Skip this one! I have food allergies and they DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS IN THEIR FOOD. I ordered the sweet potato fries. I thought it looked like a coating was used...I asked the waitress for the SECOND TIME. Nothing but sweet potato...maybe an egg wash at most, I was assured. I stopped eating them halfway through because I started to feel ill... asked the waitress to check with the 'chef'. She came back and told me that he didn't know because the BOX THEY CAME IN HAD BEEN THROWN OUT! I had clearly explained that I had food sensitivities and ordered a Hamburger..hold the bun and cheese. I substituted sweet potato fries for regular fries. Not only was I charged full price for a meal that made me sick...I was charged extra for the sweet potatoes. I will be reminded of this experience for however long it takes to purge. Poor food, poor customer service and overpriced for the boxed food that is heated and served (not prepared). read more

I got high on the way to a nearby waterfall, and realized I needed a sandwich. This place had sandwiches, so we gave it a try. The fries are top rate, class A french fries. Nearly perfect. Crispy outside, very crispy, and soft potato inside. I am hard to please when it comes to fries, and I was pleased and even surprised a bit at their excellence. Those fries came with the clam roll, which was unfortunately subpar. The clams weren't the best, and at $10, it was a bit pricey. If you're looking for the best clam roll around, I'd recommend trying the $3.75 clam roll at the snack cart on the side of the road in Putney, it is top notch clam roll and I ate two of those at once. My girlfriend had the veggie burger, and I tried it. It was good, what you'd expect from a veggie burger, but it came on an above average roll and more importantly it had guacamole on it. These days, with white people all aswoon over the avocado, nothing comes with guacamole anymore--you always pay extra. The old fashioned generosity this place showed by including guacamole in the list price did not go unappreciated. Overall I was happy with this place, I just wouldn't recommend the clam roll. I don't know if they have chili cheese fries or not, but if you come here high and hungry, and they exist, they'd be a good bet. read more

As good as it gets for breakfast around these parts. Super fast service, only took about ten minutes after ordering to receive food. I had some SOB and friend had eggs Benedict, very pleased with all the food. Wish we had a place like this in Middlebury! Prices were great too. Will try some lunch items next time. read more

Let me just say that the Country Eggs Benedict is so good that there are no words with which to describe it! And that's not all, either! Their pancakes are delicious, their country pork and gravy is amazing, and on and on and on! What makes it even better is that their server (didn't catch her name, but she is blonde and very nice) is top notch. She is on top of her game with service, making sure that everyone is well taken care of and happy. She remembers her frequent patrons and what they like to order. She is a credit to the industry, and all other servers should strive to be like her. The atmosphere is exactly what you want in a small Vermont diner. Small booths that are comfortable, old photos on the wall from the building from way back when, and a nice view of the sidewalks, Main Street, and any pedestrian traffic. Snaps resturant had great food, and ok service. The food itself was amazing. The fries were perfect, and the fish sandwich I got wasn't too bad either. The big problem with the restaurant, however, is the service. It took an excess amount of time to get us the food, even though there was only 3 or 4 people in the resturaunt. Along with that, they didn't have a large portion of their menu due to a food truck not delivering the food this week. The food rescued this review from being 3 stars, but the service definitely needs improvement in time and management. read more

Find somewhere else to eat - I ate here about a year ago and had a marvelous breakfast, Eggs Benedict on top of tatertots (comfort food) and was looking forward to the same thing this morning but greatly disappointed. The only reason this is getting one star is because the coffee was really good though I had to ask for it as I wasn't asked what I wanted to drink just given a glass of water. The food came quickly, and the eggs were nicely poached but I couldn't find the hollandaise sauce. I was finally able to catch the waitress, who had not come over to check on me, and asked about it. Her response was that the cook was having a difficult time with the sauce this morning and that's why it was very thin because it kept breaking - it's in the bottom of the dish she said. Well yes, maybe it was but it had made over a third of the dish so soggy it was completely inedible. Nothing else was said, no compensation was offered. I paid in full, left a smaller tip than usual (I usually do a minimum of 30%) and left. If the place had been busy I might understand it but it was mid-morning and quiet. Such a shame, I had really liked this place before - give this place a miss. See other reviews on Google. read more

