I am new to the Phoenix area. I wanted to report a VERY positive experience with Dave at Apex Automotive (21622 N. 7th Avenue).  Dave was VERY helpful in my "hour of need".   On  3/1/19 (a Friday) my car would not start, and I had it towed to nearby auto shop (Kerry's Car Care (KCC) ,28211 N. North Valley Parkway). KCC diagnosed the problem as my fuel pump needing to be replaced, and quoted a price of $1,942.  Per my review of some info on the internet this seemed very high.  I called Dave at Apex for his insight regarding same.  I had never talked to Dave previously.  Dave concurred the $1,942 was "rather outrageous".  I advised KCC of this information, and was advised that IF I provided written estimates of the other prices KCC would honor them.  Dave at Apex provided me a written estimate and e-mailed to me (at no charge to me!!)  of $778.  Not wanting to have my car re-towed to another location, and risk not having my car until Monday I had KCC complete the work.  KCC's final charge with diagnostic fee $987.   (HALF of their original quote!!!, saving me almost $1,000!!).  (Also KCC refused to honor their own $50 coupon) This will be my first and final and only interaction with KCC.  I strongly suggest YOU be wary of KCC.  I would VERY much like to THANK Dave at Apex for his professionalism, insight and support to assist me in NOT being taken advantage of by KCC.  I strongly endorse Dave and Apex based on this experience.,.........GJM 3/15/2019 read more

Excellent family owned, honest mechanic!! I'm new to Phoenix, and the state, and when my car didn't pass emissions testing, I took it around the corner to Apex. With no appointment, the owner took my car right in. Within probably 10 minutes they determined it was a tiny blown fuse. His son (also a mechanic) told me they didn't have it in stock, but was having one delivered, and assured me I'd be on the road in 15 minutes. He was correct! Plus it only cost $17 bucks. I went back to emissions and passed, then I was able to register my vehicle and get a license plate. This is where my next problem begins... Being from Chicagoland, my plates have been on my car through 6 winters, and the screws were badly rusted on. The Toyota dealership wanted to charge me an hour minimum labor. Really?? It was a Toyota dealership that put rust prone screws on to begin with! Anyway, I called Apex that evening and the owner told me to bring it in the next day. I did, and again they took it right in. And after about 10 minutes they had the old plate and rusty screws out, and my new plate attached. They didn't even charge me, not even for the new screws!! Wow, they've made a customer for life!! Plus the owner's little dog, Muffin Man, is there to greet you and keep you company while you wait! Awesome place guys, keep up the good work! read more

I can not even explain how absolutely amazed as I am with the customer service with this business!! Dave Sr was beyond amazing at helping me pass emissions. I took my car into the shop at around 11AM on a Wednesday morning, he scanned my car because i was having issues with sensors saying they weren't ready to be tested. He told me I was perfectly fine to go through emissions and so i took it to the emissions testing place down the street and the informed me that i wasn't allowed. I went back to Dave and he personally took me instantly back down to the emissions place and got my car tested so i could get tested. YES he did personally drive me and my car back down to the emissions testing and personally drove it through the line to inform them that they had the wrong information and that my car was ready for testing, they tested it and I passed!! This repair shop is BEYOND fantastic, Dave Sr. was informative, he was helpful and honestly this was the best customer service I have ever had in my life, and I'm a manager at a fast food restaurant. I could not have asked for a better place to get help with my emissions, thank you SO much Dave Sr. for the best service I have ever gotten in my life. You are awesome. tattoos and all. read more

This shop is the best!!!! I don't think i have ever been to a better car repair shop then this. Customer care is top notch. Dave knows his stuff about cars and explains things so well and is very thorough. No hidden costs and will tell you the exact price up front. He did a great job diagnosing a P0420 code I was getting which was a bad catalytic converter. During the repair he found the exhaust manifold cracked which I why the cat went out. He kept me updated along with fast ordering of the part and also kept the old parts to show me which not too many shops do. Dave even volunteered to take my car through emissions testing so I didn't have to worry about that but I did myself and passed first time. How many shops stand by their work and do this for you... This one does. They have earned my trust and the five star rating and every five start rating in the past and future reviews. I HIGHLY recommend this as your car repair shop!!!!! Thank you Dave and to all of the APEX Automotive and Emission Team. read more

These guys ROCK!! I recently purchased a used car that had some issues. Mainly it kept going through o2 censors. After spending $600 roughly three times in a year and a half, I was fed up with with local mechanics who said they fixed the problem. I even took it to a dealership because they promised they could fix it. Well, $880 later, the car was still messed up and now I had to pass emissions. I found these guys online and called David. He told me to bring the car there and he would help me even though it was Memorial Day weekend. They took care of EVERYTHING, and got my car through emissions for me, and the final bill was LESS than everyone else's who claimed they fixed the problem. So grateful for David and the guys there! They were honest and straight forward and really took care of me. If you need to get some work done on your car, I HIGHLY recommend APEX Auto! read more

