As a previous employee im ver disappointed to see where this company has gone. I had issues with my phone which were not resolved. I was told to turn off half the features so my battery last more... they would only replace it if I paid (and it's under warranty) - the manager that came to speak to me was also unhelpful. On top of that they were 15 mins late for my appointment. What's the point if having us set then up if your technicians are gonna be late. But god forbid YOU, the customer is late... smh If I ever buy any Apple product I'll buy them at at&t or Best Buy because I'm not wasting more time going to this store and getting no help. read more

Very disappointing experience. It's almost as if Apple itself is on a mission to completely disappoint customers and is only concerned with making money. Apple changes big time! The product is of poor quality and the service is even worth. Just today I needed to fix the back of the phone - which is made of glass, believe it or not. One would think that if you make the back of the phone in glass for a more impressive appearance, you would also make sure to have that part of it replaceable?! Well, guess what, not at Apple! The back is UNFIXABLE. You have to replace the phone. The Apple Care + ironically only covers 2 damage claims (something I wish anyone would mention one of the 100 times that I was there on the business of exactly those 2 claims). Therefore, this claim was denied and the cost to repair was $415. The new phone is $500 at Verizon and $600 at Apple just to compare. On top of that if you want to turn the phone in, it's priced at $250, BUT considering that there is damage it would have been even less. Just to sum up this experience from today, there is nothing that can be done unless you want to buy a new phone and no one cared to mention it when the appointment was made to save me the trip. I made an appointment to have something in my phone fixed, only for them to cancel the appointment without explanation. They told me to wait a few minutes, which ended up being only an hour only for them to tell me they don't have time to assist me . I understand that the employees are busy but I'd rather them have told me they couldn't help at all rather than let me wait for almost an hour. Really poor service. read more

Trying to purchase a phone in this store was really hard and frustrating. Starting by all my attempts - trying to be a walk-in client or booking an appointment- they were always too busy or not available for what I needed: purchase a new phone and transfer the info from the old one to the new phone. -just 64GB-. The associate - Tasha/ Tashia- had an attitude, declined to my simple requests like putting the SIM card into the new phone and transferring the info. She said that it will take too long -25 min- and she didn't have enough time to do it. As I told her, if I wanted to just buy a phone, I would do it online, but I took my time to go to the store because I needed some assistance and customer service. I felt that she just wanted me to buy the phone, pay and leave. She didn't want to spend time with me guiding me or giving me some assistance. Terrible bad service. I felt like if I were begging for something that I as a customer have right to get. read more

The guy who helped us said they ran out of Mac book airs even though they had a bunch of them. He said that the student discount doesn't work with the 2019 edition of the air and I would have to get the 2018 model which was not at the store. I told him that the website states that it's the 2019 model. After arguing, I told him forget it and just ordered it for store pickup, which was ready about an hour later. He already seem disinterested when we were about the buy the laptop and it felt like he didn't want to engage with me on the sale. He didn't seem that knowledgeable so I would definitely recommend consulting with a different person when at this store. read more

Got there 15 minutes late. Took another 30 minutes to be seen and get my phone. Received the phone back with a new battery installed with19% charge in it. A new battery.. They could not see the new battery was almost dead and at least charge it a bit. Unbelievable. Never again... read more

