The chicken parm fettuccine and honey bourbon Mac were definitely like gloopy prepackaged pasta similar to Panera but had a strange aftertaste and texture. The breadstick carried LOL. My brother and I went to this Applebee's on Wednesday night, 5/22/24. We approached the door, which is a new entrance being used while the front door is being remodeled which it has been for several months now. We walked inside past a cash register with a waitress struggling to get a customer cashed out who was using their phone to pay. Apparently the system wasn't working. More customers joined the line trying to check out and leave. We walked inside and headed for a vacant booth, but the bartender ran out and stopped us, herding us back towards the end of the line at the door and ordering us to wait to be seated. Thus began a good 15 minutes of standing pointlessly and waiting while this poor cashier was trying to get this customer with the phone checked out. The bartender enjoyed chatting with her customers at the bar while ignoring the mess getting worse at the exit door. The overwhelmed cashier finally went into the back to get somebody to help her with the phone person. The line just kept getting longer. The bartender stayed at the bar chatting with her customers and talking about the game on tv. Finally the cashier comes back out with another female employee to help her. Several more minutes elapsed. The bartender finally came over to where we were standing, grabbed a couple of menus and a couple of silverware setups, barked at us to follow her and she took us over to the same booth we were going to sit at before. She seated us, and then turned around and walked away back to the bar, never asking us if we wanted anything to drink. We sat there for another 15 minutes while this poor cashier was still struggling with the customer with the phone and the line at the door kept getting longer. Nobody came over to us to ask us for an order. Behind my brother was a family with a couple of young children, one of whom looked to be about 3 years of age. This child and his mother were sitting directly behind my brother, and the child was banging a heavy, full glass salt shaker on the wooden back of the booth right behind my brother's head. The mother just kept chatting with the other adult on the other side of the booth, ignoring the situation. Between the banging salt shaker and the overall ambient noise and what passes for music pouring out of the speakers in the ceiling, we couldn't even hear one another speak. Just before I was about to ask my brother if we should just leave, the little kid takes the salt shaker and hurls it at my brother's head just missing it. Where it landed was directly on a spot that no man wants somebody to throw anything. My normally soft-spoken brother exploded out of the booth in reaction to the shock and pain while the little kid stood there and bounced up and down and laughed. The mother just kept ignoring the situation. We gave up and got up and left.. The bartender, standing no more than 5 ft away behind the bar, saw this entire thing go down and never said a word. When my brother said something to her on our way out the door, she shrugged and said (verbatim) "not my problem, dude. It ain't my kid." and turned back to a customer at the bar. We went back out to our car, and ended up just going to Jack In The Box for dinner and then going home. We tried to give Applebee's a chance after a bad experience we had there a number of years ago. Not only is it not better, it's completely worse and the staff absolutely 100% doesn't care at all. That restaurant is like their party spot. I forgot to mention the two guys at the bar who looked like they were in the middle of a wild ride on meth. One of them looked like he hadn't eaten in months, skinny as a rail twitching and shaking with his eyes bugging out of his head and looking all around him as if he was afraid someone was going to jump him. His buddy was wearing a long neon red woman's wig and an assortment of odd clothing that looked like it came out of a dumpster. Same deal. Buggy eyes, twitching, and looking all around. This bartender seem to have no problem serving these two, along with the other assortment of characters at the bar, although nobody else seem to be on or withdrawing from drugs like these two guys were. We're done. And we go out to eat fairly often, but we're never going through this again. We will sit home and cook, or drive up to Santa Maria before we ever go through this again. I wouldn't recommend anybody ever set foot in this place at any time, but especially not at night because clearly there's no Management on duty and everybody just does whatever they want. And if you're not one of their friends, they're not going to wait on you or help you at all. It was very clear that we did not belong to the correct demographic there that night. And while I'm at it, the bathrooms in that place are absolutely disgusting. read more

