This was my first time trying Georgian food and it did not disappoint! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was pretty vibey and the service was good where they explained the dishes pretty well![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried a few different vegetarian options (which they had quite a few of) and liked everything! We first tried the Pkhali with bread and oh my gosh, that was the best dish I tried all week! We loved all the different flavors and scooped the dish clean. We then tried the Adjaruli Aragvi and we liked the avocado on top. My recommendation is to eat it as soon as it comes out because we waited a bit too long and the cheese was not as warm anymore, still good though! Finally I got to eat authentic Georgian food and drink an amazing Georgian natural wine I heard so much great things about. The wait was worthy. Shamal (I hope I didn't butcher his name) was our server and he was friendly, professional and very helpful in making food choices and wine. We had the traditional dumplings and the Gregorian style salad for appetisers. The dumplings are very satisfying and so juicy and not just because the delicious soup inside (there's a way to eat it without getting splashed all over yourself). We also had the Kharcho soup which was tasteful. Than we shared the Happy Lamb main dish. It was delicious and aromatic. And since we didn't order a khachapuri, I had to take one to got for breakfast. It was a great choice. The great smell accompanied all the way home. The Imeruli didn't fail, it was absolutely delicious even after 3 minutes in a hot oven. Do not reheat in microwave! For dessert we had the transitional Palamushi (no pic). It is a great finish to a wonderful meal that is not sweat like most desserts in American restaurants. Lastly, if you drink natural wines like I do (I can't drink the traditional wines since I was introduced to Orange/Amber/Natural or PatNat), you must try one of the Amber wines in the menu. CASRELI KHIKHVI was my choice. If you are not familiar with these special wines, look it up, because it was invented in Georgia few thousands years ago (!). I know I'll back! read more

I had no idea what Georgian food entailed and so had really no expectations coming in, but I was absolutely amazed! Everything was delicious and had amazing flavors and was so perfectly filling. The pkhali was our absolute favorite, an appetizer dish with so many interesting flavors and we could not get enough! We got the adjaruli aragvi khachapuri which was also really good, a little more on the cheesy side but I loved it! What a cute and cozy spot! Never had Georgian food before, so I was excited to try it out. My group of 4 shared: - Chef's Khinkali: basically giant and thick soup dumplings! You hold it using the dough stem, which was pretty cool. - Adjaruli: you can't go wrong with this as a cheese lover. I definitely could've eaten one by myself. - Royal Chalahach (lamb chops): loved the pistachio sauce on this. Lamb was cooked perfectly - Lucky Duck: super tender and on the sweeter side. The group really enjoyed this - Honey Cake (dessert): Huge hit with the group as well, perfect dessert to end the night. I loved the food and definitely want to come back to try more of their menu. Really enjoyed this place. Trying to find a place like it for years. My first taste of Georgian food in the US, and it didn't disappoint! I got to try the Adjaruli khachapuri, Adjaruli ayran, khinkali, and matsoni yogurt, as dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious and very fairly priced, in my opinion. The khachapuri was a Georgian classic, and recommended by the staff. They mixed it right in front of me! Very cheesy, very evenly distributed surprisingly. The edges are buttery and still crispy, my favorite part! You can dip them in the middle as well. Very very good. The khinkali were equally delicious. 4 juicy dumplings with a top that makes them perfect for flipping, drinking the juice, and then eating the whole thing. Staff gave directions on the process! It's still messy, but well worth it. The filling and the soup are so flavorful and tender, just perfect. Earlier, I went to another NYC restaurant to try ayran, and discovered I was obsessed with it, so I ordered it here too. It's supposed to be their Georgian take on it. Not sure how authentic it is, but it was still pretty tasty. I do think I preferred the other place more, but the presentation on this one (came in a clay container, foamy at the top) was great. Finally, I ended the meal with some delicious yogurt as a dessert: Matsoni. Absolutely loved it. Very creamy, slights undertones of sweetness. They added honey and almonds as well. Just perfect. I really love Georgian food, the kind you won't find in Atlanta. This was quite a spacious restaurant with a good sized menu. Only regret is that I couldn't eat more dishes during my visit! Chef's Khinkali: These are like massive thick skinned soup dumplings. I've had these before at other places, but this was the first time I received instructions on how to eat them. After it cools a little, you can grab them by the dough stem