    Nice atmosphere!

A beautiful spot for some tasty grub! Kind of a secret spot! Tucked down in a beautiful tree-filled valley, it's a super mellow spot for a glass of wine and some delicious food. They often have live music! I like their sliders, salads, veggie burgers, fries, fruit salad, fish... I imagine it's all tasty! Try it!

Such a wierd dinner at Courtside Bistro with very poor service tonight. Have you ever had to eat at a restaurant as the sun was going down and the restaurant didn't turn on the lights, ever? Also, my hubby ordered the East Brother Red IPA and the server not only forgot his beer but came back with a blonde colored Hazy IPA. They are totally different beers. Instead of apologizing, the server, referring to the beer he brought stated, "That's an IPA," as if it was supposed to be accepted without question. The server then says that they don't have the Red IPA and the menus haven't been updated. (Totally sus! Hubby had the East Brother Red IPA there a few weeks ago.) If they were truly out of the red, the server should have asked if bringing a different beer was ok and my hubby should have been comped his drink, at the least. When we got the check, my hubby said he'd have to read it inside because he couldn't see it in the dark and the server said, "Just put your credit card in there."

Value and attractive setting through the day. Not bad at night. Food always good. Good beer and wine selection. Friendly servers.

Decided to go with two cookies for my brothers (and parents to share if inclined to). I unforuntately on the hand am allergic to oats and so did not get any cookies for myself. One was a orange with I can't recall what and one was a peanut butter one. My parents thought these cookies were fantastic. Dad is raving about it and he doesn't care for sweets that much. He was asking all the details of this spot. And said it's defintely better than any of the cookie chains his children have been obessed with growing up. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I'll defintely be back! - Staff super sweet, especially the lady who took my order. - What you may or may not experience with other Patrons: Patrons from this morning: some were friendly, out of the way, and at least two were slighly to most defintely unpleasant. One noticeable patron in the blue cyan bright shirt this morning gave the worst energy and was as loud as his shirt - sir, you take up space and are a unpleasant soul. To the gentleman who opened the door with his hands full alongside his animal companion - thank you!

Exactly what we were looking for! Great coffee, pastries and chill, local vibes. Doggo friendly!read more

I walked in, immediately gravitated to the wall of bread, picked up a loaf, immediately put it back when I saw they had slabs of focaccia as well and got one of those instead. The other baked goods of the day were on display, so I got a piece of raspberry-iced olive oil cake and a slice of the pumpkin loaf. Will definitely be back - this is right down the road from a place we've been staying in Carmel Valley. Exciting to see this bakery in a quieter area that we happen visit every year. We'd definitely been getting our Ad Astra fix over the entire weekend: we had stopped by the other location the day before, and our friends who we stayed together with even brought some stuff from this one for us to try. But eager to see the place with my own eyes, I ventured out in the rain on our last morning in Carmel Valley. Excellent as always. We enjoyed the focaccia at home over the next few days; the cake and loaf piece were tender and moist.

While the Carmel Valley location doesn't carry all the pastries from their bakery, including those delectable cookies, it's a good spot for breakfast or lunch with a casual, order-at-the-counter feel. We arrived right at the 11 am lunch switch and enjoyed the mushroom and ricotta toast with candied hazelnuts on really good bread -- rich and satisfying. Their breakfast sandwich was good (we added bacon), though the spongy frittata-style egg was an acquired taste (um, texture.) The chimichurri and soft egg bread helped to bring the flavors together. Service was friendly, and their baked goods were excellent. We left with a loaf of their seeded sourdough, which makes excellent toast. We hope to visit to their main location, Ad Astera Bread and Bakery in Monterey for pastries and more of those delicious, enormous pb&j cookies.

I was pretty amazed how Beth and her colleague were able to keep up with all the tables, inside and outside. Nicely done! We ordered a diverse cross section of breakfast dishes. I ordered the Monty Cristo sandwich special (3/5) with the trailside potatoes. It was a ham and cheese sandwich using French toast. The ham was just thin deli meat and would have been better if made with a thicker ham steak. The trailside potatoes (4/5) were also not as good as my first breakfast here, but still pretty good. My wife order the jalapeno popper omelette (5/5) and really enjoyed it. The rest of our party had a good experience with their meals. So while the food was pretty solid, Beth was a rock star on the service side. Although she appeared a little hectic, she did a great job keeping everything straight and every table served with a smile. As a local, we are lucky to have Trailside Cafe. This is a solid breakfast choice.

Food was delicious! I ordered a Three Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato Basil soup and it was melty and buttery and it warmed my soul on this rather overcast day. Service was superb! I was able to choose my own table, she always made sure my Sprite was never empty, and she rushed a second sandwich order for me when I still had some soup left over and wanted more to dip. I didn't catch her name, but she was awesome. Thanks for the experience and I'll definitely be recommending this place to folks willing to travel to Carmel Valley. It's worth it!

I hate even having to write this because I'm Hispanic and I always try to support Hispanic businesses, and the workers were super nice to me, but this experience was really frustrating and disappointing. To add to it, I paid $9 for two regular tacos for my coworker, which felt extremely overpriced for what we received.