OK, I didn't expect much... I admit it. Basically I came in trying to order something it wasn't going to make me feel sick. I was very pleasantly surprised. In places like Applebee's and Chili's I tend to end up with fried food that makes me feel sick when I leave. I ordered a dish called bourbon street shrimp and chicken and my dad ordered the riblet platter. We were both very happy with our meals. It was served hot and fresh. Our server was incredibly attentive. No, it wasn't a five-star dining establishment, but everything tasted good and was served to temperature. If I had one complaint is that the potatoes were a little bland but there was a garlic butter sauce on my shrimp and chicken that you could mix in with the potatoes which made the potatoes taste just fine. Our waiter checked in with us numerous times and was very pleasant. Actually, the customer service overall was exceptional. Yeah, it was a little pricey for the food you get compared to other finer dining establishments. I understand the negative complaints, and I was worried about it coming in, but if everybody had an experience like we did their rating would be much higher. read more

Long story short i ordered a Ribeye steak and ordered it medium rare. the steak was unevenly cooked. i drove to my hotel and called them to get it fixed. took about 15 minutes for someone to answer the phone than got placed on hold for 5 minutes. finally spoke with the manager and she was nice about it and replaced it. read more

I don't like posting poor reviews but this is not the first time being disappointed at this particular restaurant. I did bring the last time up to corporate and got a response from the restaurant's management. I had been there a few times since and found (at least on those visits) to be acceptable. But this past time was pretty bad from entering the place. When I arrived with a friend for dinner there were 5 high top tables within eyesight that were vacant in the bar area. My preferred seating area. I asked if we could be seated there and was told it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait but we could be seated in the dining room. Evidently they did not have the wait staff to service the bar area although there were booths in the bar that had folks eating. Ok, well we took a booth that was close to the host station. The server was good. He seemed to take our drink order and food order. When the food came the vegetable was hot, the steak luke-warm and the mashed potatoes ice cold. This was the Ribeye steak dinner, one of the more expensive menu items. So they brought out some more mashed potatoes to replace the cold serving and guess what, it to was ICE cold like it came out of the fridge. When I brought this to our server's attention he said he would have the manager come to sort things out. Never did the manager come by . Sadly, I encouraged my buddy to try the Ribeye Steak Dinner here as I have had it several times without any problems. We spent over $100 for this dinner and realistically would have had a better experience if I just cooked at home. Unfortunately, this was not just a "one-off" experience. My wife and I had dinner the next night in Santa Maria at Cool Hand Lukes before attending a concert in AG and dinner there was spot on. I really hope someone at Applebee's sees this and makes the needed changes to get his establishment running the way it should be. Sunday night at 6pm and the staff has lost complete control of the restaurant to an embarrassing level. Lived here for a while and always avoided this place, this is why. Customers were told that the kitchen had fallen behind and that no one would be seated until caught up. Entire front of restaurant stuffed with people waiting, all told 10-15 mins. Staff openly mocking customers waiting and being rude when asked why open tables were unavailable. Huge loss of revenue for who ever is running this failing chain. read more

We came here for our 20th wedding anniversary. We couldn't decide where to eat, but since Applebee's offers variety on their menu. we chose them. There was a wait for a table so we asked to sit at the bar. We were able to order full service. We were so impressed by the selection of food and then I turned to the back page. They had a deal, $30 for 1 appetizer and 2 meals. We ordered this and the food was delicious. Great price and the service was good too! We would return next time we are in Lompoc. read more

