I've always loved this location - roomy with a great staff in a great location. I recently needed work done on my beloved MacBook Pro, and they took excellent care. The Genius bar was well run and staffed by very helpful and polite individuals, and my repair (once the issue I did have was remedied) was super quick. The aforementioned issue was that we have ProCare, which means I should have gone right to the front of the repair queue. Despite having them add it to my order 3 times, they did not bump me until I called inquiring about my computer. I would have given them 4 stars due to that, because 3 times really - they should have caught it! But they more than made up for it in fixing the issue with the ProCare card (which caused THEIR issue) and extending our expiration date on it from our date of service. Top notch! read more

I went here twice and both times had interactions with very helpful and friendly staff. however, the first time i went in, i had a product covered with apple care. i had an internal hardware issue which is supposed to be covered by apple care but the worker said that i damaged the product (which i did not, there was literally zero damage) and i was forced to pay the normal price, making apple care useless since they'll just turn it around on you when it was supposed to be covered. the other time, i had a battery issue with my laptop. i brought it in and they claimed it was more than just the battery and they looked into it which costed $400+ only to later be told that the only issue was a faulty battery. luckily i had warranty so i didnt have to pay it, but something to keep in mind if your product is no longer in the warranty window. read more

Apple users in the house! This store is always packed! The staff are very friendly and attentive, which is a good quality of a service provider store. They go extra miles engaging you with conversation while you wait for the service you need to finish. You will also get to play with their new products and they would be happy to assist you. They also offer workshop on coding, music producing using their products. read more

Hanna here at the Apple Store is a treasure. Fixed my MacBook and gave good advice for its care. Didn't have an appointment but only about a 35 minute wait. She got right to the problem, fixed it, ran diagnostics. Also a fun person to hang with! Five star service. Thanks! read more

Place gets a bit crowded. Okay service except I've had bad experiences. Once I tried to buy an iphone and this hairy, fat employee was a jerk. He needed my ID and I gave him a government issued one and he didn't accept it, being the ahole that he is. Other places, employees didn't care, but he just wanted to be asss about it because he didn't want to do his job. Next time, tried to get my iPhone replaced and the "genius" bar ended up taking my sim card and the sim on my iPhone wasn't activated. Not the best I've been to. read more

For this review, I am focusing mostly on the Genius Bar. As a technology enthusiast, I have had my share of Apple products that, needless to say, break from time to time. I have been to the Genius Bar here a few times for my iPhones and my Macbook Pro. Most of the times I came, it was so busy that I just left and scheduled an appointment for later. Upon coming back, I would be greeted warmly by an employee, and they are quick to see me. I particularly like this Apple Store because for several of the problems I have had with my iPhone, I didn't think they would just simply replace it. Here, they did, no questions asked. I especially liked that part - opportunity to replace my semi-broken device with a brand new one on the spot. The other instance with my Macbook Pro went smoothly as well. I had to have my trackpad fixed, and the turnaround time was only a few days (2 days?). I am happy with the service I have received here, and while their name is cheesy, they definitely provided me with the "genius" I needed to get my stuff fixed. read more

This place is alright, I don't mind a crowd but it's just frustrating when there's a ton of teenagers just messing around with the computers doing nothing making a bunch of noise sometimes. I just don't like that, aside from that there's always an employee who will ask if you need help with something and if you need to make an appointment than they will get that done for you which is great. Although they are sometimes late on the schedule times, they always manage to get things done. I needed help with an ipad replacement problem and it was really easy and quick. So I liked that. The employees are nice and well mannered and won't push or rush you to get anything. This is my preferred Apple store by far and I will continue to come here when ever I have a problem. read more

