Good food in a wonderful place. Service was friendly. IMO the best breakfast in Bristol.

Been sitting at a dirty table for almost 30 minutes and yet to even be acknowledged or get menus. 4 other tables trying to pay and leave. Both Servers are sitting down with customers and chatting. Customers standing at the door not knowing what to do. Beyond unacceptable. Would give 0 stars if I could. We got our own menus and it's been 45 minutes and still no one has taken our order. They've both walked by multiple times with empty hands and not said a word to us. I hope the owner fires them both and this place shuts down, it's less than they deserve for how unbelievably poor this restaurant is run. I'm very embarrassed for them. WOW. Wonderful and rustic small town breakfast and brunch dive. Comprehensive menu, unique specials, and great service. It looks like a lot of locals eat here-a good sign. I had really high expectations for this restaurant and am dismayed to be writing such a negative review. Hoping they just had an off day! I went in with a friend around 1:30 on a weekday afternoon. They were moderately busy, nothing crazy at the end of lunch rush. We sat at the bar and watched two staff converse for almost 10 minutes and not even a menu was dropped off for us. Mind you they were standing less than 15 feet from us. They even conversed with the guest next to us. I understand busy, even not taking a drink order in extreme circumstances for a bit but no menu and very rude intentional lack of interaction was uncalled for. We felt incredibly awkward and ended up leaving. When I went with my family a different time the waitress we had struggled to get to the table more than to take the order and drop the food. No drink refills, no checking in etc. again I hope this place is often better and it seems it is, unfortunately this was not my experience. read more

I lived in Bristol as a child so I came to Snap's to relive the nostalgia I felt for the cafe that was in the location in the early 90's. My husband and I came here for lunch on a Saturday. There was only one waitress managing the entire floor while we were there, so our experience may have been soured by the staff getting slammed. Service was terse, probably due to aforementioned problem. The food was alright but I was disappointed that my wrap wasn't left on the press longer so the contents were a weird combo of cold shredded cheese and warm-ish turkey. My husband's biscuits and gravy was in his words "standard." The restaurant is a bit dated in appearance, but that didn't bother me as much as the waitress quickly dropping the check without a word or a pen. read more

We went in just to get coffee for my friend but she sat down and so we both ordered breakfast. She ordered scrambled eggs and toast and was happy with what she got. I ordered Eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce tasted terrible -- and I am a true fan of Hollandaise sauce. The country potatoes were over-cooked. The ham tasted off to me. I had one bite of the Eggs Benedict and one bite of the potatoes. I set the plate aside and didn't eat anymore. Our waitress saw that I was not eating but she never inquired. She presented me with the bill and, of course, I paid it. We will NEVER go back. If you are a foodie this is NOT the place for you either. read more

All other attendees than I were raving about the food. Inordered the fried chicken which was okay. Upon eating the breast piece found thatbthe center of the chicken was cold, cooked, but cold. Service was okay, asked for a switch back beer, but got a fiddlesticks?? Would prefer to not return. There were insects crawling onnthe roof. read more

Thought I'd give this place another shot. This time, I went with a friend and our three young kids. Once again, a key ingredient was missing from both burger plates (guac), and my $15 Impossible Benedict patties arrived with just one patty and a tiny, sad French fry substitute. After we finished our drinks, our table got crowded, and the waitress didn't clear any of the empty glasses. Our table was covered with empties, and she didn't bother to remove them. It quickly got crowded, which isn't ideal when you have three young kids. Service can meh, and the attention to detail with their food has not improved. In Vermont with the boys on our annual motorcycle pilgrimage and headed to Bristol for breakfast. Our usual spot had changed hands and wasn't offering more than pastry and coffee so we wandered down the street to Snap's. Not sure how we missed this place prior but it has plenty of seating inside and a comprehensive breakfast menu. I focused on the side of the menu offering numerous varieties of eggs Benedict. We all settled on either the corner beef hash version (I like to call it the Irish Benedict) or the venison Benedict (never seen this version before). Snap's adds a little maple syrup to the corned beef hash which gives it a little sweetness that isn't overpowering. Both versions were excellent. Our waitress was playful and efficient keeping our coffees topped off. Will definitely come back here next year. read more

Lots of cross contamination,old food being served major health risk! don't cover date food or do food rotation properly. Heavy fly problem, mice, moldy food being served, undercooked food. Had a really solid breakfast here, and I'm not even a breakfast type of person. The corned beef hash was excellent. Love the atmosphere. I would give it 5 stars, but there is clearly a big difference from the way out of towners are treated and locals. For example, table next to us waitress asked several times how they were doing and what they needed. For us, we were only asked if everything was okay after we had finished eating. Kind of pointless. No big deal, just deducting a star. I'm sure if you're a local its wonderful! read more

