I booked the Goblin's Quest VR escape room for 4 people. We signed waivers and proceeded to the game setup. They hooked us up with the headset and a battery/bookpacks. The experience lasted for 45 mins total but I do wish it was longer. Overall it was a fun game, you experience multiple rooms as a Goblin through VR. The staff is there to assist you throughout when you're stuck on parts of the puzzle. Some of the downsides were the headset audio not being loud enough. You can hear everyone else's VR experiences around you which can distract and make it hard for you to hear things clearly in the game. read more

I had booked the Mission Galaxy Rescue Escape experience on Saturday evening, November 23rd for a party of 13 people. During the event, we ran into several major issues that completely ruined the experience. To list them: - Objectives were skipped or were not working properly - The interactivity between the rooms was not working - One of the rooms did not initialize properly and it required the entire event to be restarted midway through (This can be seen in one of the uploaded photos, the indicator lights showing where we were in regards to the completion of the room was already lit up to 3 out of the 4 lights when we had first entered) To expand on the last point, a room was stuck in a glitched state that did not register our actions, particularly during the wiring objective (This can be seen in two of the uploaded photos, I included the correct wiring as well as the correct wiring guide). We had attempted to contact staff during this time and the speakers were too quiet to have a conversation and explain that something was wrong. It took several minutes to get a staff member to help us, and several more to reset the room again. The staff member did what he could to assist us and that we appreciate, however the solution to "make-up" the lost time was to get handheld during the remainder of the experience. I hope this is clear enough to say that for a $694.28 experience, two rooms being glitchy with one needing a full reset is unacceptable. The employee had stated that some credit can be given due to the severity of the issues, however I was not looking for credit given the circumstances. He gave us an email to contact the manager of this business for a refund. I had emailed the provided email address as well as the one connected to a feedback link three times now with no answer. It has been about 2 weeks without any response. Extremely disappointing experience, I would not go again and am actively looking to for a refund. I only wish I could find a way to get back the wasted hour of my life. read more

I've done VR before so this is my second experience but first time here. I have a divided opinion regarding staff. It takes time to flag them down even when there's no significant crowd and also towards the end we were admonished for setting up our locker to put stuff in "completely wrong" even though the locker was the one that had the malfunction to begin with. Otherwise, some of the other staff we encountered were more than helpful with equipment. The equipment and games seemed outdated and laggy- for the price of playing there for two hours I had expected better and more variety. I enjoyed the ski experience, walking on the beam on high rise and also the zombie multiplayer game. It was interesting how my friend and I perceived certain experiences to be more real differently. We did not check out the escape room. Overall, this can be a fun experience if you go with friends and it's not as busy earlier in the day (it opens at 12 pm and we came on a Sunday) but I can see it getting busier possibly later? I don't think I'll be returning though. I don't have any pictures because I left my phone in the locker. read more

If you are an escape room enthusiast this will prob be more enjoyable. We only did the VR games and it was still fun. There are only limited VR stations so you might have to wait for your term. I saw 2 peeps who horded the same 2 stations for over an hour, they must really enjoyed ninja action & zombie shooting. I am terrified of heights, so naturally I walked the plank! It was absolutely horrifying & I tried my best not to soil my...socks. The VR driving was boring, you literally go around on an easy tract up against only 1 other player, with minimal chance for collisions or mishaps. The wall/rock climbing did not required any VR equipment & seemed boring. The main attraction are the 2 Xtrematic games stations. You can choose among skiing, bMX bike and cycling, sky diving, hang gliding, roller coasters with dynasaurs, air combat, etc... guests have to take terms so we only managed 2 games on it. If you are proned to motion sickness consider taking dramamine, after the hang glider experience & the WWII air combat I def felt some nausea. As a fellow Yelper mentioned wearing glasses can be a hassle while using the VR head set but I still had a good time. The headsets were thoroughly wiped in between users. Overall this felt like a small VR arcade, escape room players will prob have more fun. The staff were helpful in guiding us as well as fixing any program issues. read more