This Applebee's just sucks. The service is perfectly fine, every server I have had has been friendly, efficient, attentive. They're the only reason this review isn't a one star. But I just can't get over how bad the food always is. And I'm not picky when it comes to chain restaurants, I know what to expect. It's faaaaaaar from gourmet. And while Applebee's isn't "expensive" by any means, for the product you get, it's just not worth it and makes it FEEL expensive. Like, after I eat I'm so unsatisfied with the food that I can't believe they charge what they charge. It just doesn't taste good, I've never ordered anything and been like mmmm I gotta come back and have this again. And usually the food comes out cold to like warm. Even the happy hour sucks. Yeah it's half off a few apps but they also cut the portions so is that really a deal? Anyway, if you have to go here, I'd recommend just sitting at the bar and ordering some drinks. Food always comes out quickly and as-ordered. No mistakes from the kitchen or messy dishes. But above all, the service is great! Going out with kids can be so stressful and we've requested Gigi because she's so kind and patient and just fun to talk to. We're new to town and hadn't been to an Applebee's in maybe a decade. Had a waitress named Jackie very excellent service. I usually eat very late 9 -- 11:pm. Not many places in Lompoc serve that late if any, besides Applebee's. I'm pretty sure Applebee's serves and has a cook working until 11 to 12 every night that's good to know for later eaters. I've had several steaks there that were terrible. But lo and behold they must have a new cook, or a new supplier for their meat because I had an excellent steak dinner the other night with al dente, broccoli, very fresh very good, and steak was very good also which was a very which was a nice surprise. They have a special they're running now for shrimp serve to different ways for a dollar got out of there for $19 $11 tip $30. Can't hardly eat fast food for that anyway it was a good experience actually a great experience good food not crowded. As an ex local I return to Lompoc from time to time and this time instead of one of my usual stops I came to Applebees. I lasted about six minutes. I have to small trained poodle mix dogs. I entered the waiting area, pointed to the bench. Both dogs promptly sat on the bench. I told the hostess that the dogs were well trained and will stay. She said that was fine. I sat nearby in a booth at the bar she brought a menu, I ordered a soda and was about to order my meal when the another person who did not introduce herself (I assume was the manager) asked if they were my dogs I told her yes. She told me if they are service animals they have to be under the table. I told her they were not service animals but 100% socialized and trained to stay where they are. She said they would have to be leashed up outside the building. So Applebees (at least this one) is definitely anti dog. I know I sound like one of those dog loving over the top owners. But we have trained them extremely well and although they are not service dogs. I would venture. Had I lied and said yes. She would hav e been fine with that. The crazy part was the entire place had three tables occupied so its not like they couldn't use the business. Or maybe the Tuesday crew is simply the B team. Ok so let's start off as a "chain" my expectations start off low while Applebee's sits in the top half of the chain restaurants it's still a chain..... WOW totally impressed (been a few years since I've been to an Applebee's) my wife and I ordered and both steaks were cooked to PERFECTION!!! (Mid rare) the meal was great! The appetizers were OFF THE HOOK (pretzel with beer cheese and artichoke dip with chips) our server was attentive engaging friendly and helpful! I order take out here quite often because my son loves their desserts, and my dog and I love their spinach dip. I really haven't had any issue with them until lately. I noticed that the serving portions were getting smaller. Even my son noticed - and he would because he has ASD and eats the same food over and over. I recently ordered their loaded fajitas because it looked so appealing on TV. I was surprised when my order was delivered. What was supposed to be loaded definitely wasn't. A couple strips of bell pepper, 6 shrimps and about 3 tbsps of rice - for $15! I don't know if this is a "marketing strategy " to retain their affordability, but still..... Outside of this, my son and I love Applebees. They offer a wide range of dishes , and when we do get to eat in the restaurant, the staff is always friendly. read more

If you're looking for a cheap spot for Happy Hour, or a place to watch a game and get some drinks, this place will do. Happy Hour specials are pretty decent however I'd recommend just grab a beer here, or a shot if you're having that kind of a night. You should probably pass on the $1 vodka drinks or margaritas because you'll be getting exactly what you pay for, mainly a watered down drink and with lots of ice. The appetizers aren't bad, but the main entrees are hit and miss. I came in tonight and got seated probably quicker than I ever have here before. May have helped that it was a Monday night. Our waitress was however very much on top of it. Food and drinks came out fairly quick. Was definitely pleased with her service. The food was okay.
