Pretty good BBQ. Wish we had gotten more sauce with our pulled pork to go order but otherwise it was delicious. The real winner here was the wings. Tried both the old Bay and bourbon wings. Both were delicious but Old Bay was better. Worth getting, but 19 dollars for 10 wings is a little steep read more

Fantastic meal!! We did curbside pickup and the Mac & cheese was left out of our order. We called and - within 10 minutes they had someone drive it to our house and they included an extra box of cookies! Fabulous customer service on top of nine meals that everybody raved about!! Will visit again!! read more

Pulled In for lunch. Four people $51.00. Three plates for that price. Sides are expensive and small. Corn bread is solid. Brisket sliced thin and lacked smoke. Also a little dry. Pork sandwich has no smoke as well. Tasty but not bbq. $2.50 for a fountain drink. No house made tea and that makes bbq legit. Seemed more like a chain joint. You have to order your food at the counter as there is no waitress service for ordering. read more

Really good food, friendly service, and a drive thru!! This is my new favorite place in Deep Creek. I had the Squealin' Rib Sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. read more

Sooooo. First of all y'all.. I don't know of any other restaurant that has a hostess seat you at a table, gives you menus to order from, then promptly tells ya to get up and go to the counter to order for y'alls self. What kind of nonsensical goal are they trying to accomplish here? A table tip for no real service? Ain't doin it. Seconds. What kind of meal is just a piece a meat and a piece a cornbread? No choice of any sides included. Nadda. Those lil' luxuries are costin' ya an extra 3.50 apiece. They chargin' 29.99 for just ribs and corn crumbs? Ain't doin' it. Thirds. For those of y'all that still want more. The brisket tasted like broiled deli meat, and the chicken was so dry it couldn't be swallowed without chasing it with the cornbread. Which speaks volumes. Thank gawd also for the ghost pepper bbq sauce, it was good and actually the only positive thing I can say about the whole ordeal. I guess my first clue should have been that one lone car in the parking lot on a Friday night when every place else was packed. Come back here again? Ain't doin' it. read more

This is a must stop for us whenever we are in the Deep Creek area. The BBQ sampler is nice size with a sampling of their best meats on the menu. The staff is friendly and very helpful. read more

I'm from Texas and let me just say... this bbq doesn't not come close. The brisket looked like it was boiled and tasted bland and the texture tasted slimy. The cornbread was moist to the extent it made it taste like cake. The ribs were drowned in bbq sauce that you could not taste the meat. Overall the bbq was terrible and I would not recommend if you want decent bbq. read more

A wide selection of high quality meat, and very fast service. I personally had the pulled pork on the Pittsburgh sandwich and it was all incredible. Would highly recommend if your passing through read more

Every trip to Deep Creek I go on, this place is a must! Some of the best barbecue I've had is from this gem hidden up on the mountain. Their restaurant is nothing too fancy, and fancy isn't even needed with how good the food is. Inside you'll find some picnic table and the counter where you place your order. Last time I made a visit, some friends and I shared the piggy platter with pulled pork and the brisket, along with sides of their baked beans and coleslaw. The coleslaw is a must to pair with the pulled pork. All of the meat was perfectly seasoned, and super tender. It really is melt-in-your-mouth good. The barbecue sauce provided is a great compliment to the meal and completes everything. I have yet to be disappointed by Archie's and will continue to visit for some fantastic barbecue! read more

Good barbecue, great service. Family Friendly. Drive through, outside dining and indoor. A little expensive, but most good barbecue places that offer a nice dining area are not cheap. We will be back. read more

An update to my review - nothing has changed, Archie's is still hands down our favorite BBQ. In fact, we love it so much that we had Archie's cater our wedding in 2015. They came all the way from Maryland to the Pittsburgh area. Debbie Archer was great with helping me to organize the food - she was very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions or requests I had, while working with our budget. The food at the wedding was AMAZING as expected - we got so many compliments from our guests on their meals, and everyone wanted to know who the caterer was. Some were a little disappointed to find out that it's about an hour and a half drive away though! The guys who set up the catering and served the food were great - they took care of everything. I didn't have to worry about a single thing that night which is a huge relief for a mostly DIY bride. They packed everything up at the end of the night and cleaned up after themselves. We couldn't have been happier with the service beginning to end. Archie's is a model for how a business should be run - great food, caring employees, and awesome customer service through and through. read more