I have very mixed feelings about this. Me, my boyfriend and brother wanted to try something new and walked in after checking out the website and calling them. We thought the escape room would have been virtual but nope, lol. Not their fault for this. We are told that an escape room is about to start in 15 minutes, and there is no time to try the VRs before that. It's okay, I get it. What is their fault though is that they did not tell us, before paying, that an other group would have joined us in the experience. We found ourselves in this simulation of a train, separated from that family that joined us, by some doors we have to open somehow, and it's HOT. It's so hot in there I can barely breathe. We start looking for clues but inside our cart there's only two or three things we can do, because all the hints are on the other cart where the family is and they're trying to reach us and open those doors. They get to open it, and it becomes CHAOTIC. I absolutely HATED having to share space with people I do not know because they DO NOT listen. When we paid we were not told we would have to share and if I knew I would have never done it. I would have never spent 150$ to share an escape room with other people. The hints do not appear on a screen like other places to, they're just told from a speaker. Really hard to listen to when the train noise is SO LOUD. Some puzzles were very mathematical, but whatever. I feel my group and I would have solved it if we were not distracted by the other people. I was so frustrated by that, that 10 minutes from the end I just sat down and said "Okay I'm done". Would not come back :( read more

First time trying an escape room and I think I'm hooked. All future escape rooms will forever be measured against this one. My friend and I were running late but luckily it was just us so the staff were chill about letting us start a bit late. Led upstairs by the game master to the space galaxy escape room, given instructions and we were on our own. Have you been getting your required dose of vitamin A? Cuz you're gonna need it to see in the dimly lit spacecraft. There were three separate parts to the space galaxy escape room and with the helpful hints of the game master (we're novices), we managed to escape in time! I loved the all the effects and how you really had to think to solve the clues. It was a lot of fun and I'm already thinking of trying the subway themed one! Since we were here anyway, we decided to go for a VR escape room as well. We went with the Goblin's Quest since it seemed kinda interesting. And it was actually a lot of fun! There's lots of walking and picking stuff up involved so it will get you sweating a bit! There were hints given both by the game and...I think someone outside the game too. We had a lot of fun laughing and solving the different "rooms". It was a great experience and I can't wait the return to try the other VR games. The only thing that bothered me (maybe I'm just being picky) but my headset smelled kind of like bad BO for some reason...once I started focusing on the game, it didn't bother me as much anymore. read more

We really enjoyed our time at EV. This was my first time at a virtual reality center in NYC and I thought that it was a great experience. Michael was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating from the start. We walked in without a reservation and in 5 minutes we were booked for the next hour. I cannot say enough great things about Michael. He paid attention to our needs and the tour was informative. We only booked one hour but it was enough time to get a feel of what EV had to offer. Our favorite game was the zombie killing game. It felt so real and we were really into it. If we do return, that will be the first thing that we do again. We tried the car racing game and it was fun for a bit until I got motion sickness. I didn't do the roller coaster but I was told by my friend that it was alright. The air gliding game can be fun once you get a hang of it but it wasn't as thrilling as walking the plank. Walking the plank was a thrill, despite being 1inch off of the ground. You really feel like you're in the sky and you feel the drop as you're falling. The staff was super supportive and didn't rush our time, I really appreciated that. We didn't do the escape room and we didn't have any city pass so I can't speak to that. read more

Had an hour of VR gaming reserved for 5PM, didn't get checked in until around 5:15ish. It was very busy, multiple reservations for the same time. Not to mention there were only 2 employees, one at the check in desk & the other on the floor taking the equipment on/off because customers aren't allowed to take the equipment on/off for gaming. I understood the reasoning behind them not wanting damages BUTTTTTT that ran into our hour of timing having to wait at each station after gaming was over for one of the two employees to come unhook us to have to be hooked up all over again at the next station. Our hour went by very fast and we were hoping that we could make up our 15 minutes that was taken from us, but was told that we could not because they had other reservations and rushed out at 6PM on the dot. overall, the VR games were pretty fun but i don't think the $45 was worth it. read more

It was a really different experience! My gf took us for my birthday and I definitely want to go back. I've never tried VR before but Michael at the front desk made our experience as smooth as possible and we can tell that we really enjoys working there. We played Ward 9 and upon putting on the mask we thought it was gonna be scary but it wasn't at all, it just works your brain a little. (Gamers, you might catch along really quickly in this one). My 1 hour booking was at 12 noon. we show up 15 min ahead ready to check in, sign waivers and get the run down before our time started. Turns out the place doesn't open until noon and the staff was just arriving at 12:03, keeping us in the pouring rain for almost 20 min. We wait for them to turn on the lights start powering everything up before we even get checked in. Finally strapped into our first game around 12:20 my machine keeps needing to be rebooted. after not being able to get my game loaded we try another vr machine. my sons game works 1 time then needs rebooting twice and never works again. we wandered around for another 10 minutes before our time was up and walked out annoyed. they wouldn't give me any money back because we "had an hour to try multiple games". what a waste of money. get your machines booted up and running before the first client time-slot- that's how you run a business. don't waste your time on this place. read more

