I left a message requesting a service call. They returned the call the next day and Jake showed up a couple hours later. He diagnosed and fixed my pool heater within a half hour. All of my pool equipment is very old and probably discontinued. Two other pool repair companies came before Jake (The Pool Guy) and didn't even want to try to fix my heater. Both said that I needed to replace it and they tried to sell me their refurbished units. After fixing my heater, Jake did say my heater was indeed old and discontinued. He explained that if it ever breaks down and needs part(s) then it wouldn't be repairable because the parts aren't being made anymore. So, because of that, sooner or later I will need new equipment. I really appreciated his honesty and the fact he was able to get me up and running. Now, I can heat my pool and hot tub while I put money aside to pay for new equipment. And when I'm ready for the replacement, I'll be calling The Pool Guy (Jake). read more

If i can give Jake 10 Stars I would because he truly deserves it. My first experience with Jake was several months ago when I was calling around regarding my old Hayward pool heater not working. Everyone else I called was trying to sell me a new one but Jake said he thinks it could be fixed. Gave me a few tips and after I picked up a new heater control module, my heater was good as new and jacuzzi was nice and hot. A few months later, my Jacuzzi jets stopped working so I called Jake right away. He came out and did an inspection and suggested new filters and Walla... it WORKED. I haven't changed the filters since I moved in 3yrs ago and who knows when the prior owners changed them. I had no idea that would be a game changer for my jacuzzi and filtration system. Drive all the way from Menifee and pull up right at 4:59 to locked doors and associate pulling away. Sadly customer service is not high on their list of things to do. They don't answer the phone, don't reply to voicemails and are not confident in repairs. They quickly will say "I'm not sure if we can do that, it's ok if you want to call someone else to make the repair". But the biggest problem for me is them just not wanting to talk to there customers. read more

