Visited Austin for a day and wanted to try the best vegan food as Austin is known for its great veg options and food trucks. Obviously Arlo's was perfect because it combines both. My friends and I tried all the different burgers on the menu and everyone was satisfied, my favorite burger was the BBQ burger. The patties were so nice and crispy and the onions and tomatoes did not taste overpowering which was perfect. Loved everything about the burger and the beautiful breeze in the outdoor seating area definitely added to a great eating experience. I don't even like burgers and I thought it was amazing. My meat eating friend said even though it didn't taste exactly like meat it certainly tasted good. read more

Hot damn this place is AH-MAZING. Got the Bacon Cheezeburger and the tots on the side and it was EVERYTHING. I was making love to that burger 1 in the AM. I don't know what's in that burger, all I know is that it's one of the best vegan burgers I've ever had. It was definitely comfort food and by no means healthy, but it hits the spot! I'll be dreaming about the day Arlos opens up a food truck on the West Coast for a long time. Maybe it's for the best I don't live near one of their food trucks... I should also note that even if you aren't a vegan, I can guarantee you'll love this. read more

Best veggie burger I've ever had! I always get the bacon cheeseburger, it's incredible! Wash it down with some crispy salty tots... mmmm!

Food is incredible as always, but even better was the woman working tonight at the cheer up's location. Someone before us didn't pick up their order, so she gave it to us asking for us to please give it to a homeless person. So genuinely kind. Made our night! A very happy and grateful person has a full belly tonight because of her! read more

This place left me speechless. It was an accident that I found it; I needed a quick lunch near the capitol in Austin. I'm so glad I went!! I'm vegetarian and veggie burgers are one of my favorite meals, and this place is professional when it comes to veggie burgers. I got the classic vegan bacon and cheese burger they offer. Wow is the only way to describe the taste. The "bacon" on it was delicious, and the cheese added a great flavor. I wish they had more locations in Texas as I live 4 hours from Austin! Will be returning next time I visit. read more

I am not vegan and definitely love my beef burgers, but we just had to try Arlo's! We dropped in and ordered the bacon burger and the chicken sandwich along with an order of tots. and mac & cheese. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first when I took a bite, but I was immediately sold! The flavors were unique, but in a good way. When I looked at the mac & cheese, I immediately thought to myself, "this is probably going to be gross!" I was definitely wrong! With is having zero dairy products, it was pretty darn good! Every bite of our food was a new experience. Would I stop in again? Heck yeah! You should do the same as well if you want to be experimental or if you are vegan! read more

The food was really good! I loved the burger and macaroni. My friend loved her tacos. Really nice people

The classic cheeseburger and chicken sandwich are excellent!!! It's my favorite burger place for sure!! Last time I was there though, it took FOREVER to receive my food and my fries were a bit cold. They need a bigger truck or more people working there on the weekends. read more

Got this place on a late-night adventure, but decided to try to be healthy so we went to Arlo's to get some vegetarian food, but to our surprise it tasted just as good as regular meat burgers! We loved the burger and macaroni. Although it is on the pricier side it is well worth the money if you're trying to find something that is unique and green that tastes the same as your sinful cravings! read more

Stopped by the food truck on the way into Austin and was pleasantly surprised. As a vegetarian, I don't normally get to eat a lot of flavorful tacos . The meat substitute was great! I got the tacos and they were fresh and flavorful. Their sauces were good as well. It was more chipotle flavored than I thought but it gave a good flavor to the taco. They ran out of chips and salsa which was a bummer but the environment is great to sit out and enjoy a meal. The guys working were cool and they had replenishments of the chips and salsa fairly soon after they ran out! read more

Arlo's Junior - Truck food parked with the menu and specials - Burgers Near Me - Austin, Texas

Sooooo... Basically this burger is my life. It reminds me of a burger I used to eat as a kid at the Bun and Barrel in San Antonio. My hubby and I loved it! Service is kind and helpful and prices are good for the amount of food you get. Our three year old also loves the Mac and cheese! We went around 1pm on a weekday to the Guadalupe location and there were only a few patrons, no wait. I think anyone would love this place, even those who aren't vegan (see some of the reviews here written by people who didn't realize it was a vegan burger until afterward). Vegans, especially those who have been vegan a long time, will LOVE IT. read more

