I've had a really hard time reaching anyone at Beat the Bomb Brooklyn. I've been to other Beat the Bomb locations before and never had this much trouble contacting staff. This location is also noticeably more expensive -- the Paint Foam mission is $51.95 per person (excluding tax and fees) with a minimum of 4 people, and if you only have 2-3 people, it jumps to $100 per person. The Arcade Blast is $39.95 per person (minimum 3 people), also excluding tax and fees -- and they don't even offer the optional Bomb Blast ending here. They only take online orders, and when I email, I don't get a response until around 4:55-5:00 PM, which makes it really hard to coordinate plans or get help during the day. When I call, I'm left on hold for almost an hour with no one answering. In fact, staff at other Beat the Bomb locations are welcoming and friendly -- but at the Brooklyn location, the staff just stand around and come off as uninterested and not nice. We're customers paying a lot of money to bring friends and have a good time, but this is a bad example of how to make that happen. It's really hard to reach anyone or feel taken care of. read more

So I took my cousins here in 2019 and they LOVED it. When they came back to visit me in NY, this was the #1 activity they mentioned to do. Beat the bomb unequivocally requires teamwork. There are 8 max per group and if you can't communicate with each other, you will not be successful enough to "beat the bomb" (though beating the bomb is pretty hard as it is). What I liked: -they have free lockers for your belongings -the games are pretty fun (there are 4 challenges, and depending how you do it adds to your time at the end to attempt to disarm the bomb) -They provide a suit in various sizes to save your clothes and shoes from the mess, and have an area where you can clean yourself up -Even if you beat the bomb, you can still be blasted by whichever kind of bomb you chose (paint, foam, etc) -Your pics are free! What I didn't like: -You are very active in this game, so it gets sweaty FAST. Need fans in there -The screen in your room indicates when to move on, but if you have a kids group or rowdy group in general, they can disrupt your game by opening the door and walking into it -The last game you play in the series of challenges is pretty confusing and the hardest to manage, especially when the tech doesnt read your body too well How it could improve: -Making the "winning" incentive more known. When I went the first time, we lost, but the latest time we won. I happened to ask a guy a question before leaving an apparently you get a little certificate and pins for winning. We didn't know about that and no one told us that was a thing, so they could make that more known. -More ventilation in the room -Everything is very formulaic, independent experience. This is good because it gives players and chance to learn on their own, but I argue there could be improvements with staff getting a little more involved, particularly with organization. It gets chaotic in there fast. The first two rooms were good. We had trouble on the third room. The fourth room was totally unfair, most of us were short and we had to raise our hands ( I had two drum kit classes before this ) only friend #3 was able to get caught by the sensors without raising her arms, at least put the grid on the floor. The bomb room was the WORST. The paint hit so hard! Friend #1 swallowed a lot of paint, friend #2' face was covered in paint, and for me, a speck of paint got on my nose. And the shoe covers didn't cover my socks so a lot of paint got on my socks. And when I took the shoe covers off, the paint dripped on my socks even more. And when I took off the suit, EVEN MORE paint got on my socks and shoes. Friend #1 said that she feels like she sprained her ribs. Most of us got dizzy except for friend #2. Signed up for the birthday experience -- foam mission + video game session. It was for my son's actual birthday -- the foam mission was fine, except we waited ten minutes in one room for the computers to reboot and nobody came in to let us know. That was fine but after the foam mission was over, we were expecting to do another hour of the video game session with snacks and drinks. Decided to try Beat the Bomb for my friend's birthday. I heard about it from work, where I used to work with High school students and we would plan trips for them, when they are on break. I thought it would be a nice activity to do as it was different. There are 5 people in total in my group and we decided to go with the paint option. We of course booked and made reservations ahead of time. When we arrived at the location, the registration and all that went pretty quick and smooth. Oh, something to think about if you go is think of a group name as the name will be displayed on their scoreboard for the day. We were checked-in and were given a suit to wear over our clothes. Tip: you can wear it and all but you won't need to be fully covered until like the last stage, cause it gets HOT wearing it. Esp when you're trying to complete the tasks. Anyways - there is about 5-6 rooms, where you'll need to work together with your group to solve. If you are able to complete the task, you'll get extra time for the final round. Also, I'm just saying but be prepared to be physically active, some room you'll have to run around such as the laser room, where you need to get across one side to the other side without hitting the lasers. I'm pretty sure that room got me warm and sweaty the most and sore! (after the activity and end of the day). My thighs were sore as hell ! But anyways - this is a fun place to work together not just physically but your brain! Since esp the first room, you'll need to really read and pay attention on what you'll need to do to solve them as well as another room where you'll need to memorize some patterns. All in all it's pretty fun. We would do it again to beat our score and hopefully do better. Also, it's awesome how we get the video and photo sent to us (real quick too). read more

