I went in to Riverside store 6/14/26 and asked about the cost to change the seal in a Hayward Super II pump. The salesman asked the distance from the pump to a wall behind it. I guessed about 5-6 inches. Then he said it would be $200 if there was enough room to take the housing off to get to the motor or up to $360 if there was not enough room and the pump had to be moved and move some of the pvc. He said I will stay with the quote. 6/17/26 I went to pay for the work. ----$304.36. I returned with their business card that I wrote $200-360 and asked why $304.36 when the pump did not need to be moved? The salesman replied that I should have said $300, then pointed to a sign that said Seal repair $249 or $250. I did not see the posted price since I was focusing on the discussion with the salesman and he DID NOT refer my attention to that posted sign! I do not recall if the sign says LABOR or explains PLUS PARTS. Final result: parts $49.99 labor $250.00 = Total $304.36 Beware and make sure THEY give you a COMPLETE written quote before you agree to the work. The pump is still working OK after three days. read more

Provided me with a pamphlet with specs and details. After a lot of research and review reading, I decided to purchase the S300i. Placed order 2 days later received a phone call letting me know s300i ready for pick up. Very happy with the purchase, Dolphin s300i very useful. It connects to a smartphone via dolphin app. has custom settings and can be programmed for cleaning schedules, can select levels of cleaning. Operates on 120v own power which is nice because the pool pump doesn't have to be running. Has a large catch basket/filter that easily washes with a garden hose. It's expensive but it's worth saving 2hrs of cleaning pool each time. read more

I had an emergency when my 15 year old Hayward waterfall pump stopped working and I had a party planned for the next weekend. I called Argus and told me that they could fix it within the week. I provided the exact model number of the pump that needed to be replaced over the telephone. A few days later the technician showed up with the wrong part and had to go back order the correct part. The next appointment came and went with no technician and no telephone call. I followed-up the next day and finally they had the correct part and were scheduled to install one day before my party. The installation went well and arrangements were made for me to pay in-store since the previous appointment was missed. A Centurion pump was installed instead of a Hayward and likely paid $150 more than if I had time to price shop. The motor has been working great since installation. I was not provided an itemized receipt at the shop and I was told that one would be mailed to me; it never came. I called two times after my in-store visit and still have not received my itemized receipt. I'm pleased that I had a running pump for my party but was disappointed that it went all week to the last day, never got a receipt and likely overpaid ($650 total). For the money, I should have received a Hayward pump. 2.5 stars! read more

I needed a pool cleaner part and not only did they have it ,it was a MUCH better price than Leslies.( I avoid leslies cuz they are VERY high priced and dont seem to care) These folks are VERY helpful.I replaced the diaphram of my G3 Zodiac pool cleaner and it still would not funcion correctly so I brought it to ARGUS.They GAVE me another new part to try and it worked.The best part is they would not charge me since we were not sure if that would solve the issue.It turns out I had gotten a defective part from amazon.They were kind enough to give me a replacement in the hopes it would work.Turns out they were right.I am going to go back to store and insist to pay for the part they gifted me.I appreciate the level of service they extended to a random customer.I will NEVER go anywhere else.Thanks ARGUS for restoring my faith in customer service !!! read more

Came here to have my water tested. I asked about the quantity of chemicals needing to be added. A guy came over and said "You don't actually measure your chemicals, wear gloves,and all that stuff,do you?!? All you have to do is pour half a bottle of liquid chlorine in the pool." WHY would you advise against wearing personal protective equipment?!? My pool requires muriatic acid each week and that wasn't mentioned. Liquid chlorine is unstable and not the best advice. The chemicals in this store look dirty as if it's been sitting for a long time. I'll never stay from Leslie's again! read more

Our Hayward pool vac was going in constant circles and getting tangled up in the hose. I tried to break it down myself to see if there was an issue, to no avail. So on Sunday we took it to Argus and Sam immediately went to work, grabbed his power screwdriver and broke the whole thing down. He showed us first hand how the current main gear had failed and stopped properly rotating (which I had suspected). I had a pool pump stop operating. Called Argus, they said no problem, came out to my house, told me I needed a new motor and impeller, would cost around $500. Took the motor, left parts strewn around. For the next three days I had to call to find out what was going on. Each day was same answer, tomorrow. Install scheduled for Friday morning. No show. Called to ask, got "tomorrow" again. Went to store and demanded motor/parts back as pool was turning green. Took to a competitor, Motor not bad, just capacitor. Impeller ordered and on hand in 12 hours. I spent $50 total versus the $500 Argus would have charged...except they never could complete the job nor keep me informed. They are either dishonest or incompetent. Best to avoid dealing with them. They didn't even seem to care that I was unhappy. read more

OK place for many years but.......the past few months we have been seeing a big change in the customer service. Was told a few months back we needed to replace the pool vacuum but thought that was strange so we went to Leslie's. They fixed it for $20, runs great. Then had another issue when the prices marked was different than what they charged and the bald guy started to freak out. I told him to calm down and showed him they were all marked less and he took the prices off, I then asked what he was charging because they were all marked this way and than again in a nasty tone said he wasn't loosing $ .....but I walked out and again we went to Leslie's. Guess what, same item way cheaper ($10 less) and much friendlier people there, ask for Angel he is awesome. Charge at Argus was not a good example of any customer service. So, after 13 years if going to Argus and knowing that they are not about the customer, lied about the pool cleaner a few months back and trying to screw around several times, then today's not so wonderful experience and this man's nasty tone TWICE and the immediate attitude that had been their mistake, I recommend you compare service and prices and see for yourself. Leslie's store is a two minute drive away (Magnolia/Ontario)and is cheaper and real easy to go to. Nice job Argus, lost our business permanently and got this review. There is always other places to go and that is what we did, plus saved $10. We also read another females review and seems maybe they think they can talk like that to a woman and rip folks off with lies to replace things instead of a cheap good fix, so..... ladies and gentleman BEWARE!
