We've been here twice in the past month. The food is not really for health nuts but is it ever good! Though, if you want to be health conscious, they have salads and a veggie sandwich. We do support this business a lot primarly through takeout but after a couple of recent closures in oldtown, it was a wake up call and we really want to support our local businesses because we wouldn't be the same without them. We have enjoyed friendly service both times we've been here in May and June 2025. First time, I had Fish and Chips and substituted garlic fries. It was crispy and delicious with a perfect side of cole slaw. The second time, we brought friends who hadn't tried the food and they were very satisfied w/ their Chicken Salad and Pastrami Reuben. A word about that Reuben: It is outstanding; made in the classical tradition of grilling Rye, adding saurkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing, it hits the spot! If you like pastrami, you will not be disappointed. Though I've never tried it, a couple of friends have recommended the TriTip sandwich. It's easy to overlook this spot as being just a bar, but it is a really great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with much better than average bar grub, prepared with thought. We were in from out of town for a basketball game, but the friendly team made our group of 30 feel right at home !!! They saved multiple tables for our large party. Service was quick given the group size. I had the chipotle chicken sandwich which was awesome. I went out for a laid back drink and appetizer with a friend. They have a great selection of appetizers on their menu, in fact most of my favorites. We ordered the fried artichokes and I had a moscow mule which was very tasty and my friend had a another mixed drink. We were very happy they knew how to make all the mixed drinks. After paying, the older yt girl & the younger girl server came back to my table with the receipt and loudly commented on the tip in front of other customers, which felt really shaming and hostile. It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. The food was bland and part of it seemed stale, and the hostile hospitality completely ruined the experience. I left feeling embarrassed rather than welcomed. Won't be returning in the future or recommend this bar to anyone. No one should shame someone like they did. No one knows what financial situation someone is in. She should be grateful for any tip, and the fact they're coming in to support the business that employs them is something they should also be grateful for. I took my blind friend in there this afternoon for lunch. My pickle slipped out of my hand and hit the floor. I asked for a replacement. The young man brought one...what he failed to tell me was he would be charging me $2. for this pickle. Also, no server ever came to our table to see if needed a soda or tea refill... or if we needed ANYTHING actually! I left no tip. My friend was shocked! I said "They never once came to see if we needed anything plus they charged me for the pickle! I'm not leaving them anything!" P.S. Train your servers better. read more

I ordered a Mai Tai craft by Alvarado. It's a good beer if are indecisive and want to try something new because it is juicy and flavorful. This place was great! My little brother and i drove in from out of town for a funeral and we wanted to eat first. We stopped by midday on a Thursday so the place wasn't too packed. The employees were super nice and told us to sit wherever so we sat outside because the day was nice. Inside it was very sports type bar which is cool. They have a full bar! We ordered our food and we're served pretty quick. The food was great! I had a chicken sandwich and my brother had a burger and fries! Highly recommend during the day it seems more family friendly. Salinas has a cool old-time town center. We had been told there was an hour long wait at our first choice of brunch on Memorial day in Monterey,, so since we were ultimately headed to Salinas, we thought we would catch breakfast there. Once there at 10:45am on Monday, we had the exact opposite problem here - nothing was open and serving food. Finally at 11am this place opened, and had outdoor seating. Not much of a breakfast type menu, more bar food. We ordered the fried artichokes, which I would think is a must order here - they tasted fresh, not canned or frozen and came with a not too spicy chipotle dipping sauce. We also split the mexican dog, which was fine, nothing special. and we ordered onion rings to go with - but on retrospect since we got the fried artichokes a coleslaw or something else might have been a better choice.
