The rooms are clean and well maintained. The puzzles for the most part make sense and were solvable. The room used some technology and everything appeared to work correctly. Room was linear for a lot of it but did have sections where several activities could be completed at once. I'd say it was medium difficulty we asked for one hint and finished with 3 minutes to spare. I'd definitely return to try out the other two rooms at this location.

This was one of the funnest parts of our trip! The room we did was outstanding and very well designed. It was also GIANT! I wish we would have brought a larger group with us because I feel like the experience would have been even better with more people. The clues and puzzles were diverse and fun! We have done multiple escape rooms in the past and the secrets hidden in this room were much more elaborate and extensive than the rooms we have done in other cities (and you can't beat the price...a room like this in Kansas City would cost at least double.) It's also in a GREAT location! Just wandering in the area we managed to find tons of great shopping, a chocolate factory and a ton of places to eat! You could easily spend a day there! It even looked like they had a party room!!! We will definitely be back to try the rest of the rooms next time we are in Brooklyn!

They knock the competition out of the park. 8 of us did "Montauk" and it was outstanding. Easily the #1 escape room in nyc and nationally in the top 10%. The degree of immersion and the thoughtfulness of the sets are a big win. Also minimal use of combo locks and the rooms did not feel linear, with people making progress on different puzzles at the same time. The mood is also fantastic with 1980s vibes and stranger things fans will appreciate some of the design elements. The tech was very creative and challenged your senses and forced coordination and teamwork! The facilitator was very nice and gave us varying levels of hints that didn't give the answers away, but helped us when we were in a bind. Lots of fake blood, creepy clowns, and even some jump scares built in. Definitely use your brain and think outside the box!! The puzzles were really unique. The only feedback I have is some of the puzzles were a bit wonky probably because a lot of people have been touching them so there are things that should be tuned up or fixed. Trying not to spoil so I'll try to be as vague as I can while giving feedback. So there's one puzzle where you have to smell things but everything smelled like the same rotten/rancid smell so my team members and I content differentiate the scents and had to randomly guess instead of actually solving the puzzle. There's another puzzle where you have to turn something but it was wonky from wear and tear and the tracks on them were worn down. Paul was our game master, and did a great job. He also said this room was the hardest one and the scariest one out of them all.

Overall it was a relatively non-linear escape with decent tech and only 2 combination locks (a big complaint of mine are escape rooms with over reliance on combo locks). My only complaints were that it felt a touch dated and some of the audio cues were hard to hear. Very cool digital tech but the monitors look very aged. It's also fairly dark and we used our phone lights at times. Difficulty 3/5 Tech 4/5 Story/ immersion 4/5 Overall I would put this one in the top 50% of all escape rooms. For nyc I would say it would be in the top quartile.
