I'll start by saying the portion of anything I've ever ordered at Armstrong's has been enormous. They didn't disappoint on portion size at all, in fact I ordered the mushroom "steak" hoagie, it was large enough to feed two. I will say the bun was mushy and unlike others who reviewed it neither of ours tasted like steak but more like roast beef. Now roast beef hoagies are fine if that's what I'm ordering and when I want one I go to Arby's where I can get them 2 for $5 not $12. Lessons learned by me, next time I'll ask if it's steak or roast beef and order accordingly. I also feel restaurants need to be more transparent in what they serve. read more

My Husband and I have been going to Armstrongs for years. The most important thing about them is that they were "always" consistent. You never had to wonder if what you were getting would be as good as the last time; you just knew. We stopped today to get Italian hoagies which are excellent. When we got home and started eating we both looked at each other and said something was missing. It wasn't an italian hoagie, it was a salami sandwich and you could tell right away all the delicious italian meats were missing. We paid $15 each for a 3 piece salami sandwich (piled with lettuce and tomatoe to make it look big.) I know there was a listeria problem with certain lunch meats but let the customer know so they can decide if they still want it. I hope it isn't a sign of the times; everything is going downhill. read more

Best Italian comfort food around. Massive portions that can be shared. Their wedding soup is better than my own homemade which is pretty famous with my friends and family. The anti pasta salad is amazing. It's huge with tons of quality toppings. They don't skimp on this one! Four of us usually share it with wedding soup for dinner. Every entree I've had has been amazing. Rarely order them, though, due to the preferred wedding soup and anti pasta salad preference. read more

I recently came here for the first time and I was impressed! This is a great family restaurant with a fancier feel than your typical diner. My boyfriend had the Cajun wings and loved them, and they we split some fried zucchini -- the marinara sauce was great! I had the grilled steak salad and it was awesome-- it had grilled onions and mushrooms, which was a different twist I really liked. Their ranch dressing is THE BEST. Next time I come back, I'd love to try one of the Italian dishes and the complimentary bread. My salad came with garlic bread, so I passed on the bread (I have regrets). read more

They give you a lot of food for your money and very good service we called ahead and got in very quickly

Service was great but the flavor wasn't. I ordered Chicken Parmesan. The sauce tasted just like plain tomato soup cover with mozzarella. No spices added the to the sauce or chicken, that I could taste. The bread was blah but at least the Caesar salad was very good. Sorry, forgot to take pics. read more

The food Here is good. The portions are good but my problem is the customer service. I called to order food and well the gentleman who answered the call was somewhat gruff. I could overlook that but here is the real problem on their website which They claim isn't theirs there are two menus. One that is like a photo of the physical menu and an order online menu type thing (which you can't order on line yet) it says it's coming soon. So on one menu it says two sides with a pasta dish and on the other only one. Ok again not a big deal. But to say to your customers that isn't our website. And then to even slam the paper menu down when picking up said order, well ....it's just not necessary. I hope the management is aware of a website that isn't theirs selling food that is theirs. Just weird and without the rudeness it would have gotten a better review. read more

Always a go to for our family! We love to come here for some good food and drinks! We have eaten in and ordered for take out multiple times. Yesterday, The chocolate mud slide was really good but I will say it was inconsistent. The first one was very sweet, the second one tasted like straight vodka. The first one didn't come with any garnish in it. The second mudslide came with a little chocolate covered graham stick. Still not bad, but not consistent. The Long Island was made very well and a good choice to get! We ordered baked ziti, fried zucchini planks, fried fish, and fried shrimp! The portions are generous and delicious! While the food in this place has always been amazing, the service has declined significantly in the last few years. What started off as a local mom and pop shop has grown beyond what it can handle as a restaurant. Waiting times for tables are almost two hours, even when you call ahead. I've heard lots of good things about this place over the last few years and decided to try takeout. The staff recommended the chicken parm so I tried the sandwich that came with fries. I liked the roll it was served on, soft and hearty not the type to get soggy, but the taste of the chicken parm itself is average. The sauce isn't particularly tangy, and there was a very slight cleaning product aftertaste from one of the elements. They were very busy with what appear to be regulars so I might be inclined to try it again down the road. read more

