The lady over charged me.. I didn't notice until I walked away so I went back in and asked her.. her face immediately changed knowing damn well she over charged me.. I asked her why was it so much $33 for what I ordered and she added that they charge me $2 extra for the extra sauce I asked for that comes in the pollo con tajadas well she started to write everything by hand.. didn't make sense she was struggling trying to make the math of the price of the items to match to the total price she charged me, she over charged me for the glass soda and over charged me for the dressing she had first said $2 then she changed it to $2.50 and then taxed me way more even the hand written receipt you can tell she try to charged me for the glass soda $6 and then changed it to $4 smh never again and the nasty funky attitude they had.. yeah no it's a pass for me.. I use to come as much as I could with friends and family since it's the only Honduran food place I know but not anymore..

Sometimes you gotta just dig deep for the hidden treasures... Sifting through all the tex-mex and wanna-be mexican restaurants, the adventurous few stumble upon this little beauty of a food joint. This place is focused on specializing in HONDURAN food. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny and accommodates about twenty people max (5-6tables.) I heard about this little hidden treasure through some friends, its definitely a dive in every sense of the word. The area is a shady part of town but it's worth the small detour out of our monotonous routine. The service was good (slightly awkward at times) but very friendly atmosphere. The waitress took her time to explain the menu, slowly and carefully, recommending several favorites and specialites of the house. The price of this place is very cheap (about $5-$8 a plate) My absolute favorite that BLEW my socks OFF was the fried plantains with fried chicken. The Honduran-style fried chicken was to die for. I get weak at the knees for good fried food, this fried chicken was cooked to perfection, it had unique breading and was PERFECTLY seasoned, providing a flavorful piece of meat. Additionally this chicken was doused in a tasty "honey mustard" flavor type sauce that brought an amazing contrast. This was all served over a bed of fried plantains and lettuce. This is one of those meals that just makes your palate go off the charts because of the unique flavors. There was some consistency problems but they'll get those kinks out. We also ordered a grilled beef plate, perfectly seasoned but WAY over cooked. It came with black refried beans and rice with fresh avocado slices and some pico de gallo type mixture. My other friend ordered another dish (I forget the name) but it looked sort of like curry, it had a pickled slight vinegar taste, they paired it with a refreshing beet and cabbage salad. Great contrast and idea. You have your choice of fried plantains or flour tortillas, I totally loved the fried plantains, crispy but not too crispy. This place is definitely worth the shady drive to this location. I've never had Honduran food or was told what it tasted like, but if this dish is a representation of what Honduran food represents.

Fortunately for me, Sabor a Honduras was ready to turn that around. The employees were very nice and accommodating as my friend and I put in our orders, and were happy to give us guidance as we took the plunge in to Honduran food. While the dishes were definitely more expensive than I would have expected (hovering around $15) they were plentiful, and genuinely really tasty. My friend got the pollo catrachos and I got the tacos catrachos, and both were great. Overall I really enjoyed the experience. I think to-go might be a bit of a better plan than eating in (we did, and I can't say I'd recommend it) but overall it was a really solid experience.

No one wants to fight with piece of meat. Everything else is till spot on. I'm not sure if there are any Austin Yelpers who are considered the authority on Honduran food. If you're out there, thank you for holding my spot, but I'll take it from here. First things first. The Baleada. This is quintessential street fare, not to mention the most ubiquitous in Honduras. An over sized, handmade flour tortilla filled with refried beans, scrambled eggs, crumbled white cheese, and cream. That's a sencilla (simple) version. You should take the baleada con carne which is that same thing with grilled beef added. These things are huge. You only order one. Seriously. Next, let's talk plantains. Growing up, fried sweet plantains were a mandatory part of any Honduran meal. Here, they serve it the way it would be served at home. The fried plantain is sliced, then served with refried beans, crumbled white cheese, and cream on the side. Top it with as much as you like and go crazy. It's delicious. There are other dishes to try, and you should explore the options, but not before you've tried these two. Honorable mentions go to the Chicharron con Yuca (fried pork rinds with cassava) and the Carne Asada con Tajadas (grilled meat with fried green plantains.) If you want to do this properly, you should also ask for a "Banana" to drink. It's a soda and you can probably guess the flavor. The last thing I'll tell you is that, no matter what you order, you need to ask for a side of "encurtido." Shut up and do it! Almost forgot to mention that this is a CASH ONLY establishment. Enjoy your meal!
