I know it's hard to count on good food and service at a chain, but we actually had a really good experience here late last night. With our flight getting in much later than expected, we didn't have a bunch of options for food. We walked in just before 11 on a Sunday night. The place was busy, but we were seated promptly. We ordered a few beers...did I mention our long day filled with delays and flight diversions...and then we got some food. The 1/2 price mozzarella sticks helped almost as much as the beer. From there, I had the Tex-Mex shrimp bowl, while my wife had the Impossible Cheeseburger. Food came out fast, and it was good too. Service was also strong. Hostess very polite when seating us. Sat at the tables by the bar area. I ordered an appetizer which I thought it was half priced because it was during their happy hour for half price appetizers but I was wrong. The appetizer I ordered wasn't one of the appetizers for half price for happy hour. So I had to pay full price for my appetizer which didn't sit well with me. Not one of the two servers said anything about my appetizers not being part of the happy hour appetizers when I ordered. Not a good experience during their happy hour. We went for the all you can eat special Applebees had at the time. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. I guess I have to make sure I read everything on the menu before ordering. The manager came over and admitted that the patty was so thin that it fell apart. She was clearly aware of the poor quality of the food. Server was super nice and tried her best. I ordered the Mac and cheese with the honey chicken tenders thinking that it was going to be just that. No, it was a very bland penne pasta absolutely swimming in honey sauce from the chicken. It was so ungodly sweet I couldn't eat it. I ordered the extra bread stick with Alfredo sauce and ended up trying to cut the sweetness by pouring the Alfredo onto the pasta. I asked the server for another small cup of Alfredo and told her that it was just too sweet to eat. She brought another cup but there was no saving it. I couldn't eat it in the end. Ended up getting charged for the extra sauce, which is kind of crazy since I expressed how terrible it was and was trying to fix it instead of send it back. My stomach has been hurting ever since. Tonight we came to our neighborhood Applebee's to meet friends for happy hour and unwind after work, but unfortunately the experience was far from enjoyable. Our server, Arely (apologies if the name is misspelled -- supervisor Jonathan knows who we're referring to), did not greet us warmly and immediately gave the impression that she didn't want to be there. Throughout our visit she was half-listening, walking away mid-order without allowing us to finish speaking, and making us feel like an inconvenience for asking for very basic requests. Food was brought to our table randomly, and when we tried to clarify or correct things, we were met with attitude. It also wasn't particularly busy, so the lack of attentiveness was confusing and frustrating. One example: our friend ordered chips and queso as an appetizer with drinks, but instead all of the food was brought out at once. A side salad that was supposed to come with the meal was delivered before our alcoholic drinks and sat on the table for about 20 minutes. We even tried to cancel the chips and queso before the food came out since it was no longer needed, yet it was still brought out -- and the server seemed irritated by the request, as if we were wrong. When we attempted to order additional food and drinks (we planned on staying and enjoying our night), we were treated like a burden for simply ordering more. A drink was also sent out incorrectly and had to be replaced. During all of this, Javier, the GM, stood at a distance and watched without stepping in. This is not our first experience with him, and it was very clear that he had no intention of helping or addressing the situation. Thankfully, Jonathan, the supervisor, stepped in -- and he completely turned the night around. His professionalism, understanding, and positive attitude were unmatched. He handled the situation with care, empathy, and a big smile while clearly running the floor. Honestly, he should be the GM. After asking Jonathan not to send our original server back to the table, we later noticed her across the room with Javier, rolling her eyes and cutting looks in our direction -- which only added to the discomfort. All we wanted was a relaxed, enjoyable night with friends. Instead, we felt dismissed and disrespected. This experience has truly turned us off from this location. I could barely hear the person on the phone, just heard her laughing and messing around . Then they said if I'm DoorDash I have to go in. It's the average Applebee's experience. It's not the worst but it's not the best either. We like to come here for reverse happy hour. The 1/2 price apps and $4 beers make up for the mediocre service. We visited this on 11/2/25, very close to their opening time. We went in an were greeted right away by the hostess. She asked if we would prefer a booth or table. I told her either would be fine, she chose a booth for us. I asked her if we could please have a high chair for our 1 year old. It took her a few minutes, and she came back with a booster seat and immediately walked away. We attempted to use the booster seat but, the distance between the seat and the table was too great, and it wasn't going to accommodate our needs. Our server overheard my complaint and asked if she could get us a highchair to which we agreed. After she brought the highchair over and we got our baby situated, the manager called our waitress over a couple feet away and began to yell at her for giving us a highchair. He began to point and stare at us while he scolded the server on the floor in front of customers. I watched him go back to the doorway of the kitchen and scowl at myself and my family. I pointed this out to my husband and elderly mother, that the manager just yelled at the server (to which they heard, everyone did) and him staring