I went in for a maintenance service. It was done in about an hour. I waited in their Coca-Cola themed office. There is a big tv, comfy couch and a coffee table with magazines that didn't interest me. It is surrounded by lots of restaurants so one doesn't have to wait on site. It is in downtown Chandler. The front desk person was friendly and professional. I came here after a friend referred me. This place is absolutely ridiculous and they like to rip off women. My wife took her car in for an oil change, the skid plate on the bottom of her car was missing 5 clips. I provided the clips and told her to ask them to do us a favor and install the clips since they were already going to have it up on the lift for the oil change. They charged her ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS to install 5 push clips, with the car already up on the lift. That is like $1200/hr labor. She thought they were going to do it as a favor at no cost. At no time did they provide an estimate. They just hit her with the bill when they were done. Will never go back. read more

Ran over a nail in my honda pilot very close to Hontech. (They are supposed to specialize-in Honda's). Only a nail so hey lets go in right? Walk in and three people are in deep conversation. When the woman behind counter looked my direction I was excited! I was under impression I would get some help for my vehicle. Then I get a blank stare and " WHAT DO YOU NEED GUY"? I was in need of a check for fluid leak, and when I called Loraine, to inquire, she set me up with her husband/owner, Joe, to examine my issue. Turns out that Joe, discovered that it was a high pressure hose leaking, and that all it needed was a half turn to tighten it up and stop the leak. I offered to pay for his time, and he insisted that there was no charge. That doesn't happen much in this busy world we live in. This place sucks. I wish i could give it zero stars. I brought my truck in because it was overheating and i get a call a few hours later saying i have engine damage my head gasket is busted or engine block damage. They assumed all this with doing zero tests on my car it was just a guess. This made no sense and caused me and my wife unneeded anxiety for a day. The next day i drove the truck to my friends shop and he did all the tests you should have done and called me back with the simple fix one of my relays was old and causing my fan to not kick on when it should. So simply they did not want to work on my vehicle and scared me and my wife with getting a whole new engine talk for no reason. Boooo hontech! read more

Hontech has lost my trust completely. The first incident was when they worked on my 2000 Toyota Corolla to replace some front end struts. When I got the car back it was making a grinding noise when braking, so I took it back. It turns out they had given the car to another shop to work on and never checked the work that was done. The struts were so loose the front end almost came apart, and driving it was dangerous. Hontech had it fixed after I brought it back. The second incident occurred with my Honda CRV. Hontech told me I needed new brake pads. When I took it to another shop I was told the pads were fine for at least another year. When I confronted Hontech about the faulty diagnosis the manager blamed it on a technician who she said was working with his friend in the shop to perform unnecessary repairs. The third and final incident occurred with an oil change. Hontech did the previous oil change and I changed the oil after 5000 miles. Hontech had claimed that they changed the oil filter, but the Honda dealer who did the oil change told me the filter was old and dirty and it had not been changed for at least 10,000 miles. Hontech told me that they changed the filter. I do not trust what they tell me and I do not trust them to do a good job. read more

So normally I don't write reviews if they are unfavorable but I feel the need on this one. My honda civic went into "limp" mode and when I tried to read the computer with my scanner it would not connect with the computer. I researched, asked a lot of questions of a lot of people, and used every resourse I could find, with no help. I figured my computer was dead. I have heard some bad things about HonTech but I have always been the type of person to give a fair shake. I called them up and they told me it would be $94 to diagnose the problem and we could go from there. I took the car down there and dropped it off. After several hours the next day (I had dropped it the night before) they called and told me my computer was dead and that they could not connect to the computer. This was the same thing I found on my scan. So I know for a fact that based on the fact the computer could not be read by their scanner, that what they did was hook it up, saw they could not connect, and disconnect. This entire process would have taken about 2 minutes and 11 seconds. So they, in fact, did NOT diagnose anything and spent almost no time, yet they still charged me the $94 and told me my scanner probably shorted out the computer. My scanner is a very expensive one and is not very old, AND I scan cars all the time and never had this issue with any other car. I feel like they ripped me off by charging me even though I KNOW they really did nothing. I would stay away from this business as they are thieves and have NO ethics in dealing with customers. read more

I basically don't like when shops assume I don't know anything about cars because I take my car to a shop to get an oil change rather than doing it myself. I was a loyal Hontech customer until recently I was told I needed a whole new oil pan for my Honda because they could not work with the aftermarket oil plug that was on the car. It had a oil plug used by places like JiffyLube. It has an opening in the center of the oil plug for them to attach a vacuum to suck out the oil. Well the plastic plug in the center had broken off and because of that Hontech could not change the oil and recommended to install a whole new oilpan...I opted out and the next day went to Autozone, bought a new oil plug for $2.50, and changed the oil myself. Saved myself a few hundred dollars. I'm no longer taking my vehicles to Hontech and looking for a new mechanic.... read more

This family-owned and operated Honda-Toyota repair shop just south of downtown Chandler has probably saved me $2,500 in the past two years. Their work is flawless, on time, and fairly priced. Lorraine, who runs the office, probably knows as much about Hondas as her husband and son and other Honda-trained mechanics who work there. When my Uber ride did not show up promptly today, Lorraine called and sent someone to pick me up (live nearby). It turned out to be Chris, who had just repaired my A/C for about half it would have cost at the dealership. I love my 2005 Honda CRV and may be able to get another 100,000 safe miles out of it because the Hontech folks are also good at preventive maintenance. read more