Living in Woodbridge, this is my go-to Apple Store in the DC Metro area. Yes, it's crowded almost all the time. There's people everywhere. But it's still a much better shopping experience than, say, Best Buy or HH Gregg. I've made purchases in-store, picked up on-line orders, and used the Genius Bar on multiple occasions. The staff has always been courteous, efficient, and gotten me in and out of the store quickly. The online orders I've picked up in store have always been ready by the time I show up at the store for pick-up. I give the sales person my order confirmation, and they bring me a pile of my stuff with their copy of my order slip taped to it. I bought an iPhone this way, and was in and out of the store in 15 minutes, including the time spent activating the phone in-store. My experience with the Genius Bar has been that that they are quick and courteous once you get in front of them. The one repair (on a MacBook) that wasn't a straight-up equipment swap was completed in 5 and a half hours (against the promised 4-5 day turn-around). I dropped off the laptop at 11AM (on a Saturday no less) and had a voicemail indicating it was ready for pickup at 4:30PM. An iPhone swap was accomplished in 40 minutes (counting the time I spent waiting for iCloud to finish syncing up the new phone). Some pointers in response to other critques of this store: If you're coming to the store for a specific purpose (order or repair pickup, buying a MacBook, etc.) make it known to the Concierge immediately when "touched" on your arrival. Fail to do so and the sales floor staff will assume you're just kicking the tires, and intentionally not bother you too much. The Apple retail site (http://www.apple.com/retail/) as well as the Apple Store iOS app allow you to make a Genius Bar appointment before leaving for the store. The Genius Bar is busy; spend your time doing something else useful instead of waiting. Using this method, I can arrive 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment time, be attended to by a Genius within a few minutes of my arrival, and be out of the store in under an hour. read more

Don't deal with DJ his customer attitude sucks! His body language was already hostile and verbally he is a 'can't' do personality. Should not be allowed to be customers facing. Wrong job! read more

At this store I really did not have a good experience. Basically no one helps, just everyone walking around on on IPads typing or sitting doing nothing. They refer to someone, and then someone refers you to someone else, which is weird. Just went in to pick up watch and was there for over 40 minutes and would have been longer if I didn't say anything. To me store seems to be unorganized and needs better customer service. read more

Alyssa and May took such good care of me and my daughter. When my daughter's contacts weren't showing up on the loaner phone, or anywhere else, they went above and beyond to figure out a way to get them from her repair-needed phone. This not tech-savvy mama is beyond grateful! read more

The store smells like a middle school locker room The "geniuses" I spoke with were condescending as heck and unwilling to talk about my problem, leaving me to ask most of the diagnostic questions myself. Wouldn't even consider the problems I was having and wrote them off as "weird". For some reason, the three women I've interacted with in the past at least are courteous and polite and all five of the men I've spoken with have a tendency to talk down to me. hmm Definitely not worth talking to a bunch of rude dudes, when I can get info off the web with less 'tude. read more

Nothing genius about apple. I am an iphone 5 owner that has problem. The issue with all genius team in apple stores is that they have no clue about any apple products. The only thing that they can do is to connect you apple device to apple server somewhere and give you the result. I have been told that I need to reset my apple iphone 5 completely and I should not use my backup to recover my iphone contents. I have to start from scratch and add everything manually. It seems that apple products have two modes, either it works fine, or reformat everything and start from scratch and most probably lose everything. It does not seem smart at all and it seems like a rip off. can someone tell me why apple products and service is so superior? read more

I don't know about anyone else here BUT I LOVED MY EXPERIENCE HERE! I'm new to the iPhone family (6 days) & yesterday my phone screen shattered tragically. I finally understood what my friends felt when they broke their iPhone screens &...it's something I never want to wish on someone. My phone screen shattered & wouldn't turn on. I came as soon as the store opened to schedule a walk-in appointment. I was given a short 25 minute time & I just wandered around the store. 25 minutes goes by quickly when you are surrounded by all this amazing tech. David came to help me & he definitely made the experience. I think his name was "David" if my memory serves me correctly. He was informative every step of the way & was very easy to talk to. After a quick 10-15 minutes, he knew what was wrong with my phone & told me what needed to be done. He told me to come back within 1 hour and when I did...MY PHONE WAS BACK TO NEW! I just want to thank David, Stephanie M., and the guy who checked me out because they seriously are the best! Stephanie & the guy who checked me out gave me recommendations on how to prevent screens shattering & what products I should get to improve my phone's life. THANK YOU GUYS!!! YOU ARE SERIOUSLY THE BEST!!! read more