at us. My husband was very upset by this and told our server we would dine somewhere else. The server and hostess sincerely apologized, but the manager stayed far away. I am writing this to let you know, we will never return to this location to dine, and I believe your manager who opened Sunday morning should be spoken to in regard to his behavior. The other thing to note, is my husband actually works for one of the distributing companies for your location. This is poor behavior to exude and it reflects as very unprofessional on your business. The correct way to have handled whatever problem was unfolding in the manager's opinion was to come over and have a conversation with us, to explain and find a solution. Worse managed Applebee's I've been too. I read the reviews before coming but because I was visiting and thought a corporate large-scale business couldn't be managed that bad all the time so I was hoping by rolling the dice that I had a good experience. It was horrible. The service was ridiculously slow. Almost 15 minutes before acknowledging me at my table. Wasn't excessively crowded and there were servers but many seem to be dragging their feet and staying out of sight. Unfortunately, my waiter was pretty slow although was very cool and nice. He didn't really seem to have the experience but he made sure my food was good. My drink was also good. He did give it his best so although I didn't see him much and I felt he was underperforming which looks like the same for a few other servers I'll give him my A-Plus for effort. I truly don't fault the server, I fault the management. Get new management. No reason a commercial large chain is operating so horribly and the reviews are so consistent. I went to pick up my order and waited in the lobby. When the lady brought me my food, she asked me to sign a receipt. I was confused because I wasn't the authorized cardholder for the order, and my boss had already tipped when we placed it. The lady stood nearby and watched as I signed the receipt. I felt uncomfortable because I had to put $0.00, knowing we had already tipped online. It was an awkward situation since they were essentially asking for a duplicate tip. To all my fellow food grabbers, you might want to consider avoiding this location if possible. While the food itself wasn't bad, I enjoyed the Mac and Cheese, the uncomfortable experience of being observed while signing a receipt for an already placed order was quite bizarre. They forgot two items from my order, and this seems to be a recurring issue. You might wonder why I didn't check the bag before leaving. Well, I had a rather unfriendly and agitated staff member standing beside me, displeased that I hadn't tipped. We decided to go to Applebee's because we were staying at the Marriott Gateway before flying home. We decided to eat dinner on a Sunday night (Sept 26, 2021). I have always liked Applebee's. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. The waitstaff wore masks. Since Applebee's has a bar, we decided to order Long Island iced teas and a scotch and water. We asked if the bar had a particular brand of scotch, but the waitress had trouble understanding us (English is not her first language.). She did ask the bar and they gave her the available options. Our choice was among those so we were pleased. We ordered a grilled chicken salad, a Chinese chicken salad, a fried chicken salad, a soup and salad combination, and a cup of French onion soup. She brought the French onion soup first. No crackers even when we asked. Soon after she brought three salads and the tortilla soup. We asked for crackers to go with the soup but they never arrived. We had to ask for the other salad. The food was good. She did not check to see if we needed more or other drinks. I had to drink someone else's water. It was annoying to watch the waitress go over to sit at another table with two men. She was talking and laughing with them the whole time we were eating dinner. I don't think that she was on a break. She wasn't checking on her customers. We had to ask her for our ticket several times. When she brought the bill it was wrong. She mixed up our order with another order and when we questioned it, she said that it didn't really matter. I realize that there is a staffing shortage due to the pandemic and other factors, but I question whether this person understands that repeat business and her tips depend upon customer service. Perhaps this Applebee's needs more training for the staff or stricter hiring policies. Not everyone can do this job. read more

When the only other restaurant in walking distance is on a crazy wait and you can't, you go to Applebee's. It's been decades since I sat in an Applebee's. Of the numerous chains like it, Applebee's was never my favorite. I mean, the food was always just ok, and service totally depended on the server and the day they were having, so naturally it fell out of my thoughts entirely. Recently they resurfaced in my consciousness thanks to the "Dollarita" promotion. Who could forget that? I think it was that promotion that made going into this restaurant less of a struggle for me. The promotion made the brand seem downright fun, and fun people don't eat crappy food. Right? Right! Dinner was decided on as soon as we sat down. UNLIMITED CHICKEN FINGERS AND UNLIMITED RIBLETS FOR $12.99! How could there be anything else on the menu better? Even if there was, we weren't interested and proceeded to plow through plate after plate of these items. The riblets were tender and tasty, but the sauces were too sweet and a little thick for me. I should've asked to have the sauce on the side, but never got around to that request. The chicken fingers were your all white meat tenderloin type with a nice crunchy seasoned breading. You know the real peppery kind? To cut that you got honey mustard though, which was pretty tasty. Our server was attentive and efficient, but I don't know if I'd call her friendly. She certainly was helpful though, and that's what matters. All in all a solid experience. I didn't expect much, and what I got over delivered. read more
