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. They advertise best burgers. So will have to give that a try. Picked up a fresh house made cinnamon roll for tomorrow!

Well, first off, apologies for no photo of MY meal (I took photos of my husband's and my sister in laws , but I will paint a picture with words. I ordered the linguisa, eggs over easy, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. You do not see linguisa on menus very often, and it used to be a childhood favorite of mine, so I could not resist. It did not disappoint. Everything was tasty and satisfying. The biscuit was the fluffy kind, I prefer the crispy kind. Do not come here if you are in a rush though. The service is friendly and kind, but definitely on the slow side. It is the kind of place where you settle in, sip your coffee, and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Worth the wait if you have the time.

Toro Place Cafe was a very average brunch place. Parking was pretty rough/awkward during 11:15am on a Saturday, but we managed since the place is located right next to the highway. We were seated very quickly outside on the patio which was very nice! It was a cloudy day and a bit cold outside, but only one of the outdoor heaters was working, out of the ~5 they had :( Service was not great but not horrible. When they served our food, they forgot to give me my side of fruit. We also asked for hot sauce (which every other table except us) and I think they forgot. We ended up asking another waitress after finally managing to flag them down and she quickly brought out my fruits (yum) & hot sauce. I was halfway done with my food though which kinda sucked because I was hungry and hot sauce is a necessity with my eggs! The chicken fried steak reminded of the free lunches I got in middle school It didn't seem like anything special to me-- just a fried slab of underseasoned chicken. I think I made a mistake choosing this, but my friend who got the eggs benedict said it was really good! He finished in 6 bites!!! Toro Place Cafe is a decent brunch spot but I didn't feel like it was anything special. I see a lot of folks bringing and pets here, which is pretty cool and nice. I also really enjoyed the patio but I wish the heaters worked or wished I came on a sunnier day. Thank you to the staff here that worked really hard to attend to my table! I imagine they were short staffed during the time I came.

I've been here before with a group of friends and we had a horrible service experience so i haven't given it a thought again, but today my friends insisted that we give it another chance and we did. The foods that we ordered are just okay, it's not something that you would go back to over and over, it's a cute little cafe that needs some good aesthetics, the bathroom is clean though. I must say that service is still the same as last time that we went. They need to up their game on the service.

We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and we were thrilled with our order. I had the grilled chicken club and spouse had the mushroom burger. We enjoyed the patio dining and the food was terrific! If you are on Hwy 68 the Toro Cafe is a must stop!

Decent roadhouse cafe. I hear the cinnamon buns are amazing but always sold out by the time I arrive. Great meeting spot to carb up before hiking Ft Ord or a nice lunch spot after an epic hike. Good and solid diner. Friendly staff.

Service was immediate. We chose our seat and had a waitress quickly. Coffee came and we ordered 2 omelets. Castroville and an ABC. Cooked to perfection and LOADED with ingredients. This is a very old restaurant that is basically by itself along the highway. Very cool small town feel. Great little patio attached for nice weather days. Highly recommend!!

Hubby had the marinade skirt steak sandwich with clam chowder soup.

You will not find friendlier staff than at Jeffrey's. They treat you like family. They have a big menu offering breakfast and lunch all day. You cannot go wrong with their Eggs Benedict as they are all amazing. My husband gets the classic and I have tried many of their daily special options. The portobello, spinach and avacado one is my favorite but they have all been delcious. Just ask for light hollandaise sauce or for it to be on the side as they can go a bit heavy. We also substitute the side of potatoes for a side of fruit. The berry pancakes are another favorite of ours. The hot chocolate and European latte are our favorite beverages. She raised her voice at us a couple of times, mentioned that the plates were "too heavy," and when I politely reminded her about a few forgotten items, she responded with a sarcastic and dismissive comment that caught me off guard. It stood out because everyone else we interacted with was very kind and professional. To be fair, it was close to closing time, so she may have been feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Despite that experience, I still really enjoyed the food and appreciated spending time with my wife and mom on Mother's Day in their relaxing outdoor seating area.

I walked in, immediately gravitated to the wall of bread, picked up a loaf, immediately put it back when I saw they had slabs of focaccia as well and got one of those instead. The other baked goods of the day were on display, so I got a piece of raspberry-iced olive oil cake and a slice of the pumpkin loaf. Will definitely be back - this is right down the road from a place we've been staying in Carmel Valley. Exciting to see this bakery in a quieter area that we happen visit every year. We'd definitely been getting our Ad Astra fix over the entire weekend: we had stopped by the other location the day before, and our friends who we stayed together with even brought some stuff from this one for us to try. But eager to see the place with my own eyes, I ventured out in the rain on our last morning in Carmel Valley. Excellent as always. We enjoyed the focaccia at home over the next few days; the cake and loaf piece were tender and moist.

While the Carmel Valley location doesn't carry all the pastries from their bakery, including those delectable cookies, it's a good spot for breakfast or lunch with a casual, order-at-the-counter feel. We arrived right at the 11 am lunch switch and enjoyed the mushroom and ricotta toast with candied hazelnuts on really good bread -- rich and satisfying. Their breakfast sandwich was good (we added bacon), though the spongy frittata-style egg was an acquired taste (um, texture.) The chimichurri and soft egg bread helped to bring the flavors together. Service was friendly, and their baked goods were excellent. We left with a loaf of their seeded sourdough, which makes excellent toast. We hope to visit to their main location, Ad Astera Bread and Bakery in Monterey for pastries and more of those delicious, enormous pb&j cookies.

I arrived at the restaurant around 5:00 PM for a 5:30 PM reservation, hoping to be seated a bit earlier as my baby was hungry. At check-in, I politely explained the situation to the receptionist, who curtly replied that the restaurant was busy and could not seat us before 5:30 PM. While I understand policies and seating procedures, what was troubling was her dismissive and condescending attitude. She avoided eye contact, spoke in an unwelcoming tone, and bluntly stated that there were "5 PM seatings not even seated yet" and that she "would not accommodate." She also pointed to another group behind me and said I needed to wait, even though no one else was in line at the time. I waited another 15 minutes and noticed that the restaurant and waiting area remained mostly empty. When I politely asked again, she became defensive and argumentative. I explained that I wasn't demanding special treatment but was simply hoping for some understanding since my baby was getting fussy. Her response--"that's none of my problem"--was shockingly unprofessional and unempathetic. By the third interaction, when I tried to calmly express that her attitude was unnecessarily rude, she accused me of yelling, which was completely false in front of other guests as a way of defending her behavior. At that point, I requested to speak with a manager, but the damage had already been done. The entire exchange was unnecessarily hostile and completely inconsistent with the standards I would expect from any restaurant. Making false accusations in front of other guests has clearly crossed the line. I want to emphasize that this was not about being seated a few minutes earlier--it was about being treated with basic respect and courtesy. The receptionist's dismissive behavior and lack of empathy were unacceptable and made what should have been a pleasant family dinner an upsetting experience. This restaurant is worth skipping entirely. If I were to visit this hotel again, I will dine out in the Carmel downtown area.
