We went here on a date and there were lots of things to do. They have a sky trail, small zip line, and rock climbing. There's a laser room and an obstacle course too. We spent about 2 hours here. Lots of kids come here so book later times (probably past 7 if you want to avoid them). read more

Huge laser tag arena! Friendly tip, unless you want to engage in HIT training while trying to enjoy an eventful game of laser tag, bring a larger group. Not to say that we don't have any friends, BUT, we came with a party of 8 , and let me tell you, a 4v4 laser tag game in an arena fit for probably 15+ people... not the best idea. However, this was such an amazing place and fun time! You get outfitted with stylish vests and laser tag guns that use to be paintball guns to give you that real heavy weapon feel (but as our lovely instructor had said, resist the temptation to pistol whip someone =D). The field itself is huge with lots of places to hide, run, sprint, and shoot. They play some pretty decent music too as your running around. The games last about 15 mins then you get a quick break. Feel free to go back to the lounge and play some games, then your party is called back into action! I would come back and definitely recommend this to folks of all ages, whether your here for a kid bday party or an office event, Area 53 is the BEST! There were very few activities available for customers and the majority of what was available was either out of service or had an additional cost even though it was located in the main area. amazing place for kids. we had a lot of fun here. my only complaint is my son sprinted his ankle jumping in the ball pit. it looks a lot deeper then it really is. and on my visit i watched many kids do the same thing. they really need to fill the ball pits to a safer level for kids read more

I came here for a birthday party for 2 hours. We got three sessions of 15 minutes each. The laser tag doesn't have identified weapons for teams, so you're just trying to remember faces of your team mates. The only target is your gun (not a vest) and some players hide the gun. The guns are sometimes faulty, and you lose "health" without getting shot. The staff guy just stared at his phone the whole time, not helpful. Easy to fall on slippery floor and no one to help you get up. Some laser obstacles are deflated and fall easily. The lights are very bright - easy for other team to see you. Finally, your "health" goes down very quickly and you have to go back to base often to get respawned. You spend most of your time at the base just trying to respawn. If I were in the area looking for fun I'd go to Beat the Bomb a block away. read more

Growing up is tough. You lose touch with friends. You feel the grind of daily work life. You experience more and more health issues. But sometimes, you recapture a glimpse of your youth, like that time you went to play laser tag as a kid. And then you remember that life can be fun again, even in 2019. Anyway, my work team and I were running out of "cool" "alternative" team outing activities, and lo and behold, there was a giant banner outside of Pedro's restaurant advertising a new laser tag spot (side note: do not eat at Pedro's). We booked a private mid-day session for our group, and we were off! The place is basically a warehouse that looks like it could also be a house music venue. There's the upper catwalk level where reception is, with sofas, a mini basketball game, some darts (way too dark to play in that area), and giant Connect Four and giant Jenga. It's also where the bathroom/water fountains, and the equipment for the games is located. Downstairs is the actual gameplay area. Lots of random pieces of construction paraphernalia like forklift pallets, traffic barriers/cones, and other random pieces of wood. Good thing you have to sign a waiver, because it can be splinter central. the space is big and there's lots of side rooms and other nooks to hide behind, so you'll definitely get a workout. There are some quirks that I need to call them out on though: -Unlike other laser tags, the gun is the sensor for getting shot. It's a little generous, but you can't shoot people from behind and if you're with people who like to bend the rules, it's easy to just hide your gun behind your body. -Some of the guns weren't working, and we had to restart our game after complaining. The guy was just like "oh yeah, sometimes that gun has issues." Well... how about taking it out of rotation then?? -The scoring system can be confusing (they forgot to explain it to us), but once we got the hang of it, it's not that bad (the gun as an LED screen that lights up that tells you what your superhero nickname is, and then that's the name you can look up on the screen to see your stats). -We're fairly certain some of our stats weren't being counted properly (e.g. I definitely hit a lot more people than it said I did). -One of the team bases is a lot easier to spawn camp than the other. It makes the game pretty one-sided and frustrating. -Because they use construction equipment for the set, it's sometimes hard to tell what's actually real construction. There was some actual caution tape that I think we were supposed to obey. Also, some weird puddles in one of the rooms. They told us we could use them strategically, but I'm pretty sure those were just puddles. Other than that, it's a really fun time. Plus, it's pretty cheap! The package we got included 3 games, but you can only stick to one type of equipment (e.g. 3 games of laser tag, or 3 games of archery tag). We did two team vs. team games and then one free-for-all, which was surprisingly fun (since it's infinite lives and no need to go to the respawn). Definitely give them a go! read more