It's so good. Can't tell its vegan. It's like the perfect burger. No blood or grease just the flavor. The bacon burger with cheese is my favorite. I prefer the tots because they are cooked crispy. I don't like it though when they pack the to go bag and smash the tots at the bottom. Please remember to put the burger in first TY read more

I ordered the bac'n cheeze burger with BBQ sauce and tots on the side. My friend had the chicken tacos, which I sampled. Everything was delicious, though slightly under-seasoned. The chicken tacos would be elevated one notch by adding fresh red onions. The service was great. The outside seating was uncomfortable due to the humidity; they should provide water misters to curb the heat. I recommend this place, even if you're a meat eater. You will not be disappointed. read more

Great vegan food! Especially the bacon cheeseburger. I'm not even a vegan! Lol. Love that the food trailer/truck is connected to Cheer up Charlies. Would show a pic of my burger but I see that there are 1000 on Yelp already. Lol. One star removed bc the young lady didn't take my name when I ordered so I waited longer than necessary. Sorry. read more

I am far from a vegan but my vegan friend I was on a road trip with said "you'll like this place. it has your type of food". What he meant by "your type of food" is burgers and fried stuff. So we came to this vegan food truck and I left surprised, full, and happy. I went for the mac n cheese burger which also comes with seitan bacon. The burger came hot and I was glad to see the "cheese" melting (something I don't normally see with vegan meals). This thing was delicious. I complimented the burger with tater tots and they were damn good too. Those looking for a vegan meal made in the vein of fast food eateries should give this a shot. read more

So recently, I've become pescatarian, tending towards vegan, so the taste of meat is still very fresh in my mind. I'm not sure if I should review this in the context of all vegan restaurants, or in the context of all foods, so I'll do both! I shared the Chik'n tacos and Street tacos with a date here and overall, both were good. For meat eaters: look, these tacos aren't going to replace your favorite taco restaurant. They would simply just taste better with meat. That being said, the "meat" and sauce was really quite good, if I were still eating meat, I would be able to tell that it wasn't meat but it wouldn't be super obvious. For vegans: I haven't had enough vegan places to compare with, but in terms of the vegan tacos I've tried in the past, these were really good. The Street tacos were especially delicious. I'm not a big fan of Seitan yet, so the Street tacos tasted better than the Seitan Chik'n tacos. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. read more

Let me start off by saying the burgers were great. Very surprised to find an actual plant-based patty that tasted so good. Sadly, the mac-n-cheese tasted like cookie dough. But even more sadly, I am unable to tell you what the frito pie tasted like because they drenched it in mayonnaise even though I explicitly expressed my utter disdain for the disgusting condiment. It does not say on the menu that the frito pie has mayonaisse, so I was very surprised to find my food covered in it. And side note - who the f*** puts mayo on a frito pie??? When I brought up the mayonnaise to the same cashier whom I'd shared with my hatred for mayo, she only offered me a "spoon to scrape it off" as a solution - no refund. Offering a refund or a remake is customer service 101. I hadn't even touched it and now the frito pie completely went to waste. Again the burgers were great, but the obnoxious use of mayonnaise and customer service were not! ALSO they have no mayo replacement for the chicken sandwich. Someone on staff needs to get some hot sauce stocked because I know that 1) I'm not the only person who hates mayo, and 2) hot sauce is a necessity at any eating establishment in the South, and mind you, the WORLD. read more

I was vegan for almost a year and have tried everything under the vegan bus. The bac'n cheezeburger was the best thing I got, but still eh. The Mac was so disappointing, I was expecting a sauce not a dry flavor. The sweet potato fries were, sweet potato fries. I'm happy there's a place to get vegan food, and fast, but there's gotta be a better place? Too hyped up in my opinion. The service was awesome though, have to order online now because of COVID. read more

A good effort at greasy comfort finger food but there's room for improvement. Bac'n cheeze burger was really good. The patty was crispier than I like but it was flavorful yet allowed the other ingredients to shine. The cheese, bacon, pickles, mustard and onions added to the flavor but the showstopper was the buttery brioche bun. Would get this again! Mac and cheese was wildly disappointing. They used daiya cheese but didn't mention it on the menu. I don't like daiya cheese enough to eat that much of it. Also, I think places should mention when they are using packaged cheeses that the masses also have access to. Tater tots were good. Very crispy. If you're not into crispy though these won't be your speed. Fast and friendly service! read more

