Updating my review it's been awhile since we've been here and it's not as good as I remember. The portions are smaller and I was disappointed in my biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were small, they weren't the same giant fluffy biscuits as before and the gravy lacked flavor. Our service was great, especially considering my fussy toddler which she catered to with a fruit plate to soothe him. A well loved local brunch spot for good reason! You may have to wait on a weekend but it's worth it. The food in general is good, but they do all things carby/baked amazingly. They had orange poppy seed pancakes the day I went and I'm daydreaming of them as I write this, so very delicious, fluffy, and flavorful. We were really blown away by how amazing Cowboy's Corner Cafe was. Definitely the best diner food we've had in the area, and it wasn't close. We had a decently large group, ~6 people, and it took just over 30 minutes for us to be seated, which was totally fine! Where do I begin?! The sweet food aromas enticed my appetite from outside. The place was packed. Thankfully we were offered a seat at the counter. The country decor was so cozy. The kitchen was kicking the food out so quickly. The wait staff picked it up as soon as it hit the pick up counter. We were in awe of how delicious everything looked. They had a huge hot tea collection to choose from, I chose Chai tea. Yum!! My husband and I both chose the chicken fried steak with country potatoes. The tasty flavored and crispy crust of the steak was fantastic. The gravy was so flavorful. My honey had the house blueberry muffins with his breakfast in lieu of regular toast. Best choice ever!! The owners and entire staff were so friendly. Looking around the restaurant, you can see the complete approval on the patrons faces. Juan jr mentioned they were experiencing a lil craziness due to a new POS system. I let him know we hadn't noticed. I would have to say that's all because the staff was wonderful. I think the owner was our server and she was so sweet, super nice and attentive. I was craving clam chowder and they had it on the menu, so I got a bowl. It was huge! My sister has been telling me to come here for a while now and since I was finally in town I got a chance to check it out. I called an hour ahead to see the wait and they didn't have any so I thought we might get lucky. We got there and the lady took my name and number of people and we waited 7-10 minutes. We got seated and we asked for coffee and water. I ordered the hot cake combo and was excited to eat! Everything came out in a timely manner and we scarfed down our food. My eggs were delicious, bacon was ok (cooked fine but not much flavor), pancakes were delicious and HUGE! I only ate one of them. Coffee was not strong and did not have a bold flavor but I did get a refill and ate it with my meal. This is all based on my preferences. We finished our meal and paid and we were on our way. The space is a small quaint area. It was very busy for a Tuesday morning. People were coming and going. Staff was all over the place. Coffee refills were happening. While the tables are adjusted to use up the space you don't feel crowded. Which is a plus. Cowboy era theme. Clean bathrooms. Cool spot in Watsonville. There were many choices that we talked about meeting up for breakfast, our family who is local to this place said it's a must for breakfast. Place was packed for an early Sunday morning. Usually means this place is great. After the wait we were seated, 6 of us. The person ( a male) taking our order was magnificent and friendly. The service was below average with empty coffee cups. Food was average to below average. Salty as hell. Potatoes- small and burnt. Portions average. Prices about $18 on average per order without drink. And they will automatically charge you a 20% for a tip if over 3 people. Check your bill!! Don't tip twice!! They will not indicate the prices of the items that you purchased on your total bill!! This place is family owned, therefore I'll give them a couple of stars for that. All in all- way overrated. Certainly not worth the hype. If you live nearby, great.