Stopped in for lunch with three friends. Although the service was friendly is was painfully slow. The waitress offered us her daily special soup (which she admitted she made the day before). The soup was described as "Tomato soup with cream, spinach, bacon and mozzarella sticks". Well curiosity got the best of me and I gave a cup a try. Top breakfast I have had in Vermont. If you are skiing at Sugarbush, make the excursion over to Bristol to go to this place. Everything is so fresh, and it is very affordable. This place was our first stop on our trip to Bristol, Vt. For a appetizer we got a "nest". Shredded potatoes, cheddar cheese, bacon and sour cream. It was amazing, I could (and wish I had) have had that as my meal! My SO got Alfredo and I got a pineapple and ham cheeseburger, they didn't have a fancy name for my burger but they should have called it a "Hawaiian burger". His Alfredo left him a little disappointed; it was more eggy than cheesy. The garlic bread that came with it was yummy tho! I really wanted to like my burger - but it left me somewhat unsatisfied. Too little cheese, too much ham, not enough flavor. I brought it home, to not eat it and left me think maybe I'm just spoiled off Five guys. Next time no burgers. Cool little town in Vermont near a lot of tourist destinations close by. Visiting family here in Vermont with us from Virginia. Decided to try this local restaurant while traveling through town. Old town feel to it with tall ceilings, tin tile throughout, small counter in the back. Plenty of seating with roomy tables. Parking is a breeze on Main Street as well. Six of us total, with most getting burgers. I decided on the "Meatloaf Tower". Whoa, this is cool! Toasted bread with mashed potatoes stacked with a HUGH hunk of freshly made meatloaf with onion rings on top! With brown gravy too! Awesome! Yeah, it was really that good. Their burgers came out really good also. Server was polite and right on time. Try the "Snap Restaurant " if you're anywhere near Bristol, Vermont. You'll really like it. Enjoy. read more

I grew up in Bristol and greatly miss the amazing eateries now that I live in southern Vermont. One place I ALWAYS go to when visiting my parents is Snap's Restaurant. Their food is amazing, and the atmosphere is cozy. My only complaint is that I admit to cringing if we get one of the servers there as she is super slow. The veteran staff is great at picking up the slack for her though. Try the All Wrapped Up for breakfast, it's super tasty! read more

Snaps used to be called something else in high school, and then it was more a standard dive cafe - the place where you could load up on hangover potatoes for three bucks. Now they have expanded their menu - veggie burgers, side salads, something for every palate. I ordered a Caesar salad and it had way too much dressing on it. I recommend healthy-ing up your order if your health is of concern (ie, I asked for my veggie burger on their homemade whole wheat bread - the way to go). I like their window booths looking out at the town, and the waitresses are super nice and attentive, talking to everyone like friends. We've been here twice after swimming at Bristol Falls. They have a very tasty veggie burger (interesting combo of avocado and brie) and a few cheap beers. A nice corner diner vibe with plenty of seating. Only downside is that service is incredibly slow. Like really, really slow even when the place is close to empty. Hands down, with out a doubt the best open face turkey sandwich I've had in ages. Not rewritten, deconstructed, no foam. Just an honest dish made with love. This is a "go to" dish that unless you make it yourself, generally disappoints. Not here. Nice thick slices of toasted bread, mash, real turkey, lots of stuffing and the perfect amount of gravy. And of course cranberry sauce. Critiques? The mash needed some work. Seemed like the pots weren't dried enough before they were mashed, watery tasting, and needed more depth and seasoning, i.e. butter and cream, salt. Nothing better than properly made mashed potatoes and vice versa. It was still great. Well made. It should also be mentioned that the staff was very sweet and nice. Casual diner that gets it right. We had specials - fish tacos, and a vegetarian burger called the "Beyond Burger" that the staff talked up - and it went "Beyond" expectations. Truly did taste like a real hamburger! (I think that is in large part to having been cooked on the same griddle as real beef, but, whatever it takes!) It came with piping hot, perfectly done fries - not a burnt or bum fry in the bunch. It even came with a schmear of guacamole in addition to the typical L&T and pickles. Beers on tap were limited to two, so I had cider from a can, which worked fine. Husband said the fish tacos were not as "Beyond" expectations as the burger, though - the fish was not fried, strangely, an pieces seemed large but few and far between. We stayed on for dessert, each having a nice (but not disgustingly large) slice of coconut cream pie, piled high with whipped cream (THAT I don't mind being piled high). YUM! read more

I am pretty new to this area and for one reason or another and the offerings in Bristol are so remarkable for such a small town that it took us a while to try Snaps and learn what we had been missing. The lovely, light surroundings and relaxed but friendly and attentive service provided the setting for a creative and plentiful meal. Some real imagination goes into the menu, which seems to make use of whatever local produce is then most fresh and flavorful. Certainly a great deal of bang for the buck.
