He also said he'd remove a bunch of grass and he never did. I made the mistake of paying him the majority of the money up front, and it's now been months with no return or updates to finish the job. To make matters worse, Greg asked me out, and after I declined, I noticed his communication and effort completely stopped. As a widow, I feel deeply taken advantage of, both financially and personally. This has been a frustrating and disheartening experience. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone.

They care for my mature grapefruit and full-grown pine tree, with fungicide, and both receive yearly deep root vitamins. They always show up on time and give me a courtesy call before arriving. They've earned my trust, so now they come and provide my tree services, and I don't feel the need to be home when they come. To me, this says everything about their professionalism and integrity. I also now prepay for services without hesitation because they've earned that level of trust. What truly sets them apart is their proactive approach to tree health. They have me scheduled to be called early each Spring to set up services through October, and I pay monthly for what was done that month. Their monthly sunscreen applications for my mature grapefruit tree have quite literally saved its life, especially the summer of 2023, when temperatures reached 120 degrees, hot enough that I heard from others how they lost some of their trees and bushes that year. Mine remained healthy and continues to thrive under their care. I have to speak up and say that if there is a poor review on here, remember: there are always two sides to every story. There's something more to the story the poster is not saying because this company works and communicates with you exceptionally well. Their communication goes over and above any other company I've dealt with. I just wish the healthcare system treated ME as well as this company treats my trees. I did the math, and it is significantly cheaper to pay for a service to keep your trees alive than the cost of having a company come in and chop them down. That can be up to thousands of dollars for mature trees, plus you have a barren spot and no shade there afterwards. In this Phoenix climate, sun protection is prudent for both man and animals and may no longer be optional. Now it's becoming essential for plants and trees, and Valley Tree Care is clearly ahead of the curve in offering sun spray services. If you want dependable service and long-term value, they are an excellent choice.

The workers who did the work were very pleasant but were definitely out of their comfort zone. My mother spoke with one of their arborists as was able to set a time to meet at her residence, which never happened. Instead she spoke with him on the phone. He told her he would speak with his supervisor to see what they could do to make it right. That's been over a week with no call backs. She called and left a message on the arborists phone and still no response. It's unfortunate how this played out and my mother is now left with an eyesore of a tree. UPDATE! After my review posted I received a response asking for my mom's address or name. They made a comment about making it right. This is far from the truth. Since the post my mom has attempted to get any type of response and/or accountability for their obvious hideous tree trimming. They have told her several times someone would call her and it just never happens. As early as today they told her they would have "scheduling" call her and of course she never received a call. The overall lack of professionalism is just astounding. I have posted several more photos of this disaster so all can see the expertise in their attention to detail. They also left a dead branch near the top of the tree, which you can see in the photos. My mom has called them several times to come and remove said branch and again no response. Good luck to those who decide to roll the dice with Valley Tree Care. And yes, as of this posting STILL zero resolution for destroying my mother's mature tree.

Earthtones was recommended to us by a neighbor but it appears we've had very different experiences. Steve was nearly two hours late to our scheduled appointment. We work from home and are flexible on time so a postponement wasn't an issue but it was a harbinger of how things would go from there. Steve sent a crew the following Saturday. They worked for several hours in the front yard and then left without a word. We waited a few days to see if they would come back to finish. They did not. My husband contacted Steve about the remaining work and Steve sent a crew out again. This time, they finished the work. No one ever completed the irrigation audit. Because of the lack of communication and continuous need for follow-up, we have terminated our relationship with Earthtones. I will note that the crews did fine work but ultimately, I need a company that is reliable and communicative.

We did a walkthrough with one of the owners, and received a quote that we found reasonable. Six weeks later, they canceled our service out of nowhere because "our property is too large" for the crew. First of all, their two man crew was typically in and out in 20-30 minutes. Secondly, they never even notified us of their cancellation, they just didn't show up and let me know when I questioned why they never came. Thirdly, why would you provide us with a proposal after seeing the property if it is something you can't handle? It was a disappointing experience with them. They promised a lot, and then failed to deliver. I would look elsewhere.

We have only hired someone to prune our trees once and it was not a good experience (it was Moon…read moreValley Nursery and arborists don't think highly of them). After the bad experience (and losing our 12 year old plum), I decided when we needed service again I'd get recommendations from a local arborist group on Facebook, and SavATree was recommended as well as a few others. I reached out to three and SavATree was the only one to respond. They're very prompt with responses. Julie in the office was very helpful, and the arborist Roy was extremely knowledgeable and happy to educate us on what our Arizona Ash Tree needs, and what was the likely cause of the die off we were seeing (suspected herbicide poisoning). The cost was higher than anticipated (close to double what Moon Valley charged) but we trusted Roy. He put together a treatment plan which included pruning, soil remediation and fertilizer. Two guys came out to do the actual pruning and they were great. Very nice and thorough. They thoughtfully removed competing branches for the health of the tree. They spent much longer and took off much more than Moon Valley did. Being December, its leaves were dropping quite a bit, and even shook out while they were in it cutting. They were so sweet to blow and haul away the leaves. That was unexpected and very much appreciated. They said since we gave them water they were happy to do it. (A good reminder that it pays to be kind to one another.) We had them remove the stump from our dead purple plum as well and they were careful to remove the river rock from the tree well first so they wouldn't get buried in the hole. The team that does the fertilizer treatments is very nice and knowledgeable as well. Our only criticism is that the fertilizer scheduling system doesn't let you choose a timeframe. That probably works for businesses and homes where the trees are in the front yard, and for some people if they don't have a dog in the back yard or need to allow access through the house as we do, but for us, a specific time (or window) is needed in order to let them into the yard. We don't plan to do the fertilizer indefinitely so we'll deal with it for a few months but it would be nice if their system was more accommodating. We'll definitely keep going to them for all of our tree pruning needs and recommending them to others. I can't wait to see our ash when the leaves come back.