I tried to return a couple of small peripheral iPhone items that were purchased on line from Apple.com. The return was past the "14 days window" but The items are still widely used for multiple phones. Apple store manager and clerks Refused to restock even with an online receipt and transaction info presented to them. Dear Apple CEO, Mr. Tim Cook Are we speaking returning perishables?! Why are you refusing to restock unopened merchandise in it's original untouched packaging? SHAME on You Apple and its customer service! Bad customer service! All I wanted was a charger and I understand the new COVID policy that you have to make an appointment for any purchase before going in. (Didn't know this until I got there). My real complaint is that 3 of the 4 employees standing outside didn't even a knowledge me until I got close enough. Then first thing I was told was to back OFF! Really? Ehhhhh, not the best Apple Store experience I've ever had. This place, even at 2 PM on a Wednesday, was packed to the absolute gills with customers. Even though the rest of the mall didn't seem too crowded, apparently everyone was headed to the Apple Store. First off, do not even bother coming in for troubleshooting without an appointment. You can make them really easily online, so I guess that's one plus. I had a Genius Bar appointment at 2:20, checked in, and was instructed to take a nearby seat. I didn't get seen until almost 2:50, however, and only spent about 4 minutes with my technician before I was sent home without any real solution to my crazy battery-life issues. His "solution" was that I could do a hard reset and restore my phone to "see if that helped." If that didn't work, however, apparently I would be better off just upgrading to a new phone since my warranty was up. "Just upgrading," mind you, would run me about $750 for a brand new phone, of course. There was never any mention of replacing the battery, recommending a battery case, or anything like that. He literally didn't do anything to my phone at all besides link it up to the network so he could run an analysis of it on his iPad. Also, his reaction to my issue with my phone randomly shutting down at like 20% was, "Oh, that's normal." Sketch. Anyway, I went home and did a hard reset on my phone, and it seems like maybe it's helped a little bit with overall battery life, but not by much. It also died at 22% while I was in the middle of using it, so, awesome. Not sure if I'll be able to hold out for the iPhone 7 (whenever that's coming), but I definitely have no interest in downsizing to the 6SE, so we'll have to see how long I can last on my charge-up-my-phone-multiple-times-a-day schedule. If I do end up taking my phone back in to be looked at, I'll probably try out one of the other Apple Store locations in the area -- Fair Oaks or Clarendon, maybe? read more

I went in the week before Christmas for an in-store pick-up of an online order. When I showed up at the store, my order wasn't ready, despite an email from Apple to the contrary. You see, some kind of computer glitch caused them to send the iPad I ordered all the way from Cupertino instead of just giving me one of the dozens in stock at the store. I was told it would arrive the day AFTER Christmas - clearly not acceptable. The iPad was a Christmas gift requested by my computer illiterate 72 year-old mother (no comment on what that implies). Well, since they had dozens in the store of the exact model and color I ordered, they could just give me one of those, right? Wrong. They couldn't really explain why, but for some reason MY iPad, was the one in transit from California and I couldn't have any other one in the world - unless I wanted to pay twice. It HAD to be the one being sent. Then, I would have to come back after Christmas to pick up the first iPad only to return it. Makes perfect sense. Uh huh. It's not like they were out of them either. If I had just walked into the store unannounced without using their "convenient" store pick-up option, I could've bought the iPad I wanted right then and there. It took them 45 minutes to sort this out, including the involvement of at least one manager. The first staff member was powerless to do anything and couldn't have cared less. All knowing Apple must be doing things the right way and the poor consumer must be wrong. After this was all resolved (whcih included me calling their 800 customer service line to cancel the order for MY iPad which was in transit), I politely asked for directions to the Microsoft store because I wanted to check out the Surface tablet. Here's their answer: "The Microsoft Store?! Oh yeah, just walk on this level toward the other end of the mall. Keep going until you see people playing xBox and Microsoft employees all wearing these annoying bright blue shirts. It's the store with no customers in it." A$$hole. (By the way, Mr. Apple McSnotty was wrong: there were plenty of customers in the Microsoft store and the employee who helped me was quick, courteous and knowledgeable.) read more

Since I buy pretty much everything online I essentially only come into the Apple Store for browsing and for computer or phone emergencies. My husband and I have had two problems where we've had to go to the Genius Bar. The first time my husband cracked his phone case. Instead of fixing the phone they just gave him a brand new phone...so not complaining there. Just recently my MacBook Pro wouldn't turn on. On minute it is working fine and the next it won't turn on. Our appointment was for 5:15 and we arrived about 5 minutes early. The store was crazy busy (it was a Friday) but we were still seen at 5:15. The Apple staffer took my computer to the back to analyze the problem and came back in 5-10 minutes. Unfortunately something in my computer just died and it's costing $475 to fix it :( I liked that we were seen on time and that the employees were up front about the problem. Obviously I'm mad at Apple because a three-year-old computer should not have died for no reason but that's not this particular store's fault. read more

