To start, service was friendly and helpful. Mom and I started with the guac and chips, which was actually our favorite part of the entire meal. The guac was very well done- perfectly seasoned! (This would actually be my top recommendation.) Mom's margarita had a flavor she could only think to describe as "gasoline-ish"... but not in an alcohol type way... just something off with the flavor. She really enjoyed her Baja fish tacos though. I had the Thai Peanut Salad and the quinoa felt really misplaced. I'm not quite sure why that was included, as it wasn't listed on the menu and would have not been what I went for had it been. The sesame seeds(?) also felt like, aside from texture, they didn't add to the dish in a beneficial way. It isn't something I'd order again. Was able to sit right away and received great service from our bartender who was busy but she ensured to us that we would be taken care of shortly. Great customer service on her part and followed up with us on a timely manner. Would've given a full 5 stars however there was an unpleasant experience with one of the servers asking a bar back a question and he had answered in a rude unprofessional tone. After reaching the end of the street that transitioned into suburban homes, we found ourselves with two dining options: this place or the Country Rose Cafe. Parking here was challenging, and we ended up parking around the corner. I think the place might have gone down hill. Today we visited after not being here for close to three years and all things seem to be mediocre. We called to see if we needed a reservation for our big family and the lady took our name and party size just in case. We arrived and the weren't ready for us, asking us to wait outside for 5 minutes. Paid an additional $1 for garlic fries, which I was satisfied with since the garlic was semi-cooked (so it wasn't raw and spicy) and very fragrant. $21 + $1 I think the price is a little steep for a burger and fries, but I will say the patties were THICK!! This restaurant is one of the nicer places in Hollister, several sections with tables and booths. There is also outdoor seating. We had a 10 minute wait to get a table on a Saturday night, not bad. Our server took our drink order and our drinks were served quickly. The menu had a lot of options, and there was also a "specials" menu how ever they did not include prices. We ordered and sat there waiting almost a half hour for our food to arrive. My wife ordered the seared scallops ($35) with wild mushrooms and butternut purée. She said it was good but a bit salty. Hubby and I are here in town for a 4wd Safety Clinic at the local off road park. A group of us decided to have dinner at this restaurant. I ordered the Roasted Beet Salad. There were "Add Ons" like grilled or fried chicken, Salmon, Shrimp, etc. Additional charge if course. I chose the Shrimp. Here's where it all went wrong. (Sad Face). The salad arrives with what looked like either extremely overcooked crustaceans or extra spicy and blackened. Well these suckered were like biting into a ghost pepper! The salad alone was just ok too. Never saw or tasted the feta cheese and the shaved Fennel had no flavor? WOW!! I'm so disappointed :( I've been wanting to come here for years, and after one try I will NEVER come here again. So I ordered the cowboy burger medium rare with onion rings and my boyfriend got the farmhouse burger well done with garlic fries. Mine came out well done and his was medium rare... whatever they must have just mixed them up when putting them on the burgers. But his to go container was cover in oil from the fries. Like to a disgusting amount... then my onion rings smelled sooo gross. Like it was cooked in old dirty oil, and they were HARD like super stale as if they were sitting for days ( the one on my burger too )... we got food for my son too but needless to say it was thrown out before even trying! read more

Came here for lunch with our friends. The decor was a cute industrial barnyard style and I'd imagine it's one of the better places to eat in Hollister. However we weren't super impressed with the items we ordered. We were seated near the bar area so service was a little slow although the guy was super friendly. We ordered: Baja Fish Tacos: this was recommended to our friends and it was pretty good! Wish it had more fish as the tacos were big but it mostly lettuce. It came with 3. Fried chicken sandwich: must enjoy pickles and dill as the sauce is a dill sauce. The chicken and the sandwich itself was really underwhelming and small. We got it with a side of garlic fries which were pretty standard. It was pricey for such a small sandwich. Outlaw fries: good but super greasy. I mean fries are greasy but swimming in oil made my stomach hurt a bit. Overall it's not a bad place and if I'm town I would probably go again but not worth seeking out. read more

We've always enjoyed the food here and it's one of our go-to spots for family outings. However, I do have one suggestion: they recently switched their homemade ranch dressing to a new version, which unfortunately tastes much more generic. During our recent visit, we overheard the two tables next to us also mention to the waitress that they preferred the old recipe. We'd love to see the original ranch dressing brought back!
