The workers and owners think I'm stupid. They put Soo many flavors IN my drink and then said they had put to it on my receipt in order for the hazelnut to show up. BULL SHIT. There are seats, but the stools that were available at the time, were too high for my height, and the benches would take up the aisles so no one could walk. I am allergic to pumpkin syrup which they DID put in the drink, given that I had to use my emergency medication. Lied about it later. So glad a coffee shop opened up next door. read more

Stopped in randomly and was pleasantly surprised. The cashier and barista were very friendly and welcomed us upon entering. We put in our order and it was prepared within five minutes. I had a medium vanilla latte and a toasted butter croissant. Both were good. We sat at the high top window seating area directly across from the register. Went for the first time with a friend. The inside was cute! The menu had a lot of variety and the staff were patient and friendly. There was also a little cakes/macaroon area, but they have other sweet treats for sale. I got a iced coffee and my friend got a hot. Both were made really well and it was decently priced. Came to this establishment after church and was not disappointed. The banana bread looked dry which made it all the better when I tried it and it was anything but dry. This is a solid coffee place. Beans are roasted on the premises and assorted coffee types offered to the patrons along with breakfast type pasties and assorted cakes. The coffee I selected was a Guatemala bean. It was smooth and left no bitter after taste. Pastry was ok but smallish compared to what was charged which seems to be the norm nowadays. The place is small. It is very quaint but seating is limited unless sharing space with others which could be ok or could not. There are two picnic type tables next to each other and a front window bench area for 2 or 3 people. Parking is metered street. I found parking but it was a Sunday. Don't know how tough parking in E Rutherford is during weekdays. The owners were super nice to us. Very friendly and easily approachable should someone have questions. I will try and return since there seems to be a lot to choose from. read more

What a gem! Ara coffee is everything you want in a little coffee shop and more. My friend told me to come and try out their bubble tea and I am so glad I did! I decided on green tea flavor and it was to die for. Owned by a sweet Asian couple, she made it so diligently and with just the right amount of sugar. It's more the the slush tea rather than just liquid. Which is absolutely fine since that's my preference anyway. They offer a ton of coffee options and some baked goodies at the counter. The real star for me at this cafe is the bubble tea. It's so spot on! Not too sweet, rich and delicious. The boba is also very soft compared to others that I've had but still so good. Already planning my next trip to come here. Parking is also super easy, it's not the busiest street in Rutherford so finding a spot isn't too bad. read more

They also have other flavors like Taro,strawberry and mango. They also have a lot other pastries and bakery goods like croissants, cookies, breads. They also have coffees and teas. Best coffee to get near the Rutherford Train Station, and the owners are there before official opening at 7:00 AM and always starts making my coffee the minutes I walk in so as not to miss my train. I down want to count how many times a ran without paying hearing the train approaching, LOL. I am enjoying this place in Rutherford, light, and friendly atmosphere. There is a small place to sit but overall you'd feel cluttered and surrounded if you sat there. It's more of a pop in and grab a coffee or a bubble tea on-the-go. I will say I wish they had smaller sizes for the bubble tea. Their smallest is a 16oz cup and my kids can't handle all of it. To be honest, they struggled to finish 8oz when I split the drink at home for them. They are a bit pricey for the bubble tea but it tastes excellent and is perfect right now in Spring and incoming Summer. And again, it is 16oz... I hadn't noticed until the owner pointed it out to us recently but the a's in Ara are people in motion. It's a lovely logo. Their croissants and apple turnovers are delicious and so is the rugelach that they have. But again a bit pricey for each one. I'd give them a 5 if it wasn't for their pricing and it is not easy to find parking when I want to just grab a drink and go. If you are walking to and from the train, it's not a problem at all, as it is just a hop over from the station. I'd give them a 5 if they were using Jasmine tea in the bubble tea. I've never seen them use Jasmine Tea in my drinks. I see them use a powder from a container which I imagine is one of the many powder bubble tea manufacturers and they use milk and ice. I do like that they are using fresh boiled tapioca pearls, which they pour in from what looks like a little rice cooker by the coffee grinder. I have to try more of their coffees but I tend to make everything at home and I am focusing solely on their bubble tea at the moment. But at about $30 for 4 servings I might have to start making that at home too... read more

Their drip coffee is too syrupy for me (Ethiopian and a Guatemalan that tastes more like an African coffee). But the latte I got was actually extremely delicious. I don't know what beans they used (and the family member who was at the counter had difficulty answering the question about which espresso beans they were using) - but it was a perfect blend of bitter, smooth and sweet. This is a nice little coffee shop. Very nicely lit. They have nice big table in the center that you can sit and enjoy their delicious coffee. I had their cafe late with caramel. Deff enjoyed it. They sell coffee grounds, French Pressed and mugs as well. Now what I fell in love with is there banana bread! It was perfect! So moist that it stuck a little to the wrapping. This has been my go to cafe for the past 3 years. Locally, there are about 6 cafes within a 10 minute walk from me. This place is still far better with their coffe beans and roasts. Under new ownership, they continue the Ara traditions and still roast their beans in house. Their espresso is still top notch. Their drip coffee is what I usually get. It is always right on.