I called Dave yesterday and told him that my car needed to pass emissions. I told him the codes that autozone gave me when I had them check. He gave me more in detail on what was wrong with my car and quoted me a price between $400-$550 based off of the codes. I went in this morning around 9:30 and left before 10:30 with a car that was able to pass emissions AND i didn't even have to pay hardly anything. There's a sign in Apex that says their goal is to "exceed your expectations" and my goodness, they have exceeded my expectations beyond means!! I'm a 22 year old girl with hardly any knowledge about cars and he still didn't try to cheat me out of money. I DEFINITELY WILL be going back, and I've already talked to three people about his service. read more

Called these guys after being quoted over $3900 for repairs down the street at action auto repair. Even though they found more items that needed to be taken care of, I was still charged less than half of what i was quoted somewhere else and they gave me a free oil change as well as a passing emissions statement to take to the dmv. They also fixed my seat adjuster that was broken! :) A couple weeks later my ac was blowing hot air. They could have ripped me off and told me they added freon or that i had a worse problem, but they replaced a fuse and charged me $6. These guys are legit! read more

Dave is THE BEST. I met him at the Circle K down the road from his shop when I had locked my keys in my truck. He had come to compliment me on "Ole Yeller" and when he realized the predicament I was in went well out of his way to go back to the shop and get tools to come help me unlock it. Since then I have been there more than a few times and every time more than happy with his workmanship and his service. It's not often you find somebody that's honest in this industry and when you do you hold on to them. I recommend a van at apex 2 any and all Arizonans. read more

ILast year we needed brakes on our 2008 Dodge Charger. Brakes Plus wanted $1600.00 for it. Apex did the brakes for $375.00! Last week we smelled gas in our Charger and Brakes Plus wanted $1600.00 again for the fuel pump and leak detection pump fix. This must be their go to price for everything. Apex did a Fantastic and Fast job, fixed it all for only $681.00!!! We even got taken home and picked up when it was finished by a very polite, nice young man!! My husband Bill Cabble and I are using them for everything NOW! We Love Apex! read more

I love these guys! My driver side window broke on the way to work. I gave them a call and they had me bring it in. They fixed it within a couple of hours and I was able to pick it up on my lunch break. My window had broken a couple of years before and evidently it was still under warranty. I had no idea. I didn't pay anything. I have used them on several occasions and they have always been awesome to work with. They are upfront about what it might cost and do a great job of explaining the repairs. read more

Apex is awesome! Had my Impala break down on me, called Apex and Dave came out and picked it up for me! They found the issue very quickly and were incredibly understanding with my financial situation that week. This hasnt been the only time we've used them, everytime we go there they are efficient and fair priced. They also make sure you fully understand the issue before they do any work, so you feel extremely comfortable about the whole situation. They are my go to auto shop!! read more

If you're looking for that down home mechanic who is going to take care of you. Dave is your guy. I had a 2004 Honda Civic LX that Im absolutely in love with that sat over the course of a deployment and broke down. He diagnosed an air leak that was causing a loping idle. He also let me know where good local deals were for some new tires and where to find parts easy for the vehicle. Absolute gentleman, would definitely go back. Thanks again Dave read more

Came in to get a second opinion after one autoshop had told me I needed new catalytic converters. after Dave looked at my car he cleaned my o2 sensors and the car is running great with zero engine lights and zero problems. He also fixed the button on the hatch of my car. I could not be happier that he gave me a good rate and repair. He is an honest mechanic which is hard to come by these days. I will definately be back again. read more

My 1986 Lazy days motor home failed emissions. Apex crew looked it over and suggested what it needed to pass. I agreed and they got on to it. With the expert advice and a few new parts we had the good reading we needed. The tile office nearby helped with the new registration and now we are legal. Apex personnel was gracious and helpful. We can now take a trip with confidence. read more

The owner Dave was amazing. He was very polite and helpful, not the type of guy that would give you the run around. I was horribly over quoted by another mechanic, so I called Apex and got the job done for half the price quoted to me by the other place, and with non of the BS. This place is great! From now on this is where I will go with any car issues. read more

Dave did a great job with fixing my car so that I could pass emission test as well as fixing my AC. Dave explained my issue in a way that I could understand what exactly was wrong with my car. I am glad I took my car there and I will be recommending this place to my friends and family as a reliable place to where you can get your car serviced. read more
