The happy hour prices seemed really great, although my non-alcoholic beer choice was not included. Our bartender was friendly and prompt, bringing us water with a smile. One thing I really loved is the bilingual atmosphere; a lot of folks were speaking Spanish and English, and the music was a cool mix of Country, Corridos, and Selena. Overall, a pretty good dive bar atmosphere with free parking in the front. (We did notice they have a shuttle, hopefully to cut down on those dangerous DUI's). Also loved the misting system out in front to keep you cool. Good stop for a drink before dinner.

Until this visit, I've always had a positive impression. Last night, our group purchased drinks from the Sideways Lounge and sat in the outdoor fireplace area. One member of our group was smoking when an employee approached us and rudely told us smoking wasn't allowed there. That wasn't the issue--we would have gladly complied if the policy had simply been explained respectfully. Instead, we were interrupted multiple times while trying to ask why there were no signs indicating the rule. The employee repeatedly responded, "Well, I'm telling you now." He then told us to go outside the fenced lounge area--even into the parking lot--to smoke, despite posted signs stating that alcohol cannot leave the lounge area. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and inconsistent. Businesses absolutely have the right to enforce their policies. Customers should also expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, this one interaction overshadowed an otherwise enjoyable trip. After years of staying here and recommending the property to others, I no longer plan to return or recommend Sideways Inn for future golf and wine weekends. I sincerely hope management addresses the customer service issues that led to this experience.

WARNING--DONT GO THERE!! Went in one Monday for a ladies night in a group and we were repeatedly harassed and insulted by a creepy bouncer Brian Smith who would not leave us alone. Brian kept grabbing and harassing everyone at the table. we asked him to please leave us alone and go to another table. he told us he could do what ever he wanted the boss was out of town. shortly after we got kicked out for defending ourselves. long story short ruffies were involved and we almost got killed in an accident. we called the bar the next day, informed them via social media and even wrote letters to let the owner know. we got no apologies and the rude bouncer still worked there. what a disappointment. I went in months later to pick up a friend and I was told I was banned by a disgruntle employee, not by a manager or an owner. I have spent hundreds buying rounds for the whole bar at this place and they treat me like that. I have never delta with such trash before. The professional thing to do would of been to have a competent manager or owner on board to get rid of problems and apologize and compensate the customers that were wronged. However regulars at this bar joke and act like getting ruffied is the normal thing to do. Some of the customers cover their drinks to avoid getting drugged. I have never seen such careless behavior towards other people. it has been going on so long there people have accepted it and act like its the normal thing to do. How pathetic. Some of the employees @Jaspers act like a bunch of fugly entitled children with no adult supervision or any clue about customer satisfaction or what it takes to run a business professionally. This review applies to both the Oliviera's family (who also owns Oliviera's Restoration & Flooring) as well as Gary and Wesley Cox. California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC): Reported for facilitating underage drinking and violating mandatory alcohol server certification requirements. County Environmental Health Department: Reported for critical health code violations, specifically regarding poor sanitation and a lack of proper equipment disinfection. California Labor Commissioner's Office: Reported for unlawful wage theft and intentionally withholding employee paychecks. I was in there about a month ago and witnessed one of your bouncers Brian Smith being very rude and totally out of line with some nice young beautiful ladies just sitting minding their own business having drinks. First, I thought it odd that an employee was drinking on the job, especially out of a pitcher. Mr.. Smith kept coming over to their table and calling these ladies ugly and saying all kinds of rude inappropriate things. Then the ladies asked him to leave them alone and Mr. Smith would not leave them alone. He kept going to their table groping and touching the ladies inappropriately, you could tell the ladies did not like this guy at all. After the women all had refused him he had the nerve to have them all tossed out like he owned the place. From what I saw Mr. Smith should not even work there or ever be let back in that bar ever again. If I was the owner and I found out one of my employees acted like that, he would be fired. read more

Wow , 1st time there. New to the area. No one there, former Bass player for famous Heavy Metal band. Didn't want anyone to recocnize me which they did not, thank God. So I order a Turk 101 & Coke. Not a Clue. No Wild Turkey, never heard of WT. These 2 stupid arrogant asshole bartenders gave me the biggest Fucking attitude, especially the tall long haired bruenet. That being said, I would never recommend this shithole ever. Plus all the moron security stands out front talking shit of everybody & smoking. I have a new recording studio on my ranch, needed a local watering hole. Pissed, just wanted some place local to hang, unfortunately , this won't be it. Jasper's re-opened April 21st of 2015 under new ownership and management. Jasper's has been a staple of the Lompoc community for decades and has been established since 1933. Many additions have been added to the bar under the new ownership including: New flooring, re-modeled bathrooms, brand new patio that guests can drink and smoke on, brand new bar including a 20 tap draft beer system, seven 50 inch flat screens, more open feel by removal of unnecessary walls and a brand new amazing staff. First of all it's a dive bar! If you're rolling in thinking it's ladies night ... They have nude pictures on the wall! Okay. If you can get passed all of that dive bars are perfect to visit, for me at least , any time other than Friday night or Saturday night. If I'm itching for a good low priced bloody for breakfast they open at 8 AM ;) The bartenders know how to poor. I rarely stay more than a hour and half. It's my personal dive bar rule. Horrible bar they don't care to make you feel welcome, because of the bouncers saying we weren't aloud in and my ride wasn't coming till 2 I had to walk home and get arrested. They told me I wasn't aloud back in for no reason I asked why and they shrugged their shoulders. HORRIBLE PEOPLE HORRIBLE PLACE EXPENSIVE AND NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. If I could give this bar 0 stars I would. Not only was the bar owner (Wes) unprofessional and rude to me, he refused to allow my service dog in. I will be taking this to court as it is completely illegal to refuse entry to a service animal and his exact words were "I can't allow your service dog in here. It's a liability and i hope you don't try to make a fuss about this"... he clearly needs to read the ADA laws... read more

After about ten minutes a guy who had been sitting in a truck nearby finally came up to open the place but by then I was already back on the bike and about to head out. If the management doesnt care enough to bother to open on time, I dont trust that they keep the draft lines clean or actually run a decent place. This sort of attitude tends to be endemic and pervades all other aspects of the bar. We have enough ghetto bars in Lompoc as is, so I'll just stick to my normal haunts I guess