We stopped in on Sunday, March 26, after walking a trail. Great service - multiple people helped the server. Relaxed atmosphere. Husband mentioned he is gluten-free. We shared an order of delicious wings: server-suggested garlic parmesan with Buffalo sauce. I'd go back for that! We've had Armstong's plenty of time. Always good food at a reasonable price. However, this our bill came to $95. I was flabbergasted. This was for three appetizers, 2 calzones and one Reuben. We checked the menu prices online and asked the person who took the order about it, he said the online prices hadn't been updated in a while. normally when we have ordered, our order is between $50/$60. $20 for a freaking calzone! I know eating out during these times is a luxury and a choice, I am all for supporting local businesses, but I choose not to eat at places that charges those kind of prices for middle of the road food. At least update your prices online, so people can see what they are paying. We won't be going back. read more

I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant because of the sentimental value it held for my boyfriend and his family. However I was very disappointed by the service that was provided. I understand that people can have bad days but when it affects your work then there is an issue. Our waitress' attitude while serving us was very unpleasant. Harshly putting down our cups, food and check. Not very attentive and when we asked for bread for the table we were met with a response that told us she was bothered by the request. Our bread was ice cold. I really wanted to enjoy the food because the restaurant is cozy and you can tell it's a well loved restaurant by the locals but the service just put a damper on the whole thing which in turn made the meal not pleasant. The food is good and flavourful though. The other issue I had with staff was the hostess leaning against the wall falling asleep. 100% understand that any food service job is exhausting but you are representing an establishment and it's just not a good look. I will definitely try it again to give it another chance because it means so much to my boyfriend but I hope the service experience is better. read more

I can only speak for their Reuben Sandwiches. Got them here first time 10 years ago and when in the area....I'll come here just for the Reuben Sandwiches and their Zucchini planks. These Reubens are supersize and DELICIOUS! They order the bread specifically for these Reubens! Had to ask on 2 occasions for HOT FRENCH FRIES and then got them. Next time will point out and specify HOT Fries...Please! All hostesses could use some training on how to great patrons. One of the worst dining experiences! 4 of us plus a baby entered the restaurant and just stood near the hostess table for 5 minutes with no one greeting us. Finally we interrupted the 3 hostesses and asked to be sat. The girl that sat us was so annoyed that we asked for a table vs a booth. Such an attitude. The worst part was when I asked if I could just have pasta with spinach (I do not eat meat or cheese). The very nice waitress, asked the chef/owner and came back with this response: "we do not have a recipe for that". I was speechless!! I asked if she needed the recipe: pasta.....spinach!! She apologized, but said the chef will not do it. I then asked for a side of cooked spinach and she said they can not do that either. My solution: I took the spinach out of the salad that came with my dinner (which was delicious) and added it to the pasta I ordered!! Dear chef/owner see attached pictures for "recipe"! Called for takeout today. Checked out the menu on their website. Ordered our food expected to pay the price on their website. When we picked up the food, was very shocked at the price we had to pay. Be warned the website is not updated. We should not have been charged extra due to their mistake. Food was good but will not go back because they did not honor the website prices. read more

I don't usually write bad reviews because I'm not hard to please. I enjoy eating! This was not the case at Armstrong's. I was served the wrong salad- twice. The server was slightly apologetic and said the night was chaotic. There were 8 customers in the restaurant when I got my second salad. It tasted ok but was a very small portion for the price. Mostly French fries and onions. Very little lettuce, veg, or steak. Asked if manager was aware of the two-time mix up. Server told us she was notified but she never came to our table. It's unfortunate we had heard good things about this restaurant. We will not be going back or recommending it. Salads should not be a challenge! read more