This was our second time at Archie's and surely not the last! While on vacation with my husband, and my cousin and his girlfriend, we decided to split the Mountain Man challenge, which consists of 1 rack of ribs, 1 half bbq chicken, 4 pieces of cornbread, 1 hot side dish, 1 cold side dish, 1 archie deluxe sandwich and a drink. Since the staff knew that we were just going to split the food, they gave us an extra side at no charge and split up the sandwich contents - half brisket, half pulled pork. And, they gave us each a bun. We only had to pay for 3 extra drinks. Everything was delicious! And, let's just say we all had plenty to eat and still had leftovers! Totally worth the $50! The Mountain Man Challenge wall of shame is quite funny! For those 13 or 14 out of 326 (at the time of our visit) that actually completed the challenge, I saute you! As others have mentioned, Archie's has a great atmosphere. It is a nice, clean restaurant. It is more of a fast food place in the fact that you seat yourself, grab your own condiments and drinks, and throw away your own garbage. Staff is friendly. Nice log-cabiny feel. This is a definite stop for anyone visiting the DCL area...you will not be disappointed. read more

I said to my husband, " Archie's - 4 stars?" His reply (with a mouthful of delicious BBQ) was, "ABSOLUTELY - if not 5!" Well, there you go folks. Marriage is all about compromise, so let's call it 4.5 stars for Archie's! It is really nice to encounter a non-pizza, non-chain spot while in the DCL area, and Archie's will satisfy any carnivore and/or BBQ connoisseur. It sure made us happy, and we love BBQ. Love the friendly service at the counter/cashier, and they bring your food to you at your table, which is made up in a very log cabin-like atmosphere with big ol' picnic-style tables, perfect for passing your delicious BBQ dishes around (or don't share at all). We definitely ordered way too much food, but the portions were large and the prices were fair. Collection of hot sauces and BBQ sauces met my needs, spice-wise and flavor customization-wise. Meat isn't over-seasoned and served without sauce so you can do the dousing yourself. Our sampler platter contained 4 juicy, meaty, fall-off-the-bone ribs, pulled pork (my favorite), brisket (the weakest link in a stellar lineup), cornbread (a total superstar in the cornbreads of the world), and two sides. We chose the mac-and-cheese (how I really rate a BBQ place) and the baked beans. Hubby loved the baked beans (that's his jam) - they had little chunks of hot dog mixed in with the beans! I enjoyed the mac, and doused it in a pool of Frank's Red Hot (that's my jam). Service, as mentioned, was quick and friendly. Food was delicious. Bathrooms were clean. Seating and parking were ample. Next time we're in the area, Archie's is definitely on the docket for a repeat visit. Maybe we;ll even try the HUNGRY MAN challenge...haha. read more

always hot and tasty. My goto is the Archie dog and fries. You will not be disappointed

Went here while vacationing at deep creek lake because the local microbrew place was about an hour wait. Was Friday night and place was never more than half full but several streams of people through the door. Ended up going what I always do at BBQ joints a platter containing a little of every meat and a side. Enough to split with another person the 1/2 rack of ribs on the plate were good but a little too red for my taste. I know there should be some pink seat but these looked under cooked. Fall off the bone good though and not too much fat to fight. Pulled pork was excellent and brisket was really good too. There was counter order service and the food literally was brought in less than 5 minutes which makes me think how long it was sitting in the back. Of course it's not cooked to order but it was eerily quick. The bake beans were interesting as they had bits of hot dog cut up in them, and the mac n cheese was sub par. Plenty of extra BBQ sauce available which is awesome but I didn't even find the hot house blend that spicy. Cornbread was...meh. I got a look at the salad and as always in BBQ place you should shy away from it as it wasn't much to look at. If I could give you some advice Id say, "Just the Meat!" read more

