We moved from Methuen Ma to Salem NH with Anton Movers and they were amazing !! Highly recommend !

1) They stole my iPod 2) They showed up with a smaller truck than advertised, leaving enough boxes behind for 6 extra carloads 3) They disappeared for almost an hour while driving from the old place to the new, and charged us for it 4) they took almost twice as long as the estimate, and dragged their heels the whole time (see item 3) 5) They stole my iPod!!!! read more

So the positives: When i spoke to them on the phone - they were very responsive. They also called up the day before and confirmed the time of arrival also. On the day of the move - they were on time, and worked fast and well. All in all did a good job of packing and moving things. Very pleasant and generally diligent. Now the piece that was not good When I called them - whoever i spoke to was asked me a few questions about what I had and where I as moving to and gave me a quote for 4-6 hours at 4 men at 140 per hour. When I asked him if this was going to be enough he said yes - I told him that we needed help packing also (given we had kids and didn't have time to pack). The guy said that should be no problem and maybe a couple of hours. he also underestimated the size of the truck required. When the guys showed up - they said this was an underestimation and said it was going to be more like 10 hours and added a fourth guy - at 20 bucks more. Finally - it worked out to twice the cost of the initial quote. Which left a bad taste for me because if I had know it was going to take this much time and cost, i would have shopped for more quotes or done some more packing myself. This has happened to me before also when I moved from the SF Bay Area to Boston - not with Anton's mind you but another moving company - when the final cost of moving was significantly higher than the estimate given - i almost feel like all of the movers have refined this to an art - quote low but charge really really high finally and then leave the customer with no choice. I only moved from Bedford Ma to Newton Ma - but. this cost me almost half of the price to move from Ca to here! So advice to all - PRESS HARD on the Estimates - get them to come home and do an estimate! and not just by phone. read more

These guys did a small in-town move job for me last weekend. They were prompt, professional, fast (done in record time) and really nice. I highly recommend them for small jobs as well as big ones! read more

These guys are great , Southie to Malden in under 4 hours and done , professional, courteous , respectful . Their phones died on the way to Malden , they had to pull over and use an actual map ( remember those ?) But they knocked 25 min off the total for the delay . Great job , thanks Antons. read more

Great service. I scheduled the move online about 3 weeks out and received a follow up call with more details. The night before the move I received another call confirming the date and time. The crew showed up on time, was very polite and friendly and hustled to get the job done. They wrapped everything in padding to ensure nothing would be damaged. And the fee was very reasonable and clear. I would highly recommend them. read more

Movers, what can I say? Two guys came, very professional and clean, brought all the supplies (padding, tape, boxes, etc.) and completed the move with no issues. It was basically good and I would use them again. read more

Excellent experience. Team was prompt, courteous and careful within our furniture. We needed floor protectors and Anton quickly drove over some supplies for the team. Will definitely use them for the next move. Great price too! read more

Great No Frills Moving Experience I say no frills because we wanted to use them for as little as possible to save money. They definitely understood what I was looking for because when they arrived we had most of our things boxed or bubble wrapped and by the door. We had also broken down the bed frame ourselves, so I really can't blame them for not offering to set it up for us (not a big deal). Also, after they left I noticed that the turn switch on one of our halogen lamps was bent and no longer works. The lamp itself still works so it's not the end of the world. I'm sure they are able to provide a more full service experience for people who don't mind them taking a bit longer. Our Move: I called them three days before our move, because our new apartment was vacant a week early and we had moved the bulk of our things with the help of family and friends. I found a coupon on Yelp and overall the reviews were very positive, when I called the person I spoke to was friendly and professional. He clearly explained the rates and time frames, and seemed genuinely happy I had a coupon. I told him all we had to move was a couch, and a large dresser. I also explained that the stairs were curved and narrow so it might be hard to get some things in. Besides that I told him that the apartment was actually a split level, and the dresser would need to go up an additional flight. I was bracing myself for the additional charges and fees, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear there were none. The day before the move Anton's called to ask if with the impending snow storm coming if it would better to start a little earlier, so we'd have better weather to move in. I told him that would be great, and that because of the weather we didn't get as much done as we wanted and there would be more stuff to move. They were very accommodating with the last minute switch. On moving day they called to let me know they were on they're way, and i happened to be outside when they pulled up or should I say backed up. When they realized we lived on a one-way street, they proceeded to back up the entire length of our very narrow street with cars parked on each side in their 15ft. box truck. To their credit they managed to pull it of (thankfully). At that point I was a bit skeptical, but they introduced themselves and got to work right away. They were extremely fast and organized, and even though I could tell by their faces it was a lot more stuff than they had anticipated, and the weather was awful they didn't let it affect them. Even though our cat spent both legs of the move locked in the bathroom and wailing. I expected to be waiting for them at our new place, but they actually got there before me! I showed them the front and back stairs from the ground level, as well as the stairs to the third floor. I explained that I didn't think the couch would fit, and that we could store it in the garage. They went the extra mile with the couch and all the bigger pieces, they measured and actually took time to think it through before saying no. Several times they made multiple trips up with the same piece until they either got it in, or were certain it couldn't fit. While all this was going on I was trying to take apart the bed frame that wouldn't fit up the stairs. They saw that I was struggling and helped me get everything apart and up the stairs. Ultimately, the couch and one of the dressers couldn't make it up the stairs (which I had expected), they stored it in the garage and took care to put it in the best possible place. After all of that they were still done in exactly two hours, they clearly explained all the charges. At that point I realized that the coupon I had was somewhere in the pile in one of my bags; however they let me just show it to them on my phone. The total including discount and tip was $295, which I thought was really reasonable. I asked them there names (Anton & Anton aka Tony), but they said neither of them were "THE ANTON", and that most people who worked there were either Tony or Anton lol. I definitely would recommend them, and would totally use them again. read more