and bite off a little dough on the side then suck out juice. It kinda looks funny and feels like a post-date activity, but it's so tasty! Love all the meaty lamb and lamb juices. And somehow just black pepper is enough, not needing soy sauce or vinegar. Adjaruli: This is exactly what I think of when I think of Georgia cuisine. As a cheese lover, this is right up my alley. It's kinda like fondue, if the fondue pot were made of bread. Love breaking off side pieces of the bread and dipping it in. Such a nice tangy cheese. Lamb Lula: It's a bit like a deconstructed wrapped. Reminds me of an adana kebab. Love the pickled cabbage and sauce for all sorts of nice flavoring. Georgian Tea: Sweet and herbal. So far I only been to one other Georgian restaurant, so when I saw a Georgian spot on GrubHub I had to check it out. When I went to pick up my food, I saw it's a cute little place. But, I didn't get to take photos of the interior, since I was only there briefly. I thought their dinner deal was reasonably priced. If you haven't experienced Georgian cuisine and tried wine from the region that invented it, then you must try Aragvi. They were kind to offer tastes of wine so that we could make a decision. The white wine they suggested was perfect for our appetizers. The dumplings were fantastic and definitely a must order. Mushroom dumplings were the favorite but all are excellent. We had ordered lamb kebabs, and a sausage dish. Amazing and very filling. I suggest getting grilled veggies and sharing some dishes. I wish I had ordered more wine. read more

Came here around 6pm on a Thursday night and was able to get a seat immediately. Our waiter came around immediately to ask which type of water we preferred and gave us ample time to decide what we wanted to order without rushing us. He was also very patient in explaining to us what each dish was so we'd be able to make our decisions more swiftly. Started off with a light salad which has a good balance of all your classic salad ingredients with a light vinegar dressing. Can't really go wrong with that one ! We also ordered the Classic Khachapuri (cheese boat) and it's one of the most amazing things I've tried. It's got a crispy base to hold the cheese in so when you take a bite, you're getting the perfect amount of cheese and bread! Best part is, your server will show you how the cheese is suppose to be melted and folding - talk about a good pull! Also got the lamb skewers which is soo juicy and meaty. I'm not a huge lamb person at all but I enjoyed this a lot ! Not gamey at all (which is honestly my biggest concern when it comes to lamb.) Finished off with the honey cake which is a must!! I've had my fair share of honey cakes but this one tops them all for how moist it is and has the right balance of sweet and savoury. The drizzle of I think pistachio was a great touch. Delicious food, excellent service, beautiful decor! My two sons and I visited Aragvi restaurant for an early dinner on Dec 29, 2024. All ordered food was delicious and perfect. Service was very friendly, attentive, and overall flawless. Very importantly the dishes were served with right timing, not all at the same time. Restaurant has a beautifully designed decor and a warm atmosphere. We also liked personal electronic menus that looked like a menu book and had an easy navigation. It was so much better than scanning a QR code and figuring out the menu on a phone screen. Thanks! We had a great time and we highly recommend Aragvi as a stylish restaurant with delicious Georgian cuisine. It fully deserves the super high rating it has! Food ordered Baje - in addition to a perfect base and texture it had a nice distinct spices combo and a generous amount of chicken. Khachapuri Megruli - excellent. Royal Khachapuri (Adjaruli with cheese khinkali on top) - this was absolutely delicious!!! Never tried such a thing. The cheese khinkali on top were amazing! And the actual Adjaruli was also perfect! I was seriously taken with this establishment. Walking distance from my office, so we did our team luncheon there. My goodness- stellar selection of Georgian dishes and WINES! The place is beautiful- very striking upon entering. We were pleasantly surprised when we first walked through the door. Full bar, and quite spacious for its location. Bright, lighted interior brings up the fun. Since it was a colleague's first time trying Georgian food, we went with a variety of apps and 1 entree, all shared family style. If you're familiar with Georgian food, you'll notice this is a slightly modern take on traditional, celebrated dishes. (The khinkali are huge! I went to this Georgian place a good while ago. The place is quite big and the food is a bit better than some of the other fancier spots like the more well known Old Tbilisi Garden and Chito Gvrito and a lot better than the popular Chama Mama. The staff was fine. To drink, I had as usual for a Georgian spot, Qveri, a type of traditional Georgian wine. I am unsure which one I got but from the menu description and vague memory it was likely the Vine Ponto Mtsvane which was tasty. The food here is a bit pricey but the portion sizes were big