I really wanted to give more stars but I can't! First of all let me say the customer services was great, as soon as we entered we were greater and the staff was extremely friendly. This was my first time visiting this area and we were looking for something basic that we could eat the next day as well. Being an country NC girl I love BBQ of any kind but this was the worst I ever had. I decided to get ribs and pulled pork and my boyfriend got ribs and chicken with green beans and macaroni as sides. When I first opened the containers at home I immediately notice the orange mush pulled pork like substance that reminded to of school lunch as a kid. I decided to take a bite but couldn't eat much more, the ribs and chicken were next. The chicken was so bland and dry, the ribs were tender but taste like nothing unless they were smothered in sauce. My boyfriend a former corrections officer (who ate the food prepared by inmates everyday) refused to eat anything except cornbread and macaroni! The next day we decided to eat burger king and subway. I really wanted to like this place, I love traveling and trying new places but this is a NO-GO read more

The sh*t. Go here, damn you. Portions are for families and the brisket, pulled pork and chicken can rival the best of em. Customer service is top notch. Like being at a family reunion with folks you don't fight with every Thanksgiving. read more

We ate here yesterday, 6/27/2013, and the food was good. Had a sampler, an order of boneless buffalo-sauced chicken strips, cornbread, smoked macaroni and cheese and baked beans sides. Prices are very reasonable, the staff pleasant and friendly, the food was delicious and the place was very clean. The smell of the smoker as you walk up to the front door was fresh and not overwhelming. I don't know why people get so down on a place because it's "not the best BBQ I've ever eaten" -- this place's BBQ is above average and as long as it's consistently good, we would definitely eat here again if we come back to the area, and recommend it to others. Don't come expecting the best BBQ you've ever eaten. Come expecting good and solid BBQ that's fairly priced and served in a clean and pleasant establishment. This alone sets Archie's above many other places, and that's what makes it worth it. read more

Came here for lunch and split a buffalo chicken wrap and a meat plate (half brisket half pulled pork). We had asked that the buff chick had ranch instead of bleu cheese, but that didn't exactly happen, oops. The meat plate was excellent and I loved the BBQ sauce. As sides we got the potato salad and meaty beans (lol) and they were both DELICIOUS. Also loved the cornbread. Classic BBQ place, maybe one day I will be back for the mountain (wo)man challenge! read more

Archie's Barbeque - Half Buffalo chicken wrap and a meat plate ft. brisket and pulled pork. Mmmmmm - Barbeque Near Me - McHenry, Maryland

This is a great, great barbecue joint in McHenry. It's family-run and their passion for their restaurant shows. I was a little apprehensive when we went in at first, because it was so *clean*. That's generally a bad sign in a BBQ joint. I expect a little damp smokiness and some sticky tables. Nope, not at Archie's. I got the sampler platter, which could also be described as "two animals, three ways". Ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, plus some beans and cornbread. It was great; the ribs in particular stood out. My wife was also quite happy with her ribs. The kids got pulled chicken sandwiches, which were quite large. So I had to help finish them. Which technically brought the "animals consumed" total to three. The only downside to the place is that the self-serve soda machine is set too high for the kids to reach, so I had to put down the ribs and help. Sigh. read more

Just so-so. Ribs were tender, but didn't have a strong smokey taste. Baked beans tasted dressed up off the shelf, as did green beans. Pleasant service and ambience was fine. Okay beer selection, but only bottled. (Was it my imagination, or was that a drug transaction that went on in the dining room?) We won't be back. read more

I'm a pretty big fan of this hidden gem. It's rare you can get good meat along with good sides ... and this joint has it all. Folks complaining that it's a take out joint need to either a) eat there or b) take it home and enjoy it! read more

Got the brisket and it was not your typical brisket. Very dry and overcooked. Looked more like roast beef. The ribs however looked phenomenal and my friends really enjoyed those. Service was friendly too. read more

Archie's Barbeque - TASTELESS MEAT - Barbeque Near Me - McHenry, Maryland

BBQ? Really? The only thing BBQ about this place was the sauce. I got the sampler platter which consists of ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. The ribs had no smoke flavor and were not spice rubbed. They were a bit greasy but they were very tender. The brisket had no smoke ring which should have been a clue. It had no bark and was very bland, and I'm guessing it was cooked in an oven and not smoked. It had no flavor at all. The pulled pork was average at best and in my opinion it was over sauced. The best item on the plate was the cornbread! It was moist and dense and didn't even need butter. Honestly, if you're craving good BBQ like we were don't stop here. read more

