I can only hope he is paid multiple people's wages for providing one of the best experiences of my vacation. I was applauded when I walked into this establishment on a quiet Monday evening! It was one of the greatest welcomes I have received. (Thanks Bob) I was their first guest in quite some time that night which was the reason for extra fanfare. The atmosphere picked up for the Monday night football game shortly thereafter. I enjoyed an $8 margarita for the Monday Marg Madness happy hour special. As 2025 comes to an end, I want to give a big shout-out to Derek, his staff, and one of my favorite spots on the East Side. When my son told me he'd found an apartment in New York, I was thrilled for him, then he mentioned it was above an Irish bar that stayed open until 4 a.m. I honestly didn't know what to expect. I made plans to help him move in, and not only was I pleasantly surprised, I quickly realized this was one of the nicest neighborhood spots in the city. Great drinks, good food, and consistently friendly service. It has everything you want in a local bar. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and the vibe is just right. A quick FYI...don't let those $5 happy-hour espresso martinis fool you. They're delicious, but they definitely pack a punch. There are great drink specials during the week, and of course, perfectly poured, ice-cold Guinness on tap. Whenever I'm in town and waiting for my son, I stop in and they always remember me. We came by for a nightcap and opted to get a few coffee and creams which is their guinness and baby espresso martini for $15. We thought it was a great deal for an all day menu. Their baby espresso really hit the spot and really was more like half a normal espresso martini. For happy hour, it's $5 which is such a steal! read more

We came in here and the place was slow and empty. The service was nice. We were sitting right near the bartender and I was kind of disappointed how he poured the pint of Guinness since I heard this was one of the better places. That was alright but we ordered sweet potato fries and a surfside, both were listed as $8 in the menu but we were charged $10 so if your menu is out of date then change the prices. Also probably better to opt for the regular fries than the sweet potato ones. I would probably not go back to this place. read more

Came here for a quick drink on their Wine Down Wednesdays when all wines are $6. Service was super nice and friendly. Music wasn't too loud which made it perfect for catching up. Great bar, we were in NY for 4 days visiting and this was next to our hotel. My cousin, brother and I visited this bar every day sometimes to pre-party, some after crazy nights and sometimes to just go in the afternoon. Every bartender was nice and attentive. While this is a nice bar with good food and good location, I question their integrity. They surely inflated our bill by adding more drinks than we ordered. It's one of those things where you can't argue so we just got on with it. We also noticed they charged diff prices on the same dish in two of our tabs. And they charged service already in the final bill, but didn't tell us so we ended up adding more service charge. We won't go back. We have given them a lot of business as each time it's been 7-8 of us easily running 5-6 rounds each and ordering food. If they are cheating people that's a no no. We will also tell our other colleagues who go there to avoid or be careful. read more

