Just picked up the family van from the Applegate Garage and couldn't be more satisfied. The staff are pleasant, the garage is easy to find, and I have had more than a few people mention to me they were a great shop. Upon picking up my car from repair the mechanic came out to show me the part they replaced and clearly explained to me what happened and why it happened in a way I could easily understand. The price I found to be fair and the service was beyond my expectations. I had both of my vehicles start to get issues the same day, so I booked an appointment at this location for the other one too. I will definitely be back in the years to come. read more

The Starter went out they where able to get it fix in a day and get my son back on the road! They were priced significantly lower then other places we called!! Good fast service and a reasonable price is not as common as it use to be!! This was a great find recommended by the AAA tow truck driver!! read more

Big time service in a small town. Zach and company at Applegate Garage are the real deal, the type of mechanic your dad talked about and took his car to ' back in the day'. Hard working, honest mechanics you can trust to give you a no BS assessment of whats wrong with your car. read more

I stopped in to make an appointment to fix an issue with the four wheel drive on my truck. Even though they were obviously busy, they took the time to check the problem with their scan tool and fixed the problem. Since I do most of the work on my vehicles myself, I don't need the services of a garage very often, but when I do I will take them to the Applegate Garage. read more

I'm in my sprinter having left from the coast and I'm now near Applegate. Got a warning light on hi oil content I needed to have a siphon through yelp we discovered the shop. Couldn't be more thrilled excellent service incredible knowledge really wonderful people. Didn't want to charge me a thing but I made them. I wish I lived around this repair place because then I'd have a wonderful place to take it to kudos to the shop. And we're on the road. read more

Thank you Applegate Garage! These guys are the best! I very much appreciated the prompt service and the information explained to me in a thorough manner. It was a pleasant surprise not to be talked down to because I'm female. I highly recommend this friendly, knowledgeable, and professional garage! read more

Zach and the rest of the team are fantastic at Applegate Garage! I was traveling up the hill, at just the beginning of my multi-state move. My truck overheated and I consider myself lucky it happened right around the corner from Applegate Garage. I checked the things I knew to check but wanted a second opinion, so I took it over to Applegate Garage to get looked at. I was from out of town and being charged an arm and a leg was something that I was definitely afraid of but I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. Zach checked it out himself and topped off my coolant with some water- No charge! It may sound silly to some but It really meant a lot to me. Later, when the radiator finally kicked the bucket (about 10 more miles down the road, heading up I-80) I was able to limp my truck back to Applegate, they checked that there weren't any bigger problems like a blown head gasket or something else and verified that it was the radiator. Despite wanting to give Applegate the reward for their work and be able to pay them something I was candidly told that they were so booked they wouldn't be able to get for a coupe of days. They could have easily told me "Oh yeah we'll get to it as soon as we can" and strung me along but they didn't. They were honest and valued my time as well as theirs so they got me going enough to get back to Sacramento to get to a shop. I still wish I lived closer so that I could have more repairs and services to be done so that I could support their business but unfortunately this is the best I can do- If you need a repair and you're in the area, go to Applegate, they'll treat you right. read more

5 star customer service. 5 star work. 5 star customer experience. I've never felt so good leaving an auto shop as I did leaving the Applegate Garage. Zach went through the entire invoice in detail - explaining everything they did, and things to consider in the future. Very honest business. Their consistent 5 star reviews are a reflection of their care for their customers. read more

This team is amazing. Hospitable. Fast. Honest. My Toyota Highlander broke down on highway 80, while I had my 2 small kids in the car with me. They literally pushed my car up their driveway, had an evaluation of the issue within about 20 minutes, had the part delivered within an hour and had me back on the road within 2. I would recommend them to anyone! I'm located in Truckee but would even think about making them my go-to shop! read more

I wish there was an option for more than 5 stars !!! We were on our way to our annual family camping trip when all of a sudden the motorhome wouldn't shift gears, the speedometer, the blinker and lights wouldn't work !!! We pulled off in Colfax and called 7 different places to see if anyone could help us! We told them we thought it was a fuse and just wanted to see if someone could hook it up real quick to check .... No one would help they were all to busy ... We called a friend from the area and he told us to go see Zack at Applegate Garage!!! He had 20 cars waiting to be worked on , he worked 13 hours the day before and he still said he would check the fuses real quick , if that wasn't the problem he couldn't work on it today but he would atleast take the five minutes to check the fuses !!! Low and behold the trailer had a short and caused a fuse to blow !!!! He changed it and we were on the road again !!!! Tried giving him a tip and wouldn't take it so thought I should let everyone know how awesome they are !!! This is a very special once a year camping trip with 25 of my family and without Zack and Applegate Garage , I would of have missed it for the first time in 15 years !!!! Words can't express the gratitude we feel !!! Thank you so much !!!! Darin, Desiree and Melody !!! read more

I am also an Applegate resident so may be a bit biased due to their convenience, but I have also tried many mechanics from Auburn to Roseville and find these guys are the best. They are always reasonably priced, often offering several repair alternatives with a price range, and give an honest diagnosis. To me being able to trust you are not being cheated or overcharged are the most important factors for mechanics - and I have that trust with this place. read more

We moved to Colfax 3 years ago and started asking around about a good auto repair place. Applegate kept being mentioned and now we know why! The tech there (Zack) is a really good trouble shooter and won't BS you about repairs that don't really need repair. We have two crown Vic's and a Ford pickup. You can drop off after hours as well. Five stars! read more

The mechanics here are honest, efficient, and friendly. I drive up from Auburn to have them take care of my car and it has always been more than worth it. read more

Took very good care of my old van. They're honest, nice and knowledgeable. I will never go anywhere else again .