Celebrated a birthday here for someone who loves gaming. And as someone who isn't a gamer, I had a lot of fun. The staff is very accommodating considering a lot of the VR equipment had technical difficulties. It can be expensive so look out for deals when booking. I booked the 2 hour pass with the VR Escape option. Definitely book an escape room option. The best part of the experience is the Kat Walk. It's the machines closer to the door. You get to run and shoot zombies during a simulation. They lost a star just because there was a lot of tech issues that delayed our experience a bit. For a high tech place, I didn't expect that. And because the staff didn't realize I had that escape option but luckily I had an email to prove it or they wouldn't have let us do it. And it was really hot inside the place. Trust me when I say I love 90 degree weather and was sweating while playing the games. Overall nice place to do something fun and active. read more

The experiences were fine, but if you wear glasses be prepared for taking off your glasses and having it be blurry or having your glasses shoved against your face. To top off a mediocre experience, I discovered later that they had not credited my account with the Sightseeing Pass I used to book the experience. When I called, they were extremely confrontational and rude, insisting I had somehow screwed up by not presenting the passes. My wife and I both distinctly remembered we DID present the passes. They redirected me back to the Sightseeing CityPass company, who were very nice and granted me an extra day on our passes, so we could call Escape back and get the appropriate credit. Again, even now they insisted this would only result in a 50% reimbursement and they refused to do more. I will never go back and recommend you spend your time in New York ANY other way. read more

SCAM! The booking agreement was not the same as when we got there and did the activity. My group of 12 booked the Subway Escape Room and VR Stations for 1 hr. The escape room was alright. The particpants fairly enjoyed the experience. One of the minor details that a participant complained about was the ramp going on to the "train" was not fully covered by the door, so it made the experience less real. I personally had a higher expectation for the quality decorations and was let down a bit after seeing the "room"/"train". It was not very realistic. The issue was the VR. When Jeff (the booking guy) and I spoke twice regarding the booking over the phone, he said that my group would be able to visit all the different VR stations for an hour. I remembered very clearly. However when we got there, I was notified that we can only experience ONE VR station and ONLY ONCE out of the FIVE or SIX stations that was available. After waiting for the manager for 10-15 minutes, he claimed that it was a different package on the receipt and Jeff was not available that day to clarify. They also claimed that there was no way to reach Jeff at the moment. They basically sold me something that wasn't agreed upon. They did offer a refund for the VR experience, however, the whole trip was for the participants to experience VR. THAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE VISIT! Then, when we finally started to do the VR, a staff member then said we only had 3 choices of stations. Not the original 5 or 6 stations that were available. The reason was because one particular VR station that we wanted to do will take 10-15 minutes and they were already overbooked for a private party. Unbelievable! So going from originally booking an 1 hour VR station pass for 12 people down to a choice of 1 VR station out of 5 or 6 stations down to now a choice of 3! Excuse my language, BUT WHAT THE....... According to one staff member who told us turns out Jeff, who is the owner, is never here yet he is in charge of group booking. Once we mentioned the name, he immediately made the expression and gesture that this happens frequently and implied that Jeff doesn't really know what goes on. Our group did the Ghost Collector escape room and while the puzzles were interesting, there were a number of puzzles that didn't work as they were supposed to and the game master even had to come in to fix some of the puzzles while we were in the room. There were too many puzzles that were broken and it ruined the experience. Additionally we had told the game master that we only wanted hints if we asked for them but she constantly gave us hints too early without us prompting them. Overall, I would not recommend this escape room as there are better ones in the city. read more

I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone visiting NYC on vacation. It's just not worth your time. Even after making reservations we had to wait 30 mins to even get started. "Walk the plank" was a 30 second experience. Racing goggles were extremely blurry. Rock wall was interesting but just a workout really. It was decently fun. The ski slopes was decent as well. If you're using the NYC Go City Pass you're extremely limited in what you can do, which I was told is only those 4 activities. $15 per person if you want to do anything else. It's just not worth it. Wait 30 min for a 20 min experience where they're just running Oculus on computers with vr enabled games and devices on PC's. It's a cool business model and I wish them success but on the consumer side I would use your pass on something else more worth while like a museum or observatory. The staff was nice but I guess they needed more people. There was 4-5 groups in there and told us we needed to wait for them to "get more hands available to help us" which ended up being longer than expected. read more