This place is terrible. My husband took my 2003 Toyota Tacoma here to have an issue fixed. My son got the key stuck in the ignition and it would not come out. They did something to the gear shifter and we thought the issue was fixed. We had no idea that they got things to work by disengaging a safety feature in the gear shifter itself. So if I was driving on the freeway and accidentally hit the shifter it would change gears without me holding the brake down and I could wreck and get hurt or worse. Before I knew about the danger my husband took my truck back to Honda Tech to fix 2 door actuators. They had my truck for 6 days with no call before I demanded that we go to them and get it back. We did only to get it home and realize we paid for 2 door actuators that were never fixed. We got our money back, but when I went to drive my truck the whole inside dash was covered in sand. Also my gas cap was broken off, there was exactly 1/2 a tank of gas and a towing mechanism was engaged. All I could think is that these people took my truck to the lake and had a great time while I had no vehicle. We finally got our Toyota to the dealership. They put new actuators in but Honda Tech ruined all the wiring in my driver side door. It is still messed up as the bill would have been 1,200 to fix what Honda Tech broke. I read reviews of various repair shops and dealerships on Yelp and decided to take my Honda Odyssey to Hontech for repair. It needed the timing belt replaced and a general inspection for overall needed repairs. I dropped it off in the morning and made arrangements to be in contact to authorize repairs. A few hours later I received a call letting me know what repairs were necessary and that due to the vehicles age and condition, a couple of items broke but needed to be replaced. It was explained to me that these items were broken while trying to access and/or make the repair. I completely appreciate the honesty and communication. In addition, they let me know the overall condition of associated parts and whether or not they were serviceable and did not need replacement. After authorizing the repair, the total amount came to exactly what I expected it to be. The dealership quotes were several hundred to $1000 more. I am completely satisfied with the repair Hontech made and will refer all my friends to them for their Japanese import vehicle repairs. read more

Hontech - Great Customer Service and Honest repair shop. - Auto Repair Near Me - Chandler, Arizona

Repair to engine mounts in March. Paid in full. (Labor $210.00) Brakes making odd noise took to Just Brakes in Chandler and they discovered that the lower sub-frame bolts were not bolted and sticking out up to 2-inches. They tightened and noted that because of this that the allignment was WAY off and had to reallign ($69.88). 1st call on 07/01/2015 talked to Lorraine who apologized for the mistake and said how dangerous it could have been and offered an oil change for our cars which I said was not sufficient and that I didn't want work done there anymore. She said she would call back with an offer. She never did. I called on 07/07/2015 making my request for refund on the repair ($210.00) and the reallignment I had done at another shot ($69.88). She rudely refused and said I was unreasonable and should have had the car towed to them and even went so far as to say that it was probably another shop who made the mistake. I used to use a Honda/Acura only shop back in WA and was looking for the same when I moved to AZ. These guys are incredible. I take both of my cars here and haven't even considered taking it anywhere else. I know they're familiar with my vehicles (Honda + Acura) and I've never been felt like I'm being upsold (looking at you Jiffy Lube). The quality of their work is great and they do it for a fair price in a reasonable amount of time. I feel extremely lucky to have found such a great shop right away after moving here (2 years now). Never had a rude encounter, and even when I forgot to pick my car up prior to closing one time they weren't upset and we arranged for me to get my keys. Many years ago my wife took our Honda Accord into Hontech because of a blinking oil light while I was out of town for work. To make a long story short, I spoke to her that night and she told me Hontech told her the car needed a new engine. I called Hontech the next morning and told them to do nothing else to the car (basically do not touch it!) and I picked it up the next day. I/we drove that car for a few more years with absolutely no issues. Hontech said that major belt needed replacing to keep car from stranding us in the desert! I thought that would be a good insurance for the trip in hot weather.... There have been times when a light has come on and I took it in and found out that it wasn't an issue and they didn't charge me anything. If I could I would put negative stars.. Last week I found a Honda Accord on Craigslist and called the number which was to Hontech. Both the receptionist and owner's wife/Lorraine told me the owner/Joe Carney was not available, nor would he call me back if I had questions; come see the car and per Lorraine He/Joe stands by his cars. The next day, Oct. 17th, my son & I went to the shop and met with Joe, who said verbatim The car is solid and It needs nothing. I explained This was a big decision, I'm a single parent on a tight budget and said I stand by the car. I explained to him that I had called to ask him about the car but was told No, he's busy and he won't return your calls. He said I'll return your calls. Based on all of this and the fact that he was Honda mechanic & shop owner of several years I purchased the car. On Sun, the 19th, I noticed several drops on driveway and upon inspection by a separate shop the next day, found out the car needed over $4k worth of work to be done. I was devastated. I contacted the shop and again was told by Lorraine that Joe was busy, wouldn't call me back and I could bring the car in. When I did, much to my dismay Joe was visibly not happy to see me. His response to the list of items was You should've taken the car in for an inspection before purchasing the car, The car was sold as is and I never told you that I stood by the car. When I responded that I trusted him because of who he was and because he'd given me his word that the car was solid with no issues, he became irate. He began screaming that You should've known better, How would I be able to make any profit on the car if I'd done all that maintenance, pointing and yelling he said to my son YOU should've known better. At this point, I'm ashamed to say, I started to cry which is when he said Get your stuff get your car and leave or I'm going to call the cops. Things calmed down, said said he'd do some maintenance to the car and dropped us off. He ended up keeping the car over the next 3 days. When I tried to speak with Joe on Friday Lorraine said No. I explained that he said it was okay to call and he said he'd call me back. She told me to shut up several times, she said You are a liar, You are bullsh@# and even hung-up on me. Regardless of their bad behavior, I never yelled or used profanity in my dealings with either of them but the whole time I was mortified that people, especially those with an established business, could treat others with such disdain and disrespect. Shame on them. Please be warned these are dishonest people out to make a quick buck and are not the mom and pop shop they profess to be. read more