If any company knows how to market their products, it's Apple. In order to credibly review this store, I'd have to actually review all their stores. The entire store and marketing culture is so overbearingly homogeneous across all of Apple's stores that the only distinguishing feature between them is the location and quality of the clientele. But then, doesn't Apple set up stores mainly in the predominantly 'richer' locales? Did you know - Apple stores sell $4000 worth of products per square foot per month. The store employees are trained to be information/knowledge dispensers rather than salespersons. 90% of applicants are turned down for an open position. All Apple 'geniuses' are trained at the corporate headquarters in Cupertino, CA. Now, this store is located at a very high traffic mall, full of youngsters and hip oldies. The hourly wage staff is friendly, more so than the somewhat self-absorbed 'Geniuses'. People work at Apple because of passion, not so much for the money. Of course, those hefty employee discounts are always a good bait for prospective store employees! I have been to this particular store about 5 times, maybe more. The first couple times I was there for my iPhone related issues. Here's more trivia - Apple Genius Bar policy dictates that every iPhone related issue has to be settled to the customer's satisfaction within the first 10 minutes. The deadline for Mac related issues is 30 minutes. Don't quote me on this as I doubt my sources are the most reliable on Earth. Anyway, the generally brash attitude of the Geniuses notwithstanding, I was able to get my issues resolved to my satisfaction. Recommended A+. Last time I was here, I was trying to buy a new iMac. Of course, being a techie myself, I don't really need any buying advice from a store employee, but the nice guy I was chatting with was able to convince me to invest my money on the best iMac available in-store. Keep in mind, though, that Apple retail policy states that they are not going to retry a failed credit card transaction on the same day. You have to come back another day, or try a different store. I learned this the hard way when I realized my bank wouldn't automatically authorize transactions more than $2,500 without a call to them first. As someone already said, this store has enough inventory of all sorts of Apple and non-Apple products like cases, bags, software, and even books. There's a nice projector screen at the back with comfortable seats. These are meant primarily for in-store training sessions, but feel free to seat yourself down while waiting for your 'Genius Bar' appointment. As with every Apple retail outlet, feel free to entertain yourself with the various Macs on display. Kids would enjoy the nice bean bag chairs in front of iMacs with popular games loaded. One of the best places to spend your free time, access free Internet, play games, meet friends, relax, get your buggy iPhone repaired, and of course, to buy your next favorite computer. This store has the worst customer service and I'm not quite sure they understand the concept of appointments. If I have a 1:30p.m. appointment, it shouldn't take until 2:00p.m. for someone to acknowledge my presence again, after check in. The store appears to be staffed adequately and yet, no one seems to care after you check in for your appointment. A lot of the younger staff stand around talking to each other. Maybe they should hire more help for those waiting at the Genius Bar. Then again there seems to be a lot of employees in Apple's backroom but none who actually assist customers. After numerous issues with Apple products and hours wasted waiting for help at their genius bar, I have finally switched cell and computer providers and am extremely content. After deciding to add the iPhone to my technology repertoire, I dashed over from work to get in line knowing that it was going to kill the rest of my afternoon. Luckily, the project I'm on is in a low tempo mode for what I'm doing and my deliverables will be ready by then. I got into line and was greeted by an Apple employee who asked me a few questions before handing me a ticket. Thankfully he still had one black iPhone left - never mind that it was a 16 gig model when I probably would have to find excuses to use the extra space. So then an hour goes by before I'm greeted by an employee with a very bouffant hair style and overly friendly nature. Unfortunately it took a while to port my number but the employee ran through the ropes with me to get my phone going and while he was battling it out with AT&T and the phone service (I guess Sprint didn't want to let my number go after 6 years), I shopped for accessories. The only detractor from my overall experience was that the place smelled like a cloy, thick cloud of teenage BO - I mean seriously? When walking into the store, most technology stores smell like plastic and data centers - not unwashed teens who have been roaming the mall all day. Even my wife didn't want to hang out in the store and actually decided to step out until I was done. Blech. I think Steve Jobs should invest in a Febreeze system for the Tysons store. I've been in pet stores that smell better. Pee yew!!! read more

I had the most awesome experience here today. My Sony Vaio is getting ready to say nite-nite, so I started shopping for it's replacement yesterday. I'd always thought the Apple notebooks were attractive, but I didn't know if I'd actually want to OWN one. Last night I started looking at them online and reading reviews on them, and naturally I found myself getting a little more intrigued over what so many were gushing about. I walked into the Apple store this morning, and although it was crowded at 11:30am, it was as though the sales staff sensed a non Mac user was contemplating becoming a Mac user / owner. They all flocked to me with their friendly hellos, but it was Lauren that really stood out. Lauren could not stop gushing about her love affair with Apple computers. I could tell it was sincere; it was not a sales tactic, she really, really loved her Mac Book and other Apple products. She took the time to explain all the applications of the Mac Book, addressed my questions and my concerns in switching from a Windows O/S, and just couldn't stop gushing. Normally, this would be annoying to me, but I realized that Apple seems to breed a loyalty that I secretly want to be a part of. Every little service that was available to me as an owner was explained, such as the workshops they offer in the store, Apple Care (a tech support type service, but much friendlier than remaining on hold for hours on end), One to One personal training to learn more about your computer, and of course, the in-store Genius Bar. I have to say I fell half way in love and bought it! I can't wait to play with it on my flight to Cali! read more