Went yesterday. Would not recommend. The front desk customer service was very rude and acted as if they couldn't be bothered from the moment we walked in despite it being very slow. Very sarcastic-like attitudes. My sister and I played shooting games and we couldn't hear each other and the person working there said it was the game itself that didn't allow it (despite me hearing another player). Her 360 standing machine was broken so she could only rotate one direction, so had to fully rotate back around to get back where she was. No one told her it was broken until after a round of games when she brought it up to a worker who said it was broken and they were waiting on a part. Driving game seats were broken so you could not adjust your access to pedals - cooooool. The person who guided us in the driving games was nice. When I said I had an issue in the shooting game (glitching) I was essentially eye-rolled and told it was my fault for doing xyz in the game (it wasn't). When we asked about escape rooms, we were told $40pp, but then total for 2 came to $99. When I asked why, I was told it was the total with tax. Umm, that's not how tax works?? We called it a day at that point. Sister and I agreed we will never go back. read more

This place is insanely cool! I walked in and it felt very hi-tech and modern. There was a group doing a virtual escape room and it was so cool to see what they were doing and also laugh a little at how silly they looked. I went with a group of 8 for a Groupon for the runaway train room. We were escorted into the escape room and was told we were to split our group of 8 into two. We were told that we would be meeting each other shortly so it didn't matter that we'd be split up. However, that wasn't the case for our group. It was a very challenging but exciting room and there were visuals that helped simulate a moving train. We ended up meeting up and escaping near death with only a few minutes to spare(not without some help with the game masters). I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and I'd definitely come back to try the other rooms. read more

We did the Gooblin Escape Room. As a huge fan of Escape Room it was a really basic and extremely easy (VERY EASY) "room". But, as a new VR experience it was really cool and unique. It was a bit pricey for 30 to 45 min activity ($40).the please and devices are clean and the workers were very nice and pleasant. So 2 star for the "room", 4 star for the VR. read more

Absolutely awful experience. Drove from an hour away just to find out the experience we booked wasn't available on my dad's birthday. Ended up doing a crappy ghost escape room that my brother ended up falling asleep during. Faulty equipment in the escape rooms as well, someone had to come in and get one of the items and the staff was very rude and disinterested in the guests and sarcastic while giving clues. Didn't provide anything for messing up the booking and basically just shrugged off their error. Won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend anyone ever going, save your money. read more

So fun!!!! I loved it for real. We did the goblin Quest thing and we were legit ooing and ahhing the whole time as we made our way through the quest. My daughter's birthday: Computers crashing and staff not trained to do anything. We spent 45 minutes for the staff to fix the VR goblin escape room. 3 people kept trying to figure out how to get it to work and they still couldn't get one of them to work so I had to sit out. Since we spent 45 minutes here just waiting for them to fix it, we didn't have time to do anything else. I asked to see the manager 3 times before he came out to talk and he said he couldn't give us a refund unless we stopped right when they finally got it working. So our time here would be totally wasted. Customer is always right except for this place. read more

Disclosure: Came here for an escape room did not do any virtual reality things. I've done 20+ escape room so know my way around. Price point is high for an escape room-- so I had high hopes. Upon entry to the room, however, those hopes were immediately dashed. The game master gave a really dismal description of the back story of the room. Additionally, he gave away the fact that there was a secondary room to unlock. Thirdly, he gave away hints of things that you find in that secret room and what you have to do (high level, but still) to fully complete the room. It simplified the mystery too much. As for the room, again, for the price point, it was technologically lacking and on the easier side. Despite it being a room that was large and probably was designed for 6-8 people, two of us were able to cruise through the clues and escape the room easily. Will not be returning to try their other rooms. read more

My first escape room experience, did the Runaway Train one. Was two of us, typically it's a 3-4 ppl game, so we had several hints from the gamemaster to help progress us along. Were 2/3rds of the way there w/ the speed control room remaining. Clues & process flow were not always straight forward which adds to the challenge of the game, so have to use intuition to enter the mind of the designer, which is a good thing. People enter analysis paralysis, it often pays to not overthink these things. Would try them again, though another room, overall positive enjoyable experience & friendly helpful staff. read more

