Insane Ethan Allen burger!!! Up there as one of the best burgers of my life. The cranberry sauce is so creamy, mixed with the crunch of the apple, and fresh beef. WOW. We had seen reviews on this place and KNEW we had to stop here. It is out of the way, just a little burger trailer that is CASH ONLY. Everything is made to order, and not the quickest, but WOW was it GOOOOOOD. They were out of the hash brown for my breakfast burger and refunded us some of the difference which was nice. But the burger I got was still outstanding. That cabot cheese.... drool. The whole time we were eating my husband kept saying how this was his favorite burger ever- which is a bummer since we live in Texas and can't get back easily haha. But this was one to remember. This is a cute roadside stand that has tons of burger options! We are camping in the area and have been twice in the week we have been here & will likely return a time or two in the next week. The first visit we had a 35 minute wait for our order, which wasn't ideal, but wasn't terrible. I ordered a Reuben burger and it was delicious! We also ordered fries and they were decent, however, I probably wouldn't order them again. I like a crunch to my fries and these were lacking crunch. Husband always orders a plain burger (meat, bun & ketchup). He enjoyed his burger both visits. Second visit, I ordered a Bleu Royal and it was divine! We opted to get mozzarella sticks and they were super fresh & tasty. On the second visit, we did not have much wait, although there were way more customers this time! So don't drive by just because they may look busy; it seems to speed up the service a bit!! LOL! We have done both take-home & eaten on site. The tables are clean and the weather has been beautiful. They have a large menu that features everything from a basic burger to burgers with almost anything you can imagine on them! Pruces are reasonable, ranging from around 10-12 for a burger. They also have hot dogs, some seafood, chicken, and vegetarian options. After driving on route 108 from Stowe over Mount Mansfield the first town you hit is Jeffersonville. As it was lunch time and also a place I wouldn't likely be often in my life I looked around for food options and was intrigued by a literal hole in the wall called burger barn. Pros: an almost endless menu of burger options. There was another non burger menu but as I was drawn by the name burger barn I didn't look at it. Burgers are cooked medium to medium well and are sizable (maybe 6 oz) and are made of local grass fed beef. And most importantly they were tasty. They're also relatively inexpensive. There are picnic tables if you want to eat there as well as a portable restroom. Cons: it's not fast food and at peak times there are lines and it will take time to get your order. There is almost no shade so wear a hat and or sunscreen if midday if eating there. Overall: If you are nearby (it's on route 15) and hungry and like burgers I recommend it. read more

We came here on Father's Day, it was very busy, 20 minutes for a burger, fries, and a corn dog. Their time estimate was on point, so that was a positive. Cash only, so I'm glad we were carrying money. The service was friendly, not rude at all, which was good because we had to get more money from the car to finish paying, holding up the line. It was a short drive from Smugglers Notch and my wife and I were both glad we made the jaunt. It's quite an eclectic sight to see and the employee that took our order, the Boston Red Sox cap wearing young lady, deserves hazard pay and the best employee of the year award! Totally. F''king. Legit. We're on vacation in Vermont and find this place on Yelp prior to heading here. It was absolutely with the 38 mile drive from Burlington. My wife had the Nutty Goat and I had the Ethan Allen. We shared an order of onion rings. It took a little while to get the order but that's because they cook them when you order. We were looking for a place to eat and this place was recommended as a great place to grab a great burger. As we attempted to find this place we drove by it and didn't notice it. We made a u-turn and pulled up in a gravel filled parking lot. It looks like a food truck but is a small structure with a window. The menu is prominently posted on the side of the building displaying a rather reasonably priced fare. As we order we are skeptical but hopeful considering there was quite the crowd queuing up behind us. The sign Burger Barn is not large but big enough to notice if you slow down and focus. Lol! Now to the food! We had a hamburger with fries, we kept it simple. The hamburger is a little larger than a 1/4 pound and mine was medium well. It was flavorful and juicy on a Kaiser bun. If you passed this place on the road you most likely would not stop to eat. You need to know the history of the place to really understand what it is all about. A few years back, the Burger Barn was voted one of the ten best hidden gems in Vermont. Most locals know that and they made up 75% of the cars in the parking lot. There were two cars from New York and one from Maryland that also discovered it. The clientele was young - under 40, except for a few of us. I had the Swiss and my wife had the Greek. I would estimate that they had 20 or so varieties of burgers and a few seafood entree's. My burger was cooked to perfection. I ordered "medium well" and that was what I got. The ground beef was excellent. It was probably grass-fed Vermont beef (no Price Chopper sale beef here!). The bun had good flavor and was not soggy. They used real Swiss cheese and grilled mushroom slices. The cost was around $7.50 per burger and it was worth it. There is no inside seating. You either take out your burgers or eat on their picnic tables. The tables are in a grassy space surrounded by the parking lot and the main road. There is a lot of road noise and occasionally a car will kick up some dust in the parking lot. Hey! This is Vermont style dining. If you want a fine dining setting for your burgers, head to Boston or NYC. To improve the dining, you may want to bring your own picnic tablecloth, plates and utensils. We just roughed it. We will definitely return and may bring the picnic basket next time we go. read more

Ordered the Texas burger, Swiss burger, Ethan Allen burger, a regular hamburger for the pups (it was one of their bdays!), fried pickles and french fries. All were immensely delicious but Ethan Allen one was unique and exceptional! Burgers cooked perfectly medium well with a nice crust and made from fresh local beef. Pickles and fries so good too, you get a choice of dipping sauce with pickles (got the ranch). We brought our own water, but they have drinks and floats. Ate at one of the picnic tables while soaking up the sun and chatting with our fellow customers.