and the food is rich and filling so it was more worth it at that price point and besides the location means that it's going to be a bit more expensive. I started with the Chef's Khinkali for $18 or so which are a filled dumplings with a combination of ground lamb, beef, cilantro, basil, mint, and chopped onion. There's also a few more options such as mushrooms and some other things which is a bit more than the usual Georgian spot. If you haven't had khinkali before, the closest thing I can think of are soup dumplings/XLB but it's more herbal by comparison and the dumpling texture is a good amount thicker. These were pretty good with tender tasty meat and a bit of soup. I mostly compare these dumplings to the excellent ones at Cafedelia and these compare pretty well with a few more options. For my main dish, I went with the Pork Ojakhuri for around $20 which had pieces of pork, potato, onion, and Georgian seasoning which was pretty good. The meat was tender though there wasn't enough for the price point. The potatoes had good flavor from being cooked down and the dish came with tkemali on the side, a sour green plum sauce which helped with the richness. Along with my food, I remember otherwise someone else having a salad and I don't think there were other smaller plates though notably someone else did get a Puri (or rather Shotis puri,) a type of bread which is $3 here. Also listed as shoti in other restaurants, this is a thick bread and goes well with their stews with one person ordering the Chashushuli and another getting another stew which had a pot pie like topping. I tried each of the stews and they were solid and more flavored than my main and would recommend them. One person also of course ordered a khachapuri which in this case was the Chef's Adjaruli. This open-faced variety had ground beef, cheese, onion, and authentic Georgian spices for around $22 (the regular version is cheaper.) It was a bit smaller than others places being slightly bigger than the one at Chito Gvrito and it was fine. I would have preferred trying the more traditional variant but the flavor was decent. My dessert was the Honey Cake, a traditional layer cake with honey and almond for $15. This was worse than the one at CafeDelia being a bit drier and less rich. The presentation was nice though and it's more that the other place has an outstanding version then this place having a bad one as it's better here then at some of the other fancier spots. Someone else had the baklava (with walnuts, raisins, and honey) for the same price which I had a bit of which was drier by comparison to the Greek version but less sweet as expected which was preferential. I would probably go back here again and stick with the smaller plates or potentially try one of their mtsvadi/shish kabobs as a main dish. The food here is reasonable for the quality and better than some of the other fancier spots though in general, I still prefer CafeDelia the most with this being up there and being certainly better than the three most popular ones. One of my colleagues and I were looking to unwind after a long day at work, so we thought dinner and drinks was the perfect remedy. After a quick search of spots in the area, we landed on Aragvi. Both of our experiences with Georgian food was limited, but we were excited to try somewhere new - so of we went. Aragvi is conveniently located in Midtown East, it's somewhat inconspicuous from the outside but the interior tells a different story. The space is gorgeous - ornately decorated without being tacky, and lots of space with pops of color throughout. We arrived relatively early for dinner, but by the time we left there was a good amount of people dining. The menus were on iPads and contained pictures of each dish; I normally don't like this, but in this case I didn't mind as it helped me navigate a cuisine I had little experience with. We started with drinks - I had the strawberry mojito which was better than I expected; not too strong with a lot of flavor mmm. For food, we decided to order a bunch of things and share: shkmeruli, adjaruli, lamb lula, pkhali, crepes with meat, and khinkali with pork and beef. Everything was really tasty - the biggest standout for me was the adjaruli (I mean, cheese, egg, and bread - what's not to love). I really enjoyed the khinkali too - think of these as Georgian soup dumplings. To make them extra showy, they were presented in a huge dumpling and cut open to reveal the smaller ones tableside. The crepes with meat were my least favorite, they were lukewarm inside which was kind of a turnoff. For dessert we had the honey cake and Aragvi dessert (a layer cake with chocolate). The latter was pretty good, but that honey cake was really something special. Huge flavor without being overly sweet. Service was great - everyone was really friendly and attentive which really enhanced the overall experience. That said, everything still tasted delicious and felt authentic. The Atmosphere: Besides the spaciousness, the decor is warm and inviting, but the service could use a little adjustment. The staff seemed like they were auditioning for a speed-waiting