Ariana's never disappoints. This is our go-to for weekend family breakfast. Be prepared to wait on Sundays for a table. The church crowd packs the place after service. It doesn't matter how long it's been since we've been in, they always recognize us. The service has always been on point, the food comes out fast and always delicious. Since I'm a creature of habit, I generally get the corned beef hash and eggs or the eggs benedict. 10/10 recommend for either. I skipped right over the all inclusive breakfast specials and went right to the Mexican food. I've been in search of great Mexican food for a while, every since moving away from California and Colorado. Well, it's right here, in Salinas, CA at Ariana's Restaurant. I've never had better tacos in my lifetime. They were truly heaven on a plate and I only could eat so much, therefore I will be back before my trip ends to try every single taco on the menu and maybe a few other things. The chicken taco tastes like pure salt. The meat in the asada fries and the tri tip burrito has zero seasonings, with the latter tasting freezer burnt. Our server never checked on us. Maybe their non-Mexican food is better. read more

A couple weeks ago my mom and I stopped in to have a quick lunch as her and my dad came here often. It was a super hot day. We sat by the door. It was actually pretty comfortable and nice. We promptly ordered our food and it came out with decent time, it did take a little longer than expected as it wasn't too busy however, the food was really good. The server was very nice... the food gave home cooking for sure it was delicious I was kind of bummed that when I asked for a Coca-Cola , there was no soft drinks that day. Not a big deal but like I said it was a super hot day. It just sounded delicious. The food did take a little bit longer than I would've expected because they weren't too busy, but it was OK because like I said, everybody was nice and the food was really good. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to the reviews. The service was lacking from the start--we were never greeted and had to ask if we could sit at a table. I requested coffee, which never came until I asked again. My husband's soda was also forgotten, and when he asked for flour tortillas, he was served corn tortillas instead. The restaurant is very small and family-owned. The owner was actively talking with other tables but never approached ours, which was disappointing. Overall, ordering, receiving our food, and even getting the bill took a long time, and it felt like they could really use more help. As for the food, my husband said the menudo lacked flavor. My meal was okay, but nothing special. The beans tasted canned, and the potatoes seemed boiled then browned--very soft on the inside. Two pancakes, fluffy golden, beautiful tasting amazing, two big fat perfectly cooked sausage patties, two beautifully cooked over easy eggs and amazing coffee $16.99 out the door and worth every penny. I gave her a $20 tip. It was so good. Even the coffee was great! Service was perfect by the young lady who seen me enjoying my meal didn't bother to interrupt my moment lol thank you pray. Alright here we go. I hadn't had a tostada is awhile so ordered 1 which was all I wanted...wait person explained that the "plate" came with 2 and rice and beans...so I said ok let's do it thinking my better half would like the other as she only ordered...a pancake..yeah. Getting straight to it, the rice was hard, I mean hard as in unchewable, which I noticed immediately cause my teeth were like whaooo buddy don't do that to us! The rice was not aromatic as I'm made today sometime and had that tomato sauce flavor. The beans were on the verge of..let's just say not good. The lettuce on the tostada was romaine lettuce which would have been fine substitute for iceberg. The problem i had was I was served the butt end of it which is generally hard white-yellowish and not the green leafy part...moving on to the tortillas. They were the store bought type which ok I guess but they were how do I say this. Not crunchy but rather mushy to bite into and they fell apart immediately after the one bite. That said I left all that was served on the plate and of course the waitress noticed and I said I was not that hungry after all bit she kept insisting that she wanted to know why I had not eaten any of the food...again I said and actually 4 and 5 times...but she kept insisting my opinion soooooo.....I let her have it...right???..I mean she asked me for the truth and I politely declined...anyway when she picked up her jaw from the floor...she took the charge off the bill...but I was willing to pay for the order...I don't know what you think but I would not serve that to anyone in my family and I'm the guy who cooks much less one of my guests..till the next one. read more

After horrible service 5 years ago, I finally gave in and was going to give them another try, well I was WRONG. Went in, sat down, a gentlemen came and gave us menu's, asked our drink choice (water), and never returned. He was too busy talking with two yoing ladies. He realized he left us there when another employee saw me going to see why no one was helping and told him hey you forgot your customers. At this time, is when we got up and left. Honestly good food and the older lady is super nice. I went and paid half my tab in cash and the rest in card. Couple days later I see they charged the full amount to my credit card. I called up to see if we can fix it and they asked for the receipt but I threw it away since I always go there didn't think anything would happen. I tried calling the restaurant and the guy who works there is a a**hole. Told me he couldn't do anything to come see here In person but I work and they close at 3 everyday so I can't and he just hung up. I tried calling in weekend to try and talk to the main lady the same guy answered and wanted to be a jerk and tell me "you didn't hear me the first time ? Come see her in person I'm not going to help you so stop calling and come In person" but rude voice and hella attitude for no reason. Honestly it caught me off guard because I was talking respectfully and I just wanted to fix it because I always eat there... but I will never eat there again or recommend it to anyone cuz that a**hole chef. Im rounding up to 4 stars because they deserve more than 3. Came here at 11 on a Saturday. Walked in and grabbed a table with no wait. Drink orders and menus were promt and food order was shortly after. Very friendly service. 11.99 for a 6 oz NY steak and eggs was a great value. The country omelette was also generous for 10.99. The daily breakfast specials come with coffee and are a great deal. I've had the Chile Verde omelette and it was great. The flour tortillas were not though. I'll probably go with corn or toast next time. Corned beef hash is not made in house but that's not unusual. I'm not a fan of canned. Biscuits are not house made either and I don't recommend them if you are picky about a nice biscuit. Home fries were good with peppers and onions mixed in. House made salsa was great!