Anton's was great. Their quote was a lot less than a certain "big" Somerville company and the actual cost ended up being even lower. They were highly communicative prior to and right up until arriving on move day. The move itself was very smooth: Leo and team arrived exactly on time and loaded and unloaded super fast. When my couch wouldn't fit up the front stairs they hoisted it to the back porch. At the beginning, in the middle and at the end, Leo asked if they could help with anything else. I am very impressed and would definitely recommend to anyone in the Boston area. read more

I highly recommend Anton's Movers! I had a great experience from start to finish. The prices are clearly posted on the website (mine was $80/hr for two movers, unbeatable in my search) and it's easy to reserve online, no waiting for quotes. They called to confirm the reservation and also the day before. The two moving guys were prompt, friendly, careful, and hard workers. I can't imagine a reason to go with the more expensive moving companies, they were perfect! read more

Amazing, amazing. This is the second time we've used this company mostly because of the first time we used them. Even though they are paid by the hour, they work fast and tirelessly. They are honest and take amazingly good care of your possessions. Neither time we used them did anything break. This time Fillip, Ivon, and Taras moved us. They were amazingly polite, efficient, and did a great, great job. I don't envision us moving again but if we did we would use Anton's Moving Company again! read more

Short, local move from Cambridge to Somerville. The crew arrived early and were very quick and professional loading everything up. There were still cleaners working at the new place, but the Anton's team was able to quickly drop stuff off and stay out of the way of the cleaners. read more

I had Anton's move me this last weekend. I am EXTREMELY happy with the service. The guys showed up on time and once they started, they were extremely efficient. They took care of my items, made sure they were wrapped appropriately. My concern with hourly movers is always people standing around milking the clock. You do NOT get that with Anton's. Before they started, we reviewed pricing. When we unloaded at the new place, we reviewed the pricing once again and there were NO surprise charges at the end. Price was exactly as we discussed. I could NOT be more happy with the whole process. If I move again in the future, these are the guys I will be calling! read more

Best price I could find in both Boston & Albany, NY. The guys were great, on time, wrapped everything & worked hard. Would recommend them.

I've used Anton's Movers for a few moves over the years, and they have always done a spectacular job. Most recently I hired the team to help me pack up a PODS container before a cross-country move. Chris and Anton showed up on time and were super well organized. In two hours the guys were able to get everything done despite the rain and some awkward stairways trying to make matters difficult. Chris was awesome to deal with and I couldn't be more satisfied! read more

Would not recommend. I had a 4p appointment and did not get a call from them until 4:40p to tell me that they just finished a job and were 20 minutes away. An hour later, I get a call saying that they are coming from Framingham and would get to me in 45 minutes. No apology offered or anything. Bad customer service. read more

A friend recommended Anton's to us, and we were not disappointed. They were punctual, friendly, and did a great job. Our new apartment has lots of stairs and they handled it with a smile. They also wrapped the furniture really well so it arrived in good shape. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Used Anton's again for a 2nd move. This time it was on a much bigger scale. Once again they were excellent. Fast, professional and went above and beyond. Couch would not fit up the stairs and the guys hoisted through a 3rd floor porch only using their bodies as posts! Amazing to watch their strength! read more

