From a customer perspective, this location is pretty pain-free. From reservations to off-the-shelf purchases, they all go fine. They've even hooked me up with some pretty friendly discounts with school and work over the years without me asking, so I've appreciated the heads up. From a service perspective, this location definitely has gone hill a bit. I'm not too sure if it's a census issue, but it feels like nowadays Genius Bar has twice the customers with only 2/3 of the available team members. Doesn't matter if I show up 30 minutes early for my appointment, somehow I'll still get somehow 30 minutes past my appointment, sometimes even behind walk-ins who came after me. Time for service also seems to have gone up. When I'm dropping off stuff for repairs, doesn't really matter to me if it takes days or weeks. But simple things like battery swaps have somehow gone from 1 hour waits to 3 hour waits for first time morning appointments, it's insane. I'll keep going cuz I have Apple Care and often times it's more free than not. But if it weren't for this location being in a mall, I wouldn't be a frequent flyer at all. read more

The Tysons Apple Store reviews are BAD so I went to Microcenter. I made a Microcenter appointment for a "Consultation" at their "Knowledge Bar". I arrived to find there was NO Knowledge Bar & NO Consultation. There was just a clueless guy who offered to take my computer & have someone call me in 3 Days (maybe). I went home angry & made a "Genius" Appointment at the Apple Store. At The Apple Store, I was greeted immediately by Alan (Manager). He was nice & helpful. My "Genius" (Megan) was on time. She was smart & good with people. My problem was resolved & I got answers for a zillion questions. I went home in a good mood and better educated. My Laptop is running great. Thanks. read more

I bought a pop socket from here 2 months ago. It broke about a month after I bought it. I went into the store and they had me wait for a "genius" to come and look at it and make an assessment... then they said they couldn't even do anything about it and I'd have to file for a replacement with the company. I bought the item from this store. They can't be held responsible for selling me a faulty product? Absolute waste of time. read more

Reservation is a joke at this Apple store. My recent Vision Pro reservation experience at this Apple Store was extremely disappointing. Despite checking in 5 minutes early, I was left waiting for 20 minutes before anyone assisted me. When a Vision Pro specialist finally arrived, he appeared unprofessional and unprepared, he didn't even know how to connect the iPad to the Vision Pro headset. Worse, he seemed rushed and distracted, frequently checking his watch as if he couldn't wait for the appointment to end. This reservation was supposed to be 30 minutes long, and I should've been able to try the device myself. Instead, he didn't let me interact with it properly, and I only got to use it for about 10 minutes. I watched two short videos before he claimed there was a technical issue and told me I should come back another time. all while still checking his watch. This is not the level of service I expect from Apple, especially for a product that requires hands-on experience to evaluate read more

Arrived here for a quick online order pickup of the new Apple Watch SE, right before closing time. It sure was busy, with the new Apple products rolling out (e.g watches, phones, etc). Despite being pretty busy, pickup was a breeze, as the customer service was great. The products were ready in the back, and the Apple rep brought it out with a nice bag in quick fashion. The missus got me an Apple Watch, and I'm thrilled to be using it again. Had a legacy version from Target, but returned it due to lack of use. The SE model will surely be a useful timepiece/multifunction extension of my iPhone, but I'm digressing. Apple is certainly a great store to play around with new products, but more importantly the staff, Genius Bar, and over customer service is stupendous! read more

First time coming in the store as I usually do stuff online. I wanted to come in person because I work for local government & knew that I get some sort of discount (along with the military) - score & mucho appreciated! There was a gentleman at the door with a box of masks & although they don't require it, the majority of peeps were wearing them, it seemed like the right thing to do was to join them. They were jammin around 2pm & I had to seek someone out to ask for help & she's politely informed me they were slammed & couldn't see me till 4:15 so I made an appointment & went to eat a late lunch. I came back at 4:15 and it was much calmer. I was instantly greeted & then within seconds JJ came to assist me. In less than 10 minutes I was in & out, lol. Might've been partly because I knew exactly what I wanted but JJ was amazing, nonetheless! He was super friendly, helpful, & gracious & got me well taken care of with my MacBook Pro for my son's bday gift. JJ was truly just a pleasure to deal with & they are lucky to have him because he is amazing with his customer service. Thank you SO MUCH! BONUS: they have a promo right now for free AirPods on qualifying purchases & yes, I qualified whoop whoop! ;) read more

