:( Oh Applebees. We came here because we had a gift card and decided to try it out again. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 meals. The appetizers were actually ok, especially the spinach/artichoke dip, but oh man - the rest of the food was just bad. The macaroni and cheese with chicken tenders sounded great, but the bottom of my bowl was covered in oil? It was all wet and just gross. I didn't eat more than three bites. My husband's food was cold and bland. We are super disappointed, because we did have some great service and the place was nice and clean. :( read more

Oddly, I had never eaten at an Applebee's prior - I probably will refrain from ever doing so again (as harsh as that may sound). The atmosphere, ambiance, and environment, all equated to similar casual dining chain restaurants (i.e. Ruby Tuesday, T.G.I. Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, etc.). However, at this particular location, there were two very apparent differences that separated it from the aforementioned: 1. Food 2. Service I will begin with the food. I ordered a regular hamburger and fries, which were not appetizing at all and were both rather tasteless. In fact, it was probably the worst food (flavor-wise) that I have ever had at a restaurant that serves moderately priced food in a casual atmosphere. Now I will address the service (which coincides with number 1). The waitress (Hilary F.) was, well... to put it simply, rather rude. I did not see a "regular" hamburger anywhere on the menu (which is what I desired), and so I asked Hilary if one was available. Hilary's response: "You mean like without cheese?" Me: "Yes." Hilary: "Yeah, if that's how you want it (followed by a weird look on her face - as if no one would ever order a hamburger without cheese). Would you like it pink?" Me: Well, done please. Hilary: Is there anything else I can get you tonight? Me: May I ask what else comes on the burger? Hilary: (Sarcastic tone) Well, you asked for no cheese so what else would be on it? (Sarcastic chuckle and eyes to the side) Me: (Taken aback by such a response and thinking to myself, "What the? Is it just I, or was that rude? Hmmm.") Hilary: (Makes weird face) Well since you don't want cheese... Dinner Date: (Chiming in) What kind of sauce... ketchup, mustard, mayo? Me: (Clearing my throat and looking at Hilary) Ummm... do you realize who I am by chance? Recognize me at all? Hilary: You're Abe Froman? Me: That's right, I'm Abe Froman. Hilary: The Sausage King of Sacramento? Me: [caught off-guard]... Uh yeah, that's me. Hilary: Look, I'm very busy. Why don't you take the kids and go back to the clubhouse? Me: Are you suggesting that I'm not who I say I am? Hilary: I'm suggesting that you leave before I have to get snooty. Me: Snooty? Hilary: Snotty. Me: Snotty? (*Disclaimer: Okay, so that last part beginning with me clearing my throat was actually taken from the classic 80's film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and did not really happen... but hey, that is what it felt like being in Hilary's presence. Everything above that part did indeed play out exactly as conveyed) CONTINUED: Hilary goes on to say that she could bring the abovementioned on the side - she never did. I ate the burger dry, as she would literally ask if everything was okay and if we needed anything only while hurriedly walking past - and she only did ask if we needed something once (possibly twice) during the entire course of our meal. I am not certain what the problem was, but she seemed very confused, impolite, and unaccommodating. I could not figure it out, as I was just as kind and respectful as I always am to others. Though I had limited communication with the rest of the staff, the one or two that I did interact with seemed fine. Perhaps others may have a completely different experience than I did (I hope so), but I personally would not patronize this Applebee's location again and probably would not recommend it to anyone else. Its location is convenient; however there are plenty of other (i.e. better) options just a short drive away. read more