This place is awesome! Came here on a Saturday for a friend's 30th b-day party and our group of about 15 had the best time! Lets start at the beginning, laser tag is fun. It was fun when you were 10, it is still fun today, and will continue to be fun until you are old at heart and crotchety and yell at kids to get off your lawn. The staff here is super nice, and they let you bring your own food/drinks in and give you an area to hang out in between games. The hang out area has it's own games (ping pong, big jenga and connect four) as well as couches to lounge on and tables for your stuff. Our group didn't feel at all rushed, and overall the night felt like hanging out at your buddy's apartment, if their apartment had laser tag in the basement. I'll definitely be back the next time I want to remember that I'm still capable of fun. read more

Honestly, it could have been better, for 54 dollars admission plus paying the games inside is not worth it. During my experience, I noticed that many games were out of service, some other games were glitching while being used. Also, after purchasing the cards to pay for the games, some machines will charge you and the were broken to begin with. Furthermore, soke individuals were smelling like weed (not a pleasant smell). Adding to that the rolling skate rim was very bumpy making impossible to find stability while skating. I do have to say that the Zip lining was the best part of the experience, other than that I cannot give this place a thumb up, very disappointed. read more

Came for a work event. Super accomodating staff as our headcount changed, and we needed some more time to organize ourselves. Highly recommend this place, as it's perfect for socialization. They've got ping pong, foosball, giant connect 4, giant jenga, those basketball nets at an arcarde and more all in the waiting area. Good for bonding. You have 3 rounds of gameplay downstairs on the field, which has giant obstacles. Each round is a different formar. There were definitely some puddles and potential hazards but adds to the play-fighting of it all. It's large and spacious, so can definitely get your cardio in. Will definitely be back! read more

The place is amazing! Had my son 10th birthday party last night and everything was great. Huge space, both for the laser tag arena and lounge area, so the kids had plenty of space to run during their sessions and then relax/ play in the lounge area during the breaks. You bring your food/ drinks and are completely free to set up your own party space. Staff was extremely accommodating. When the time was up nobody rushed us out like most party places and it was just a super relaxed setting. It was overall a great experience and I highly recommend it. read more

I had so much FUN here!! I went with a group of 8 to celebrate a good friend birthday on a Thursday night. The host was super nice and super friendly. She made us feel very welcome, explained the rules pretty clear and even took picture for their Instagram. They offer camo vests and their gun is very light way. The waiting area is full with lots of games that we can play until it's our turn.Downstairs was the area which we played and surprisingly it was a pretty good size with minimal hiding places. The shooting was easy and if you die the respawn was 15 second. It was more than enough time to catch you breath. The only down size was that we had to buy water due to their water fountain being down. We were very thirsty at the end. read more