Outstanding work, excellent customer service, dependable, and honest. 2014 my pool heater went out, and being a DYI pool maintenance household I didn't have someone who could fix it. I didn't want to just call the local pool store chain. My first call for an estimate was The Pool Guy. Bob Saedi was able to swing by the same day. He looked over my equipment and found that due to the age of the heater it would be more cost effective to replace the heater versus replacing parts. After getting the okay he quickly returned with my new heater and his helper Jake Gunn who is an extremely bright young man. After they finished I was given a tutorial. Over the years when something breaks Jake has come to my rescue. It gives me great piece of mind knowing he's just a phone call away. In fact just today Jake did a repair that saved me money. Sunday while cleaning the salt cell my husband broke a PVC piece on our equipment and did a home patch job till I could get a hold of Jake. I took a picture of it and texted to him. The next business day Jake phoned me with questions to clarify the situation which he already had a solution in mind. Instead of cutting a bunch of plumbing which I didn't have a lot to work with in the first place, Jake's solution (See photo) was to cut off the cracked union and replace it with a split union. (Jake if you're reading this you are so clever!) Saved me money and it works perfectly. We've been with this company for 5 years, when they hire new person to clean our pool, the quality of service get bad. It's like a short cut when cleaning our pool. Algae keeps coming on our pool and I have to clean it on top of the pool guy cleaning. We noticed that he's not putting enough chlorine tabs that's why we're getting algae. It's frustrating. One day the owner knocked on our door and told us that we're not paying our monthly dues. We checked and we are up to date. Since they changed their new system online it's not updating their system. He had the guts to tell us and knocked on our door and accused us of not paying and it's ultimately his system was the issue. Great service and product line. After 20 years I decided to upgrade my equipment. I did attempt to get another bid from Leslies, but they charge for writing up an estimate. I did have a complete set of pictures, and Leslies estimate was quite a bit higher than The Pool Guys. The Pool Guys setup an installation day, and within a few hours of arriving I have a new pump, filter, heater and an upgraded wireless Aqualink system. I used the Pool Guy to purchase and install a new Pentair MasterTemp. My current one was ~ 20 yo, covered in rust and coming apart. I was impressed with how knowledgeable they were and fast. I think it only took them about an hour to replace the heater. They really seem to know their stuff. The total price for purchase and install was competitive as well. I plan on using them for any future work as well. FYI They never asked me to provide this review or even mentioned online reviews in any communication I had with them. Okay here's the thing I gave them another chance and they blew it. Jake, it's really cool that you kept trying but if you keep employing people that cant demonstrate professionalism then you're going to keep having a problem. The guy that ended up showing up to do our pool had a chip on his shoulder from the very beginning. We were having problems with the timer for the pump he said he fixed it and had it set to run all night (mind you our pool is super small) and he said that is how that particular pump is designed to run. I trusted that and let him do his thing. The problem is when we would run the jacuzzi we did something that reset it (first time pool owners here) and so I asked him next time he came if he could figure out why it wasn't running after we used the jacuzzi. He was irritated and very obvious about it. My husband was home for lunch one day and went out to talk to him and the first thing he said when he came back in the house was Wow, that guy doesn't like his job huh? And I was like ok good good at least it's not just me that caught that vibe. My husband is a super nice guy that gets along with everyone so I know it was definitely true. THEN we got our Edison bill. It was over $500 in a month where it wasn't even hot yet and we weren't running the AC so it had nothing to do with that. I told him obviously it wasn't "designed" to run all night if it was going to increase our bill that much. He said he needs it run all night so that it makes it easier for him to his job and I thought you mean so you don't have to work as hard... and I responded with well you aren't going to pay my Edison bill so we're going to have to come to sort of compromise. My step-dad who was here visiting and has worked for Intel as a water treatment specialist for the past 30 years helped us with some tips to keep the water looking nice in between visits and he was able to figure out the timer to where it ran for 4 hours at night during off peak times. After that our bill was good. I never went out to talk to the guy again but I would look out the window and see him doing little things like shaking his head, writing little notes that said DON'T TOUCH THE START BUTTON, one time there was a pair of goggles in the pool (probably from the wind because I always made sure everything was out by the time he came) and he took them out and threw them. Legit. Witnessed it with my own eyes. One day I noticed that when I got up in the morning the pool was still running. I called my husband and asked if he changed the timer and he said no. I asked him to check it when he got home but he forgot for a couple days. Then the next time I went downstairs and it will still running in the morning again and I realized there are some mornings that I don't go downstairs right away and I thought so this means it could have been running all night long for who knows how long! Then I got my Edison bill. $782 dollars. And before you say it's from the AC it's not because our AC is broken right now and we are in the process of getting quotes to replace it. I called Jake, no answer. He called me back the next day and I told him that I think the guy changed our timer to run all night again and I was really pissed about that because we specifically told him not to do that and we had it set to run for four hours which was more than sufficient to keep the pool looking good enough and so sorry that you have to actually do your job and maybe here a little longer than 15 mins which is the time they usually like to spend and that's it. No apologies, was just like well we need to figure something else out and at that point I was like you know what no, I'm done for real this time. He was like Okay, no problem I'll send you a bill for the one visit this month. I haven't paid the $30 yet but I will. The way I see it they owe me money for that Edison bill. But whatever, it's better to just be done with them. We bought a vacuum, professional skimmer and chlorine tablets and everything we needed for under a $100 and my husband took care of the pool last week and looks great. So bottom line, my advice is save yourself some money and a major headache and do it yourself. read more

Stay away from this business if you can. They sold me an Optimum Simple Cell 15 less than a year ago that has stopped working and they won't honor the warranty. Unfortunately I paid cash and can't find the receipt. They had me looking up my bank account and credit card account for proof when I realized I had paid cash. They then asked me to give them the date and they would look for the transaction. After a few days and bothering friends, we figured out the date. I called them back and gave them the date only to be told that without the receipt then can't honor the warranty. "Bad Business". They had me running around in circles for 5-6 days for nothing. The bottom line is they were trying to "not" honor the warranty all along. If they see the transaction exactly how I described it then what is the problem!! When a business wants to work with you, they will. Those are "GOOD" Businesses. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from that business.A representative at Optimum Pool Tech who is the manufacturer of the cell that is damaged states that they are somewhat flexible and list many options to make the warranty valid including a specific date which is what I provided.. Very disappointed!! Hired The Pool Guy service and Jake was so nice......until there was a problem. Our SECOND service I came home to water pouring off our roof (we have a solar heating system that we turned the valves off to for over a year due to being broken), went to turn off the filter and noticed one of the valve handles that shuts off the water supply to the solar was broken. It was obvious, plus I know my equipment, that it was a fresh break. I called Jake and left him a message immediately and explained that I think the technician may have stepped on the valve and it broke, leaving it a bit open, allowing water to flow to the solar on the roof. He said he would talk to the tech and the owner Bob. I told him to speak with my husband thereafter. He called my husband and said "Apparently, your wife has accused my tech of breaking something". Then proceeded to say he talked to his technician who told him he didn't break anything.....then said that he spoke with the owner Bob, and they agreed that their tech didn't do it. Did not offer to come take a look, or even consider that there was any wrongdoing on their part. Was rude and matter of fact that his tech didn't do anything...again, without even offering to look at the issue at hand. Incredibly poor customer service. Disappointed in all aspects. read more