Came here with a group of 6 for my birthday. Service was horrible. I couldn't believe how spaced out the server was. The only thing she was good at was texting. Food sucked...and I mean SUCKED! Everything was way overcooked and so tasteless. Does anyone teach the kitchen staff how to season food? I mean, I'm sure it all comes pre-packaged and frozen, but you can even give that crap some flavor if you know how. OK folks I am TRULY an idiot. After writing my prior review and swearing never to go in here again- I did it. I went in. I was starving, it was there..........shame on me. This time- sat at the bar ordered two sodas and dinner. Got the soda's......and then waited......and waited ................and waited...........after watching seveal other customers come, order, eat and leave, the bartender finally looked up from the bus girls cleavage and Giants game and realized we had been forgotten about. He sends a busser into the kitchen looking for our soup and salad...........then he tells me "it's on its way" BS- order lost. Had the bartender noticed say 30 minutes earlier we had not been served perhaps the night would have been salvaged, but clearly this Applebee's is the worst managed, poorest producing piece of Sh#$ restaraunt in all of the North coast. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Shame on you Applebees corporate for allowing this disaster to oeprate like this. Super disappointed. I wanted something walking distance from my hotel. I tried the beef on potatoes, which said it was new. The onion rings on top weren't edible due to so much grease. The sauce covering most of the dish wasn't edible due to salt. So I gingerly picked out the meat (which was overlooked yet somehow cold, as were the tomatoes) and scooped off the gravy to get to the potatoes which much to surprise were nuclear hot and I burnt my mouth. The waitress didn't seem that it was strange that I didn't eat 80% of it. Aside from the food, the table was sticky and covered in grime. I don't think a thorough cleaning had been done recently. We're traveling through town, you would think Applebee's would be a safe choice... wrong! Walking in the door, we could see it wasn't too busy, and the wait staff was sitting down chatting. We stood and stared at them and still couldn't get service. Finally we just got our own menus and found a table for ourselves. After sitting for awhile a waiter finally came over to take our drink order...two glasses of water took a good 10 minutes for him to bring us. He was a little rude to us when we dared to make the suggestion that we order food. It took forever for our food to come out, and my order was not as I'd requested, not to mention the chicken was really undercooked. Anywhere else I would've sent it back, but didn't have high hopes for this place to improve my meal. TERRIBLE SERVICE Went to this place on a Friday night, first thing was the hostess says how glad she is there was only 4 of us coming. Next odd thing was our waiter told us how he was in break violation and was unsure who would help us. After quite a bit we finally give our order not before a group of 3 ladies comes in and is waited on by every waiter in the place 6 times. After about 30 minutes we get the first of our dinners and a salad. But we have no silverware. And even after asking the manager, it takes another 20 minutes for utensils. Heading south from Oregon we stopped here in Ukiah for the night and noticed this establishment was just down the street. It was the usual Applebee chain and was quite empty probably due to it was just after Thanksgiving. We were promptly seated and were approached by a seemingly not interested waitress who took our drink orders and upon returning took our orders. I had the sirloin steak ( asked for med. rare and it was medium) with red potatoes and my bride and I each had a house salad served on a warm plate. I ordered a salad. They screwed it up. A SALAD. How did they screw it up? My salad had ice-cold lettuce in it--as if it had just been pulled from the freezer. They screwed up my boyfriend's meal too. He ordered a roast beef sandwich au jus. They FORGOT the AU JUS. The dish had two ingredients and they forgot one of them. What! We were seated in the high tables by the bar which usually hurts my back but we were grateful to find out that our server was very friendly, helpful and attentive. His name was Chris. My fiance and I called ahead to see about their hours, and were told they would be open until 12. We walked in at 10:30, the door was unlocked, and people inside were being served. But the manager looked at us with a smile on her face and refused to serve us, saying they were closed. My group and I got there around 9pm and got seated. We never got silverware, had to ask after we received our food. Our waitress walked up and asked what we wanted to drink, no smile and didn't even tell us her name. We ordered our food and waited... 2 out of 3 of our appetizers came out about 15-20 minutes after we ordered and the 3rd came with our food. It took about 1 hour for our food to come and the lady that brought our food out was letting us know how "hectic" the kitchen was but the place was not busy what so ever; not to mention the food was mediocre at best. It's even more difficult to believe that being "hectic" was an issue because there were employees joking around with each other and dancing at the register. When drink refills were brought to our table, one of the drinks was being carried recklessly and ended up being splashed on someone in our group. When we received the check they didn't comp, or even offer to comp the appetizer that came with our food that we didn't get to eat. We personally had to ask for them to take it off. Side note I love the Applebee's where I'm from but I definitely won't be coming back to this one. Coming from a business that thrives off of customer service, I would give them zero stars if I could. P.s. I feel as though this Applebee's should be bulldozed and have an Arby's put in its place; and we all know Arby's is the a**hole of the fast food industry. By far the worst experience I've ever had here. We got there around 9:00pm, it too 15 min. To get someones attention, another 10 minutes to get a drink, which the Margarita tasted like sugar. Just ended 3 day camping trip with my family and entered on a quiet Sunday evening. I did a quick scan and saw several booths and requested to the host for one of them. She checked, returned, grabbed four menus and said 'how about a table?' while walking towards a table. I was dumbfounded! I asked her 'what about the booth?' and her reply was the service will be too slow in the booth. We sat down and ordered food but I just couldn't help to continue observing how there were six booths and the host only concentrated on getting the amount of tables filled evenly for the servers. Wow, what a horrible meal, service & all around experience! I ordered the veggie burger & the waitress asked me if I am a "vegan". I say, "no, just don't eat meat" Not a true "vegan". She brings me my veggie burger & to my surprise I find it with melted cheese with a lump under the cheese. I dig into the cheese with my knife & find a bunch of chopped up bacon under the melted cheese. I wait, and wait, and wait & finally a server comes by & I say, "hey, this VEGGIE patty has bacon all over it & she says to me, "well, I will take it to the kitchen & scrape it off". I just moved to Ukiah and was looking for dinner. This was honestly the only recognizable non "fast food" chain I found, even though I am not known to eat at such chains, it felt like a safe bet for a decent meal. So we pulled up, and it looked a little busy inside. My boyfriend went in to grab a curbside to go menu from the hostess. When he asked, she responded "here, I don't even care," and handed him a sit down menu to take. So then from the parking lot, we called in our order. We got the pick your own 3 appetizer plate, an the 2 for 20 meal deal. The girl on the phone was very pleasant, making up for the lack of kindness the hostess had shown. We then returned 25 minutes later, which they were on time with our food, and unlike others experiences, ours was accurate. The only weird thing was the girl delivering curbside was not in any sort of proper uniform, but instead a "play-dough" t-shirt. Overall, the food was fine. The towering steak quesadillas get a thumbs down because they look nothing like the picture, and the boneless buffalo wings were honestly better the next day, but everything else was good, and my steak was actually medium rare as I had asked. Minus one star for the lack in professionalism from the staff, and minus one for the misguiding photos in the menu. I will most likely dine here again, but to go, as the staff might piss me off if I sat in for a meal. read more

Went here last night. Took them about 10 mins to seat us. It wasn't terribly busy. Just when we were about to leave we got seated. The food was fine. It's Applebees so it's pretty much always the same. They've had worse cooks at this location. Service was very sloooow. Our waitress was very absent. She was nice and pleasant though. Just very no where. I have to say that there was a young man named "Austin" who was basically taking care of everyone all night. Like he was doing this waitresses job x2. All three times we ended up waiting in excess of 15 minutes before a server asked what we would like to drink. This was after waiting to be seated for five to ten minutes. Several empty tables were available. Witnessed wait staff standing around visiting with locals while others waited to be seated. The table we were given was still sticky.
