1st Experience: So disappointing! I decided to shop in-store instead of online because it was my first big girl purchase and I wanted the in-store experience. I had made an appointment prior and still had to wait maybe 15 minutes. The Apple genius also had a big attitude and condescending tone, which was what started to make my experience not as good. After I had made my order, she informed me there were no more bags! That was the whole reason I came to the store in the first place. I wanted the full shopping experience. There were some smaller bags, which she shoved my iPad into. Then the bag ended up ripping. If I had known better, I would've ordered online and even gotten an engraving. 2nd Experience: My MacBook was displaying that the battery needed service. I made an appointment and was helped in around 10 minutes. The geniuses this time were kind. They told me the full service would take around a week. I came home with my laptop to back it up and returned the next day to drop it off. I was without my MacBook for almost the whole school week which was tough. I could not physically pick it up and they allowed my parent to pick it up on behalf of me. The replacement was pricey but not as much as a brand new laptop. This was a better experience. read more

My fairly new Mac computer had a slight issue closing. So what does this blond woman at the Apple Store in Pasadena say to me? She says "You need to buy a new computer." I went to Alice Computers and they fixed it for free. Then I was a couple of minutes late to a Genius Bar appointment for a different issue. The lethargic guy I talked to, black hair, said, "too bad, we have to put you at the back of the line, your wait is going to be an hour." This guy's unwillingness to help just oozed out of his pores. My wife and I spent three hours trying to get AirDrop to work. We tried every darn thing that was suggested by Apple's website: free up space, make sure WiFi is on, make sure Bluetooth is on, you name it. We tried putting our phones together and turning on "Everyone for ten minutes" even though we're both in each other's contacts. Never worked, and I called Apple and no one answered. Maybe Tim Cook should spend time trying to fix this problem rather than going to the White House to give Trump an award for not imposing tariffs on Apple. A simple exchange of an iPhone 17 for an iPhone Max turned into a five-hour ordeal. I arrived at the Pasadena store at 3:30 p.m. on a weekday with no lines, yet I didn't leave until 8:30. Several specialists, including the salesgirl, gave dismissive excuses, insisted long transfer times were normal, said they would check on it, and never returned. Hours went by. Finally, Ethan stepped in. He discovered the phone had actually been ready much earlier, but no one had "flipped" it or marked it in the system. Even more concerning, my exchange hadn't been recorded at all. Had I not clarified it myself, I would have walked out with two phones. At a high-end store, wasted hours are usually compensated. Here, there was none. Apple may still make great products, but the Pasadena store's service has deteriorated to a level that left me frustrated and exhausted. I won't be back. read more

I'm unbelievably heartbroken by the experience I had here. I'm a tattoo artist, I have an iPad and an Apple Pencil. I know how they work very very well. I've been an Apple product user my whole life so I'm pretty knowledgeable about their tech. But the issue I was having with both my iPad and pencil was beyond my knowledge. So I sought help from apple, thinking they'd know how to help me. The man that helped me, very nice, kind, polite, whatever. Did his job. BUT his knowledge on how to resolve my issue is what went wrong. He had ZERO idea on how to help me, and instead of sucking in his pride and finding someone who potentially knew how to, he thought the dumbest thing ever, "let's factory reset your iPad and and see if it works after that" like????? What???? And unfortunately when doing that, procreate doesn't have any way to save your projects so I lost YEARS of work and drawings. Once my iPad finished resetting, it still wasn't working, so not only was I disappointed with the fact that he couldn't fix it, but I also lost all of my work in the process of it all when I know it didn't need to be like that. So I left, sobbing because iPads and Apple pencils are expensive and a lot of my old work was gone forever. When I got home though, I played around with my iPad a bit more and ended up fixing it myself. Moral of this story, don't go to Apple to fix your things, some of the people there only know how to turn it off and on and blow on it to see if that'll fix the issue. Figure it out yourself or go through Reddit. I'm so heartbroken about this, I will be for a really really long time, I hope that worker sees this so he can learn from this experience and gain some more knowledge on how to help people like me rather than do what he did and then try to sell me on a new device. read more

Waited at the Genius Bar for 90 minutes. There was no screen display on my Apple Watch. The technician checked for maybe less than 15 seconds and said that it will cost ($300) to fix.. and offer offered free recycling if decided to buy a new watch. Disappointed, went home and set the watch aside on the counter. After three days picked up the watch, and to my surprise the display was back on by itself. It seemed to me that the tech just pretended to check. If he had really checked the problem could have been solved right then and there. read more

But a young man, later identified as Dion M. Spotted me and came to my rescue. I told him my issue with password and he said that It was more of a yahoo issue. Then said, let me see what I can do to help you. I am so pleased, Dion did everything to getting the codes, to entering them and to finally helping me to gain access to my mail! Yay!! Slow, disorganized, chaotic, inattentive. Came in here twice over the past two weeks to try to buy something. Waited a long time to get noticed both times without success. Tried ordering it online to at least get it through the online pickup but then waited a very long time to get it put together and brought out. Basically this is a glorified show room - I don't recommend coming here to buy anything that isn't pre-ordered well in advance, although it's ok enough for that since at least there's a clear process (I did that once for a different order, pretty slow compared to other Apple stores I've been to but at least I eventually got it). Both times I came in to try and buy something without pre-order I ended up waiting so long I just bailed and ordered on Amazon. To be clear it wasn't that busy - there's just no order or organization to how the store functions. At least now I know not to ever bother with the store though and always order for online delivery. read more