Amazing experience here. Came here around 10:45pm on a thursday because the place we originally wanted to go to next door wasn't serving food anymore and they recommended us here. We walked in and were hit with super cozy vibes, lots of chatter and great service. The bartender let us know that because it was later they were only serving small bites, salad and sides which was what we were looking for. My mom and I ordered the beef sliders, wolfe tone tacos and sweet potato fries. The sliders were so good and the perfect size. My one complaint is they were a little dry as they don't come with sauce, but there was ketchup on the table so it was no problem. The sweet potato fries were great and the dipping sauce it came with was equally amazing. My mom loved the tacos as well but wished there was a little more sauce. I came in here last week to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in nearly a year. Time is just flying by these days. He said he was a huge fan of this restaurant and bar and the staff. I think he knew the manager from another establishment he loved in Astoria. Anyway, when I settled down I was quite pleased because the bar wasn't overly crowded which a lot in this area tend to be especially during happy hour on a Thursday. I could get a seat at the bar and think without having these Murray Hill bros fist pump back their craft beer. Thank god. Their drink menu is pretty excellent. Until 7pm you can get a selection of $10 cocktails, $7 wine and $7 beers. But even better they have a special of $5 espresso martinis. Yes, you heard me right. They're labeled as 'baby cocktails'. They are in a small glass but don't be fooled. It's still a legit normal sized cocktail that I've seen some bougie places try to sell at $18 in the same glasses. It was delicious as was their old fashioned (served in a larger vesicle). We also ordered food. I wasn't going to but it was insisted we were eating dinner. We started with splitting an order of fries. Their fries are the perfect style of french fry by the way. They're those thick cut steak fries that are cut from real potatoes. Not overly salted and just a big hunk of french fry. Ideal fries. I cannot even begin to fathom the bacon cheddar or curry version of these. It has to be magnificent. Later he moved on to ordering a burger and I went the bold move and got the shortrib mac and cheese. This was life changing. I haven't ordered a mac and cheese in quite a while. But I'm a mac and cheese snob and this was absolutely outstanding. Perfect cheese ratio. Perfect blend of cheeses. Creamy but bubbly and cheesy on top and the short rib was melting and dreamy. This is like a proper death bed meal. I felt so guilty and like a fat lush for consuming the whole thing (it's a big boy portion) but it was worth every morsel. None of my darkly lit photos will ever do this justice but just trust me. Anyway, I'm glad to have discovered this pub. The staff is really sweet and hard working and I think most of them are from Ireland. Will definitely be back. read more

Love Wolfe Tone's!! Came across this place on a business trip, as it was around the corner from my hotel. There were two gentlemen working (sadly I don't recall their names) and they were both so friendly and fun! I came a couple of times to watch the World Series and had a great time. What's most important to me a lot of the times when I'm going out is the service. The atmosphere of this place was great and lively, but the service was some of the worst I've had in the city. It took us a long time to be served, the waitress never checked back in with us and we had to call her over multiple times. I ordered one drink and she said she'd have to check if they had it and she brought me another drink without asking if it was ok. I also ordered food and it was never rung up so I never got it. Met up with a few friends on a Friday night at around 6:30. The place was almost empty. Not sure if that was a good sign, but none of us wanted to deal with the crowds in other similar midtown spots. Plus, it was happy hour until 7. I was trying to be semi-good, but I really didn't want another salad since I had been eating salads all week, so I went with the Falafel Wrap (hummus, red onion, cucumber, tomatoes, pickled cabbage). It comes with your choice of a side salad or french fries. I went with the salad, even though I REALLY wanted the fries. But I did steal a few (and by a few, I mean many) of the fries that came with the burger that my BF had ordered, which were great. The wrap wasn't bad but I wish it had more falafel in it. Just as important is the type of business this is. Close knit and cohesive. The two owners (Joe and Derek). Excellent human beings. Both genuine when you talk to them. They come up to you and check on you and I appreciate that. Ie I had an issue with billing when I was an early patron here. Derek helped me solve it without hesitation. My new fav bar! Stumbled upon this place on Friday and so glad I did. The food is amazing and fairly priced. They have a great happy hour, I believe 11-7 everyday. The bartender was friendly and attentive. Decor is nice. Very low key place.. a good crowd, but not packed. Clientele all seemed laid back. I noticed on the menu that they have a boozy brunch on the weekends - MY FAV! Best part is that it's only $25 for your meal + 2 hours of bloody marys, mimosas, screwdrivers or beers. Having stumbled across Wolfe Tones on a Trip Advisor search we had to visit just to see if it really did have the best pint of Guinness in NYC as one other reviewer claimed. Verdict: 100% perfection and a proper Pint size too!! It was the Guinness that got us through the door but it was the ambience and welcoming staff that kept us coming back 3 days in a row! Caolan (bar tender) is an absolute credit to the bar. His friendly and warm nature coupled with jokes and good craic makes for a great night, Jade and Kristen were super friendly too, always taking the time to chat and share local knowledge when not serving.