We had their service recently and found it's professional and efficient. We had a two people service request but they actually come three and make things working fast. Very good experience with them! read more

I originally chose this moving company after doing extensive research, calling other companies in the area to get quotes, and then chose based off the high yelp ratings and reviews. Maybe I had an off day, who knows, but I thought they were about average. The reservation process was easy. I did have a few questions in advance that I called, but no one answered. However, they responded quickly via email. I did have to get a mover's permit, which was annoying & in hindsight a waste of $ because no one on my street paid attention to it! I literally had to stand outside for over an hour (because the movers were late) on the day of my move blocking people from parking at the spots where my permit was. Oh well, that's not an issue with the movers, more just the locals in the area. Anyways, the night before my move, the company called me asking to push my move time from 9 am to 10 am, which was fine with me. Then the day of my move, I noticed the street was blocked off for a 10k race. I panicked! Called them & they were flexible and changed the time to 12, which was nice. Well, they didn't show up until 1 pm because they were running late. 2 guys came, don't know their names. The shorter guy was in charge and told me I'm paying for the 15 min travel time from their office in Newton and the 55 min travel time from where I was moving out of state back to their office. I was confused because I didn't understand if this was in addition to the quote or included in it. Well, this guy had a bit of an attitude. He was like "I know he called & explained this to you." I was like no one called me, I just booked it online. He was like "well you should've read the reservation online then and know this." (Well it did say this on the online reservation, but I didn't appreciate his attitude. This travel time fees were included in the online quote.) They quickly moved my stuff & left by 1:45 pm. Their travel time was estimated at 1 hour, but they got to my new place around 3:30 pm. A bookshelf broke and a full length mirror is missing. Oh well. They gave a 15 minute (not 15$) discount for the broken bookshelf. No discount for missing mirror, but that's ok because I was considering throwing it away. I did appreciate how they wrapped up my stuff in blankets and duct tape. They charged like 8 bucks for the duct tape rolls lol. At my new place, my boyfriend met them. After they unloaded my stuff it was 4 pm, and the guy in charge calculated the total at $475, which didn't make sense because I was quoted at $100/hour, and I also had the Yelp coupon and I had the 15 minute discount for the broken bookshelf. We questioned how they came up with this total. Then he recalculated and with the coupon and discount, the total was $330. I don't know if he miscalculated or tried to charge us more. Also, pay in cash to avoid the service fee. Overall, I thought they were okay and did a decent job moving my stuff. read more

We have used Antons for 3 moves, 2 local, one long distance. In addition , I have recommended them to 3 friends who have been completely satisfied with their service. Easy, efficient, stress free move. I used Anton's movers after I found a couple of Knicks on my furniture from the the moving company who helped me move before. They arrived within the stated time frame and finished within the quoted time frame. Manny, Dennis, and Sam were unbelievable and I'll gladly be using them again in the near future. read more

Extremely impressed with Anton's. I scheduled a move within Boston for the busiest moving weekend of the month (the weekend prior to Aug. 1) for a Friday evening, only to find out Friday morning that my elevator had gone down. I called and let them know that I wasn't sure when it would be ready, and they calmed me down immediately, telling me they would wait until it was ready on Friday, and if the movers were done for the day and the elevator was still not fixed, they would accommodate me Saturday. Saturday came and the elevator still was not fixed (I found out it would not be ready until Monday), and they added an extra mover on for a very low cost and moved everything down the four flights of very narrow stairs in my building. They were unbelievably efficient (I have moved 7 times in 8 years, so I have a pretty good gauge). Nothing was damaged upon arrival and they both packed and unpacked incredibly quickly for the amount of items I was moving. They were sure to point out previous damage to furniture so that I was aware prior to the move, and they were extremely kind the entire time, despite the extreme amount of legwork it took to move me out. I can't speak to their out of state moves, but I would recommend them to anyone moving within the Boston area. read more

First time using a moving company so I was obviously nervous... They showed up right on time and worked very quickly to get the truck loaded. In 1.5 hours my small 3 bedroom house was packed in the truck and ready to move. All three guys were very nice and sweet. I will certainly be using them again. Thank you!!! read more