Love this old timey restaurant. Great pies and sandwiches. Worth the Drive and enjoy the scenery coming down from tbe champlain islands especially in the fall. Make a stop at the bird museum and you have a nice day trio. read more

We've been here before which was the first time but this time I had the hash Benedict during Brunch and they use maple syrup to sweeten it. It was WWAAAYYY too sweet. I couldn't eat them. I wish they would put something on the menu that if someone wants some strup, they could have it for an additional charge. Otherwise leave it savory like it should be. The huge pieces of brisket are amazing but would be so much better without the syrup. Otherwise my family loves this place. Can't wait to have lunch and dinner there. read more

Quaint home town restaurant offering fast and friendly service and very good food. Unfortunately, they were out of Mac and Cheese I settled for the meatloaf melt which was very good. This is a find!!! Not "upscale," more real Vermont and charming, but with better food than at most upscale places I've been. Had "The Pest" sandwich ... fabulous sourdough (toasted), super tender poached chicken breast, sliced thin, pesto, roasted red peppers, brie... it was superb. Server was busy but so nice. I loved this place last year, but this year I ordered a burger with roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, and feta cheese. The toppings were just what I wanted...but the burger was just like the frozen ones I get at Costco. The waitress asked me how I wanted it...but it came 'hard'...very disappointing. read more

My friend and I went for the first time yesterday. The server was nice and attentive. I ordered sausage gravy and biscuits that came with home fries. I also ordered a side of crispy bacon. The biscuits were home made and probably are good. Unfortunately my entire plate was a pool of gravy with some sausage. If I were to order this again I would ask for the sausage gravy on the side so it was less grease on everything. It was very greasy. The home fries were ok but I had expected them to have onions and garlic and other seasonings in them. The bacon was not crispy. I can't say anything about the flavor of it. My fiancé and I enjoy coming here and they are always so kind. Quick service with a smile everytime, and they make sure they get your order right. We enjoy their crispy buffalo chicken wraps especially, and that is usually what we order. I would recommend this restaurant anytime of the day as all their options are good. read more

We were under the assumption that for 2:00 in the afternoon we could have a good meal in a reasonable time. There were about 5 tables seated. It took 10 minutes to have our order taken, 20 minutes to get a venison burger and French dip which came out completely not as ordered ( well done. ) Another 7 minutes and it came with mayonnaise (which was not ordered). At which point the slight apology could not help the tanking blood sugar level. Maybe a busier time would have helped. read more

I'm a vegetarian so I've never had eggs Benedict before. Snap's has quite the variety of versions of eggs Benedict, so I finally got to try it! Excellent. 10/10 would recommend. I got the kind with guacamole, and it went very well with the poached egg and hollandaise. AND THE ENGLISH MUFFIN WAS ONE OF THE MOST DELICIOUS THINGS I'VE EVER EATEN. I've been here many times over the years when it has been under different ownership, and I must say it has never been better. Three of us went there for breakfast and we were all happily surprised with the somewhat exotic selection and high quality meals. Far superior to average diners. The Calcutta eggs were curried scrambled eggs with sausage (lots of it), and included home fries, homemade pineapple chutney and honey oat toast. Yummy. The eggs with country ham and English muffin were also excellent, as was the "toad in a hole" (see picture). The ambiance is clean, warm and friendly in a diner style. While on a escorted tour of Vermont and New Hampshire a couple of weeks ago we stopped in Bristol for a "lunch on your own." During a brief stop at the Rite-Aid we as asked the clerk "Which restaurant would you recommend for lunch?" She said "Snaps, about a block from here." When we, my Wife and her little service dog entered Snaps we were welcomed immediately and shown a booth out of the sun near the kitchen. The aroma overwhelmed me. And I was definitely ready to eat. We each chose the New England clam chowder and 1/2 sandwich with a glass of Chardonnay. What a fantastic meal. Everything was made to perfection and delicious. While we were waiting for our meal who should walk in, but "Elvis" my wife said "Take his picture" I answered "Better yet I'll ask him to pose with you." And he did. (See photo) So if you're ever in Bristol VT and want to have a great meal with excellent service, and the chance to meet "Elvis" in person... Go to Snaps. I highly recommend it. read more

Was traveling through this small town on the way back south and dropped by Snap's for some breakfast. The place is home-y and makes you feel right at home. Love how their decor includes old school telephones (photo) and random objects you can look at to keep the wandering mind things to latch onto (even if for a few seconds). The servers were busy, as we went during Sunday brunch, but they were still quick and friendly. We got the Corned Beef Hash breakfast and a Sausage, Carmelized Onion & Feta breakfast omelet option (this can be found under the customized omelet section). Both were very good, seasoned well and in generous portions. Prices were reasonable/fairly low. If I lived even remotely close, I'd definitely come here again! read more
