Disappointed with poor customer service from David at the Apple store at Washington Square. I was considering a IPad Pro but don't keep up with information related to each model etc. I thought I remembered hearing that Apple updates their iPads every year (I might be wrong there) and didn't want to buy a model that is about to be dated and retired. I called the store yesterday and spoke to a guy named David who ended up being pretty rude. I asked him a simple question of "Is Apple releasing a new iPad Pro soon and do you know of a release date yet". His snarky response was only to tell me that they "don't speculate or share rumors". I was taken off guard by his response and thought that maybe he had not heard me correctly as I wasn't asking him to do either of those things. I went on to explain what I mentioned above and asked the same question. His response was literally the same words he had said before without any additional explanation. She said they didn't have any and would check in back. I then see her wandering around somewhere else. I asked another person who didn't know. I then asked someone else who found someone to help me. The CD drive was where it should be. The next issue was I needed to pay. This person couldn't take payments in waved me in another direction. I had the absolute worst customer service experience ever in my life. I had an appointment because there is a safety concern with my daughter's phone. A tech specialist appropriately addressed the concern. Afterwards a different person came out and essentially was accusing me of lying. Then accused me of being "aggressive" and not speaking to him "appropriately" when I was trying to explain my concerns. He approached it as a criminal interrogation and not as a customer with a valid complaint. I honestly didn't even know how to respond to him, as he was being extremely aggressive. I said I would like to leave, and he said, "No you can stay, but you have to talk to me appropriately." I would list his name, but I don't know that he won't retaliate. read more

Came in a few months ago to get my broken phone assessed and forgot the name of the associate who helped me out but it was a dude with colorful tattoos on his right arm. I was told my phone was a lost cause and that I would need to pay $550 for a replacement since "it won't even power on". I was suspicious because when I took it home, the supposedly dead phone was still making sounds, but I still trusted that people at this "genius" bar knew what they were talking about. My mom took it to some local repair shop and turns out, only the screen was broken. I've been to this store twice. The first time was three weeks ago to buy a 17" MacBook Pro and then again this past weekend to buy a wired mouse. Based on advice from a trusted tech friend, and a glowing recommendation from Consumer's Reports, the MacBook Pro seemed liked a great computing solution. I lucked out when coming to the Washington Square store because I was assisted by a very knowledgeable and cool rep named Joe. Seemed like "Yes" was the answer to all my questions for the peripherals and software that I wanted. They even had an employer discount. The store takes some getting used to. Besides being a jammed-packed crazy zoo on the weekend, there is not a checkstand, but roving reps with mobile devices can ring you up. You just have to hunt one down. What I love about Apple is that you can pick your stuff up immediately upon purchase. Back in my old Dell days, it was making a purchase and then waiting days (or weeks) to then take time off from work to wait for a DHL or UPS truck to deliver my equipment. A nice touch at this Apple Store was that, without being asked, the rep loaded all my stuff on to a cart and wheeled it out to my car. Now onto the Mac itself. It was nice that the peripherals installed quickly and without any problems. The monitor displays amazingly sharp and crisp images. But I have found some drawbacks to the Mac. Two game packages I installed are somewhat buggy (the Windows versions worked fine for me on other computers). Also, some software is just plain not available for the Mac. On the other hand, I love Office for Mac. It's definitely better than Office for Windows - one big reason being is that Office for Mac retains the handy menu bar that was inexplicably trashed by Microsoft in Office 2007/2010. My disappointment with Office 2007/2010 was actually one of the reasons for me switching over to a Mac. The wireless Magic Mouse I originally bought is fairly clumsy and so small that your hand may cramp using it. The wired mouse I just bought is a little better, though I had to buy an extension from Best Buy for it because its cable is so short (2.5"). I understand that Apple wanted a clean and lean keyboard, but it is a little cumbersome to use key combinations that emulate the missing home, end, page up, page down and backspace keys. But aside from the drawbacks of the keyboard and mice, I'm still satisfied with my purchase and having fun getting acquainted with it. Oh, and I love the Harman Kardon Sound Sticks that I got to go with the computer! read more

Made appt at Genius Bar...have had to do this a few times now. I like how you can do them online. It's a bit crowded in there but I have always immediately been greeted, taken to genius bar where I'm passed off to someone whom checks me in and very quickly greeted by another that helps me out. Have never had to wait long at all. I'm typically in and out of there in about 20 min. Both times I went in due to iPhone troubles. Both times they did what they could to fix it and ended up giving me referb phones free of charge. Can't thank them enough for all the money and troubles they have saved me! read more