Ok, so I have mixed reviews. I love escape rooms, and I would like to say that I am an escape room connoisseur. I did an escape room today for my birthday that was subway themed. The fake subway was really cool, full of sound effects and movement! Would have been a lot better if the sound and movement had ended though. We couldn't hear each other the entire time (which is realistic of a subway, but I paid $40 for this trip), and the movement made us nauseated. The room wasn't properly set up prior to our arrival, and someone came in the middle to fix things around which was odd. Also, if you actually had to leave the room, you could only do so by pressing an emergency red button, which would END THE GAME and at the least take off 10 minutes, which, as someone with Crohn's disease, wasn't what I wanted to hear (for most escape rooms, you can leave whenever as the "escape" is symbolic/the game is over after completing the final puzzle). We were a group of 5, and they had us split up for the first 10 minutes, which I wasn't expecting (nor did I want). Also, it was very unclear the cause and effect in that room. We would press a button, and nothing would happen. Then 5 minutes later, unprompted, a seat would open. I couldn't help but feel as though we received a lot of assistance - we were very unclear as to what we actually accomplished. I really appreciate their setup and decoration, but I just know the game could be run more smoothly, and be worth that hefty price. read more

PLEASE DON'T GO HERE! Never posted a review before....But this cannot be ignored. We came in for the galaxy escape room. We were taken to the room upstairs, then as soon as we start the guy says the room is defective, and we have to go to the identical one next door. So we go to the other one, and we notice the back door is open, and you can see through the whole layout of the room. They forgot to reset it for new customers. So we're taken BACK to the first room, and we finally start. After about 5 minutes, we unlock the back door, but notice the props in the new area are already exposed, and they weren't supposed to be. And the "secret door" or whatever opens at will, so they didn't prepare this one either!!! The guy tells us that they really messed up, and we have to come out a 4th time, so they can PREPARE THIS GODDAMN ESCAPE ROOM after we've already seen all the tricks..... So we tell him hey can we just do the Goblin one instead, the mystery of this one is kind of gone. And he says OK i can sign you up for the goblin one for 1 hour later, in the meantime you guys can hang out and do some of the VR things downstairs, sorry about these inconveniences. So we go downstairs, try 2 of the VR things for 10 minutes (a "racing" thing which gives vertigo (and crashed the computer mid-race because of lack of memory), and another car racing thing which had much worse graphics in the VR headset than the screen itself) and they wouldn't let us try anything else because "the 6PM rush" is coming, and those customers have to use them...We felt so unwelcome and as if they were trying to kick us out. So after 10-15 minutes we just ask for the refund for the escape room, we decide to just leave instead of waiting and feeling unwelcome, and thankfully they gave us the refund for the escape room. HOWEVER... they CHARGED us for using the 2 VR games which they placed us in as an apology for screwing up the escape room. We didn't ask to use VR, we didn't sign up for VR, we were taken there so we could wait for the next hour as a good gesture, and they charged us for it... and refused to refund. Are you guys that desperate for people's money that you would charge for making us wait until you fix your own mistakes? Absolutely pathetic. Overpriced, gimmicky place with BLURRY VR headsets, and "games" that would keep you entertained for about 30 seconds before vertigo kicks in or the PC crashes. I can't give a review of the escape rooms, because we never experienced them. ALSO, there is a "climbing" game in the front entrance, please do not take your children there, it is an absolute hazard. The cushion for falling is about 2 feet wide, followed by hard concrete. If someone falls backwards, they can hit their head on hard concrete, and it can kill someone. Please stay very far away from this climbing thing. Ended up going to the Barcade a couple of blocks away, a SMALL fraction of the cost, for 1980's games that were 10x more entertaining than whatever this was. read more

Did a birthday for my son here. First of all, the birthday was scheduled (and paid for) to take place two years ago and got canceled due to COVID restriction. EV gave the credit and held the party still two years later, no prob! The kids had a fantastic time. The helpers could be more enthusiastic and proactive in helping the kids. I bought a Groupon for this place for the virtuality games and it was very fun. Michael was very helpful and entertaining. My three friends and I spent an hour here. The only thing that I did not like is that the workers have to set the games up for you and that takes more time from your actual games. I recommend. read more