For a brand that charged $1200 for a smart phone yet they won't invest to smarten up their tech/rep to have better manners and customer service...what a shame! We lined up for 5 hours just to wait (even though we have an appt) to get our battery check to see if our battery has gone bad; ok checked it's bad and they will order a battery and will be ready in 1 week and will call us for an appt to get battery replaced. A week came and gone and we didn't hear from them so we called back, after 45 min waiting on the phone we were informed that they are super back up so our battery won't be ready until 3 months later. 2.5 months later an email came to let us know the battery is ready for us and gave us an appt to come to get our battery replaced. We came and of course another hour waiting. An hour later, it's going to be another 30min. 30 min later a tech came out, "we can't replaced your battery because there is dry water marks on the phone, we can replace that part for $329". My question: why can't you informed me this an hour and half ago? His reply "we have things to do and we are busy and it's not your turn yet" Dear Apple, buy your tech rep some manners and communication skill. Also please don't waste your customers time just because your products are user friendly and well liked. What's the point of making an appt when I still have to wait for hours? read more

Aside from being very busy at all times of the day (doesn't any one work in McLean!?!?!), they were very helpful. My iPhone 3G has been freezing, acting up and not responding as quickly as I would think. After dealing with this malfunctioning iPhone for a few weeks, I finally took it into the store to get some answers. I had to track down someone to help me and instead of immediately reserving a time slot at the Genius Bar he listened to me and made a few adjustments to my settings to help it run faster and then he had to set me up with an appointment with the Genius Bar because it still needed additional TLC. I returned an hour later for my appointment and waited about 5 minutes and was then called to the Bar. My "Genius" listened to me, checked out my phone. He gave it a cleaning and then took it to the back of the store to check out the cleanliness situation behind the faceplate. He was gone for about 4 minutes. When he returned, he said I was good to go and returned my phone to me. He said there was a lot of lint behind the faceplate and instead of just cleaning it and sending me on my way, he replaced the faceplate. He went beyond the mainstream and made sure I was completely satisfied with my phone. He explained what happened and how to avoid it next time. I knew there was a reason I have gone to the Mac side! read more

I have been to a lot of Apple stores, and I have to sat, this is the first one that seemed big enough to hold all the people in there and also, happily, the first one that didn't smell really horribly bad! My husband wanted to check out the new apple TV, and right away we were able to get assistance. Within a few moments, we realized that the store clerk was not quite as familiar with the product as we would have hoped, but hubs had done enough research on it anyway, so he was able to tinker around with it a bit. At this point, the amount of water I had been drinking today caught up to me, so I excused myself for a moment - and even though I returned in less than five minutes, apparently that was all it took for the hubs to make his decision - he had his nice little white Apple bag in hand, and we were ready to go! So, maybe it was just a fluke, but after today's experience, I learned this: if you want a cleaner, emptier and fresher smelling experience in the Apple store, try Sunday afternoons! read more

4.5 stars! Every Apple Store I have ever been to, has been crowded. Now that you've been warned, let's talk about the store itself. It's organized and you can noodle around on all the fully loaded AirMacs, iMacs and iPods to your heart's content-- without being persuaded to buy one. Service is pretty attentive, but it may not always be quick (to reiterate: if it's crowded and you're there to get something repaired, make an appointment ahead of time and count on a wait). When you do finally get around to speaking with a "Genius", they're usually very patient and have been really nice in entertaining my many, countless questions about my iPhone, iPhone or Mac. Win. read more

