I had the shawarma plate a while back and I was craving the well-seasoned meat with the tangy sauce. I was on my way to the airport and Arbeel Kabob was conveniently on the way, so I stopped in for a quick bite. I'm greedy and would've loved to order the plate, but I was going to have to go through airport security in a minute and didn't want to carry leftovers, so I opted for the sandwich, which is a steal by the way. The sandwich was $2.99. When the sandwich came out and I took a bite, I was greeted with the delicious shawarma, fresh veggies, and that tangy sauce that I've only had here. It was the perfect portion for lunch, and I didn't have to eat airport food. I think I might make it a regular stop on my way to the airport. read more

Don't let the small dining area in a small shopping center fool you. Absolutely loved the Kabab here. It's iraqi style leaning very soft and fatty - melts in your mouth. The portion sizes are quite large. The lentil soup is very filling and again authentic Baghdadi style. We ordered Kabab with rice and tasted several stews- the okra, eggplant, and white bean that were so homey. My children, husband and loved the food. I will be back for sure. read more

The worst food in Dearborn. We went to Arbeel Kabob for the first time last night and still can't believe how this place stays open. We eat out in Dearborn nearly every weekend and we know all the differences between Lebanese, Yemeni, Syrian and Iraqi food. This place has the latter and literally the most disgusting food we have eaten in years. The service was a joke, but the server was friendly enough. We had the "feast for two" which starts with lentil soup (ok), a salad (no flavor) and then 5 or 6 different types of kabobs. Absolutely horrible. Everything was so overcooked, we could barely swallow it. Of course, this is an Iraqi place so you get no toum or pitas and we tried to find something on the plate we could eat. The gus (shawarma) was literally like small pieces of wood, that is how overcooked it was. We brought it home hoping the dog would eat it. She took a couple of bites and left the rest in the bowl. This place is an embarrassment. There are probably 100 Middle Eastern restaurants in Dearborn better than this place. Stay away. read more

Shocked with so little reviews! this is "The Place" to go for Iraqi Kabbab. It's not the kabbab wana be, or your ordinary kabbab shop, it's not the industrial taste. This is the authentic kabbab that you find in the streets of Baghdad. Simple, flavorful, and unique. I'm from LA, and I run to this place the minute I come to Michigan. Now lets talk about the restaurant.. as I said, it's simple, not luxury.. so don't get disappointed.. I tend to go by myself for pick up. I have gone with my dad and sat there.. the TV was too loud, and it was in arabic.. I could have done without it, but they don't always have it on. Don't bother going to anywhere else, your not gonna find the same kabbab. I promise. P.S. you have to order the Iraqi tea to joint the Kabbab. Arbeel Kabab was one of my favorite restaurants during our stay in Detroit. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My family and I had dinner and breakfast here. The food, customer service, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect. The portions are huge. Complimentary lentil soup and tea is provided with orders. Our server was very helpful when we asked for directions to bakeries. The only negative is they don't make fresh bread at the location, bread is bought from another location for the restaurant. All in all, would totally come back here and recommend to others. read more

We got the lamb shank, kabab, lentil soup and bean soup. Everything was cooked and seasoned absolutely perfect. The kabab is the best I've ever had and the lamb was so juicy and tender. The portion sizes are huge. The decor of the building is beautiful, there's is plenty of room to park and our server was so kind and made sure we were taken care of while we were there. Iraqi kabob is an Iraqi specialty. It is loose, ground lamb and/or beef grilled over fire on a skewer. Why is that so special? It isn't just a hamburger on a stick. It is mixed with some seasoning and fat. The fat drips out when the meat is grilled. This leaves you with a moist, tasty, and 'fluffy' (i.e. loose) skewer of flame grilled steak-burger perfection. Iraqi kabob is served with a grilled tomato, fresh onion slices, fresh sweet basil leaves, a dash of purple colored meat seasoning called 'sumac' and an Iraqi type of bread called 'samoon'. You may prefer to cut open the samoon, put in one kabob, add a dash of sumac, add a slice of grilled tomato with a squeeze of lemon wedge and a dash of salt, then add the onion slices and basil leaves. It is hard to get the basil leaves, which are traditional for this dish. Mostly you will get wide leaf parsley. It isn't bad; but, trust me, fresh basil will just take it all to another level. Iraqi shawarma is called 'gus'; I swear this version tastes better. Ask for 'amba' sauce to put over the gus. it gives the meat a sort of wine taste. Order a half kabob, half gus plate and decide for yourself. Strong tea in a glass with a lot of sugar is the traditional meal wrap-up. read more