My phone glitched out & I couldn't turn it on. I went to my carrier T-Mobile & they were able to turn it on. They suggested since my phone is still fully covered by Apple Care; I take my phone to Apple Store & have them run diagnostic test. I went to the Pasadena Apple Store. I was checked immediately & was sent to the back to await service. Maureen was my advisor & she immediately looked at my phone. I explained why I came in & she took me thru the whole process without difficulty & ease. Maureen made me feel comfortable & assured me thru it all. Her attitude is both easy going & hip. She addressed all my questions & showed me how to tricks in the event my phone has the same problem. My phone checkout ok & all was good with it. Apple sold me a brand new MacBook Air in July 2023. Unfortunately, it stopped holding a charge on January 2024 and would die when unplugged. The Genius Bar initially diagnosed it as just needing a firmware update but after leaving it overnight, they determined that it looked like it needed a logic board replacement which would cost $540. That didn't make sense to me at all given that this computer was never dropped or had liquids spilled on it. Although the employees at the Genius Bar and Apple Support acknowledged that this isn't normal, and that they would be upset if their fairly new laptop stopped working properly after 18 months, they said that only Apple Support could waive the repair fee as they couldn't do it on their end. After being escalated to a senior advisor at Apple Support, they basically said that they can't do anything since it's out of the 1-year warranty and just said I should have bought the extra AppleCare at time of purchase. I have had many MacBooks over the years and they were reliable but Apple is now different. They no longer care about doing the right thing for their customers and they are cutting corners as reliability is nonexistent, which helps their bottom line. Extremely disappointed and no longer an Apple fan. I would recommend a Razer laptop for those looking for a premium laptop that is reliable and includes great customer support. read more

Takes at least 20 minutes a d probably only 1 staff to help even with simple question. Worse, no rest room is available. Huge store right in the heart of Pasadena. I frequent this Apple location because their customer service is always consistent and above average. If possible, make an appointment online at the Genius Bar to save time. Over the years this location has assisted me with issues on my iPhone and most recently with my MacBook Pro. I had to have the battery replaced on my MacBook and I was very impressed with the entire transaction. I made the appointment, showed up, was greeted and assisted almost immediately. The tech diagnosed the issue, gave me a quote, and an estimated time of service completion. My MacBook was repaired one day ahead of schedule and the communication was excellent on all counts. I ordered a laptop charger online and scheduled an early morning pickup. The pickup process was fast and the customer service was good. The parking situation for this particular Apple store can be crazy, seeing as though they are right in the middle of downtown Pasadena. Street parking can be difficult. Luckily, I went when they first opened so I was able to quickly park in the loading zone, run in to grab my order, and quickly leave. read more

The store told me they don't accept returns of accessories. Then I called customer service and to return a bad case you have to jump through hoops and beg for a refund! The case is guaranteed for a year if purchased at an Apple Store however you need to complete a claim form, send a copy of your receipt and take pictures! All that for a $60 phone case? I was just here today i had one issue with my phone it just needed to be restored to a factory setting. They made me an appointment for the genius bar and waited about 40 mins and then waited for them to help me when i was finally attended to they brought out a computer and plugged it in it disconnected twice and were feeding me false information telling me there was something wrong with my motherboard on my phone and wanted me to pay for the logic board ? i ended up going home borrowing a mac book from my friend and it worked first try no problems and the wifi was faster at home - long story short don't come here unless you absolutely are sure they're able to help you. you're better off just going to a regular cellphone repair store and their service is probably better. read more

When I purchased an apple studio display from Best Buy, I had never imagined that it would be a problem getting it serviced at Apple. They are after all, an authorized apple retailer. Today, I called Apple at Pasadena to inquire about the cost and length of time it would take to convert my tilt adjustable stand to a vesa mount. Not only did they refuse to give me an answer to either, when I asked them how do I decide if I want a service if I don't know how much it will cost me, they simply said that was policy. I was willing to pay for something that every single other monitor lets you do yourself, for free. I was denied service because I bought my studio display from Best Buy and not Apple themselves. That is quite frankly the most anti competitive reason I've ever heard. I was told explicitly, all of this recorded over the phone, that if I bought from Apple themselves they would do the service. That is materially harmful to 1. The customer and 2. Apples authorized retail partners. Even worse, after asking if another Apple store could assist me I was again told no because I didn't buy directly from Apple. I love my experience within the Apple ecosystem. I turned to the studio display specifically after a horrendous experience with Samsung support for the viewfinity s9. Apple may ask for a premium but in general it was worth it because I knew what I was getting. Today, that changed. It is simply degrading to want to spend my money at Apple and be told we won't help you unless you spend that same amount again not just on our product but directly with us. I genuinely hope to find a resolution to this issue, but without at least a gesture of goodwill, more than simply an apology, I along with many other very loyal Apple patrons will soon have an experience such as this one be our last straw.