The worst pool service ever! They serviced the pool where I live for over a year because we were renting at the time, we were stuck with them because the owner paid for their services but during that time, they would NOT take the time to clean the correct way. The filters were never maintained on time overflowing the pool with leaves. Several times they would walk out and leave the valves open or the hoses out of the pool without informing us. I got used to walking out after they left just to make sure the valves were not open. They also changed pool guys so often and each time the new one would leave something messed up, either the chlorine tables were directly in the pool, the valves open! Terrible. I could do a better job for less $$. When the house was sold to us we decided to get rid of them and leave it alone but unfortunately the week before we fired them the pool guy BROKE our vacuum and just walked out without telling anyone. My husband noticed the hose and vacuum just sitting out of the pool and when we walked over it was completely broken! Bob the owner just glued it back on and of course it fell apart again with the water. He would not work with us and pretty much told us the vacuum was old and that was our problem. I will never recommend their services to anyone. TERRIBLE. read more

Best pool service ever. They come every week and I mean every week never once have they not come. My pump went out last winter and I had them install a new energy efficient pump and new heater since mine was bad and they re-plumbed all the lines so everything would work better and did an amazing job. I couldn't be happier. I have had a pool my whole life and was taught and raised by my dad to clean it. Never thought I would have a pool service but when you work so much it's hard to keep it looking good but they do it for you and you never have to worry about anything. Had a terrible experience with this company. We hired this company 6 months ago and while our Jake our pool cleaner was very attentive and responsive the owner of the company was very shady. He tried to charge us for an "extra" service without our approval and after speaking to them about that and the fact I would have random strangers enter our backyard to clean our pool without notice whenever our regular guy couldn't make it. I spoke to them simply stating I needed to be notified when strangers I don't know are coming into my backyard and that I needed to be notified of anything that needed to be done so that I could ensure what they are charging me was actually done they quit. Recently moved to Corona and before we closed escrow i was already in search of pool service. Jake had been servicing the pool with our previous owners. Jake conducted the pool inspection while in escrow and was very knowledgeable about the equipment. When we first moved in I wanted to try a different company just because i've never owned a pool ad the other company offered a bit different service.. waste of time. I went back to Jake because he knows our pool and the equipment and has always taken the time to explain things to me to maintain our pool. Our equipment is pretty old and the heater wasn't working and the light was out. We still have a warranty for the first year in the house and Jake encouraged me to work with the warranty company first so I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. I saved a ton of money having the warranty take care of the heater, unfortunately the light wasn't covered. This morning I left Jake a message saying we needed the light fixed and needed it ASAP because we are having a party. It's only 11am and he's literally in our pool replacing the light as I type. So far my experience with Jake has been great. I appreciate the time he takes to explain and educate me on keeping my pool clean. I have been using the pool guy for a couple months now on and off. I originally needed them for some equipment repairs and a one time chemical and cleaning service. Jake came out right away and got the job done and did it well. He explained everything that needed to be done in full detail. My equipment is about 18 years old so it needs some help, and Jake did a great job getting it running properly again. If I ever had an issue with it he would come out right away and look at it. I just had him and Bob install a brand new heater (ours stopped working about 5 years ago) and he gave me a good quote on a new one with the installation and even after that something was wrong with the gas line, they came back the next day and blew the line out for me with no extra charge! And to go a step further, I didn't need a pool maintenance service because I do it myself, but Jake went ahead and told me some great tips that I didn't know about, which I thought was awesome if him doing!