Best mechanics in the area! Very honest! They go above and beyond to help you. I will recommend them to everyone I can. I was in a horrible situation with my car not passing smog. Thay gave me a very good and honest quote, lower than anywhere else. My car just passed smog and is running better than ever. I couldnt be happier! read more

Didn't catch the guys name that helped me out today but I was in a bind and in a rush. My truck shut down on the side of I80. I was limited to 25mph so I took the next exit and drove right down the road. Thankfully pulled into this place. The guy that helped me was at my truck with a code reader in no time at all, told me the problem, fixed it, and gave me advice to prevent it from happening again. This is quality service. I would drive out of my way to give these guys more business. Honest and knowlegdable. read more

Great people, great mechanics and fair prices. I trust Zach and his team to always have my car ready on time and the work done is solid. Thanks guys.. and girls! read more

Zach and Beau are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to my 4Runner. I've had issues that others were clearly taking advantage of my situation, charging me totally unreasonable prices and not taking time to explain their work. Zach and Beau both took time to explain what's going on, what needs to be done and saved me money! I only use Applegate Garage with my family's cars read more

Zach and staff was awesome. We pulled in with bad bearing on boat trailer and helped us out tremendously! They are a great...RECOMMEND 100%!!!! read more

Car died on 80.. dead alternator... called in and they ordered the parts before I even got towed in. Very friendly and knowledgable....

I found Zach and the other mechanics here to be very knowledgable, and Zach answered all of my questions thoroughly. He was very professional and I got the feeling he and the guys there were honest and trustworthy (as a single woman that is very important to me). They seem to be passionate about their work/business. I would definitely recommended them. read more

We were on our way to Tahoe when my car started heating up. Applegate was nearby so we decided to play it safe and to have it looked at. We were helped right away by Zachary, who took a look at it and explained to us what to do to a least get us there, at no charge at all! Definitely, helped us out and gave us some peace of mind read more

What a terrific group of professionals! And how refreshing to deal with people whose competency is only exceeded by their honesty. I brought my 2006 Dodge Ram in with some extremely puzzling coding and transmission issues that my previous mechanics were unable to repair. I had just about given up. A colleague at work suggested Applegate. Zach, a phenomenal young mechanic, tech saavy and smart, met me at the counter, and I was immediately impressed with his expertise. It was a very good omen. The vehicle was expertly repaired! And the cost was minimal. I would highly recommend Applegate Garage to anyone looking for competent, honest service. read more

Zach and his crew are top-notch. Very contentious and always make sure to do their best to get the job done right. We are very lucky to have them take care of our 4 older vehicles, (our 2 sons are in college and we have to squeeze as many miles as we can out of these cars). The best moment was when they fixed my Nissan about a year ago. I'm always looking for the least expensive way to go, so they used a rebuilt part. When the re-built part they used failed just a few months later, Zach insisted that "that repair should have lasted at least a year to 2 years minimum!" and then proceeded to fix it again free-of-charge, which included using a newer part. I did not ask for or expect him to do that. (And it was kinda cute how indignant he got, he really takes pride in getting it right.) I've had rebuilt parts from other mechanics fail before, but they certainly never took it personal and certainly never insisted on fixing it again for free. After that I told Zach he had a customer for life, (He already did, but that sealed the deal). If there's such thing as karma, they have a lot of good karma coming their way. read more

I stopped here on my way from SF to Tahoe in July when I suspected my car was overheating. These guys were great! They checked out my car immediately, confirmed that it was starting to overheat, told me exactly what to do as I drove over the Donner pass, and told me what to do once I got to Tahoe or back to the city. And they did not charge me a thing! They were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend them. read more

I'm in a touring band and we broke down in a HUGE RV in Applegate, CA. We were going to miss a show if they weren't able to fix a fuel pump problem we were having, but they understood the predicament were in, and got there best guys on the job! We were able to make it to our next show thanks to Applegate Garage! They're amazingly friendly, honest, and they just want to help you, not their wallets. I hope if we ever break down again, it's near Applegate Garage. read more

Your review Read our review guidelines Rating Woohoo! As good as it gets! My wife and myself were on our way from the Bay area to Tahoe in our 94 Ford Expedition (with our 45 lb. dog) when the transmission went out. We coasted into the Applegate Garage. Zach, the owner, had a full house of vehicles he was working on. He said he was booked solid for the next week. He called auto repair shops in both directions (east & west) along I80. We must have hit the busiest time of the year for repairs because every shop was booked out from 1 to 2 weeks. It was a hot September day and Zach and his employees went out of their way to provide us (and the dog) with cold drinks and a cool place to wait til we decided what to do. Long story short, our daughter picked us up that evening and Zach let us park our broken vehicle in his open field storage area (without charge) til we decided what to do with the Explorer. Our take on this whole episode: from observing his interaction with other customers and our own experience, our take was that we were extremely fortunate to have found Applegate Garage during our traveling mishap. A throw back to a time when people were hospitable and taking time to develop positive relationships with customers. Throughout this entire day and storing our vehicle in his lot for over 1 week, Zach refused to accept any money for his time or using his storage facility. He asked only that we write a "review". Thus, here we are. My first ever review, and I'm glad it's a positive one. Ron & Audrey S. read more

The only place I will trust my car with is Applegate garage! It's also the only place I will recommend to friends and neighbors. We've been coming here for years and the staff is kind, patient and honest. The owner Zach is a genuine kind hearted honest man who listens to your concerns and takes the time to put your fears at ease and answer any questions you have. The shop works hard to get you in and out as quick as possible and everyone is smiling and looks happy to be there working. I've sent friends, family and strangers to Applegate garage and I always hear back about the awesome job they did to help with car issues. Even a floor salesman who we were working with took his car there and he was so happy with the work they did to fix his car he called to thank me for referring him to them!
