I highly recommend Argus Pool Supply! Outstanding customer service! I have two pool vacuums (Hayward Navigator and the Zodiac MX8) and couldn't get either to work. Noland from Argus was out here this morning, made a change to the skimmer valve by rotating it 45° which increased the suction, changed the two Pod Swings, and now the Navigator is zipping around and cleaning like new. I have tried many pool supply companies in the past here in Corona, which would a lot lower rating, but Argus gets the full 5-Stars! Many thanks to Noland and Scott (both of them are very helpful). The customer service at this location seems to be going down hill along with the lack of product experience from these kids working the counter. I had my pentair rebel pool cleaner rebuilt with a cost over $150. I was unhappy with the rebuild as the cleaner was still not covering the pool like it did new. I bought a new pentair rebel from Argus and this new cleaner would never make its way to the shallow end. I questioned the Argus employee about this and he responded saying this was common and most cleaners do not make their way up to the shallow end. I have now taken my business to Amazon to purchase a new Hayward Pool Cleaner now and couldn't be more happier. This thing cleans my entire pool floor. I know find a sour taste in my mouth to return to Argus for my local pool needs. read more

First off I have to say that Argus was my go to for all my pool related needs. Even though I had a Leslie's close to the house, I would drive the extra few miles to talk with the guys at Argus. The last two times the guy working behind the counter was not helpful. In fact, I had him run a water sample just a couple days ago and he said I had NO CHLORINE in the pool at all. I thought that was weird since the water never looked better. He said he ran it twice and even told us our salt was low. Also weird since the cell said we were at 100%. So he sold me a case of chlorine and a bag of salt. Since I didn't feel confident I ended up stopping by Leslie's for another water test. I included a picture. Chlorine was actually above where it needed to be and salt was ok but could use a bag. I'm glad I didn't add a case of chlorine, but I was out the money for it. It's disappointing that my go to pool company may not be anymore. I hope the owner knows that his staff is ruining the reputation of a once great company. I've been using Argus weekly pool service since we moved to Corona in 2019. Our first year or so was really good, our pool guy Mike was awesome and always communicated with us if there were any issues. However, since Mike left Argus, the service has gone downhill, and our bill has increased 50% over that short period of time. We have had service issues, billing issues, and now customer service issues over the last year. Yesterday, we received an email notifying us that the pool guy refused to service our pool that we pay $40 per visit for because of a backyard remodel taking place. Since the remodel should have no effect on one's ability to service the pool, I was really surprised by this and gave them a call to get an explanation or some type of game plan on how we can proceed in the coming weeks during the remodel. I was instead quickly met with an argument and them canceling our service. Argus is a good place to grab your pool supplies, and I believe the guys and girls working at the store know their stuff. However, if you're looking to get your pool serviced or repaired, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. We should have saved ourselves some of the headache and canceled our service awhile back. read more

Sadly leaving a bad review on the customer service for Argus pool and also for the contractor/expert they hired to come to my home. We purchased a Pentair pool heater after rats had infested the prior one we owed. When Clint the pool expert advised we needed a new heater. I asked if I could get away with purchasing a smaller one since I never really use it (living in Corona). Clint was nice and easy going. He said I would probably have to leave it on for about 15 min longer but that the size was not a big deal. The heater was installed and I asked if I had anything to worry about with rats getting in as I live on a hillside. The answer was "no, these things come rat proof now, you are all set, if anything just place used cat litter or Irish spring bars near the heater and u will be fine". 4 months later the heater wasn't working so we called Argus and they sent the same expert "Clint" right over. Only this time around we did not receive the nice repair expert but instead it turned out to be a very unprofessional individual. I was told they could not an estimated time of when he would arrive but at least a 30 min heads up. Instead I had Clint ring the doorbell and instead of waiting for someone to answer the door he let himself into the backyard and began getting into the heater. He announced that rats had gotten into the heater again and when asked about how they got in since he stated that rats would not be a problem anymore he literally shot up his hands and stated, " I don't like where this is going, I don't need this shit" and stormed out. When later speaking to management about whether Clint had told us if it was rat proof or not he stated it was a word vs word situation. Now the rat problem is not their issue as I live on a hillside and that's always going to be a problem. My problem is why wouldn't you tell us that the heater unit sold to us is NOT rat proof! We are going to be having the same problem as we did! The only thing the manager from Argus did was to give us information for a "Real Expert pool" person to come out and try to repair the damage caused by the rats. He told us that he did not understand why the heater had been installed the way it was with the exhaust leaving a huge gap for rats to get in. He said it was done correctly but it was left for them to easily get in. Of course I had to pay another thousand to repair this unit and thankfully it works now. He gave us a "Real Guide" to prevent any future infestations and we haven't had an issue since. Argus still refused to even apologize for the bad service Clint gave and simply stated they would talk to him about that. It sounds like this Clint is going around pulling a scam so beware who they send to your home... as he lets himself in. read more