Definitely one of the much, much better Apple store locations I have been to... Montgomery Mall Apple Store - take note! The store was crowded, as can be expected of any Apple retail store, but definitely not as much so as the Mont. Mall one I usually go to... perhaps this is because the store appears to be larger in size, but I also observed that people didn't seem to hog the products as much at this Tyson's Corner store. I went in to purchase my first Macbook for college, and was immediately helped out by a very patient and knowledgeable Genius - she was THE best. Her name slips my mind now, but she has streaks of blue in her hair, so she should be easy to find ;) She wasn't pushy at all when I expressed my concern of switching from PC over to Mac, and even told me all the benefits to staying with a PC while explaining the advantages and disadvantages to a Mac... now that's a true objective opinion I was happy to hear. She gave me as much time as I needed to browse and when I was finally ready to make a purchase, it was so simple and our merchandise was brought out promptly. She made sure that I was aware of every service and policy available, but again, never pushed them on me. Would gladly come back any day :) read more

Let me just say I love Apple stores. Now that's that is out of the way, let's move on. This store has a good amount of space, including the back area set up for lectures and trainings. With many roaming sales people, getting in and out quickly can actually happen. And now on to the bad. I won an iPhone in a poker tournament and began having issues with it after the first 3 months. When I was home over Thanksgiving, I came made an appointment at the Genius bar (trust me, the irony of this title can't begin to be explained.) The woman told me she'd try charging it, (because I couldn't) and had me sit for a while. After about half an hour, she checked back and (surprise, surprise) it hadn't charged. We had a slight argument (I wanted to leave with a new one, she wanted to run diagnostics, even though it wouldn't charge). She gave in and I got my new phone (no problems so far). Other small issue is the size of this place. I live in NYC now, I'm spoiled. (Sue me). That is the only reason for the knock of 2 stars. Be sure to check out the humongous montiors. I think their biggest clocks in around 32". Dear lord... read more

The very first AppleStore to open in the planet. I still remember my first time there on the opening, in year 2000. Today, it looks like it lost some of the appeal and huge product selection. Location is very nica on a good mall. Staff is helpful and very fast to help. read more

I've been a Samsung user for years. That being said I switched to the IPhone X about 5 months ago because the rest of my family has them. It was a hard switch at the time. My iPhone was giving me some issues with the touch screen so I made an appointment to get it checked out at the Tyson's corner store. When I returned to pick it up they told me that they could not replace the screen because the screws where stripped and they didn't want to damage the phone. My assumption was that I would just have to take my phone and deal with the issues. To my surprise the Apple rep brought out a brand new iPhone X and told there was no charge. Apple just completely brought me over to the dark side today. I will always buy iPhone from this day forward, Samsung would never have done this. Thank you all at the Tyson's corner Apple Store. read more

Very racist location. The store employees at this location do not treat non-white customers with the same respect and dignity that they treat their white patrons. Lack of assistance, lack of courteousness and respect when speaking to persons of color... the Tysons Corner Apple Store appears to have low regard for ethnic minorities and are very discriminatory in their practices. Employees at all levels here are rude, aggressive, condescending and unprofessional. I wouldn't expect this from any Apple Store. I will never shop here again. read more

I normally go to this store to purchase most of my products and have always been met with kind employees as well as very knowledgeable ones. Granted, there have been couple times where the staffs just stand around or have been rude but overall, it's not too bad lately. I went to purchase two earbuds and a staff had taken care to stop by and asked I needed assistance, offering to help me with checkout when I was done. Unfortunately, he was quickly busy with another customer so I had to find someone else. I went up to two staffs that were infront of the door who were conversing with one another and stopped to greet me and ask me if I needed helped when they saw me. Both of the staffs were kind and helpful, one had even made small talk with me, emphasizing with me about earbud replacement - I enjoy this Apple store more so than the Fair Oaks (each time I went there, the staffs seemed rush and impatient with you) as the staffs always make sure to put a smiling face and are eager to help when you ask them for something. read more