I've been dying to try Beat the Bomb for the last couple of years, so finally for my birthday, I decided to come with a group of 4 other people. Overall, I liked the concept; it reminded me of the Black Mirror Careers game at Immersive Gamebox in the physicality and communication needed to succeed, but with a larger over-arching goal of disarming a bomb in the final room, rendering it an escape room. The first room went very well for us, but we faced numerous technical difficulties in the following ones. With the lasers, for some rounds, we would lose lives very quickly pretty much when we started, without any sort of rhyme or reason. The readers didn't always have good signal with our wristbands, leading to a lot of wasted time replaying rounds. Because communication is key for some of the rooms, the outside noise from other groups and music made it hard for us to hear each other. I also felt rushed at the very end--a couple of us had trouble putting on our masks, which impeded us in playing the final room's game; I wish the employee would've stuck around for just another minute to help us with the equipment. read more

It is one snack, one drink, security camera footage, and a gift bag. If you add up these items a la carte it is completely unclear what you are paying for. [I'll skip over the - they didn't start us until almost an hour after our reserved time. ] Game = $50x8 =$400.00 Snacks and drinks = $4 x 8 =$32.00 (bag of chips plus bottle of water) Video footage = $30 x 2 teams = $60.00 Tshirts = $12 x 8 =$96.00 Total is $588. We never got the video footage or gift bags (which should have included Tshirts plus more). But they were sure to charge me $4 for one extra bag of chips and bottle of water and just gave me a business card to follow up on the missing items. After multiple emails and calls over 7 weeks, they finally refunded me $120. Not even the value of the items we didn't get. read more

Expect the Unexpected! Beat The Bomb was an immersive, heart-racing, and unforgettable experience. Greg was so helpful with booking while providing an overview of the game and layout of the space. Although we were a trio and not a quad, the fee remained the same even if we were one player short. I was grateful that there was a suit (painter's coveralls) that fit me -- thick and tall. After a few quick family photos, we were ready for our mission. Our goal was to compete, communicate, and complete. No more VR, this was in IRL. Our eight-year-old son was our team leader. He took it so seriously. It was great to see him in action. Unfortunately, we struggled early on and ran out of time lol. After failing miserably, it was fun to let loose in photos and video clips. The foam blast was fun and did not hurt (thankfully). I still forgot to tuck in my chin despite their instructions. Oops! As a self-designated family photographer, I am usually comfortable on the sidelines but Beat The Bomb was the exception. Overall, fun experience. I would recommend. Knocked off a star for a couple of minor issues This place has two different experiences you can book for "beating the bomb". You can end with a foam blast or a paint blast. How it works is that when you arrive, the staff check you in and give you plastic type overalls to wear. These go over your clothes but it was quite warm so we wore these around our waists until the final room. In each of a series of rooms, your team has to complete missions to earn bomb defusing time at the end room. All of the missions were fun, unique, and required team work. If you did well in a certain room you could advance to higher difficulties of levels. In every room, you need to activate it was a wristband. In some of the rooms, you needed the wristbands to play. However, often times there was a delay in the wristband reacting to the receiver and especially in one room, caused us to not do as well as we could have. Despite that, my group had a blast and were excited to get to the end. We actually had so much time banked that "winning" in the last room was not difficult. Luckily, they still let us experience the bomb. I will say that the paint colors are not as vibrant as they seem in online pictures which, while minor, was kind of a small let down. What was cool was that in the end, you get a breakdown of how you did overall and in each room. They also send you pictures and videos of the final room. Overall, if you can get a group of 4 or more together, this is a fun way to spend an hour or so doing something uniquely fun. read more