I stopped by on a cold night for mac'n cheeze and a bac'n cheezeburger. I enjoyed the mac'n cheeze more than the burger. The mac'n cheeze has a hint of Caribbean flavor. The burger has a good bun and dressing. The bacon and the cheeze was also good. I find that the patty to be less dense than what I like. But it was overall a good burger and I'll have it again if I was in the area. read more

The burger was so good that I felt guilty as if I were eating meat. Lost star because the tots were SO salty I was literally brushing it off one by one and my mouth still hurts hours later. They were so bad I deeply considered leaving a worse review, but damn was that burger good. read more

Had the bacon cheese burger and sweet potato fries. LOVED THE BURGER. The fries were a bit salty but def worth giving them another go. I'll level with you I didn't recognise the glaringly obvious indications that this was a vegan food truck and was, much to the amusement of my fellow diners, rather put out to receive my Seitan 'chick'n' chipotle burger. Once the indignation has subsided I was very pleasantly surprised - deliciously toasted brioche bun, well seasoned burger and perfectly cooked and salted sweet potato fries. Who said vegans were healthy? They are tasty though, and kinder to bird life. My only complaint isn't really their fault - the bar they share space with is not my scene/remotely clean - could do with a bit of a scrub! But put them in a more salubrious (or just sweeter smelling) spot and I'll happily add them to my roster of 'favourite things to eat after 5 margaritas' read more

This is the best vegan burger I've ever had. I would have preferred that the bacon strips were more crispy to give it the bacon texture but the flavor was on point! Their "bac'n cheez" burger is amazing. I've been trying to eat more plant-based foods in the past couple of weeks, and I haven't had a burger in nearly a month. This burger would have fooled me even back then. It was juicy, flavorful and it hit the spot. The service was friendly, and on the faster end of food truck speeds. The location is a bit odd -- it's on the property of Cheer Up Charlies, but you have to go through a maze by the front door to get to it; you can't simply walk up to the truck. Highly recommended. read more

I was so glad that this truck stayed open till their closing time. Much to my surprise most trucks close earlier than stated on weekdays because the business is slow. We dropped by here a little after 9 pm and found ourselves to be the only other customer here. I ordered their bac'n cheese burger with tater tots. The tots were so crunchy yet not oily at all. I really loved that. The bac'n cheese burger was also delicious. If you go into it expecting the vegan bacon to taste like regular real bacon then you'd be sorely disappointed. But having tried a few different kinds of vegan bacon this one was fine for me. There was also ample seating outside and because the truck was parked close to a bar we got to enjoy music as we ate. read more

Bac'n Cheeze Burger House-made soy free & gluten free patty, stacked with house-made seitan bac'n, melted cheeze, mayo, ketchup, mustard, tomatoes, onions, pickles, lettuce They said hands down the Bac'n Cheeze Burger screams the @arlostruck name. When someone tells me their best thing on the menu is a veggie burger I feel like I can see the nape in my neck from how far my eyes roll back. EVERYONE has a veggie burger, BUT Arlo's might be in to something. I almost religiously never add ketchup to my burger/sandwiches but when it comes that way...I got to give it a chance. Arlo's burger definitely has the feeling of a grade A fast food burger. No fancy bun, skip the crazy toppings, we are diving in to a juicy non-meat treat. I'll admit, at first glance, there is not much to write home about, but the taste is something to sing to skies above. Have you ever had a Checkers burger before, cause this is it, hands down. Blind folded, I would not have assumed this was a veggie burger at all... or it's been too long for me to remember a real one. ‍ Stop by and chow down. I hope to stop by again next time in town and see what's up with this "chicken" sandwich they got. Arlo's has now restored my hope in to giving a chance to the veggie burger once again. #vegan_bucketlist #vegan_bucketlistTX read more

I ordered the Bac'n Cheeze Burger and fries and was immediately wow'd in the first bite. The burger was absolutely amazing, bursting with flavor and filling. The fries were good too. I wanted to experience some other menu items, so I tried the chic'n tacos and I didn't like them at all. The chic'n was a bit dry and I wasn't as impacted by the flavors. Note: Menu items are best when eaten hot. I loved my experience so much that I went back the next day and ordered another cheeze burger and fries to go. That experience wasn't so great. Reheating lowered the quality of greatness in both the burger and fries. Next time I'm in Austin, I'll definitely check out Arlo's again. Thanks for the great experience! read more
