The pizza wasn't cut all the way through
    Kim H.

Our 3rd and probably last time getting from this place. We have many other better local places to order from. This last time we got the grandma's 6 cut pizza ($13.95), gnocchi with meatballs ($19.45) and a side of fries ($3.50). The pizza was insanely greasy and the cheese and sauce both tasted like absolutely nothing. I ate one piece and was finished. The gnocchi was homemade, but was a tad overpriced. We will say this last time delivery didn't take as long as the last time.

Arcaro's the Next Generation has a menu offering items such as : mini potato pancakes, fried calamari, wing bites, strombolis, soups, salads, calzones, kids meals including but not limited to, hot dogs and fries, an assortment of round and old forge style pizzas, hoagies, clubs, burgers, Italian Entrees, Platters, Desserts and more! Francine said hands down every single night they sell out of their Deep Dish Fried Pizza. -- On my visit, the Arcaro family and staff presented me with a variety of menu items to devour, photograph, and enjoy. First the Crab stuffed mushrooms, which are served every Friday and Saturday evening and were one of her late husband's favorite appetizers. Second, Housemade Gnocchi which is made every week and filled with Impastata rather than the usual potato you see in gnocchi dishes, and topped with homemade meatballs that are amazing! I had never had gnocchi served this way before and I really enjoyed the richness and creaminess that the Impastata gave in every bite! Garlic Parm Wing Bites- drizzled in a garlic parm sauce and served with blue cheese and celery, Im a wing bite fanatic so I like to try them everywhere I go! Double Crust White Pizza- My favorite menu item! Its baked to a golden perfection, and stuffed with ooey-gooey cheese and any topping you want. I just had mine plain and I was eating it for days! I love pulling the double crusts apart to see the cheese stretch fresh outta the oven. Old Forge Red Plain Pizza- As we know, Old Forge Style Pizza is the house and family favorite in NEPA. This is where my preference for pizza differs from the norm. I wasn't raised in this area. I was born in NJ, raised about an hour or so from here until I was 10, and lived in Ohio until I was 20. I was raised mainly on NY style pizza - you know the slices that are as big as a paper plate that leave grease behind and has thick crust that breaks your jaw and takes hour to eat? However, the pizza is terrible in Ohio, so when I move back here about 10 years ago, the first thing I ordered was Pizza. With that being said, I lived in Scranton for about 9 years... I lived close to Old Forge, and right next door to Maronis Pizza for 5 years. It just wasn't my style. I tried it from many different places and couldn't and still can't understand why it's so popular? This is why I am very serious about telling people I am not a Food Critic. Everyone's tastes are different and everyone prefers different flavors, textures, and styles of food. I am not saying Old Forge Pizza is bad or gross or terrible. I am simply stating it's not for those raised outside of NEPA. You either love it, or you hate it. What I will tell you is, I have tried a lot of Old Forge Style Pizza in the past 10 years... Arcaro's the Next Generation, may have some of the better OF pizza that I have tried. It's not exactly like Old Forge Pizza- it's thicker... yet not exactly Sicilian. The sauce tastes a little different, and that is why I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed their OF Style Pizza. The red pizza came out hot and fresh, and I recommend it to anyone in the area. As the double crust white pizza was my favorite, I would try the red pizza again. Holy Cannoli! Again, I will state I am not a Food Critic. However, I find something I like I will let you know- I am not shy when it comes to matters of the gut! I was hesitant on ordering a cannoli. I hate cannolis- yes I hate them. Mainly because they are stuffed with marscapone- an Italian Cream Cheese that my taste buds just don't agree with. When Francine told me she fills theirs with Impastata, or mixed ricotta, my eyes got bigger than my plate and I asked her for one. There is only one other place in the area that I have been to that makes them this way and it's up in Dunmore and I haven't been able to find one since. Needless to say I licked the plate clean and this was my favorite item I devoured that night. I can see myself stopping in for one or two..or ten in the near future. If you'd like information on ingredients in these dishes please contact Arcaro's directly.

When I lived here, this was my go-to spot for amazing Italian food, warm hospitality, and excellent service, all served up with a dash of that Agolino family magic. (Spoiler alert: nothing has changed, and that's a beautiful thing!) The moment I walked in, I was greeted by Chef Sam Agolino himself, and it felt like running into an old friend. He hasn't aged a day (what's his secret?!). I met up with a buddy--another die-hard PAZZO fan--and we settled in for a night of catching up over some truly mouthwatering dishes. Our server was top-notch, giving us plenty of time to chat and reminisce without feeling rushed. Since I was driving, I didn't indulge in one of PAZZO's famous cocktails, but was happy to see that non-alcoholic beer was available. The menu still had some of my old favorites, which made it impossible to choose (in the best way). We kicked things off with salads and two orders of their legendary meatballs. Let me tell you--those meatballs are something I'd order every time I visited and tonight they were just as I remembered them - perfectly seasoned, tender, and absolutely divine. For the main event, I went with the Vitello Neapolitan: breaded veal and eggplant layered with fresh mozzarella over pasta. The veal was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the pasta perfectly al dente, and the sauce? Chef's kiss perfection. My friend opted for the orecchiette pasta and raved about every bite. By the time dessert rolled around, we were so full we couldn't even think about it. Dinner at PAZZO had me questioning all my life choices--like why I ever left NEPA in the first place. But then I stepped outside into the freezing Pennsylvania air and remembered why I traded snow boots for flip-flops in Florida. Still, great Italian food like this is hard to find down south, and PAZZO makes me miss it every single time. The Agolino family has been a culinary staple in NEPA for decades, and it's easy to see why people keep coming back. Chef Sam, Corinne, and the entire team--thank you for an unforgettable evening! If you're in the area and haven't experienced PAZZO yet, stop reading this and GO. - Would move back to PA (temporarily) for the meatballs.