Horrible. Probably the worst field ive been to. Overpriced, super dirty with paint, airsoft hours are horrible. Very short amount of hours for amount you pay to play (42 dollars for only 3 hours) and they switch airsoft and paintball so you only basically play for 1.5 hours. Bunch of cheaters in airsoft. The place was very spacious and the two attendants at the front desk were extremely nice and considerate of our friends arriving a little late. They accommodated us so we could all play together. This review was only for the Adventure Park section, as that's all me and my party participated in. The activities themselves are fine. They have a skyrail, rock climbing, roller skating. The sky rail I never got to participate because the buy who was reponsible for clipping in the patrons told me and bf to go to the end of the line (there was no line) and then before we know it, because pushed in front of us and a cluster formed and we were just shoved out of the way. After a while, we just decided to go on something else because the guy who was clipping people in was just blatantly ignoring us. The skating was cute, small rink, and the litte rack thing that's supposed to help you keep your balance is so rickety it's really more of a health hazard. Would work better for children, not grown adults. It feels like a glorified ChuckECheese. The part that I was really not of a fan of is that most of the people who work there seemed like they're just not paid enough to care (and they probably are not, seeing that they all looked like highschool kids who might be working for less than minimum wage). Of course, this is only MOST of them. A couple were very nice and courteous. This is not a comment on the poor attitude of the workers, it's a comment on poor management. None the less, it made the experience there unpleasant. Quite a few games and rides are also out of order. Lots of small kids (4-6) running around areas that patrons are supposed to be swingging around, and that honestly just seems like a health hazard. Oh and, bring cash. If you want to buy drinks or food (small limited snack menu) they only take cash. It could've been a much better experience if the place was managed better as a whole. It seems like a place more suited for small kids/parties for small children. I myself would not be going back. read more

So I've played laser tag here once and at LIC Indoor Extreme Sports several times. Each has pros and cons. Area 53 pros: * Cheaper * Larger arena, abandoned warehouse vibe * Waiting area with games and other things to do * Clean bathrooms * Water fountain Area 53 cons: * They only play deathmatch, no capture the flag or anything else * Not enough obstacles. It's really easy to just hide and shoot at people when they run through the empty space between obstacles. You can't sneak up as easily. * No cell phone reception underground (but they have Wi-Fi) Area 53 sensors are on the gun itself, which I guess is good because you can't hide your body behind the wall and shoot around the wall, but is also bad because you can hold it behind obstacles too easily. read more

They promised us the party space for as long as we needed but the next party came and started taking over our space . I think this place is better for older players . read more

The kids had a blast and they kept the laser tag games coming so the kids had 15 minutes of pure madness / 15 minutes of rest to grab a snack and play some foosball followed by another 2 rounds of laser tag. First time there with a large group (12+) of early to mid twenties. Overall experience was a ton of fun and highly recommend without qualifications, especially if they haven't played in a while. The rest of the review is more meant for management as this place is new (around for a month by the time we've went) and I hope this place can last since it's a...blast. Hard to see where the lasers land when firing and the target area of the gun seems like some type of RFID with a rather large radius. Just an observation and I'm sure it's been optimized for making sure people hit more targets than not so that everyone has fun. The glass panes are rather funny and cool as you can easily shoot through and spam players running through. Definitely intended IMO. Map is extremely one side (favors the side further away from the staircase entrance) and although one can make the argument that both sides are usually played to ensure fairness, the ability to camp from afar and shoot directly into the 'safe zone' is an annoyance for players respawning. What usually happens is that you walk out holding the gun behind your body in hopes of making it out. However when it comes to the capture the flag game mode, the base near the spawn is incredibly difficult to attack relative to the ease of attack of the far side base. If you get 4 out of 6 right away, you've pretty much won the game already since you can camp near your base and defend via simple critical mass. Need some rule change around either camping or repositioning the flag base. The feel of the map itself is very rugged and allows for player creativity which is a huge plus. Very unlike most areas I've ever been to so kudos there. Biggest problem - when you 'die' and respawn, we are told to go back to the base and wait there as that was the only way we were supposedly able to recover. However it's way too easy to hide somewhere close to where you were hit and not go all the way back which ruins the entire dynamic of a safe zone (which you can hit and be hit within) to respawn. Solution may be to implement some type of gun charger that forces players to RFID their gun once they are killed, that way they will actually go back. Lastly, the way the guns are set up makes it way too easy to peak with your body or with the hit box still behind a pillar or wall and abuse the advantage of being 'invincible.' Maybe the numbers and depreciation on laser tag vests make it a massive expense and upkeep or it was intended to make things more fun and high pace but it's a problem players can consciously and also unknowingly exploit and breaks the 'fairness' of the game tremendously. One solution that would address problems right away would be to have refs in the game. Even having one ref would ensure players follow the rules given rather than exploit loopholes that I would consider to be game breaking. That way players would feel the psychological effect of being watched and there is a realistic option of reporting misbehaving players to disincentive taking advantage of obvious loopholes. I'm hoping to come back again but I'm wary of the unfairness factor eventually driving away repeat business, especially if customers are self selective and generally young and competitive. One star, because zero is not an option. I placed two calls to the establishment with some genera questions about my booking. The first call, was greeted with a pretty rude and disinterested associate-i asked a few questions - met with attitude and brief response, lacking clarification. The call mysteriously was disconnected. I called back and asked if i was hung up on- the associate said no. No apology if it indeed was actually disconnected. I called back today, hoping to be met with better assistance. Although it was not the same associate, i was met with the same instant attitude. This time, i asked was there an issue with me asking questions- as i am simply trying to clarify what to expect for my session, which is valued at $500! Again, i was hung up on. I called back and immediately the line clicked again. Obviously, this is just the nature of the associates at this establishment. Upon asking for a manager, i was told i need to email (which i have) have worked in customer service for many years, and this is absolutely the opposite of what I expected from an establishment, especially one in which I would be spending hundreds of dollars. Needless to say, I will not attending My scheduled booking. If this is how customers are treated, i can only imagine what the vibe will be in person. read more

