It's Applebees. What do you expect? The food is just ok at best. The service is generally friendly, but often rather inattentive. Prices are alright, but not great for what you get. But I'm not writing this review to encourage you to go grab dinner here. I'm writing it to tell you to check out Karaoke Night on Tuesdays (9pm-12am). Half price appetizers accompanied by an eclectic mix of live music (some better than others!) makes for a good time. This is the only reason I go. I was tempted to give this review more stars for the Karaoke, but can't justify giving Applebees more than 3! In fact, without Karaoke, Applebees would get 1-2 stars at most from me. We went to this Applebees location last Saturday (11/10/2012) at about 6:15 pm and our wait was about 15 minutes which isn't bad for a Saturday night in Orem. Our waitress was nice but apparently forgetful. After a short wait the other two people in my party received their food but I did not. It took a while but the waitress eventually admitted she had forgotten my order. The trusty pencil and pad of paper come in handy in avoiding those situations, but that's neither here nor there. Also, we had not received silverware or napkins and after a few reminders she brought them out. Our waitress shared with us that she had been at work since 10:00 am. She was pushing 9 hours at work which is a long time for a server. She ended up giving me a free dessert, which was very nice of her. In general, we were satisfied with our food. It tasted good and it was hot. Our waitress made mistakes, but like her, I'm not perfect. She had a long day which made it understandable to me. I've been there too. Though she didn't have to, she comped my dessert, a gesture I appreciated. So, to show her I wasn't dissatisfied I left her a nice tip. Considering the time we waited, the quality of the food and service, the price we paid, and the way they handled the mistakes I'll throw down 4 stars. read more

We've had some great meals here over the years. Today we went there after being gone for a year. It appeared to me that the place was going out of business. They were not busy at all at lunch time yet it took a long time to get our food. It did not even resemble the quality of meal we got there in years gone by. Everything was out of sync. from the workers to the food. I expect the place to be boarded up the next time we are in the area. I feel bad for those who will loose their jobs. read more

We received a $25 gift certificate to Applebee's and ended up here as it is relatively near our home. We opted for the much advertised "2 for $20" deal that ended up being $24.79 after upgrading the ribblet basket to a platter and tax. My wife opted for the New Orleans chicken and shrimp. As our appetizer we chose the Spicy Queso Blanco. Our starter came quite quickly and was as good as could be expected for a processed cheese product. However the problems started with the entrees. The chicken was very dry and over done and the accompanying potatoes were not at all seasoned while the mushrooms had been cooked into oblivion. My ribblet platter looked very forlornly sitting all alone in the big plate with a handful of weak looking fries. The ribblets while tasting alright were very under sauced. The fries were again bland and lacking of any flavor. We only had one major issue with the service when our water was refilled with warm tap water, not simply not cooled water but warm enough to melt any remaining ice on contact. Overall we were very underwhelmed and have been reinforced in our decision to avoid this chain. read more

My husband & I received a gift certificate to Applebees for Christmas, so we gave it a try for dinner last night (despite the fact that we've eaten here a couple times in the past & swore we'd never go back) The evening didn't start off too bad, we were quickly seated & it only took the waitress about 10 minutes to greet us with an "I'll be with you in a minute" Once we placed our order & got our drinks, we continued to wait about 30 minutes for our food. (which is understandable, we did order a salad & burger (Obviously, the 2 most labor intensive meals to prepare..) We were STARVING by the time we got our food, so you'd think it would have been insanely delicious, but no, it was gross. I'm pretty sure that the burger & fries sat under the heat lamp for 20 of the 30 minutes, or maybe their fries are always that stale? We were reminded again, why we don't eat at Applebees. Chilis is right down the street. Their menu is almost identical, but the food & service is wayyy better. read more

I understand that it was busy, but it should be first come first serve, not serve small parties first and then wait an hour and a half to serve a larger party. Normally, I don't bother reviewing places like this. Applebee's, Chili's, TGI Fridays, etc. Really, what's the point? You go here for convenience, not a gourmet meal. I probably wouldn't be here but it's not like there are a lot of options in the area for dinner and a beer at 11 pm. HOWEVER, I would have expected just a hair more. I sat at the bar and finally needed to wave someone down to take a drink order. I've been here about 45 minutes and the dirty plates are still sitting next to and across from me. I was a regular here back when I was a student a few years back. Management was amazingly awesome when John was still around, and anyone who used to come here back around 2010-2013 knows what I mean. He is the funny black guy who managed the store. Now that he's been gone, the whole environment here changed. Staff is not happy like they used to be, karaoke night, which was always a packed house, can barely draw a crowd, and even the food seems less happy to be served than before. I still go here from time to time when I'm in the area visiting friends and we want a place where everyone can order something, but it's just not the same anymore. The bacon was the pre cooked see through variety or it would have been rare also. I grabbed the waitress and said this is not acceptable. She took them and said new ones would be made. Close to 20 minutes later she comes out with new burgers on our old plates with our fries... witch had actually warmed up to near room temperature.. Ok. Take a small test bite. And it was like biting a cow. This bigger was cold. It was brown on the outside but blood red inside. And cold. Cold bloody burgers.... I stopped her again and asked what they called this? She said they had a new cook and he was learning. Nope. I said you should get a manager to my table now. The same manager that brought us waters came over and asked what my problem was. Just like that. I said 1 service sucks 2 my burger is still alive. Twice. And my fries are still frozen. I expect to have these items removed from my bill. He flipped. Out. FtFO! Instead my breadstick was microwaved so when I got it, it was rock hard and the pasta I had also tasted like it had been sitting in a warmer for too long, mushy vegetables,yuck! Wait times are not long to get in because they have no customers. My first time I went my appetizers were served cold instead of hot like they should have and my burger and fries was burnt. What a great experience! My wife and I decided to go during the afternoon when it was not to busy. With that in mind our seating was prompt and simple. Our waiter Brian did a good job and was attentive and made sure our waters were full and orders done right. Both my wife and I got 8oz steaks a medium well and medium rare. They got the order to perfection! Not to mention the desert was also done well! By far the worst restaurant meal service and price in a long time. One of our meals was little more than meat chunks on a pile of mashed potatoes and buried in absolutely burnt onion strings. I logged a complaint to the waitstaff who said that they would prepare some new onions and told the server and the supervisor. Never got any new onions nor any refills for the drinks we had asked for. Our food was cold because we didnt get any silverware so we couldnt even eat it and had to ask several times for the silverware. Bad...bad...bad. I ordered a burger loaded without cheese add mustard and ketchup. It came with fries and I ordered a side of onion rings. I got a cheese burger, no matchup or mustard and no fries. I did get 7 onion rings. The bun was dry and crumbly. The meat was very dry. The onion rings were crispy but small. Never again. Burger King does it better read more