Plan not to have anything to do the entire day while they check you in at least 3 times before they make you wait until someone decides to roll over at their leisure. Also forget about actual repairs.. always replace and make a sale. Apple needs some healthy competition. read more

Sorry to say but my experiences at this store have been subpar at best relative to other Apple stores I've shopped at. Ordered a custom laptop to ship to this location and they failed to notify me that it was delayed, almost had me cancel my order because it was "lost" and then magically found it the next morning. Strangely, there is a ton of staff on the floor here but it took 3 staff members just to help me pick-up my laptop. Felt like lots of staff milling around doing very little. Friendly staff, sure, but I'd prefer more efficient and effective help any day. Store is also a little hectic (not necessarily their fault) and so didn't feel like I really had the salespeople's attention when asking questions the past 3 times I've visited. read more

This store is often extremely crowded, even on weekdays. Also, many of the employees are misinformed and/or rude. I've been to other Apple stores and generally the service is better than this one. If you visit this store, expect to wait an extremely long time to get any tech issues or repairs addressed at the Genius Bar. Also expect that everyone you speak to will give you different answers about what the process is, how appointments work, and how long you will need to wait. The one manager we dealt with was arrogant and unhelpful, which clued us in to why the rest of the staff did not have their act together either. I hope they get better management. read more

Went today as my phone better was heating up and after diagnostics I was proposed to give up my iPhone 6 s plus and get a new one!!! I was also told that my newer battery ( changed by the store under that recall from the apple company) in September of 2018 was not any longer under warranty as , supposedly , apple only guaranties 3 month for that new one!!! Such a disappointment from a company that overcharges for its products but when in the same time does not warranty a new installed battery more than 3 months!!! I hope many existing customer will pay attention to this and perhaps switch provider! They might change then and only if a lot of us do it- their policies. read more

The reviews on here made me come here with a horrible outlook and expectation. I'm not sure WHY the reviews are so terrible though. My visit to this store was so smooth and most importantly fast. I damaged my iPhone (again) and had to get a replacement through Apple Care. I got to the store before it opened, checked in without an appointment, went and got some coffee, returned to the store at 10:01am (to beat the bum rush as the doors opened) and was back at my desk at work by 10:17am. Uh so again, why the terrible reviews? If you don't have an appointment, get your ass there early. It's simple. Don't stroll in during peak hours expecting to be served right away. That's just nonsense. Everyone I spoke with at the store (about 6 employees) were super helpful, smiley and friendly. I thought the Apple store in Reston was the one to go to. Never on time - I've had several irritating experiences with this store and never cared to rate, but today I have time. Came in to get my iPad restored for an appointment at 1PM, it's now 1:40 and I just had to remind these employees that I'm even here. No one gave me an update, no one checked on me and I'm sitting right by their employee door. I counted about 25 employees walking around, but apparently there isn't anyone who could've helped me do a simple restore at the time of my appointment. This my was umpteenth visit to the store. I wanted to get an iPad for my mom for her Birthday. I arrived at 3:55 PM on a Sunday afternoon and checked in with the person greeting shoppers near the entrance. I gave him my name and purpose for my visit. He asked me to hang around the iPad area and someone would help me in about 5 minutes. I had questions on the iPad model I wanted and wanted to someone help me decide too. 5 minutes became 10 and 10 became 20 and ultimately after 32 minutes of waiting, I was informed that someone would help me buy the iPad. I had the comparison screen open on on one of the iPads and I wanted his opinion on selecting the correct model. I asked if he could come over, but he stood where he was and asked my what iPad I wanted and he would go to the back and bring it out! This went on a couple of times, and having already waited over 34 minutes at this point, I just picked on and let hime know. I also asked him if he could recommend a cover for the iPad, to which he replied, I could walk over to the back of the store and pick out any cover I wanted!!! So I swallowed any remnants of my pride and walked to the back wall. "Luckily" I found an employee there and approached her to help me decide on a screen cover. She too, repeated the same thing - I was free to chose any cover I wanted! By the time I got back to the place the where employee who was helping me with the iPad, he was already helping someone else and told me I had to wait until he was done with the new customers for him to check me out and complete the sales process. I was going to avail myself of a corporate discount since I my wife (who was with me) works for a company that gets a certain percent off for Apple products. Upon hearing that, he started grilling my wife on the type of work she did for the company and if he could get a job there! I eventually reminded him that our 2 kids were getting antsy and irritated being strapped and stuck in the store for the past 40+ minutes and all I wanted was for him to complete the sales process. He sulked a it and eventually processed the payment and we finally were on our way! From the time it took to meet with a sales person, to the arrogant attitude of the employee, and the non-friendly buying experience, I will buy apple products from third party (Best Buy) or online (Amazon) that stepping foot in an Apple store next time :( read more