He had no clue about Kreepy cleaner parts but pretended like he did. Instead of saying "I don't know", or let me look that up, he used vulgar language and asked me to leave. Even one of his employees confirmed that sometimes he's just that way. If I could give the store ZERO stars, I would. I will be shopping at Leslie's from now on. We have been using these guys for more than 10 years and had relatively few issues until our regular pool guy, Mike, moved out of the area, a few years ago. Since then, the person they sent out for service changed every few months, with varying degrees of results (mostly not so good). When we hired them, we made sure they knew how to service a salt water pool, that they knew we had dogs (and so had to arrive within the window they stated so we'd have the dogs locked inside). Since mike left, we've not had a service person who knows anything about salt water pools, and they keep dumping chlorine into the pool instead. On two occasions, when water conditioner was added, some of white powder was dumped on the coping and if we didn't catch that, our dogs could have gotten into it and been poisoned. On two occasions, the servicer left our front gate ajar allowing our dogs to get out into the street. The person who came to clean the filters was someone completely different than the pool servicer and showed up at any old random time with no advanced notice. Since Mike left, we've rarely had the servicer come during the time window promised. The last time we called to complain about this, we were told that since they have so many new clients they cannot any longer promise a timeframe when the servicer will come. So now you have one less old customer. read more

I only buy chlorine and products from and have had our filter, heater and pump replaced all perfectly (over last 10 years). If you just do this, you should be ok. I do all my own cleaning so I don't fall into the category that others on this rating have fallen into. Our pool has never been better! A technician, Nolan, came to service our pool and it has been running wonderfully ever since. The day he came our spa water had been draining and we were completely unaware. He fixed the issue and even got the waterfall to run perfectly, which it hadn't in years! I've been going to Argus for over a year now. The staff is very knowledgeable and listens to your issue prior to giving advice or recommendations on your course of action. They test your water for free, they have great pricing on Chlorine and Acid and have many parts in stock. My problem, I had an issue with my Pump Priming. The team listened to my issue and gave me some tips to check prior to getting a service call out to my house. That blew me away, someone was looking out for my pocketbook. Their tips helped and for $9, I was able to get the priming issue fixed because of a Jandy Valve gasket. We have purchased our Chlorine cases from Argus Pool for years with no problems. Recently we purchased a case that had a leaking container and it destroyed the rug in our SUV. When I asked if they should be checking their Chlorine cases before they sell them they said that it's not their responsibility. They said the Chlorine Distributor is responsible for the leaking cases! Just be aware that they have No Quality Control and they don't care! read more

Was looking for pool cleaning service options and stopped in to inquire about obtaining an estimate for weekly service. I was given a date and time frame for the initial inspection which was a no show but then called and came a day or two later...no problem. When Oscar arrived he checked out the pool and equipment, even took a water sample to be evaluated and answered a couple of questions. He appeared very knowledgeable which was a selling point for me and he said he would reach back out to me within a few days. Once again, no problem. I did receive one vm mssg and called him back the next day along with several other calls back within the next 1-2 weeks. No response at all. Stopped by the store 3 times since, asked if there was any issue why Oscar never would return calls. The young man working the desk looked up the notes and provided me with the monthly estimate along with a few other items that needed attention. I asked if he knew which day(s) I could have the weekly service done but he could not answer since only Oscar would know that. At the third visit I once again inquired as to what the problem was in trying to have Oscar call back and to probably start the regular service, he did not know. I asked if the owner was available with the response of "he's never here" with no assurance of letting him know of my inquiry. I am assuming both owner and Oscar are very well off and don't need to be bothered with new accounts which I can accept. Just not certain why they would take any time to come out in the first place, take a water sample, evaluate that sample, make notes as to all pricing and then......ignore the potential client. read more

I have been going to Argus since my pool was built over 20 years ago. I have stayed with them during all the ups and downs in service quality, but today I finally reached my limit. Not that it matters much since I am moving out of state in June, but I will sure to let the new owners of my home know all about my experience today. I noticed some small areas of green in my pool this morning and tested for chlorine,. It came out OK, just a little high. I took a water sample in to Argus to see what needed to be done. A very polite young man tested and advised that pH was a little high (I had added some acid after collecting the sample I brought in) , the conditioner was good, but that there was almost no chlorine in the water. I knew my test solution was a couple of years old so I took him at his word and purchased the three gallons of chlorine he recommended along with a new bottle of test solution and left. I did another test of the pool when I got home, this time using the new solution and it came out OK, just a little high. Just like before. I returned to Argus with a new water sample. A different employee checked it and it was OK, just a little high. I let him know about the error with the first test and requested to return the chlorine as I wouldn't have agreed to purchase it if the first test had been done correctly. He told me they could not take chlorine back due to a state law. After a little more discussion, an older employee inserted himself into the discussion and began repeating that they couldn't take it back due to the law. I let him know that I understood that, but it remained that the other employee's error had cost me as I would not have purchased it without the test error. He said that I would have to leave the chlorine for the new owner. (I had told hi m we were moving) I asked him if they were going to make it right. He raised his voice and said they would not give a refund and that there were no ifs ands or buts about it and that he would call the police.. He also included some profanity for good measure. It's important to note that up until this point I was polite and civil as I just wanted to be made whole due to Argus' mistake. His threat to call the Police about what to then had been a civil discussion with a customer got the better of me. Sadly he learned that I too have a loud voice, but that I can speak profanity at the equivalent of a Ph.D level and gave him the full treatment verbally before leaving. It's very sad that Argus would not stand up and do the right thing after one of their employees made a mistake. It's even sadder to treat a long time customer so poorly. Understanding that they could not resell the chlorine due to a law , a refund should have been given nonetheless. Zero stars earned read more

