I tried this myself in the past but as a senior citizen it was a nightmare. Not only did Gen Tech have it up and running in less than an hour they also checked my older lap top for any malware. These are tech professionals who know what they are doing and very pleasant to deal with. The price was very fair and they saved me an awful lot of grief. Very much recommend them. What made it even better there was no upselling or trying to tie me into one of those "service contracts." This place is a real hidden gem.

My experience though was great…read more I think you get a feel for the place when you only make a small purchase but they treat you like you bought the most expensive item in the store. I had bought an OEM video card but after opening the box and installing I notice the power cord wasn't correct. I was panicking because the big box store could't help me. I called around to different stores to see if they'd sell me the cord. Only Jason took time to talk with me. He said "Yes we could sell you the cord but it's better to bring in the computer so you get the right one" Well I did bring in my PC first thing on Saturday. Jason wasn't in but Simon said he'd take care of me. It turned out the first cord he brought out that he thought would work wouldn't when he opened up the case. So he got a second one which did. He only wanted $10 for it. I gave him the money and started to pick up the PC and he said, "Don't leave yet, let me bench check to make sure it worked. I don't want you to get home and it doesn't work". So he took the time to take it to the back bench to make sure it booted up correct. He also very politely told me that I had not used the on/off switch on the PSU so that when I got home I needed to turn it back on after plugging in the power cord. So only a $10 sale but I was treated like a huge business customer. Very glad I found this place and will recommend it to others if they are looking to buy a PC since they also had a few custom builds there for reasonable prices.

And then after they told me they couldn't do the job, I found an hour later that my USB chip for my mouse was gone. I'll give them credit, they drove 20 minutes to drop off the chip and were apologetic throughout the process. However, this does not take away from the fact that I felt that my experience was quite the headache and I had the increasing perception that the company lacked competence. Again, maybe I just had an unlucky experience, but personally I would not recommend this shop.

Gave my son back his computer in pieces (see pic) and in completely unworkable condition just prior to flying internationally. He told my son he bent the fans he took out. Big problem. No fix, just a suggestion to use bubble wrap. Seriously. Don't bring your computer here. I repeat. Don't bring your computer here. My son thought having fans replaced would be quick and easy. Instead he had his computer returned to him in peices. Bring your computer here at your own risk. My suggestion would be to go some place reputable who will guarantee their work.