Food and service are fantastic. You are treated like family and everything is absolutely delicious!read more

The bad: this point has to do with their automatic gratuity system. Nothing to do with the kitchen. I am not sure if anything over a party of 4 gets automatic tip, but it falls apart here: the bottle list. We ordered a bottle of wine. $115. Total cost with tax and gratuity is $143. That's $27 over the cost of the actual bottle. Or a 20% tip roughly. And they probably calculated the tip post tax. Had I known that I would not have ordered a bottle. Now for the arguments of "serving a bottle involves some labor that should be compensated ". Let's do the math. The cheapest bottle they have is 60$. If you were to charge gratuity and tax on this bottle it would be $76.20. That's only $16.30. Not a bad price right? Given the service of opening said bottle and pouring it. BUT... The most expensive bottle they have is $360. If you order that bottle, you will be paying an extra $97.20. That is a huge markup. And if I'm missing something, tell me how the service on a $360 bottle is different than the service on a $60 bottle. Does the server come out with a little song and dance for the more expensive one justifying an additional $97.20 on a $360 bottle of wine? Do you realize how absurd this is? My guess is that the owners don't realize the point I'm trying to make- to give them the benefit of the doubt. That is the best situation. The worst is if the owners know this, and are fleecing the customers. I'd like to believe this is not the case. To sum up: go for the food. Order wine by the glass. DO NOT order bottle service. You will be in for a nasty surprise. The average markup for A bottle of wine is 3x the amount in a restaurant. Retail my bottle was $45. I know this. And if it's $115, that's fair. After all the restaurant makes more money on liquor sales than food. I'm okay with that. But what I find reprehensible is that they charge a service fee on top of that. Which by my calculation is 20%. Therein lies the fallacy. The same 20% charge is applied to the cheapest to most expensive bottle. The effort made to open and serve said bottles are exactly the same! They don't disclose this practice to the patrons. I've run this by multiple people I know. They all say this practice is shady as hell. Enough said, go for the food. Don't get a bottle of wine.

We were lucky enough to score a romantic, private booth at Grico's and they were offering their Valentine's menu as far out as Thursday. There was a perfect pace to our meal, and the drinks were noticeablely delicious. The appetizers were flavorful but still light; no heavy breading on the clams casino, really nicely seasoned and the jumbo lump crab cocktail was so fresh I just opted for a squeeze of lemon. The salads were incredible; the croutons on the Caesar were crisp and airy, the toasted pine nuts with the arugula salad added that crunch that some salads are missing. It would have been an epic meal even if it had to end there, but the entrees delivered as well. The massive portion of Seafood Fra Diavolo (shrimp, scallops, calamari and clams in spicy marinara over linguine) had my fiance packing leftovers, and the only reason I didn't finish my meal was to have another crack at this savory peppercorn encrusted bone-in pork shank beauty the next day. Rested on a mushroom brandy cream sauce, with broccoli and oven-roasted crispy seasoned potatoes, every bite smothered in that sauce was delicious. We felt like, for what we got, it was an excellent value and items were appropriately priced; staff were very welcoming and had great, honest and personal recommendations to help us decide between all the great menu options. This is basically seafood-forward Italian dining done right, with top-notch cocktails in an inviting atmosphere...we'll most certainly be back!

This guy was very helpful explaining the menu, I was looking for a 12 inch where he explained that they do not have that size, I was offered a 6, 9, or 24 inch hoagie. I asked for the 9. I got a Primo Italian with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and I asked mayo no dressing. He asked my name for the order, and I sat down, I heard my name so as I was getting up the young lady brought it over to me. I am going to start believing that this is a very difficult request may no dressing. The last Primo's I went to was about 3 years ago in Edwardsville and they gave it to me dry, I have not been back to one until today and I get mayo and dressing. Primo's you were doing really well until I tasted dressing. Now I will say in their favor it was a nice, thick hoagie, the bun was between soft yet on the crisp side, I also found out as time went on you can order seedless for some sizes of their buns. I also liked that they shred the lettuce, my tomatoes were juicy, the pickles were thick and other then the dressing it was a great tasting Italian. Definitely a 4 out of 5, now you may be asking it's just dressing, well here is the thing, that's not the point, the point was that there was no communication between the one who took the order to the one who made it. I did enjoy this hoagie; I do want to go back to try some of their hot hoagies like maybe the meatball. Now Pittston does have a couple places where you can get hoagies, but one closes at 5:30 and the other 7:00 so if you are craving a hoagie after 7ish you can come here.