During a pandemic, would not allow my husband to pick up my iphone, despite both of us being authorized users on the same AT and T account, having the credit card, id, joint mail, etc. THANKS TYSONS APPLE FOR POTENTIALLY EXPOSING US DURING THIS PANDEMIC. For making my husband wait and instead of allowing him to pick up at express pick up, making him wait for 30 plus minutes while pretending to allow the order to be transferred. Your 1-800 number can't understand why you won't allow him to pick up. Absolutely terrible customer service. Avoid this store and order online. read more

I went here twice and both times had interactions with very helpful and friendly staff. however, the first time i went in, i had a product covered with apple care. i had an internal hardware issue which is supposed to be covered by apple care but the worker said that i damaged the product (which i did not, there was literally zero damage) and i was forced to pay the normal price, making apple care useless since they'll just turn it around on you when it was supposed to be covered. the other time, i had a battery issue with my laptop. i brought it in and they claimed it was more than just the battery and they looked into it which costed $400+ only to later be told that the only issue was a faulty battery. luckily i had warranty so i didnt have to pay it, but something to keep in mind if your product is no longer in the warranty window. read more

After 7 months, my IMac crashed. I brought it in here. The person running the diagnostics showed me the 1,200 cost to replace the broken parts and mentioned that it was great that I was still under warranty, which struck me as strange because after spending 1,500 on a computer I expect it to last longer than 7 months. I returned to pick up my computer after a week and upon arriving home realized that they hadn't reconnected my power cord to the computer. They try, but they are extremely incompetent here. I have had much better experiences in other apple stores. I hope that I never have to waste my time and gas on this store again. read more

Apple users in the house! This store is always packed! The staff are very friendly and attentive, which is a good quality of a service provider store. They go extra miles engaging you with conversation while you wait for the service you need to finish. You will also get to play with their new products and they would be happy to assist you. They also offer workshop on coding, music producing using their products. read more

I have been here just a few times and my experiences never went beyond "Okay". Reason? Well, I'm not a big Apple fan like most out there, and don't go completely nuts when a new product comes out...but honestly? Do not give me a condescending look when I tell you I don't have an Apple account for the whole Itunes thing. They did this to me the first time I got myself an Ipad, and then another time just because I whipped out my Android phone -_- Uhm...what? The Apple Store in the Reston area is much nicer, anyway. At this store I really did not have a good experience. Basically no one helps, just everyone walking around on on IPads typing or sitting doing nothing. They refer to someone, and then someone refers you to someone else, which is weird. Just went in to pick up watch and was there for over 40 minutes and would have been longer if I didn't say anything. To me store seems to be unorganized and needs better customer service. read more

I don't know about anyone else here BUT I LOVED MY EXPERIENCE HERE! I'm new to the iPhone family (6 days) & yesterday my phone screen shattered tragically. I finally understood what my friends felt when they broke their iPhone screens &...it's something I never want to wish on someone. My phone screen shattered & wouldn't turn on. I came as soon as the store opened to schedule a walk-in appointment. I was given a short 25 minute time & I just wandered around the store. 25 minutes goes by quickly when you are surrounded by all this amazing tech. David came to help me & he definitely made the experience. I think his name was "David" if my memory serves me correctly. He was informative every step of the way & was very easy to talk to. After a quick 10-15 minutes, he knew what was wrong with my phone & told me what needed to be done. He told me to come back within 1 hour and when I did...MY PHONE WAS BACK TO NEW! I just want to thank David, Stephanie M., and the guy who checked me out because they seriously are the best! Stephanie & the guy who checked me out gave me recommendations on how to prevent screens shattering & what products I should get to improve my phone's life. THANK YOU GUYS!!!