championship. Plates were cleared almost before I finished my last bite, and before I could even think about a post-meal breather, they were already asking about dessert. I get it--efficiency is great, but letting diners relax a bit would enhance the experience. Sometimes you need a moment to miss your meal before diving into dessert! The Verdict: Aragvi delivers on flavor, space, and comfort--three rare finds in New York City dining. The dishes were delicious, the ambiance was inviting, and the roomy setup was a much-appreciated bonus. With just a little more attention to pacing and maybe a pinch more salt, this place could easily earn a five-star crown. This was my first time eating Georgian food, and I was very pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! The restaurant itself definitely felt a little more upscale, it seemed like most of the dinners around us were corporate meals with clients. The waiters were very polite and attentive. The food itself was also really good, since this was my first time eating Georgian I didn't know what to expect. The Borscht soup was a little spicy and a little sour and the adjaruli wasn't too cheesy or heavy and you could still taste the mushrooms. I will say the star of the show was definitly the lamb though - I'm typically not a huge lamb person but the pieces were grilled so perfectly, the meat was so tender and flavorful! We wanted to treat our NYC-based daughter for dinner the night before we left town. My husband had walked by Aragvi earlier in the day and ended up talking to the staff about the possibility of us coming back for dinner. He was impressed with their kindness and my daughter was eager to try it. She is a huge fan of Georgian food but hadn't been here before. When we arrived for dinner, the staff remembered my husband. We felt we were treated above and beyond because they were so grateful that he came back with us. Our server (I think his name is Otari) was excellent! Very friendly and attentive! He even brought us some vodka shots to start off our meal! We decided to share some dishes so that we could sample a few things. We started off with "Pkhali" ("a classic dish combination of spinach, beet, green beans, bell pepper, and leek. Seasoned with walnuts, garlic, greens, and a little bit of vinegar").It came out kind of like a sampler of dips - very hummus-like. They were all delicious! Otari suggested that we get some house-made Georgian bread to go with it and it was fabulous suggestion. My daughter and I love Khachapuri but have only had the traditional kind. Aragvi offers different types of it so we decided to try the Adjaruli with mushrooms ("Traditional open-faced khachapuri with cheese, mushrooms, cilantro, and basil). If you like mushrooms like we do, you will love this dish! My husband ordered the Tuna Steak ("Pan-fried tuna steak (medium) with asparagus, and cherry tomatoes. Served with wine sauce") and it, too, was delicious! We loved everything about our experience here - from the cool, modern ambiance to the delightful staff to the outstanding food. My coworker and I were actually on our way to a different restaurant when we walked past Aragvi. They had an animated menu outside for you to see pictures of their food, and once we scrolled through, we knew we were walking inside. The ambiance was very nice. I've never had Georgian food before, and this was a great first experience. I took my time going through their menu before deciding what I wanted to eat because there were some great options. I loved that the menu had pictures of everything. I was craving some lamb, so I got the Happy Lamb and the Mhlovani. The lamb was tender and well-seasoned and it paired nicely with the onions and sauce. The Mhlovani was a delicious mix of cheese and spinach. I also really wanted some lemonade or a more unique non-alcoholic drink. We had a magnificent waiter who was able to point out some wonderful things on the menu, including the Quince Compote. I've never had Quince before, so he described the flavor to me and brought the drink over to me to enjoy. It was so refreshing and delicious. I ended up having two of them, and now I'm seeking out that fruit in my local area. My coworker got the borscht with a side of sour cream, Adjaruli Aragvi, and the Napoleon for dessert. The Adjaruli Aragvi was crispy and nice with a cheesy potato filling. I tried a piece of the Napoleon, which was like a delicious custard inside of phyllo dough topped with powdered sugar. It was light, crispy, and sweet, the perfect end to the meal. I was so full, I could barely eat my share. This is an inviting, authentic Georgian restaurant. I came with a group of six for dinner. To start, we shared several of the khachapuri. The adjaruli was heavenly. Raw egg, cheese, and butter were blended into the bread. It was deliciously creamy and I loved that it was mixed fresh at the table. The chef's megruli was similar to pizza without the sauce. The smoked cheese was very rich and tasty. We also had the adjaruli with mushrooms. It was hearty and the mushrooms were nice and tender. For my main, I got the vegetarian salad. It was loaded with feta cheese. The beets were served warm so the salad didn't have a crisp, refreshing taste, but I still enjoyed it. I also got the baby khinkali aragvi. Although these were "baby" size, I was surprised that the dumplings were quite large. The mushrooms were well seasoned with nice texture and the accompanying sauce was tangy and flavorful. I tried a sip of my friend's mushroom soup and enjoyed the rich flavor as well. For dessert, we tried the honey cake. It was a little dry, but the layers gave it interesting texture. Servers were very attentive. For large groups, they automatically add 18% gratuity. There were a few empty tables on a Friday night so it might be a good place to stop in without a reservation. read more