I love this Apple Store! I get the outstanding assistance. Whenever I go there I ask for Jonathan Huitzacua. Jonathan is fantastic. He is probably the most knowledgeable, professional, personable Apple assistant I have ever met. Jonathan takes his time and recommends the best product for me. He never tries to push anything on me that I do not need/want. If I need technical assistance - he's the best! He explains everything in a way that I can understand. He takes all the time I need and he always solves my technical issues. If he moves to another store, so will I! read more

Of all the Apple Stores in the DC area, this one is definitely my favorite. I've consistently had great experiences customer service-wise, and it also has cool points for being the first ever Apple Store in the world to open its doors. Also, I love using the private bathrooms at this location! They're private, so you can drop the kids off at the pool in peace, then resume browsing all of the accessories you're never going to buy. NOTE: If you go on a weekend, it WILL be busy. Guaranteed. Do not expect to stroll in and receive service immediately. It's best to visit on weekdays. read more

Rohan Siddhanti, Cornell University: I don't own any Apple products besides an iPod, which I bought years ago, so that I think I am a fairly unbiased resource. This store understands that due to it's location, there are predictable times when it will face extreme overflow, and will have to deal with large crowds, and large orders all wanting the same product. As such, it continually adjusts its displays, products, and number of employees to adapt to the needs of the consumer. Being the only Apply store in the Tysons Corner area, this is certainly a plus. During peak hours, they will have more employees than necessary walking around, asking if anyone needs help. Additionally, they always overstock on the popular products of the moment, so as to not run out. Lastly, they make checking out as easily as possible, as they have people who are mobile registers that can take your credit on one of their hand-held machines. read more

I had a Genius Bar appointment but arrived a little later due to the horrid Tyson's Corner traffic, but the staff still happily checked me in and placed me on a queue. Not bad. Unfortunately, prices are high and Apple always puts things they are about to stop selling on sale and when you buy it it's outdated in no time. That's because of Apple HQ and the CEOs in charge, not employees of stores. read more

Went in for a problem with my macbook and iphone 4s. My macbook is several years old and the genius that helped me provided me many different options for dealing with the issue I am having. He basically suggested that I just wait it out since it wasn't a major issue and could end up a very costly repair. As far as my phone goes, it was a hardware issue that cannot be fixed. They happily swapped my phone out and helped me with the back up and restoring of the new device. I was extremely pleased with their level of customer service and very thorough walk throw of everything they were doing. I would highly recommend this store for any apple product. read more

Customer service good not great. People were attentive as soon as I walked in the door and my genius appt was taken on time. Went to the Apple Store to pick up an Apple Watch for my brother. The store wasn't very busy but we got our names placed on the list for an employee to help us. After what seemed like a very long time, some guy walks up to us, turns around and starts making small talk with random female customers for a good 5-10 mins. We're just standing there in the meantime. The girl that initially checked us in comes by and asks the guy, Sam, if he's helping us, to which he mutters yes and then proceeds to start helping two OTHER random girls that just walk in and proclaim they want to buy a watch. He rings them up and is extra extra chatty so the same girl that checked us in comes by AGAIN and asked if he was helping us. He says yes and then proceeds to be the most rude, uninterested, useless person I have ever encountered in my years of dealing with Apple. He orders the wrong thing, makes no eye contact, and then goes back to talking it up with the ladies that decided they weren't gonna wait in a line. At that point, I lost it and we decided we were going to take our business elsewhere. Thankfully, the lady who checked us in (I can't remember her name but she was African American with longish hair and super super super nice) intervened and took over. Apple is lucky to have someone with such great customer service skills because if it wasn't for her, we would've left for sure. Sam, on the other hand, is a customer service nightmare and should be avoided--unless you're a fairly attractive scantily dressed female, in which case you'll probably get plenty of *great* service from him. read more