Pre-ordered a new iPhone as soon as they became available (need a camera upgrade) and made an appt for the following Friday at 9:30 am. Arrived shortly after my appointment time and was thankfully able to avoid the long line that was waiting for the store to open at 10 am and was brought into the store in about 5 minutes. Tionna (manager) is sharp, quick thinking, kind, friendly, easy going and clearly knows what she is doing! She is Black girl magic at its finest! Ole dude (not really old but I didn't get his name) wasn't trying to help me change my payment method for the new phone. Tionna overheard my request and did her best to instruct ole dude on how to help me after he told me it was too late to change to a payment method. Maybe he is new. And, please don't start out by saying what can't be done! It sounds lazy! Tionna figured out how to address my issue quickly and sent me on my way on to the Verizon store on the other end of the mall to get my eSIM card activated. Thanks Tionna! read more

What can I say about Apple that hasn't been said.... Probably nothing. But, I would like to highlight the really cool encounter I had with a sweet and knowledgeable Apple associate name Rama (sorry if I misspelled). My phone's camera seemed as if it wasn't capturing color correctly. This issue set the stage for me to meet Rama. She tested the phone and provided me with great advice as to how I can improve my color accuracy as well as other cool features. Now that's pretty standard, right! What wasn't so standard is her disposition. Rama was sweet, cool, nice, cheerful, patient and funny all at once. We did photo sessions with one another to test the camera's performance. She gave me permission to use her photo for this review. So long story short ... Thanks Rama for being so cool, and to Apple management, you have an amazing associate on your team. Now please see Rama in her pic. read more

Nice greeter to start the process of sitting and waiting and waiting. Appointments are required but I guess they don't have to show up on time. This should be a 2-way street. Respect and value my time. As many of us, I have a ton of apple devices so I'm not going anywhere but the service is not good. Store is packed but not super crazy. They cost me to lose a client, and nearly $6000 of potential business. I allowed myself plenty of time for them to repair my phone, was extremely patient and kind with them only to be given back a phone that now didn't work on the cellular function. I had to cancel on a client last minute, and then the next day I had issues with my phone again, resetting with everything. I realize this may be first world problems to some people, but my entire business revolves around my phone. If you are like me, do not go to the store. They do not adequately train their employees and have absolutely incompetent management staff. I wish I could say otherwise, but all I saw during more than 2 1/2 hours they're waiting for my phone were employees just standing around aimlessly and not helping anyone. It was painful to watch as I run a business myself. You should never ever trust this store for anything. Avoid it at all costs! I normally shop from that store, but when I went there few days ago to return a couple of accessories that I had bought for my Apple watch I was treated really badly. The guy who said his name was Fred gave me hell b/c he couldn't or didn't know how to match one of my receipts with my credit card. He was very aggressive, rude offensive and unprofessional. When I asked to speak to the manager he claimed he was the manager. And when I asked if I could do the return with another staff he got angry and asked me to leave the store and called the security. I was totally shocked of the way he was behaving, especially from someone who claims to be the manager. This type of people with such a bad attitude should not be working at Apple stores. They make the whole store to look bad. I would never go back to that store as long as that guy ("Fred") is working there. The next day I went to Arlington Apple store and returned the items without any issues, and in fact the gentleman who took care of the return for me was very nice, polite and professional. read more

Personally I would love to leave no stars whatsoever but unfortunately that's not an option. This place is the definition of pathetic. It is insanely busy at all times, they don't know what they are doing, basically if you want to torture yourself hop in the car and go here. I needed them to give me a new phone with the same number and switch me from Verizon to AT&T. I get home to finally start setting my phone up. Why wait, you may ask. Well that would be because after a visit there I never wanted to look at a phone again. Not a single part of the process was completed correctly. As I said pathetic. read more