This place is absolutely delicious and so fresh! To start off, I have gone to this restaurant 3-4 times during my business trips to NYC as it's close to the hotel I usually stay at. The food is delicious and I like the ambiance/vibe here. Prior to my finding Aragvi, I had never had Georgian food before as we don't really have them here in Los Angeles. Several of those times that I visited this restaurant I had the chicken mtsvadi which is similar to a chicken kabob dish. OMG, the mtsvadi is so tender and delicious! I cannot begin to tell you that their chicken has been the most tender piece of meat I have ever eaten in my life! I don't know how they make it so tender and juicy. I love their rice. I've gotten small sides of rice and it's been delicious, light, and flavorful. I've had their Georgian cornbread a few times (both the regular and the one with cheese), but I'm not a big fan of them. If you're thinking about coming here - do it! This place is a hidden gem - hands down the best Georgian food in NYC, and among the best restaurants in NYC overall. I'm familiar with Georgian cuisine, but have never had Georgian food like this before - the flavors were nuanced, and it was very apparent that the chef is extremely skilled. When you walk in, you are greeted by a beautifully-done spacious interior. I had originally requested an outdoor reservation (small complaint that they missed this detail when they seated us inside), but the beautiful interior made me forget that little detail until well after they seated us. The decor reminds me of a traditional Georgian wooden cottage, with elements of greenery reminiscent of a modern interior garden. You forget you're in the middle of a bustling city and are instead transported to what I later found to be a culinary wonderland. The Khachapuri was a classic, but tasted somehow elevated. The bread itself was light as a feather on the inside, with the perfect thin crisp on the outside. The egg/cheese inside was rich, flavorful and delicious, with flavor notes of butter popcorn (although there was no popcorn in it). The dish itself is a heavy one, but the Khachapuri here is not overly heavy, given what it is. The Pkhali is described as a trio of spreads - a spinach one, a green bean one, and a beet one. They come with three fried corn bread spheres. The cornbread is dense enough that it does not fall apart when you break it. The spreads are each unique and delicious. Eating this dish was itself a journey. My only complaint was that there was too little cornbread for the amount of spread. The Potatoes with Mushrooms was probably my favorite dish. The chef was able to transform something as simple as potatoes and mushrooms into a comestible masterpiece. It had just the right amount of salt, and was seasoned simply with fresh and flavorful herbs. The potatoes were crispy on the outside but were not too oily. And the mushrooms were also cooked to perfection. But the real star of this dish was the green sauce that came with it. Although I finished the mushrooms and potatoes, I had asked for the leftover sauce to go. I'm not exactly sure what's in it, but my speculation is that it has some kind of green plum, maybe mint, maybe some vinegar? For dessert, we had the Napoleon, which was pastry dough, with custard between the layers, topped with whipped cream, powdered sugar, and a fresh strawberry. It was also delicious, but pardon my lack of detail here, as I was still thinking about that green sauce. The service was also *perfect.* From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by all staff with smiles. I felt very welcome. We asked questions about the food, and our servers seemed happy that we wanted to know more about their food. My friend and I were at the restaurant for almost three hours, but we never felt rushed. The staff also periodically checked in on us to make sure we didn't need anything else, but without being intrusive. My only (super minor) complaint is that my server could not tell me exactly what was in the green sauce (although admittedly, this could be a protected trade secret). Stumbled onto this place looking for a meal on a Sunday night. Was on my own and had just flown into New York. I had the Chicken Tabaka at the recommendation of the bartender. It was very good. Staff was very friendly. I liked the atmosphere. I recommend for a date or business meal. Be willing to try something new as well. read more