This store is a cluster, and the manager is a patronizing, inefficient simpleton. To get service for a defective ipad keyboard, I first had to wait in line 15 min to then be put into a queue to wait for a specialist. They notified me after another fifteen minutes saying it was now my turn, then I waited another fifteen minutes and still no specialist. I'm a longtime customer who's shopped at Apple stores in about 10 states. I've never had anything but good or great experiences previously. This location is the absolute worst for customer service. Yesterday, I went to pick up a $1,300+ top-of-the-line new iPhone (which I had paid for in advance in full online beforehand) and was rudely treated by two sales people at the store, who had no info to offer. They told me to get in line, and eventually my phone would be ready. No time frame -- just stand in line or just wander the mall and keeping checking back till the phone happened to become available. They couldn't even tell me whether the phone would be available that day at all. Not only were they useless, they weren't even remotely courteous or polite. I've never encountered such pathetic excuses for customer service reps. I'd expect them to be career failures in the future as well, because if they can't even act like baseline humans fit for society, it'd be hard to expect anything more. I'd fault them and whatever crappy managers run this location and are supposed to train people (but clearly don't). I've reported this location to corporate via online form. I've also emailed Tim Cook directly, given that he, like Steve Jobs, accepts emails from the public and sometimes replies to them. read more

Terrible experience I went in to get my cousin's phone fixed for her birthday, I was running late to my appointment, I was like 10 minutes late. So I got to the Apple Store and was standing waiting for someone to help me but they were helping someone else, the employees are scattered all over so you have to walk up to them in order to get help usually they walk up to you to greet you and ask what your here for. So I walked up to this female employee told her why I was here she got me in and sat me down. I was waiting. I figured I was running late so I had to wait a little longer. But then 30 minutes pass by and I finally ask another employee hey I've been waiting for 30 minutes when will someone be with me?! They looked me up by my name and tell me the employee who "checked" me in never did so they didn't even know I was here waiting. I used Apple before the most I've waited in like 10-15 minutes max. So they apologized and finally start helping me with the repair it was like 1:30pm by the time I got helped I arrived at 12:55pm. They take the phone try to give me a discount on my service great I'm happy. Fast forward it 6pm now and I come back to get the phone and they tell me they weren't able to fix it due to the front glass it would be a whole unit repair. But they didn't bother to text, call, or email saying they were unable to fix it. So pretty much I just wasted my time today waiting for a phone to get fixed they couldn't fix and of course they don't have in stock because once the new iPhone comes out they kick the old one to the curb. They tired helping me to call another place to get a new one that was close by but the guy took another 20 minutes of waiting and of course he took the phone with him so I couldn't leave until he was done. Took a couple of days to get an appointment. When I finally got in there still was a fifteen minute wait. Then the guy who was supposed to help me was disturbed. He was standing to my side so I had to turn my neck hard to see him. Not sure why he did that, but as I adjusted my arms to brace the table to turn on my stool to face him he shrieked and jumped backwards saying in a loud, horrified voice, "DON'T YOU TOUCH ME!" (I had no intention of touching him, I simply wanted to look directly at him, hoping he might get hold of himself enough to be of help.) I spoke calmly and gently to him, hoping to de-escalate whatever set him off, but he just walked away from me. I was buying a new phone. Tried to go into my appointment today (only way to get defective airpods serviced) and Showed up 5 minutes late. Got shuffled around various security guards outside with a very busy line that was really packed in. Finally found the end of the line after neighboring shops telling me not to block their entrance and a security guard looked at my appointment which was now 11 minutes ago and I was refused because they will only allow you to be 10 minutes late. There were accidents on the freeway and they said they have other appointments coming up to service but I am certain they will be late too due to the pileup on the freeway. I was turned away despite having driven 45 minutes and having worked so hard to get an appointment. I techinically wasn't 11 minutes late until the chaos of finding the end of line and they never said this was a hard cutoff. Ultimately I didn't gripe much, the line was really packed in as they don't give enough room for how many are lined up and I would prefer to feel safe and not at risk of catching CoVid. Store should do a better job of organizing the spilling-over line in the mall. What a disaster, risk to me, and waste of my time. Never got my airpods looked at. read more