This store is getting worse. Today's example, Apple Tyson's self-proclaimed "Express Checkout" is anything but "express." Store employees (including at least three I see now standing around talking to each other -- two of whom sent me to this line) used to check you out anywhere in the store, on the spot. Now they push you thru ("into" might be better a better word, "thru" implies movement) this line. Terrible idea -- especially manned by *one employee.* Officially = much worse customer service. Big issue: half the people in line have questions about pairing devices, "what phone should I choose" (not joking -- thankfully that customer was the one after me in line), etc. Really slows things down. For these prices you can do a lot better, Apple.* *FWIW the employee at checkout was helpful and apologized for the wait. read more

macOS Monterey was corrupted and I was directed to this store after 6 hrs of online consultation with apple agent. The reinstallation was ok so 5 stars to the actual guy who fixed it, I was happy at that moment. So as long as your machine is fixed you are Golden. My experience turned sour when the Genius Bar minion tried to explain why I shud have not brought the machine in for hardware checkup. So I explained- When an online apple service specialist could not help me reinstall the macOS, that's when she redirected me to bring it to store have its hardware checked. Then the Genius Bar kid, first tries to convince me that my bkup is corrupted and then tries to tell me that hardware has no issue so I should have not brought it in. Told him that my backup had no issue as I used that to reimagine another backup Mac I had. So he looked dumb. The Sales Reps are well behaved because they want ur dollars, but the Genius Bar or I now call them "Heinous" Bar people are just talk out of their ass, take their advice at face value and google it out throughly. I could finally resolve it after consulting a forum at reddit. read more

How to destroy brand loyalty in 3 easy steps. A case study from the Apple Store in Tysons Corner, Virginia. 1. Provide false information 2. Create a major problem based on this false information 3. Do nothing to help resolve the issue My family has been completely loyal to Apple since 2012. Since then we've owned at least 10 iPhones, 3 iPods, 4 iPads, 4 AirPods, a MacBook, 4 Apple Watches, an iMac, an Apple home pod. We didn't even think to buy another brand until we encountered this store. We are Americans working overseas. We get back to the U.S. once or twice a year. In October 2023, my wife was in DC and visited the Tysons Corner (Virginia) Apple Store to buy an iPhone 15 Pro for our daughter. She is very detail oriented and asks all necessary questions before making a purchase. When she learned that the iPhone 15 Pro has only eSim capability (i.e. no physical SIM) she asked "If our overseas carrier does not support eSim technology, can I return it to a store near where we live?" The sales assistant answered "Yes, it can be returned to any store". With that information, my wife confidently bought the $1300+ phone". When she got back to where we live (I'm leaving out names and places to protect PII), we learned that our carrier does not support eSim technology. As such we called the store (which is about 2 hours by car from our house) only to find that a phone bought in the US, can only be returned in the US. We then called to the Tysons Corner store the explain the situation. We worked with a person (who I believe was the store manager) who was apologetic that the employee gave the wrong information, then proceeded to avoid doing anything to fix the situation, even to go as far as suggesting the we bother someone we know in the U.S., spend our money on FedEx to send to that person, so that they can spend their time returning the phone, all so she could avoid doing anything to help the situation that her employee caused. After our initial phone conversation, she said she would research it and get back to us. Over the next week, at least two of my emails went unanswered (not even an acknowledgement of receipt). She finally returned my email over a week later to attach a screenshot of a policy which didn't even address the situation. "Standard Return Policy: ... -Products can be returned only in the country or region in which they were originally purchased". In my return email, I explained that we are trying to return it to Tysons Corner and we only need a pre-paid FedEx or DHL label to send it, which would have maybe cost $75 maximum. So, over a simple $75 she was willing to stick us with a $1300 phone which we could not use. As such, I would like to introduce you to the newest part of our family communications: our daughter's new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5. Well done, Tysons Corner, in not wanting to lift a finger to solve a major issue you caused . . . and, at the same time, destroying 10+ years of brand loyalty. Bravo! read more

Buying Apple products from Apple Stores is probably the worse financial decision. You don't get any of the benefits such as extended warranty or extended return period that other retailers offer, you're paying full price without any discounts for the same product in same condition. At least get the 15% employee discount. The employees here are very rude, especially the younger college-age employees. They will try to sell you on anything you don't need.