This was my first time using professional movers, and Anton's made me realize I should never again move without them! I was contacted within one minute of reaching out, was given a promotional quote that was far more competitive than the competition ($80/hr), AND I was able to move on a sunny, weekend day. I didn't even have to pay a deposit, and the booking was so easy, that a small part of me wondered whether they were actually going to show up. A few days later, Sam and Greg arrived on the dot, and were professional, gregarious, extremely efficient, and trustworthy. Everything was wrapped professionally, and unpacked at my new place two hours later, without a scratch. They were very experienced, understanding how to take apart your couch within seconds (even though it originally took you an hour to figure out how to put it together), and physically superhuman, quickly going up and down several flights of stairs on both ends of the third floor apartments, always smiling. I never felt that they were trying to overcharge or slip in any additional fees, in fact they didn't even charge for any of the packing materials they used. The only thing that was unclear was that you could either use the 3% cash discount OR the Yelp discount, not both. Still, an incredible value and service that I'm so grateful for. Book them now! read more

I had a great experience with this company. After a failed attempt at using another moving company that would not confirm with me, I called Anton's and they were able to get me 2 movers to help out the next morning. They were a little late, but they called me and kept me up to date on their car trouble, giving me updated ETA. They were super efficient when they got there and packed our truck so well! Overall, I would highly recommend, especially for last minute moves in the middle of the craziest moving season. read more

I used the online tool to set up a move. When the mover called to confirm, he told me to be there at 3PM. The web confirmation said the ETA was 2-4PM. When at 4:15 no one had arrived, I called them and no one picked up. Tried calling again around 4:40 and then gave up. Around 5PM someone finally called me back, and after making a few calls, let me know that the truck should be there in another half hour or so. I canceled the job--the inconvenience of the whole experience was enough to convince me that I'd rather go elsewhere and get better service. read more

The movers arrived about 45minutes late, but seemed ready to do the job despite bad weather. We were happy with how quickly they were able to move our furniture from a second floor two bedroom into the van. We gave them a hefty tip for how hard they worked. After a few days, we realized that a lot of our furniture had scratches and dings due to being packed in the top of the van. Another surprise was a $50 ticket from the city of Somerville for the AC unit belonging to the moving guys that was discarded at our old apartment. Despite ten or more calls to their office and claims that the check was in the mail, they have been unresponsive to their mistake. If you want cheap, Anton's is a good bet. But, beware of the consequences and don't tip. read more

Made the appointment over the phone, Tony was friendly and the process was easy. On the day of the move they showed up on time and ready to go. The workers were friendly, worked hard, listened to the few requests I made and did a great job without any damages. Comparatively, the price was very reasonable and the Yelp deal made it even better. I would recommend Antons Movers. read more

I researched a lot of moving companies for moving a 1 bedroom into a storage unit; Anton's was fairly priced for 4 men and a 26 foot truck compared to other movers. I am very happy I decided to move forward with Anton's. They were professional and responded quickly to my questions either via email or phone prior to the move. Phillip and his team were great to work with; they arrived on time and provided great customer service. Since my belongings would be going into a storage unit we went over the best way to store my furniture and save money (using blankets vs. wrapping). I also had some left over boxes that they used instead of charging me for using their boxes. I appreciated that since this was my first time using movers and it showed me that they weren't all about making money and cared about their customers. They were careful with all of my furniture and belongings throughout the whole moving process. I was very impressed with how quickly everything was moved and will use them again in the future. They are worth it, you will not be disappointed! read more

Anton's Movers - Moving a heavy TV armoire. Very impressed! - Movers Near Me - Newton, Massachusetts

Decided to give friends & family a break on this move and hire professionals. I chose Anton's based on a referral, ease of getting a quote, their website allows you to see your confirmation at anytime, and they have very competitive rates. If I could give 10 stars I would! They arrived about an hour early but called me to ask if that was ok which it certainly was. The two movers (Ivan & his partner) were very professional, polite, took extreme care with wrapping & taping everything, took doors off & on to get large stuff out in a flash, set everything up in the new house exactly where I wanted it, were mind blowing fast, and left no trace that they were ever there. Absolutely awesome guys and fantastic experience. Honestly look no further and just hire them right now! read more

I quoted Anton's but then went with another mover-BIG Mistake! I had to call Anton's in a panic for them to finish what the other movers couldn't complete. Within an hour I had three movers hustling and making stuff happen. They were nothing short of INCREDIBLE. I wanted to tip the movers so much more than I did but I was already so over budget I couldn't. Do not waste your time with others they moved us quickly, safely and the movers were so polite, professional and just plan amazing. Thank you a hundred times over for helping us so much. read more