Then a week after that, I bought myself the same iPad like my husband's with an Apple Pencil and the lady who assisted me asked if I have a business because she could give me a discount, so from 1,507.95$, I only paid 1,428$, so I saved 79.95$. If I knew that I could get a discount for having a business, I should have asked for it on my first visit. ****************************************************** DON'T TAKE A NO FOR AN ANSWER On my third visit today, I came with my husband's 15 inch MacBook Pro 2018 that he only bought last March together with the latest iMac. My husband has been having issues with its keyboard & I've researched that many people are having the same problem so my husband wanted me to exchange it with MacBook Pro 2019 and just pay the difference. But I was told by the associate that the latest model isn't available and was told that they couldn't do the exchange since it's already past 2 weeks. She said what they can do is to fix the keyboard or I can return my hubby's MacBook Pro 2018 and just order the 2019 online. She asked me to put the serial # to find out how much would be the value if I return it, and it turns out, it's only gonna be 1,500$ which isn't acceptable because my hubby's laptop is only 2 months old and we paid 2,799$. So I asked her if I can talk to their manager. She was also busy assisting other customers and told me she'll be right back, so I asked another associate and asked him the same thing. They both told me I could only talk to the manger if I call their customer service number but I said I don't wanna do that. So I instead asked if I can talk to anyone who's in charge of the store. Their leader told me the same thing. I called my hubby and explained what happened and he insisted if the manager can call him ASAP. So I asked the associate again and finally, she told me she will touch base with her manager and will be right back. They said earlier they don't have the manager but I guess it pays off being assertive. After few minutes, the manager named Tom approached me and I explained what happened and told him we've been loyal Apple customers for decades and we purchase many apple products almost every year for our company and Tom was very nice and told me they normally don't do it but he'll do a one time exemption. So he replaced my hubby's MacBook Pro 2018 with MacBook Pro 2019 with no additional cost that's why I am giving it a 4-star review, it would have been 5 if the lady associate was candor in the beginning and if I didn't have to be so assertive. I used to be timid and couldn't say "NO" to any favors but now I wouldn't take a "NO" for an answer. That's a thing I've learned from my husband. By leaving a five star review, I clearly have a bias experience because the outcome of my visit left me with a new $1200 phone. However, I would be remiss by not giving credit where credit is due. During my visit, I worked with a genius by the name of Cody, and after some introduction, we talked about my issue. I went in because I had condensation in the front and rear camera, the face recognition stopped working and there was rattling from within the phone, as if something came loose. In April, I had a screen replaced by the store because the front speaker wasn't working, and I thought the issues were related to the work apple had done. Cody started with,"I don't know if you had work done by a third party or everything that has happened between now and the time you had the screen replaced. Apple does not cover water damage, so you might have a service fee of 599.99 today. Having said that, I think we messed up, and we here at Apple will make it right if we did mess up." He continued after a brief pause,"I am busy right now, but I am going to send the phone back to get checked out to see if we made a mistake. It should only take about 10-15 minutes. We are very meticulous and critical of our work, so I assure you if there was a mistake on our end, which it sounds like there was, we will find it." Now, something to note is that all this dialog is based off my memory, so I could be misquoting. Nonetheless, he told me to stick around till 5:30pm which was odd to me because he said 15 minutes and it was only 5:03pm when he quoted the time. Anyways, 5:23pm rolls around and Cody comes out of the back holding my phone and a new phone. It seemed to me that he gave me a longer quote time because he wanted to inspect the phone himself. He took it apart and with clear, concise articulation told me the issue and how Apple was at fault for the damage. For any of the management team reading this message, I want to highlight why even if I didn't get a $1200 phone I would've left a review. Cody did not give me unreal expectations, he took responsibility for the companies actions and acted on it with his own time and integrity, he used clear communication when speaking with me, and he made me feel that Apple was on my side, even before a conclusion was made. I am proud to boast about my experiences at Apple because of genuine employees such as Cody, and I always leave with a feeling of security and fairness with the brand. I forgot to mention. Lastly, I want to emphasis how clear he was with his communication. I can, if asked, explain exactly what went wrong in my device, how his team was at fault and why they made the mistake. Remarkably, I obtained that level of understanding in under 5 minutes of explanation after receiving my new phone. Bravo read more
