WOW, has this facility gone downhill. In the past few years, the service has gotten snarkier and the food has gotten saltier. When my boyfriend and I decided to grab a quick lunch here a few months ago, we were NOT expected to be to be mocked by our waitress for holding hands across the table. Excuse me, we're in love. It is a chain restaurant. With that being said, the food has been really good and the service has been attentive and friendly (at the bar). I have been here three times so far and have had no bad experiences. If you are looking for a chain restaurant in the Montpelier area, this seems to be a good spot. read more

Sliders: The gist of it will be that the Sliders (shhh, you have to whisper that word as it is said on the show Sliders in the title sequence) don't slide. They are small balls of tasteless meat. They should be called "Small Balls of Meat" and not Sliders but the P.R. folks at Applebees took a page from the U.S. Congress in ironic branding (as in the PATRIOT Act (let's call it something that it's not to convince people it is the thing we named it (cue the Shakespeare," What's in a Name?", right?))). There should be three parentheses needed for that last sentence, is that right? Are you following? Quinn from Sliders would be pissed at these Sliders. Wasn't that the genesis of the show? That the boy genius invents an quantum slip stream so he can visit parallel worlds where the Applebees Sliders actually slide down your throat and are incredibly tasty? Service was absolutely wonderful. Friendly helpful staff, coming from some one in the restaurant business I was impressed with my waitress. The food was what apple bees is expected to be. Mozzarella sticks were bomb of course. Being a vegetarian and trying to find somewhere local to eat that has options late at night is difficult. Our waitress Heather was very helpful in helping me choose something other than just a salad. Quesadilla burger with a veggie burger substitute. Two of my favorite things. read more

This place was amazing. We were seated quickly, the staff was fun and attentive, and the food tasted great. We ordered an appetizer, a few different drinks, and a meal. All the food came out pretty quickly and I loved that you could go to the bar and see your drink being made. It wasn't too busy when we got there and we ended up getting a very good table. It was a little hard to choose on the menu because it seemed everything was described as being spicy. Most people enjoy spicy food, so I can't hold that against them, but it would be nice to also have a variety of options that didn't have pico as one of the broadcasted ingredients. read more

I have not recently been to this establishment, but I have ended up here a few times, simply because they are the ONLY place open after 9 in central VT. If you are getting off the interstate and are starving to death, maybe you could eat here, but I would recommend the gas station food next door. The last two times I went, the service was beyond substandard and the food was atrocious. We ordered a spinach dip with chips, and it appeared that they used the last bits of a smashed bag of tortilla chips to serve with it. Not one chip was whole, I was shocked that the server even brought it out. Our last waitress had maybe two tables, but still had to have a pregnant "hostess" bring out our luke warm dinner and we had to request that our table and glasses get cleared. as they were just piling up. I do give 5 stars to the "food stylists" that really work their magic with the TV ads. read more

My family has been to this restaurant several times and it has been nothing but poor service and awful food. The staff is completely lacking customer service skills and the kitchen staff must be leftovers from Worst Cooks in America. We had one server that all but forgot about us. Food not cooked properly, I think my burger was still begging to be finished off, I mean that's only humane. When we asked to have things fixed we were met with an attitude. As a "family restaurant" you should probably make sure to have some vegetarian options on your menu. As a family with several vegetarians this is not even an option. I also understand that with the e-Coli outbreak you don't have romaine lettuce. HOWEVER there are alternative types of lettuce that were not affected by the outbreak that you could use. Having zero of your salads available on the menu is ridiculous. Very disappointed and probably not returning. This makes me sad as I have always enjoyed the food here read more

It's pretty standard here folks. Our server was good, food was good. We didn't do fancy beverages or dessert. Be aware, monday nights are 5.99 burger night so they can be a bit busy. However, once the food came it was good. Mother liked the bacon cheeseburger, other family consumed the oriental chicken salad, and the honey pepper sirloin. All good in the 'hood. read more

Just awful. They deliver to the hotel next door and I was tired from traveling. What a mistake. There are NO vegetarian options! Do they not know that many people are not meat eaters? I had a couple apps--artichoke dip and mozzarella sticks and they were gross. Never again. read more