I was enormously pleased with Anton's. The movers were hard working, polite, and respectful. They communicated with me throughout the day, and the pricing was as agreed with no surprises. We have a 65 lb fish tank that is heavy and awkward even empty - they wrapped it well and moved it with no issues. All of our furniture was very well wrapped and carefully carried. We will be moving again next year, and most definitely will be hiring Anton's. read more

By far, the worst movers I have ever used. For starters, the movers showed up several hours late because they had not yet finished their job from the day before. When they did show up, they immediately wanted to take a lunch break. I suggested they make the first trip (truck was much too small for a single trip), then grab a quick lunch. Long story short, they got the truck halfway loaded, then decided to quit. They offloaded the truck and left all of my belongings on my front lawn and porch. I was left to find a rental truck, family and friends to help move with no notice on a Sunday afternoon. read more

Repeated excellence: In two moves within a year (ouch), Anton's movers were not just strong but very careful, helpful and considerate. They made sure they did not damage walls in narrow halls and stairways. They were patient when we decided to reposition heavy furniture they had put down only a few minutes before. We not only chose them for a second move, but recommended them to our daughter and son-in-law when the movers they had hired failed to show up -- and Anton's came within hours that day! read more

This is my second time using and reviewing Anton's movers. Last year, Yuri and his crew did a great job, but were a few hours late showing up. This year, I scheduled a three man crew, which the company predicted would take 2-4 hours to finish the job: moving me out of a 1 bedroom apartment and into a 2 bedroom apartment. The time slot arranged was between 11am and 1pm, and yet again, Anton's was late. Dmitri, Ivan, and Anton showed up at 1:30PM. Not the end of the world. However, while my last experience with this moving company was excellent (once they showed up), this year was less than great. I specifically scheduled a three man crew, because they were so efficient last year, but this time around the three men were slow moving things out of my apartment, finishing about 3 hours after they started. Then I was told they needed to eat lunch. They arrived at my new apartment with all my things around 5:00PM - 3.5 hours after they arrived at my first apartment. I wasn't impressed with their pace moving things out of the first apartment, so I offered to lend a hand moving things into the new place. Lo and behold, we were done in a just over an hour. Maybe they just needed a little extra motivation. It feels great finally getting all of your belongings into a new home, but while unpacking, I have had the displeasure of finding a few broken items. Anton's movers shattered a glass knob on my dresser drawer, broke a CFL lightbulb, and broke the stylus (needle) on my turntable (the ground wire from the record player is missing, too). This move was supposed to take 2-4 hours, at a rate of $140 per hour ($280-$560). I ended up paying $705 plus a $60 tip for the crew (4.75 hours + $40 extra to have two items hoisted down from apartment #1), and not all my belongings made it in one piece. I understand Anton's has a great reputation, and I suppose it is deserved. I just didn't have a great experience. Update: After publishing this review, Anton's movers agreed to reimburse me $200. While the initial experience wasn't amazing, I'm encouraged by their commitment to making things right. read more

Used Anton's to move from NYC to Boston - a few complaints but overall happy - would give a 3 1/2 star if I could. Knew with the price that I wasn't going to get the 100% best. PROS: - Cost: One of the more competitive prices for a move from NYC to Boston. Flat Rate quoted me $1800, others up to $2400 and this came in at $1200 flat rate (cheapest quote I got was $1050). - Friendly & quick movers (Tony & Greg) - On time - arrived right when they said they would, between 7-8 am the morning of the move CONS: - Arrival time - they left at 9 am and didn't get to Boston until FIVE PM - something was up. I took a bus at 9 am and arrived at 1:15 pm - so I am highly suspicious that it would take them 8 hrs to make the same trip- 99% sure they picked up someone else's things - wouldn't have been as frustrated if they had told me this upfront rather than telling me they would go directly and at 9 am that they were "on their way to Boston" and would be there by 2. I paid someone to be in my apartment so that I could catch a bus and be in Boston when they arrived there - could have easily saved myself the $50 if they told me they weren't going straight. - Broken mirror on a wardrobe door - frustrating b/c I specified it required assembly/disassembly in the quote. They didn't disassemble, which made it more difficult to move and mirror of the wardrobe door cracked. They refunded me the cost of the mirror ($50) which I appreciated, but I purchased another one and without also paying for Ikea assembly, haven't been able to put the wardrobe door back on. read more