These guys are great! I've been coming here for the past 2 years and have always had a great experience when I come in. The guys are very informative and have been a big help for me. I really appreciate their honestly; I once called to schedule a repair on my pump, when I told them what my issues were they advised me how to fix it instead of paying for a repair call. These guys have very bad service ...they came to repair my pool, said need to repipe, next thing was a leak on the "repipe" and problem no fixed. I called them again; they didn't show up, instead they called and said problem was the pump. That was weird because they never checked the pump. My solar company was installing a new pump so I told him that if problem continue I call them.......and that's what I did. They said this time they'll go back to fix it. Well they never show up, don't even call. I had to call another technitian to fix it and he did it in 20 min. Three weeks later I got a bill for $169.29. Charlie the store manager was very rude talking on the phone. He said will send me to collection when I never said I won't paid. End the story I paid for a service that was never done. Also be careful about asking them for referrals. Pool guy they referred to me was the one who created the problem in my pool. read more

My dad and I try do most of our own maintenance and these guys are always very helpful. I just replaced my pool pump motor and Bill was extremely helpful, I had to make a couple of trips but got it done and it's working perfectly. Would not advise using them for your weekly service. When my pool malfunctioned and the water level dropped it ruined the pump and their solution to the problem was "well I just won't be your pool service company anymore" how professional is that? Tell the customer to go fly a kite and become defensive when I asked them why didn't they try to determine what was malfunctioning. Instead they chose to put a door hangar on my back door telling me I better fill my pool or the pump will blow up! Don't count on them to fix anything! read more

Oscar the service guy was horrible. He was contracted through the original people that did the work for my jacuzzi lighting. The first time he was suppose to come by and clean the pool, he told us he was en-route and never showed up. The next day, he said he would come by 8 am he did not show up until 4:30 pm. I thought the issue was with the contractor because when he did finally come, he said the contractor was not answering his calls, however, my contractor said he never answered his calls..Anyway, our pool was going need work done so he quoted us $525 to fix the issues. I went through my home insurance since I am a new homeowner and they sent their own contractors to check what the issue was. I called Argus and spoke to Allen and booked another appointment to get the service completed by them since they had originally came out first. I felt I owed them that much. Well I called on a Tuesday to schedule and the next opening was on Saturday from 10 am-2 pm, we took the appointment. On Saturday Oscar called me at 1:30 pm to tell me he wanted to reschedule for Monday because he was "in a hurry". I told him that was not an excuse to cancel on me after waiting on him all mid-morning and afternoon. My husband even missed my daughters competition to wait on him. He then said he could come but not until 2:30 pm -4:30 pm and that it would now cost me $600 because it required more time to complete the work. This is the worst customer service experience. I decided to call back and cancel my appointment with Alex because I was so aggravated with his excuse to not show up and the fact that he was trying to now charge me more to complete the work. Like how do you raise the quote out of nowhere and without even showing up. I would not trust this guy at all and I would not recommend for him to show up at your house to do any kind of pool service. Maybe the other guys are great but not this one. Too bad, Argus Pool Supply had to lose a job because of the lack of service of their technician. read more

Let me start with WOW. Worst customer service I have ever encountered with any business. I just moved to corona and contacted argus to come out and give me a quote and start a pool service. The pool man shows up and tells me my salt cell didn't work and that they will test the filter pressure and water to see if everything is ok with the system. I was out of town when they came by and did there work. So upon my return home I did not see any difference in the appearance of the pool. I called them, they were extremely rude on the phone and told me the salt cell would be around $500.00 and water tested good. At this point I decided to get a second opinion of a well respected pool service who my friends use. Good thing I did. He came out and discovered the only reason the cell was not working was because it was unplugged and that my pool water was not ok, as it was old and not responding to treatment. He also took the filter apart that Argus said was good to go, and showed me how it was one of the dirtiest he has seen. After 1 week of service I cancelled the Argus service and they still had the audacity to send me a bill for a full month of service. I once again called the office to ask about the over charge, the manger told me I owe $23.50 and to never to call them again and hung up on me. Great management. Beware of these guys. read more

Worst customer service ever. I have bought most of my pool supplies and equipment from them for the past few years and they've always been a little rough around the edges in the store. However I schedule an appointment to look at my equipment and heater and then no show the appointment. So I call them up and ask them why I hadn't heard from anyone and they said its because I didn't send the pictures of the pool equipment so they weren't going to bother to come out. But if I really want and they would schedule me another appointment in another week. I find it ridiculous that they wouldn't come out and look at pool equipment to find out what's wrong with it and expected me to send them pictures first. But the reason I'm writing the article is because Charlie said it's my fault and that's why they didn't come. Really Charlie! read more