This place was fabulous! My husband and I were exploring the area today and stumbled upon Archie's after searching yelp for "bbq". Did not disappoint! We split the piggy platter with chopped brisket and pulled pork- both were amazing. Definitely the best brisket I have ever had, and my husband was all over my pulled pork. The corn bread was moist and sweet and delicious. We couldn't decide between three sides so we got all of them. Our favorite was the meaty baked beans but the potato salad and mac n cheese were also amazing. The service was great, the tables were clean, the decor was fun and woodsy, and the cashier was very friendly and had excellent recommendations. If we are ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back! read more

I'm picky about my BBQ and my fiancée is even pickier. He compares every BBQ place to his favorite so I knew when we came out to the Deep Creek area for his birthday and we found a BBQ place he'd probably do the same. But, he really didn't! He got the sandwich that had a pound of meat on it and while I was slightly disgusted, he loved it. I was super pleased with Archie's because it's rare that a BBQ place has my favorite, pulled chicken, which they did. All the sides and especially the cornbread are great, too. PS. I got heartburn just looking at their food eating competition... read more

Meh is about right. Nice staff and a nice inside, but everything I had there was bland. Everything from the iced tea to the mac n cheese to the brisket sandwich left a lot to be desired. My friend had the pulled pork and my other friend had the turkey and had similar reactions. The least repulsive dish seemed to be the ribs as my friend said they were decent. Even the BBQ sauce was mediocre. What a shame. read more

Fantastic BBQ! Following social distancing protocols well! Will definitely return!! Ribs were out of this world.

Came here with a group of 7 for a birthday dinner for an 11 year old. We came off the mountain after riding and he wanted meat. Staff was great. We had child that's super picky, another that never had buffalo sauce and two that wanted all spicy wings and some ribs. You get it-mayhem with the ordering. The staff took it in stride and brought out the orders super fast. They know the demands of families that should have eaten an hour earlier. They brought out a cake we brought with the requisite Happy Birthday chorus. Big portions, left overs, meat was flavorful and moist. Definitely a repeat next time we're back. read more

Not enough words to describe this place! I live in Cumberland and make special trips up to the lake just to eat at Archie's. Although the place is small, there's always enough seating. This is true, authentic BBQ. Great menu, excellent flavors, ample portions and the staff is always great. If you're ever in the Deep Creek area, don't skip this place! read more

Excellent! Some of the best bbq, ribs and brisket I have eaten. Not too overpowering with smoke... just right. Melts in your mouth. The house sauce may be as good as it gets. Archie's Barbeque - Barbeque Near Me - McHenry, Maryland

First time visit on our trip to Deep Creek. We were welcomed right away by a girl who presented us with menus and told us how to do our ordering. We had a party of 6 and getting in and finding a table on a Thursday night was no problem at all at 6:30. I had the sampler platter which consisted of ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. I had to try them both to get a feel of what the offerings are... I highly recommend the ribs. I did see a bunch of people ordering the challenge and splitting it. I guess to get a taste of everything and not leave too stuffed that would be the way to go. We will definitely be back. Super fast service. Great staff. A definite hit while in the area. read more

We had traveled to the area and were headed home but realized we were starving and were not wanting to wait til we got home and cooked. So we stopped here on our way out of town. The menu isn't extensive, and I found it somewhat pricey, but it tasted amazing. We were greeted immediately by the cashier who told us how to order and answered our questions. She was very friendly and basically made the whole experience great. We both ordered the two hand sandwiches (~$8), one with pulled pork and one with brisket. They don't come with a side, so we ordered mac and cheese and baked beans (~$3 each). The food was prepared quickly and tasted great. There is a reason they call them two hand sandwiches, it felt like there was a 1/2 pound of meat on each. Slightly pricey, quick service, friendly people. read more

Archie's Barbeque - Had the sample dish on the menu and it was enough for 2-3 people! - Barbeque Near Me - McHenry, Maryland

The food was DELICIOUS! Although a bit pricey, we definitely got our money's worth. We got the brisket and pulled pork plates; the meat was cooked very nicely, and the cornbread was possibly the best I've ever had! Very filling. We also got the Mac n cheese, which was good but a little cold. The person who gave us our food was very pleasant, but the cashier seemed like he could not be bothered when taking our order. And the outdoor seating was really nice, along with the easy location. This was a little off-putting, but overall, a great place! read more