My experience was not a great one. The onion soup tasted good but was warm not hot enough to melt the cheese. I ordered a sirloin steak medium well with garlic mashed potato and vegetables. The steak was rare the potatoes and vegetables were cold. The waitress took it back and the steak was medium, and the vegetables and mash potatoes were hot. One problem the vegetables were unevenly cooked. Most were hard. Desserts were ok. The waitress Mack was very kind and polite and she came back to check on us many times. read more

I took my wife and kids here for dinner and waited over 30 minutes for drinks, they got half our order wrong. The waitress acknowledged the mistake and had it fixed, but by the time I got the right food the rest of my family were done eating. I was a visiter sitting next to regulars and can't complain about a single part of the service. The food was good. A little salty for my taste but it was mostly on the outside of the potatoes. Have been here multiple times with my family. While certain dishes are ok, it is easy to tell that others were haphazardly thrown in a dish and heated up in presumably a microwave. Service is hit or miss. Some days food has been out immediately, and has been in respectable quality, while others it has taken over 45 minutes. Several times we were charged for food we didn't order, a few hairs have been found, and once we received a bowl of mac and cheese that was thrown into a bowl and never heated up in whatever microwave or toaster oven they have back there. It was as cold as the second it came out of the freezer or refrigerator. Overall, it's what you would expect from a chain where expectations were never high to begin with. If you are willing to wait a while for fairly priced and average quality pub food and drink, this establishment may be for you. read more

As my friends live nearby, we often visit this establishment for the half price appetizers. Most times its pretty standard for Applebees. This time was a bit different. 1/2 empty restraunt + CJ our waiter being incompetent= lack of training and a long wait time for mediocre food. We came here as a quick stop with my family. It took 45 minutes to get our food after ordering. We had ordered a few appetizers to share, my son ordered the burger and fries, our toddler had the mac and cheese. Everything was just ok. The dishes were not cleaned well. My son had a fly in his drink so we sent that back. Appetizers actually look like they had been sitting out for a while. Service was terrible. They forgot one of our entrees. And the ones that we received were nothing like the ones pictured. We were unable to communicate with the manager, and did not receive any sort of repayment. Restaurant had no silverware - food was coming out to several tables with no silverware to eat it with. We got appetizers and I asked the hostess for silverware and she told me "I don't have any". Made zero effort to find some. I then asked my waiter who told me "You have an appetizer, do you need it?" What kind of waiter questions the guests like that? If I want silverware at a damned RESTAURANT I should get it. Pretty basic. Eventually the manager came out apologizing profusely about being "very busy". What restaurant is so busy they run out of silverware? Buy some extras. read more

They claim "Wood Fired, Hand Cut, Never Frozen Steaks" I call BS I do not think I have ever received a worse steak except for the last time I attempted to eat a Applebee's in Burlington VT. We go here frequently, it's nice to get a meal under 600 calories, the southwest soup is my favorite, very tasty, lots of vegetables. I know people are surprised when we ask to share a brownie bite for dessert, it's only a dollar, and it's one of our top three deserts. They have some good salads which have been pretty consistent except for the fact that celery can be a hit or miss for the amount. Our wait staff has been generally pretty good, sometimes we have to wait a bit, but never anything too drastic. Once I had to send the fries back as they were not the hottest, but we were promptly treated to some new ones. Ribs are generally pretty good. Often there is a line to get in but it generally doesn't mean more than a twenty minute wait. read more

Not ur local business restaurant but the employees were local and awesome and the Food was good.

I used to love going to Applebee's, but recently the waiters have been doing horrible jobs. I went and ate there twice in the last two weeks (had different waitresses both times) whenever we were done with an appetizer or got a refill on drinks they would leave the empty plates and empty glasses on the table. We had 9 glasses on the table and the waitress wouldn't take them away, that was very irritating to me since I wasn't even able to put my to go box on the table to pack my food up. The waiters barely check on you, The only time I saw my waitress was when she was walking past the table to bring food to someone else. And occasionally she'd ask if the food was okay, other than that we'd have to stop her from walking past us if we needed something, which she didn't seem to happy about when we needed something. The service just isn't good and the food is okay, definitely not my first go to for food. read more

I like this Applebee's. They have a tasty selection and excellent low calorie meals (but stay away from the appetizers if that's your concern). - and they usually make a decent drink. A bit on the loud side and I'm glad they finally stopped asking me if I would like a high table (no, I would not). read more