Did paintball which the game itself was pretty fun (wish they gave more amo and you didn't have to spend an additional 15$ for another bag) but the main takeaway was the extremely rude staff. Went with my boyfriend and friends and I thought I was going crazy however they all made comments about how uncomfortable we felt. I understand they have to be strict when operating paintball guns however before we even walked in we were being screamed at. There was no reason for the staff to be cursing with five year olds they let in running around. They even asked us why we all seemed so scared after they treated us like we were in preschool. Our group followed the rules and listened to when the instructors spoke. We were standing in line trying to load our guns before the game had even started and we were told to "move the fuck up" or they would start deducting minutes from our time. It's a shame because it was fun to paintball but the employees really took away from the whole experience. I never write a bad review but this was just a crazy experience that shouldn't have happened when we're paying all this money to go. I'm from queens and I understand New Yorkers are rough, but that is absolutely no way you should speak to anyone; especially people that are paying you. read more

I came here for a friend's birthday celebration. Laser Tag is always fun, especially if you go with a group of great friends. So overall, the experience was positive. However, I was very disappointed by the staff and the customer service. The staff is standoffish and rude. When asked for help with the equipment, which seemed to be a bit faulty, they were defensive and slow to address the problems. It seems like operations could be ran better and coordinating to ensure all the equipment is working before starting a game would improve the experience. Quite a few people had to stop during their 15 minute round to go upstairs and exchange guns. This feels like a total waste of time and therefore money as we we are sharply told when your 3- 15 minute rounds are up. I wouldn't mind coming back with a good group of friends, but hope they address these issues in the future so it doesn't feel like a waste. read more

Horrible customer service. My friends and I went in as a walk-in at 1:20 and were told there would be a 30 minute wait. However, once it hit 2:00, they let a different group of people go before us even though we were supposed go first. We waited for another 30 minutes to get an update on the situation only to be told we would have to wait another hour. WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY! I just got back from area 53 and first off the LOCATION STINKS!!! its located next to a industrial and recycle area where it already looks sketchy with very limited parking. This horrible place isn't cheap either since its like 42 bucks per person and it doesn't COVER EVERYTHING. If you're going to charge that much at least the food should be free or the arcade games too. I bought my kids with me and expected a decent time but no no no there are tons of kids there having the same idea we did to had a good time and was a bit crowd. All of the desirable stuff like walkway and skating is jam pack and no way we going to wait at least an hr to play. And the other stuff i want to do there was no staff to oversee anything and other peps were hogging the whole thing. As i mention if you are going to charge an arm and a leg to get in at least the arcade should be free while you're waiting endlessly for your place in line but no these greedy owners have to nickel and dime you with everything. i HAVE NO INTEREST EVER GOING THERE AGAIN and rather go to Dave and busters because at least you have fun and don't wait in line forever waiting for a game read more