The place is large and well kept. We had apply space to to get into our protective gear. I will say wear light clothing those things get hot. This was a very unique experience! It's like an escape room had a baby with squid game. There are 5 different rooms with various challenges and you have to work together. Our group of 7 was too big so we had to split up. But we were able to escape and still chose to get blasted with paint. Pro tip: They provide a suit, shoe coverings and a mask. We had a great time at Beat the Bomb! We had a group of 14 come for my birthday and got split into 3 teams of 5, 5, and 4. The staff was extremely patient with us as wrangling 14 people to come at the same time and form groups was a difficult ask. We got to compete against each other as teams and it ended up feeling like Laser Tag in that way with the scorecards we got at the end. Each of the rooms were unique and fun, and most of us are in an arts program at NYU that makes interactive experiences so we especially appreciated it! The only issue we had was sometimes the RFID bands didn't register in a timely fashion, but otherwise everything was great. We were very impressed. Also they do a great job of keeping your clothes from getting covered in paint. I wore a dress and didn't have any issues. Came here the other day and had an absolute blast! The games were immersive and fun, with each starting our relatively easy and getting more difficult as the team clears levels. The staff ran everything smoothly and were also very friendly. The only issues I had were that some of the technology for the games gave us trouble sometimes; particularly the wristbands they gave sometimes were quite difficult to badge into the sensors and there were a handful of times we almost beat a level in time but then failed when the wristband wasn't properly detected. We came here during NYC Must-See week so the tickets were essentially half price which I thought was a great deal but I think the normal price would be a bit more than I would be willing to pay since the experience only lasts about an hour. read more

Went to beat the bomb with some kids for a birthday! What a treat it was! Jackie kindly welcomed us and showed us where to sign waivers. We then had to decide how we were going to split our two teams. For those who don't know what the point of the game, it's two teams head to head (separately) to she who could disarm the bomb before being splatted on with paint! You go through 4 different rooms solving puzzles with your team to accumulate time to use at the end when disarming the bomb in the 5th room. Four stars because one of the screens in the room was broken which afffected our time gains... but non the less we won! If you win you get to choose wether you want to still be sprayed with. No worries they give you complete covers for your clothes and shoes and a helmet. I must say i was surprised at how much pain was everywhere but on my personal clothes and myself! If you have more like me (I have 8 people), you can compete against each other!! Out of the 5 challenges, I think the laser one is the most challenging most people would agree. I enjoyed how you had to work together to beat levels in each of the 4 different rooms before you got to the final room (where you have to see if you can beat the bomb or get hit with paint). The more levels you beat in each room the more time you get added to beat the bomb and you spend 10 minutes in each room. We did not beat the bomb but we did want to get splashed with paint so we were fine with it! They did mention if you do beat the bomb they do give you the option to get bombed regardless. We went as a group of 6 for my friend's birthday. It's a lot of fun but definitely a WORKOUT (that I didn't prepare for)! They're pretty strict on the time so try to be there within the time frame stated in the confirmation email. When you come in, you have to show vaccination card and ID. After that, you sign in (waivers, email, phone number, etc) so they can send you the pictures and so you can check in room to room. You get a locker that you share with your team! It's not too big but enough room if you all bring a little something. It was raining today when we came, and the nice staff even provided a bucket for our umbrellas. They give you suits to wear and then tape up your feet so you won't trip when you're inside the rooms. Not sure if the suits were one size fits all but they were huuuuuge. Very spacious for someone petite like me! They also give you a Fanny pack for your phone(s)? We didn't really use the Fanny pack lol My friends and I had a lot of fun going from room to room, it's definitely challenging for the first time. Coordination and teamwork is key! Different rooms had different tasks for you to complete, some where you had to physically move around and about. Be careful, when we were in the laser room, none of us were touching the lasers at one point and the screen kept taking away our lives -- so we didn't really like this one! They will tell you when you're about to enter the bomb room, give you this plastic covering so your suit gets an extra barrier against the paint and also provide a helmet for you that you can tighten/loosen as needed. Definitely make sure you tighten it!!!! My friend's helmet came off after the paint blast because it wasn't on tight enough! We didn't beat the bomb, but we had a great time! read more

We were captivated by the technology, the laser room, the hazmat-like suits, and the colorful bomb detonation the venue had to offer. The venue lived up to the hype. Only the laser room was down during our turn. The staff handled the situation well. However, we do regret not having been able to review our films on the big screen at the conclusion of the maze.
